Now that they had met up with the cultists that happened to be dressed up as priests, Gundar had nodded towards them and wondered what was next on the agenda for today. The cultists had explained to the two of them they needed to perform a ritual down at the bottom of this crypt in order to reanimate and aggravate the dead. Then they also had to cast a magic spell seal to make sure that whoever the undead killed and fed upon, would also rise up as undead and continue the cycle. They aren't particularly strong so they would only be strong enough to kill people who weren't versed in magic and martial arts so it would be easy for their client to send some 'protection' and 'slayers' that would clean up the mess on a short term scale and keep their pockets full and food on the table. Gundar had to admit, it was pretty genius so he was all for it.

Keita stood to the side of Gundar as the cultists they were there to protect were speaking about their plan. They needed to perform a ritual at the bottom that would aggravate the undead. This seemed pretty easy, and the cultists were waiting for them to be even further escorted down the catacombs. They found temporary refuge in the secret chamber under the church, but this just meant that they couldn’t open up the other parts of the catacomb without making noise, and the priests were above them. Now that Keita and Gundar had taken care of the priests, they could proceed. Keita nodded and followed the cultists as they headed down the bone filled hallways of the deep tunnel that they were in. Soon, they were met with a large stone door that was attached to an archway, and it seemed that the cultists weren’t exaggerating, pushing this open was going to make a lot of noise.

Now that the cultists had explained their plans to both him and Keita, it was time to get this task underway. Gundar normally felt safer in caves and underground tunnels but of course crypts aren't exactly in his criteria of comfortable. Following the cultists further into the crypt, Gundar couldn't shake the feeling they were being watched. This of course made him feel uneasy but nonetheless, they had to press on. Eventually, they had come across a rather large, stone door that seemed to require a bit of strength to open. Gudnar was confident in his strength but even he knew he wasn't up to this task alone. Pointing at the door, Gundar silently instructed everybody to take one side door and push at the same time. Getting into position, Gundar would also aid in pushing the dooring so that he and the rest of them could get through. Once they started, they couldn't stop however at the risk of injuring themselves.

They had finally gotten to the door, and it was a hefty one which definitely required all of them to push. He was wondering what the cultists would have done had the two of them not arrived, but that thought quickly escaped his head as he walked over and helped push. He knew that he wouldn’t be of much help in the pushing, as he was fairly weak in the physical strength department, so he walked to the other side of Gundar. After pushing the door open and hearing the loud rumbling and scraping of the door upon the stone floor, Keita noticed that the door seemed to be actively resisting them. At first he thought there was someone on the other side holding it closed, so he got ready to fight, but as the group walked into the large room on the other side of the door, there was no one, but the door slammed shut behind them.

Successfully pushing the door open, the party had gotten through with Keita and the company of cultists. There was nothing they could do about the loud noise that had seemed to echo out through the crypt and possible chambers of the church. They'd have to pick up the pace now as there was only a matter of time before the priests would come down here to check out what was going on. The door was extremely loud for alerting the church should unauthorized personnel enter. It seems they had a specific way for it to be opened that didn't require it to be forced open but Gundar didn't have time for that. It was time to pick up the pace as Gundar began to run forward instead of walking at a brisk pace like he was previously doing. The faster they could get to the site to start the ritual, the better.

As the small group of people walked through the door as it slammed shut, Keita realized that it was weighted with some sort of spring mechanism on one side, but it was a little too late for that, as now they would have to rush to the spot where the ritual would take place. They picked up the pace as they walked through, as now they were on a time limit because of the loud noise they made. As they were walking through the tunnel systems and the various rooms that were designed to be crypts, Keita noticed that a number of undead were awakened from their slumber, and were pacing over to them to attempt to claim their life energies. Keita and Gundar were in the front of the cultist group, and so they would be handling these on the way. Keita simply sent out a blade of water that removed the knees of the undead so they could just rush past them.

It seems they had alerted more than the priests above as it seems undead in front of them had started to rise from their graves in an attempt to steal the living's life energy. Gundar never understood the deal with that but as long as they were a hindrance to his mission, he'd have to defend himself and the cultists. Gunder wasted no time in touching the crypt walls in order to coat his skin in the earthen properties to protect himself as well as deal sufficient damage to put them down for good. He'd also tap the side of the crypt wall using his mana, to cause large chunks of earth and rock to fall from the cavern onto some of the skeletons that were emerging from their graves in an attempt to seal them inside before too many came out and overwhelmed the group. Pressing forward, Gundar would begin to punch each skeleton that was blocking or barring the path in front of him.

The group sprung into action, and sadly the cultists that were with them were useless in a straight up conflict like this, as it seemed that they only knew how to perform rituals and not how to control their magic in stressful situations. This annoyed Keita, but then he realized that they wouldn’t have had to hire them if they could take care of themselves, and so Keita calmed down a bit and continued dealing with the skeletons that got a little too close to them with his water blades. They were heading through the crypts, and soon there was a wide area that seemed to open up, and there was a large dias in the center of the room with torch sconces in a circular pattern around the walls of the room. The cultists seemed excited, and started immediately setting up some sort of ritual, taking out some strange chalice as well as sprinkling some sort of blood like liquid on the floor.

Breaking through the skeletal horde in front of them, it seems they had made it to their destination in order for the ritual of theirs to begin. Gundar was still holding off a few skeletons that managed to follow them into the room with the dias. Gundar had made a grunt, signaling them to hurry up and get the ritual ready so they could be done with this place but they were not out of danger yet. It seems as if the skeletons had died down after a few moments of fighting with them. When no more had shown up, Gundar had wondered what else was in store for them. There were several of them on the way here and he didn't believe he had destroyed all of them in one shot. Suddenly, four more priests had shown up with staves and swords yelling at the group to halt. Gundar turned only his had behind him to see the cultists still getting ready for the ritual so he had no choice but to protect them.

Keita had walked into the middle of the room next to the cultists that were ready to perform the ritual. They were getting everything ready, and of course they were fairly inexperienced with the ritual, as everything was taking really long to perform. The cultists were pouring the blood out onto the floor to make a symbol slowly, while one of the other cultists were brushing off all of the dust and other debris off of the dias in the middle of the room. They were being incredibly meticulous in their movements and it made Keita think that they were really new and inexperienced. Keita didn’t feel too bad, as he was also technically new, so he was fine with them being a bit slow. Although, the swiftly building swarms of the undead that were gathering and heading towards them made him dislike them more and more. For now, the small water blades were used to conserve his mana.

Turning his attention back towards the priests that had entered, Gundar had crouched down to recoat himself in the earth magic he had previously used to kill the skeletons. As he did this however, the priests had begun to channel spells of their own. This time these priests seem to be a bit more on the defensive side. The priests had conjured up magic shields in order to block some attack while two of the sword wielding priests charged into Gundar in the middle. They had swung their blades at him. Gundar had admittedly felt a twinge of pain this time around as it seems their swords were laced with some kind of enhancement magic that is capable of cutting through his defenses. Taking their blows, Gundar had to power through and swiftly punch the two sword wielding priests in the face, hopefully knocking them both unconscious. He could only hope Keita could hold the rest of them off as he dealt with these two in front of him. After all the battle was over, Gundar had simply gone back to protecting these cultists for the rest of their time in the crypts. However, if they wanted to be escorted out, he'd have them pay extra.

It seemed like it was a never ending assault with these guys, as it seemed that as soon as they destroyed the skeletons and other undead that had been disturbed and were attacking them, more priests showed up and were telling them to halt. This was obviously not going to happen, as Gundar immediately jumped into action, and Keita decided to summon his trusty condensed water rapier that he used quite a bit to also join the fray. However, he was also going to attempt to run cover for Gundar as he fought in very close range. Every once in a while, Keita would fire off a bit of warm water at the face of one of the priests, which would distract him and impede him just long enough so that Gundar could avoid a staff or sword swing. Luckily the two of them rushed in fast enough so that the spheres of light that they saw earlier weren’t much of an issue. As they were fighting, Gundar quickly dispatched two of them, and Keita noticed that the dwarf spared their lives. It seemed sort of strange, as unless the two of them were going to haul them out of here, they were dead to the undead anyways. No matter, Keita wrapped up the priests on his end, making sure not to fully kill them, before getting ready to leave with Gundar.
