The wind mage overlooked the cityscape. The people were lost in a sea of flickering lights. Music called out to anyone passing by the local speakeasies. Empty whiskey bottles poked out of alleyway dumpsters, hidden from the scenic view of the pedestrian walkways.

The wind mage sat on the hard ledge. His thoughts a torrent of confusion. He had found solace in the arms of Nuala, but the recent events weighed on his mind. Death and destruction brought to his home. His hand trailed up to his right shoulder. he rubbed the place of his tattoo, a new marking for the new era about to begin. A new home that awaited him. He gave a heavy sigh but something about it all seemed to make his shoulders lighter. A heavy burden unloaded. One that revealed more of the person he had lost touch with, beneath the responsibility he was given.

"Stop," a woman shuffled into the alley below him. Her legs wobbled as she held a knife out before her, clutched in trembling hands. A man stood behind her, gripped onto her shoulders, hiding. A group of three men with bats surrounded her. One tapping the bat on his leg as he closed the distance. The whiskey bottle dumpster bleeding the smell of alcohol out into the alley around them.

Kaz stood on the ledge, the wind sweeping across his feet. A faint breeze carried him upward and the mage dropped down behind the thugs. The couple staggered back and the woman's knife lowered.

The three men peaked over their shoulders. The wind kicked out around the mage and ruffled the garments and pile of bottles. "Who the hell are you."

Kaz remembered the countless times he'd proclaimed his rank and affiliation. The times he urged people to surrender and the many times they never did. All that had been ingrained in him over the years. All that had slowly faded like etchings ins stone weathered by time.

"I'm...just a concerned passerby."

The thigs whirled around with knives drawn at the mage. Their hands were steady and knuckles white from gripping their blades. Feet shuffled closer. Boots dragging through the pebbled scoured street. The sound of deep breaths drowned out by the beat of drums in the streets. Festival lights flickered in the fierce eyes of the men. Kaz pressed his heel to the ground, his stance dropping lower.

A shimmer of steel flashed in the darkness. The blades lunged forward with murderous intent. A gust of wind erupted from the wind mage's heels. His body shot forward at the three. With a twist, he spun around their lunging stabs. The knives grazed across the soft fabric of his robe. The men stumbled forward now on the opposite side of the alley. Kaz skidded to a stop, now standing between the thugs and their intended victims.

They all whirled around to face one another again. The thugs readied for another attack. Kaz rose a hand to his side thrust it at them. The men charged but a torrent of wind slowed them to a halt. The pressed against the gale force and tried to step forward but the wind pushed their feet back to the ground. Their arms covered their faces as the winced. One by one their blades flung from their hands and stabbed into the wall behind them. Their feet inched backward, "aghhh," a man muttered as his feet peeled upward and the men were flung into the hard wall behind them.

The men slid down into heaps, still breathing but battered and out cold. "You two okay," Kaz asked. The couple stumbled backward and dashed out of the alley, with fear-stricken faces. Kaz cocked his brow and shrugged before he winced as a storm ripped down the alley and smashed into him. he held his arms out and pressed against it. "What the?"

Throwing his arms upward a magical circle appeared at his feet. A tornado crashed from his palms into the force of wind that had surged down the alley. The maelstrom was shot upward and into the sky. Kaz took in a deep breath and peered down the empty path now. No one was present. The couple had already scurried off and made their way into the main street. The thugs were out cold still and the sky was calm.

"I wonder what that was," he asked. Turning away from the scene, the sky suddenly shifted dark. Clouds rolled in with a silent imposing presence. The wind mage's eyes narrowed at the once sunny day. He held out his hand as a the patter of water saturated his glove.

The rain steadily grew until the drops felt heavy and splashed on the sidewalks. People rushed about to little overhangs and umbrellas for safety. They all settled into the thought that it was just a rainy day, but Kaz felt something more than that.

A gentle strum of a string instrument hummed through the winding alleway. Kaz turned his ear to the sound, hoping to catch a glimpse of the source. Instead, a violent rush of wind ripped back down the way and was headed straight for the unaware citizens eating cotton candy and hiding by a food cart.

Kaz dashed faster than the wave of sound and wind. The vibration was on his heels but only for an instant. He rolled in midair and sliced his arm at the dirt-filled gale. A blast of razor-sharp wind cut through the sound attack. The couple screamed and collapsed to the ground. "It's okay. You're safe but you should get out of her.

A man strolled out of a darkened corner with a violin in hand. "I hear you like music," he said to Kazimir and ran his bow down the resined strings. A vibration resounded and rushed forward yet again.

Kaz dashed up above as the vibration crashed into the wall that was behind him. Brinck and mortar tore apart and scattered into the air. People screamed from within the building and rushed out the nearest exit. The wind mage glared down to make sure the people were okay and landed on the rooftop. He couldn't keep putting people in harm's way by letting this man loose.

"Shall we," the man spoke and played a sharp G that sent another blast. Before that vibration barely left the violin the man was strummed again and again. A full song was in play now, each not sending out a different magenta-colored blast. The wind mage flipped to the side and sliced at the magical blasts. Wind collided with sound waves. But they weren't all aimed at him. The magenta shockwaves ricocheted all around and clashed with buildings and rushed toward the people in the street and in homes.

Kaz summoned his twin wind blads and spun them with his hands. The blades zipped around and cut through the vibrations. Some narrowly arriving in time to prevent serious injury to people. Brick crumbled and civilians fell from the sudden burst of magical collision in front of themselves.

"you're good," the musician said as he stepped forward and began to play more vigorously. even more, blasts followed. the crescendo. Kaz exhaled a bullet of wind that whizzed toward the man. The violinist strummed his bow and sent a small magenta shockwave at the bullet. But when the tiny bullet exploded into a small tornado, the wind tore into the wide-eyed man and finally halted the song.  Kaz closed the distance in an instant and was in front of the musician. The man clutched his instrument and rose his bow. Kaz pressed a palm on the man's gut. They both looked at the pale hand Kaz pressed against him.
