It seems some pesky do-gooder adventurers and mages had been cleaning up the minor undead around Oakland's church and had been doing it for free too. Apparently, they were close to finding a way to close off the undead from coming up to the surface and that was bad for business. An unnamed client would like to make sure the undead will be able to freely keep coming out since the church pays people like him handsomely for such and easy task like clearing out weak undead. Gundar and Keita's task was simple, all they had to do was ruin whatever ritual some lesser priests were taking part in order and disturb the dead a little bit in order to aggravate them and keep them coming. Gundar felt this was a simple thing to do although when it comes to disturbing the dead, he couldn't quite call himself an expert on that.

Keita was currently sitting in a small office building with his buddy Gundar, across from a man that was in charge of the nefarious business around the area. This meant that he had an equally nefarious job for them, which was going down into what was essentially a crypt within the tunnel system of the sewers and making sure no one disturbed the strange energy down there. The strange energy was causing undead to pop out of the ground and wander around into the city, and this was something that the criminal underlords wanted to keep happening, for various reasons that were not disclosed. If Keita had to make a guess, he assumed the reason was so that the criminals could charge a protection fee, or use them to squeeze some people that they had opposition towards, to ruin their businesses by disrupting them. Still, the man was nearly done explaining, so they could get going soon.

Sitting in his chair, Gundar had continued to listen to the details of the mission briefing to the very end. He wasn't exactly sure how they were going to pull this off but he figured all he had to do was just beat up the priests that were carrying out their small scale rituals and exorcisms and that would be the end of that. After the explanation was complete, Gundar simply nodded before standing up from his seat. Looking towards Keita, he gave a little nod to signal he was ready to go and carry out this task. He'd look at their client before giving a grunt and decided to find his way out of this building in order to go to the site where these priests would be located, doing the ritual. The briefing had already contained the information needed and more in order for them to be going around stopping as many rituals as they can.

The briefing about the mission concluded soon after the man finished talking about the cultists that needed to be protected during their ritual, not just from the undead that wandered the area, but also certain people from the good guilds or other mercenaries that were going in there to try and complete some contracts. All of them would have to be stopped, and that was fine by Keita. Murder was something he was okay with, especially in this instance as it would help him get to his goal of becoming more powerful faster. Gundar stood up and gave a nod to Keita, and so he stood up with him and bid farewell to the man giving them the mission brief before exiting, following Gundar out of the area. Soon they would make their way to the sewer entrance that would lead them down into the tunnel network so they could meet up with the cultists.

With two goals in mind, he wondered how they should go about carrying their tasks out. After thinking about it, Gundar figured it would be best to go after the priests first and stop them from doing any more harm to the client's "business' than good. After that, it would be easier and less work for the cultists to undo all the hard work the priests put into trying to seal up the undead. Gundar admits, he too would be out of a job if they fixed this problem too quickly so he wasn't exactly against this idea. Now then, off to the destination to where he could find the priests doing their rituals. it was somewhere in the area where the Oakland church was so Gundar decided it was best for him to head there in order to see if he could locate them alongside Keita. Pulling the red hood over head, Gundar felt it was best to try and conceal his identity as best as he could.

Keita followed Gundar after they had spoken about what order they were going to perform the two tasks that they had to complete, and first up was to stop a group of priests. The priests were trying to consecrate the grounds around the church so that the undead couldn’t escape from the crypts and other places they were sprouting from, and so they had to go and stop them. That was a pretty easy task Keita thought, as these priests were likely not thinking that someone was going to come and attack them while they were doing the job. Keita saw that Gundar was putting up his hood so that he would not be recognized when he went towards the church, although the outfit wasn’t what Keita would call standard, but something was better than nothing he supposed. He grabbed a white hooded sweatshirt from a nearby shop and made sure to hide his face as well.

Making a quick detour so Keita could grab himself something to conceal his face with, they had continued onward to the largest known church in the area. There, they could see some priests dressing in white with gold linings walking around, chanting some sort of incantation. Another two were chanting but were also throwing salt around the property as part of their ceremony. Gundar wasn't an expert on that sort of thing but he was pretty good at ruining things. After he had properly made sure his face was concealed, it was time for him and Keita to get going. After assessing the situation, Gundar had deduced there were five priests in total, three of them holding magic staves and the other two holding a box filled with what he had assumed was salt in it as they were spreading across the area.  Nodding his head, he figured it would be fairly simple even if they could cast offensive magic.

Keita and Gundar quickly got to the area where the priests were conducting whatever cleansing ritual that they were doing, and Keita recognized it as a consecration ritual. Essentially it would weak the undead and lull them into a more permanent sleep, so where they might not even have the strength to push open closed doors or other things that would get in their way when attempting to escape the underground. As Keita watched them, it seemed that Gundar was tensing up, getting ready to act against the priests, and Keita nodded towards him before casually walking around the priests towards the opposite side. Keita wanted to flank them and attempt to take the ones with the staves out first, as they would obviously have an advantage over the salt throwers. Keita waited for Gundar to act, before a large teal magic circle appeared below Keita’s feet, and the water within the air started to condense.

It was almost time for them to make their move. Keita had nodded towards Gundar and Gundar had returned the nod. He'd wait for Keita to get into position before conjuring a magic circle of his own and touching the ground in order to absorb its properties to coat his skin with. He'd increase his offense and defense in one fell swoop before he'd go out and attack. After he had finished his preparations he had decided it was time to move, sprinting towards the priests in the front with the boxes, attempting to grab their attention so they wouldn't spot Keita lurking nearby. It seemed to be more effective than he thought since they had been startled a bit by the dwarf running at them, unsure of his intentions until they realized he had a spell activated around his body. This would cause the priests in the back to chant something completely different causing their staves to glow.

Both of them had gotten into position, and soon Gundar made the first move by coating himself with earth magic. The magic circle was clearly visible, and the priests stopped what they were doing after one of them freaked out and called out to his companions, warning them of Gundar’s existence. As they got ready to fight Gundar, the three priests with the staves were preparing some magic of their own it seemed, while the ones with the boxes of salt pulled out some simple short swords. Keita didn’t feel like letting them finish conjuring and attacking Gundar, so he decided to fire his magic off early. Most people weren’t very creative with the usage of their magic, and if someone else had a water based magic, they would most likely just shoot a wave of water at the priests, but under Keita’s hand, the water would become multiple beams of super pressurized water, able to cut through steel.

Gundar running directly at the priests made them get ready to defend themselves with two of them even unsheathing swords. Well, even Gundar found that a bit odd as he had always pictured priests to be the flowery, healing types. Well, at least this would be fun, or so he thought to himself. As the magic using priests had geared up towards attacking him, Keita had fired off his magic sooner than planned which was a big help to Gundar as they were caught off guard by it, laser beams impacting their back, wounding them greatly. All Gundar had to do was deal with the two startled priests with the short swords that seemed to have caught wind of what was happening behind them. His spell should give him some protection of the sword wielding priests so he just decided he would take there sword swings with his left arm and punch them both with his right.

Keita and Gundar weren’t really used to working together in combat, as this was their first real scrap. He had seen Gundar beat people up before, and Gundar had seen the control of magic that Keita himself had, but this was the first time that there were enemies that were an actual force. The high pressurized water hit the backs of the stave wielding priests, essentially crippling them. One of the priests started chanting something, and a bit of light was slowly healing his wounds, but Keita wasn’t going to let that happen. He saw that Gundar didn’t need his help, so he got closer and used a spell to conjure a big bubble. The bubble flew over and sucked up the priest that was healing himself, preventing him from escaping and rapidly drowning him. The other two would be met with Keita unceremoniously stomping on their heads until they stopped moving. Keita then looked over to Gundar.

Throwing a punch towards the priests, he'd hit them both in the chin in order to disorient them. He'd follow up by placing one of his hands on each of their neck and applying pressure in order to choke them, followed by smashing their heads together in order to knock them out. he had wondered what to do with them not that they were unconscious. Looking towards Keita's direction, he had saw one of the priests rising up in a bubble that had been drowning him while Keita himself crushed the heads of the two that were crippled. Well, that was one way of finishing the job and Gundar had no qualms with that. he wasn't exactly one with a conscious but he'd prefer to cause as little carnage as possible but a job was a job and this was the fastest resolution so he also decided to crush the heads of the priests as well. They had to move onto the next job anyhow which was to protect the cultists so Gundar had signaled keita to keep it moving before the authorities had shown up before running into a different direction.

The cultists were downed, and it might not have been the prettiest job from Keita, he also was not one for close combat without a weapon, and saw that his magic needed a bit of a boost. He was still new to all of this, as he had to train himself in magic utilization for the most part, and preferred control over power. Well, now he was going to go ahead and clean up here, and by that he meant check to make sure everyone was taken care of. This was essentially all they needed to do, as he thought the priests would be deeper in the area messing with the undead, but them being fairly close meant that they had finished the quest early. He checked up on Gundar for a moment and noticed that he had dispatched both of his priests before nodding to him, signifying that the job was done. Keita simply packed up and quickly caught up with Gundar to leave.
