The three of them traveled out to find the wolves camp. A light rain began to drizzle in. Their footsteps were muddied as they left pools of water indented in the ground. Two pairs of boots alongside a wolf's paws.

The path took an hour to walk, Cameron and Achak rushed ahead as Kaz was walking slower to calm his mind before the battle would begin. He fitted the gear that Cameron gave him. Shifting his robes around and to tuck everything into place. His new outfit was yet to be truly tested in battle and he hoped he wouldn't get tangled in anything. It was a design very similar to his other outfits though, so there wasn't so much a need to worry. His mind was just grasping at anything to think about in preparation.

The mage had walked into dangerous territories before and thinking back to the wolves den with Snow he wasn't so sure that this was going to be much different.

He found the two of them camping at a high vantage point. They overlooked the camp of wolves from a safe distance above them. Both laying down of the ledge of a small cliff that overhung the camp slightly. The moon was on the opposite side from them further concealing them

Kaz climbed up the steep rockface to meet them. He kept his body low to the ground. His hands got dirty from sifting through the rocks to meet them. Once he was beside the two. Achak pointed to a large wolf giving orders to the others. "That is him. My brother. He is the one you must challenge and defeat." Of course the one pointed at was larger and more fierce than all the rest. Kaz gave a simple nod and slid back down the cliff, feet first.

Achak called out to him as he was climbing down, "Do not show fear. Only pride and strength. Or they will tear you apart."

Kaz was ready to take on whatever beasts were there. He took the werewolf's words to heart. He needed to not show any fear there. Something that wouldn't be too difficult as this was not his first time engaged in a battle with their kind. He didn't know what kind of dirty tricks the wolf would use. Kaz was used to fighting for his life against people that would do anything to win anyway. So this situation didn't change much for him.

He reached the bottom of the cliff and dusted off his clothes. Tightening his robe he walked towards the open village. There was no fence around this one but he didn't expect to see tents and a fire roaring. He saw them more like a beast and this was a judgment he had to cast aside. His hand ran across the useless wand at his side, more useful as a club now than a device for magic. It gave him a smile and he entered the village.

The wolves were carrying loads of lumber and meat. All of them headed to the fire for a feast and then to return to labor. Two of them snarled and looked over their mangy fur at the wind mage. They dropped their stacks of lumber and crouched down to a crouched pouncing position. Knees bent and arms were open with claws flashing. Their teeth showed as their gums pulled back.

One of them approached which stole the attention of the other wolves that now stood still. Their eyes were piercing and all aimed at Kazimir and what would happen with the approaching member of their pack. The demeanor was clear they were not used to someone coming to them.

Kaz was going to raise his hands as a gesture of nothing to hide but remembered what Achack said. Instead he took some steps towards the coming werewolf.

"I'm here to challeneg your Alpha."

"As the one who killed the rogue werewolf, I seek and Audience with Amarok," Kaz said with pride. the wolves growled and snarled. Their dark eyes glancing back and for at one another in disbelief. The werewolf in front of Kaz stood tall. its chest puffed out displaying its matted fur. "You killed him," the wolf howled and the others followed suit. With a begrudging look, the wolf motioned his head for the mage to follow. If nothing else Kaz figured they would try and make him into a nice meal. Delivery service for the hungry pack.

The werewolf led him through the small camp. Kaz peeked back up at the cliff and only saw their faint outlines of his allies. You'd only be able to tell if you knew what to look for. The werewolves followed behind. each one standing an easy foot or more taller than the wind mage.

They circled around the fire. In the middle of them, all was the largest werewolf. The one he was sent here for. Kaz felt a large paw on his back that pushed him into the circle and to face Amarok. Kaz stumbled forward and regained himself.

Amarok toward over the wind mage and the other wolves. Scars littered his body and his muscles overshadowed all the others. Although he was not as big as the one Kaz faced in the cave. Seeing his opponent, the wind mage was less worried now. Something he could potentially deal with. The werewolf just stared at him, waiting for him to speak.

Kaz stood tall and said with pride, "As killer of a werewolf, I stand ready to challenge you for Alpha." The wolves all broke into laughter at what Kaz had said. The most human response from them so far. Even the Alpha broke his bravado to a bout of laughter. That is until the realized Kaz was not laughing.

Kaz concentrated his magic and sent out a ripple of wind through the pack of wolves. It billowed Kaz's clothes and wafter through the fur of his enemies. It was deaths whisper in the wind. Kaz's eyes stayed fixed on the manhunter. The one who would slaughter a village of people.

All the laughter stopped and some of the wolves whimpered as others snarled once more. The wind mage stepped closer to his enemy, now a few meters apart. "I..." Kaz began to speak when the werewolf howled at the moon, beckoning his kin to do the same.

"Fine. You want to Challenge. Then I accept." The werewolf backed away a few meters to a total of ten and stood with its legs wide and claws ready. One was held forward and the other back. an arm to block with and one to swipe with.

Kaz stepped his right foot back and turned his left side to his enemy. A basic stance he learned a long time ago. He brought his hands up but left his wand at his side.

"No weapons, no gear. Claws versus magic," the werewolf snarled. Kaz nodded and dropped his wand and deactivated the glowing stone in his forehead.

The wolves surrounding them began to howl and once the stopped Amarok rushed forward. The wolf's dash was just as fast as Kaz could...normally. Kaz dashed backward and the wolf was already on him and ready to slash. Kaz could feel the power coming from the blow. Kaz kicked outward and sent a gust of winding launching him faster than the wolf could perceive. Kaz swiped his hand and sent out a tornado that ravaged the wolf. As the mage was further back he breathed a vacuum of wind that shredded the wolf further.

Amarok hunched over and a gleam of light revealed a faint item. The werewolf growled and as he did spectral claws cut into Kaz's back.

He now saw how the wolf had cheated. He had a magical item that gave him a ranged capability. Kaz wasn't going to play around anymore. The wind mage created a strong surge of wind that lifted him thirty meters into the air. The wolves looked on with awe and Amarok glared with frustration. His eye twitched and his claws tensed.

With another growl, Amarok released the spectral claws but they could no longer reach the wind mage.  Kaz looked down at the werewolf and realized this was his true advantage in a fight. The ability to soar above attacks. Kaz took in a deep breath and roared to the evens. A dozen tornados descended as the sky turned black. Amarok stood tall with wide eyes. His arms limp to his sides unable to do anything. The wind engulfed him and left him laying on the ground.

Before the werewolves could rush in to check on him, Kaz flew down and snatched the amulet from around Amarok's neck and held it high. It had the symbol of a claw. "This is a magical item and this is how Amarok was able to defeat his brother.

The wolves grabbed the item and inspected it. Amarok stirred on the ground revealing he was still alive. The pack howled and then surrounded their fallen leader. He opened his eyes to his brethren salivating around him and the tore into his body. They ripped him apart and left him with nothing.

Achak walked into the camp. The wolves wiped the blood from their snouts and looked confused and then to Kazimir for an answer. They now saw him as the Alpha. "I present to you the rightful alpha to your pack."

Achak stepped in and howled with the pack and they all joined in. He smiled as much as a wolf could to the wind mage and said he would bever forget this day. He gave Kaz a stack of jewels for his time and the two parted ways. Hopefully to see one another again one day.
