Sho

The sounds of screams could be heard off in the distance as our brave heroes arrived on the scene. Rush Valley, is a mining town that became self-sufficient after the great war years ago. There was a mighty beast laying waste to the surrounding area with little remorse. Why was this beast attacking? Who knew it could have been as simple as stumbling upon its lair and incurring its wrath or possibly just passing by and seeing the villagers get their appetite up. There was no telling what exactly brought the beast here, all one needed to know was that the beast was present and attacking innocent bystanders in the north. Two brave adventurers found themselves at the edge of town watching the carnage take place. The dragon flying overhead blowing down fire on the innocent townsfolk.

One of the brave adventurers Sho Shimura, was angry at this predicament. He left behind Slim Jim to avoid getting his faithful companion hurt in the crossfire. Granted Slim Jim was a wyvern he wasn’t a fighter like Sho was and he was okay with that. Not everyone walked the path of a warrior that meant wildlife too. The only time Sho ever saw Slim Jim fight is to hunt and kill his own food. Other than that the wyvern was too laid back for the battlefield. He had a hatred for those who would harm the innocent without remorse. Collateral damage was one thing but outright roasting people was a no go for him. He decided he would take up the mantle of hero and approach this beast. The beast circled the city once more before settling down in the town square where it demolished several buildings leaving rubble and destruction in its wake. There was no telling how many people were hurt or dead all Sho knew was he had to stop this madness before it spiraled out of control and the beast completely destroys Rush Valley.

Sho looked over at the person accompanying him on this mission, Khalfani Atenhotep the commander of Paradise Dawn. Sho relaxed a bit knowing he had someone like him by his side. Granted he would have liked to try and take the beast down by himself but help was always welcomed especially if they were strong. From his reputation and status, Sho knew he was a strong individual. Sho wasn’t here as a Rune Knight but as a hero of the people. His good-hearted nature couldn’t let him overlook this needless destruction. It was time for action.

“Are you ready for this?”

Khalfani †

"All I ask for is one day."

Under normal circumstances, with the exception of Khnurn, you would never catch Khalfani alongside any member of Fiore's government. Alas, this was not a normal circumstance. Sho and the commander united only because Khnurn was out and about doing whatever it was that he was doing. Through Sho, Khalfani could speak to his brother and so the two had met with only business in mind. Then of course the gods just had to throw something else in their lives to distract them from discussing pressing matters. The two men stood atop a mountain gazing over the city whilst a dragon completely annihilated everything in its path. The monster was enormous, with auburn scales and four horns protruding from its head. The citizens of Rush valley had gone through too much in the last month alone. This was really getting out of hand and to be quite frank, Khalfani himself was under an immense amount of pressure. The eighteen year old simply sighed at the thought of the battle to come.

Bloodshed. Everything always ended in bloodshed. That's all this life seemed to offer and he hated the sight of blood. The Dragon Slayer ran his fingers through his hair, glancing over at Anga and Xena sitting beside each other. It was almost as if they felt their companions pain, like they shared Khalfani's deepest emotions. Sho asked the commander if he was ready, causing the impassive Slayer to turn towards his acquaintance, then back to the dragon. "Always." he dourly said. Khal didn't ask in return because quite frankly he didn't care. All life had been drained from him long ago, he was just a body here to do what he knew needed to be done, for the future of his own legacy and for the future of humanity. Khalfani himself would probably not reap the benefits of what he expected to build, but that was okay. Contrary to what a lot of people may have believed, he wasn't aspiring to be this hero. Moreso, he was willing to become what the people needed.

Right now, as their screams of despair filled the air of Seighart, the fact that they needed a hero was undisguised.

Sho

Sho was content with what his partner had to say. He didn’t know him too well but he knew not to pry. The Rune Knights weren’t regarded highly as Sho would like to think. There was a shadowy past that plagued the Rune Knights's reputation in some parts. As they did operate under the government and the king directly. Not everyone agreed with the crown and how they ran things so it was no surprise that some people would be against the Rune Knights. However, there were some situations where it was better to put aside petty differences for the greater good. This was one of those instances.

The dragon laid waste to the city blasting the surrounding buildings igniting them like a blazing furnace. People were being erased from existence due to the heat of the flames. Nothing but ashes are left behind in their wake. The beast sat down in the middle of town, and let out an ear-piercing roar to announce its dominance. Little did it know that its arrogance was going to be brought to an end by our adventurers.

Sho said nothing but looked over the edge and realized that they were pretty high up. The cliffside they stood on sloped down in such a way that they could easily just slide down the mountain and head into town. Sho wasn’t going to put Slim Jim in harm's way. As it would have been easier and safer to fly to a spot outside of the city. He couldn’t risk the dragon seeing them coming in from the sky and engaging in mid-air combat. That would put them at a significant disadvantage. Well, it would have for Sho at least he couldn’t speak for his companion the commander. Sho took a few steps back to get a running start so he could keep his momentum the whole way down. “See ya down there!” He jumped off the side of the cliff and found himself sliding down the side of the mountain towards Rush valley.

Sho did a mixture of sliding and running down the side of the mountain with minor issues. He had never done this before so it was quite the thrill for him. He had a rather large grin on his face expressing how much fun he was having despite this being extremely dangerous and reckless. That was Sho’s nature; he couldn't help but have fun even when things seemed grim.

Khalfani †

Sho was a mystery. He seemed to be the "look at the glass half full" type of guy, someone with life and energy that could revive anyone around him. It was interesting to see how excited he was about fighting a dragon, considering the people of Rush Valley were being eaten alive. The commander of Paradise Dawn raised an eyebrow, watching curiously as the Rune Knight slid down the mountain and made his way towards the dragon. Sho was completely different than Khnurn, how did a guy like that get stuck with someone so Stoic? With a sigh the commander turned to face the dragon, still standing atop a mountain. Khal tapped his chest, causing a magic circle to appear before his body began glowing a golden color, then he kicked off the ground and zoomed through the sky towards the dragon. Sho had been running beneath him, closing in on the commotion up ahead. With his dagger and shield, Khalfani was certain that this dragon wouldn't stand a chance against him by himself so having an ally only meant that the dragon would be slaughtered in to no time.

Or so he thought...

The common folk trampled over one another as they attempted to leave the premises whilst the auburn colored dragon swatted its horned tail all through buildings, crushing countless civilians and homes in the process. The sun eater was the first to arrive in close proximity to the dragon, his golden glow drawing the eyes of the people as they began to point towards him. By now they knew who Khalfani Atenhotep was and they knew him as Atenhotep. Revealing his Morningstar surname came with far too many problems, but the Atenhotep name was royal, thus, it brought more favorable reactions. Politics, as the commander of Paradise, was something he couldn't escape. "Alright you dumb fat lizard, let's do this." He said as he charged forward as the beast peered down and focused on the people. With his dagger pointed towards its left eye, Khalfani zoomed at full speed. The dragons iris shifted towards the godsblood and quickly its horned tail moved to slam Khalfani. However, he was far too quick as the tail just missed.

The Dragon was keen on proving its superiority though. It was almost as if it could smell that he was a dragon slayer. Either way, this was good. With the dragons attention averted to the guild master, Sho would be able to do some damage to the beast. Hopefully he was strong enough to do something healthy. The beast turned its head in the nick of time before opening its mouth widely. Just as Khalfani came within 3 meters of its lips he raised his shield and a beam of rock shards flew out towards him, knocking him back."Rghhgh." He grunted as the shield protected him. The attack was strong though, sending him back around twenty meters.

Sho

As Sho slid and ran down the mountain side he unhooked his helmet and placed it on his head. He looked up to see Khalfani had activated some sort of spell that allowed him to fly towards the action with haste. Sho could have done the same but he was saving his mana for when the fight really began. He wasn’t against using his legs to get to the scene. He noticed the large crowd of people trampling one another to get away in a hurry. Sho approached rapidly moving at his top speeds of 25 meters a second. Instead he decided he would take a more scenic route as Khalfani flew directly into the dragon’s striking range.

Sho stepped on a barrel and leaped up the side of the first building using the stone poking out as a means of retaining his momentum. He climbed the side of the building like a spider monkey trying to obtain that golden goodie. He landed on the top of the building and began to hop from building to building to avoid the crowd below. One tail swipe came with vicious intent, it blew the building away, knocking debris and crumbling buildings onto the crowds below. One chunk came flying through the air at Sho, with zero hesitation he pulled his blade from his side and flicked on the switch causing the sound of lighting to be heard followed by a loud humming.

He slashed in quick succession roughly four slashes in the span of two seconds as the slab of concrete came his way. It was reduced into smaller pieces in an instant only to fall to smoldering pieces behind Sho. He noticed Khalfani had closed the distance and was going for an attack. Sho used this as an opportunity to close the gap on foot. He leaped off the building and landed on the ground roughly ten meters from the dragon. He circled around to the right as Khalfani went left.

The beast made an attempt to slam Khalfani but it missed due to Khalfani’s maneuverability. Khalfani looked like he was going for the beast's eye but the beast was hip to his plan and turned to face Khalfani the beast opened it’s mouth letting loose a beam of rock shards came barrelling out of its mouth. Sho focused at that very moment with all of his might. With his run speed Sho was now right beside the beast's right hand he stepped forward causing white magic circles to appear at his feet. At the same time he flexed his free left hand as the beam saber was in the right. Gravity encompassed a four meter area around him causing rocks and debris to float upward. He ran up the side of the beast's arm due to the spell he initially activated. A piece of debris followed him as he ran up the beast arm defying all gravity and logic.

Sho made it to the top of the beast's shoulder and he jumped into the air with the debris in tow. With his left hand he motioned it forward to make the one diameter piece of cement fly at the beast’s head. Due to it being focused on Khalfani it would have not seen the debris till it was too late. The beast would close its mouth to turn to what exactly was running up its arm. Only to be met with the debris in the right eye. As it slammed into its right eye an explosion ignited raw Gravity causing the beast to reel. It covered four diameters which was the beast’s entire right side of its face. The beast stumbled for a moment but this was nowhere near enough to strike a fatal blow. This fight was only beginning. As the show began to fall back to the ground he stuck the blade out and stabbed it into the beast’s side as it reeled. He was stuck there for a moment. He was now holding on like this was a rodeo.

Khalfani †

It was just his luck that the dragon both him and Sho were fighting happened to be an element that he wasn't damn near immune too. It was annoying, to say the least, that he couldn't just use one spell and end the beast in one go. Truth be told, Khalfani was a great team player (most of the time) but he would be lying if he said he didn't want to do this on his own. It wasn't that he doubted Sho's capabilities, but moreso his alpha, dragon slayer instincts kicking in.

Khalfani wanted to tear this beast limb from limb, bring it back to the guild, and have Amir and Azure find out more about the damn thing. Were there more of them coming? How many more of them were there? Why were they attacking? The North was dealing with back to back monster attacks and Khalfani really couldn't take it anymore. The Dragon Slayer was prepared to end it all, build walls, and move from there. The King had refused to send any troops to help with anything. From the titan attack to the dragon attack, only a few guilds had sent support. It was something Khalfani would never forget.

More time, it was something that he wasn't upset about. It only secured his thoughts about the North being a free region- or at least free from the government. Sho would be the last to step foot here without every single whispering person watching them. Khalfani was curious about the Rune Knights ability. As he pushed himself up off the ground he watched Sho run up the arm of the beast before hurting its eye. The magic was clear, but not invisible. Wind magic maybe? The way the force of mana rippled through the air was different than how the normal element of wind would operate, even infused with magic.

The commander pushed himself off the ground, his flight spell still activated and flew towards the dragon with his speed picking up over time. Perhaps all it took was one strike for this to end now that Sho had blurred its vision. The dragon twisted and turned to get the Knight off, but Khalfani was swift enough to move and still land a worthy attack. Dagger in hand, he sliced across the Dragons neck, causing a tear in its skin to release a flow of blood. That wasn't all though. Khalfani, now behind the dragon turned and swung his arm diagonally, releasing a slice of light straight towards it's neck.

The head. Always go for the damn head. This was the first time the rogue prince had fought a dragon but he was certain it wouldn't be the last. Somewhere down the line was a dragon waiting for him to consume them, a light one, probably master of everything ethereal or something like that. Khals spell would only it the dragon, causing it to roar out with whatever it had left in that voice box. The dragon was severely injured now. Between Sho's attacks and his own, it would come to an end rather quickly. The two of them had kept the dragon occupied long enough for the towns folk to get as far as they could from the battle. Still, many of them were scrambling to evacuate. Someone had to help them.

"You finish them off and I'll help the rest of these folks evacuate!" The commander shouted as he soared t ground level, picking folks off and dropping them off further away. The people of Sieghart may have not been important to the Knight, but they damn sure were important to the Desiertan. Their safety was first priority, always. As Khalfani dropped them off, he would return to pick up others. Hopefully Sho was doing well on his own but from the looks of things he was more than capable. Not to mention Sieka had chosen him to walk lands beside him. If his older brother had chosen him, then it was likely that he was indeed worthy.

Sho

Sho held on with all of his might as the beast thrashed about. Now the beast was somewhat blinded, Khalfani took it upon himself to deal a serious blow to the dragon. A slash across its throat caused the blood to spill out onto the ground. A second attack was made by Khalfani, a blade of condensed light fired upon the back of its neck. Khalfani was trying to decapitate the monster but his attacks were shy a few inches. The beast now in its death throws thrashed about trying to alleviate some of the pain it was feeling but with no luck it let out yet another roar as if it was trying to call for someone. Sho felt bad for the beast at first but then he quickly remembered how many lives were at stake and the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few in this instance. Especially considering one of his best friends was a wyvern he couldn’t help but think, what if this was slim jim. His feelings were slowly getting in the way of finishing the mission. Sho snapped back to reality, his grip tight on the blade as it stuck in the beast's side. With his spell still active, he drove the blade in deeper as deep as he could and ran up the side of the beast with the blade in its side.

A cut opened up on its left side causing blood to spill out and a visible view of part of its insides. Sho pulled the blade out as he reached the beast's back. He ran up the back of the beast, trying to get to its head. Sho took the humming blade in his right hand and proceeded up the beast's back. It let out cries of pain as it stopped thrashing about long enough for Sho to get to the area where the condensed light hit. It was a sizeable gash in the back of its neck Sho figured he could finish the job Khalfani started. Sho took the beam saber and cut into the gash hitting blood vessels and bone as the blade cut inward. Blood gushed out all over Sho as he cut into the beast with all of his might.

The cut sank deep into the beast's hide taking a moment almost a sawing motion to cut through the bone. The beast thrashed about once more trying to throw Sho off. But his spell held him firm in his position. Sticking to the beast's upper back region and towards its neck. Sho removed the blade to get a good swing at its bone in an attempt to sever the head. With one mighty swing, Sho cut through the beast's gash through the bone. Bloodshot out as the blade cut through and the beast's head fell to the ground. The body of the beast stumbled for a moment trying to act out the dragon’s final wishes. But instead of attacking once more the beast’s body fell limp to the ground.

Khalfani †

Sho was more than capable it would appear. Khalfani's attack had done the trick by creating a gash on the back of the dragons neck all the way through, enough to cause it to bellow about and bleed from the wound. The dragon stopped and what seemed to be dance as it tried to control its body. It had been losing too much blood now. Between Sho's attacks and the attacks from the dragon slayer himself, it became evident that the creature was beat. Khalfani needn't do anything more, instead his focus was on the townsfolk that had been running for their lives. Paradise Dawn and allies had literally just cleaned and rebuilt Rush Valley. Khalfani flew towards the people, picking some of them up and moving them away to safety.

Khalfani was swift enough to do it a couple of times, defending the other citizens as they ran to safety. It was a good thing that not too many buildings had been destroyed in this mess. The clean up would be Tedious and Khalfani really didn't have the drive to do it a second time. With their dagger in hand they turned towards Sho after helping folks to see where he was at. To his surprise the Dragon had literally already been down. Khal had been so focused on evacuating folks that he didn't hear what would have been a large thumping sound of the dragons body on the ground. The commander sighed of relief. Thank god that was over.

Wiping his forehead as if he had been sweating despite not a single drop of sweat being produced, he flew over to the scene where the dragon had fallen. Immediately he thought about things to collect and put into his museum. The head was a clear take, so before Sho could even take it (if he had been thinking about it) Khalfani landed in front of it and picked it up. "Dibs" He said before smirking at the Knight. Slowly his smile faded as he realized Sho was actually a Rune Knight. He wasn't like any of the other though, that much was true just by him being in the North to begin with. Khalfani paused, thinking about what exactly he should say to Sho. With a sigh, he opened his mouth and did what he thought a leader should do regardless of the circumstance.

"Thank you... Sieghart won't forget this." He said facing show wherever he was. The Slayer balanced the dragons head in his hands atop his own head, still hovering about five meters off the ground as he kept it from falling and taking anymore damage. The head leaked blood, still fresh cut off from its body. The Commander of Paradise Dawn looked around at the city, evaluating just how much of it had been destroyed. "If you should ever leave the Pig corporation, there's always a place for you at Paradise Dawn." Khalfani said with his usual cold tone. Sho was definitely a worthy fighter. He had the guts and willpower that Paradise Dawn Members prided themselves in. It all made sense now.
