Saturn
He could hear the cries of echoes family acutely now, he could see their tear worn faces, their harshly treated hands. He could tell they had been working themselves to the bone on the road, doing whatever was neede dof them until they were put away in cages. Saturn stood there; his armored battered. His spear in disarray. He felt emotions after emotions that he had never felt before. There was a coldness to this world that he hadn’t seen; a desire to have more but make it so others didn’t have anything. He felt the sadness, the fear, the worry and longing of those beyond the bars. He stepped forward. His armor shedding off of his body as it felt the weight of this evening on it finally. He felt the spear’s spirit reach out to him now that their flesh touched.

It was warning him of what was here, a beast, a monster, nay a man that was willing to do this to others. He stopped before the sword that was swinging to hit him fell short. Churning up the dust of the camp in front of him. He stood very still and the laughter of a beast of a man touched his ears, a werewolf wearing some kind of marvelous armor. He could see the little nicks and clawmarks of the mindrache all over it. He had them make him some kind of armor while they were also working on the jewelry. He felt… hollow seeing that. He felt nothing. He felt.

Nothing.

There was a surge. A wave that made his hollow empty emotion become filled to the brim with revulsion. He didn’t accept this; he didn’t even want to accept the fact that this monster had brought that to him. He could hear the ramblings of this beast, of this monster, of this person in front of him. There was a hollow nature in his tone; his greed and his lust for everything away from others was easy to discern. Saturn looked to his spear as it spoke to him still. Everything felt hollow.

Everything felt like it wasn’t right. There was no justice to this, no rhyme or reason he could fathom that you would take someones freedom just so you could have the next… shiny thing. He felt the raw emotion of anger swell to new unbridled heights. He could feel the throbbing hopelessness of a dozen tired mindrache. Their worn and worried faces looking between their savior and their captor.

Saturn stood there while the man talked; his eyes staring deep into that of a child mindraches. Their claws were the same size as the marks on the armor; they likely had made them in an effort to fight or they were the ones to make it. The werewolf raised his sword to saturn but there wasn’t even a moment of pause. The sword clattered to the ground; a hand gripped it still but it wasn’t connected to the arm anymore. There was a lengthy pause between everyone in camp. Saturn’s arm had moved on its own. Held in such a way and the blood on the blade of the spear sang the tale. There wasn’t any words he had that could tell you how he felt anymore. There wasn’t any hesitation as he stepped forward.

His body moving on its own, his deep sense of justice and deep sense of hope for others on the boundaries of movement. There was very little in the way of passion here; he felt something primal snap within him. Something that had been teetering on the edge of the world since earlier. The boss was trying to fight back but each time he lost a little bit more of himself.

There was blood and music in the air, saturn didn’t stop. His hands moved, his spear danced, there was a song being sung here and it was of the being in front of him. A beautiful vile death that wouldn’t let the family recover until he lay twitching on the floor. It seemed like hours dragged by and eventually saturn found himself standing over a slaughtered beast of a man. Sometimes werewolves transformed back to their human selves after they have been killed but some would be too far gone in their beastial persona that they’d even turn back.

This was one such man.

Saturn stood there staring at the corpse of the first person he had ever killed. He could see the pool of blood, he could see each and every stab, each and every slash, every puncture of his song deep within their body. He felt numb in a way. There was a semblance of innocence deep within him that knew that killing him wasn’t the answer but if that wasn’t then what was? This man was so far gone that he took the freedom from innocents themselves. His music had broken the locks on the cages of all the slaves. Their little bracers, braclets, collars and whatnots on the floor as they ran around, helping others that had been hurt or not cared for. He felt echo’s claws tugging at his fur.

Saturn? Saturn. SATURN.

The numbness to his soul eased out and his senses seemed to come back. He’d look down to echos face which was a mix of concern and… something else. Awe? Respect? He didn’t know. He’d look to his friend and see that there were answers deep within those eyes. But he didn’t care, he’d let his spear drop to the ground and pick up the mindrache in a big hug. The little demi-god squeaking in the grasp of the larger one before returning the hug. There were no words that saturn could find to describe his emotions here. What he had to do and what came of it. There was a pain, deep and primordial in his heart now that he wasn’t sure if he should continue to feed or try to heal. There was just… pain.

He remembered all the talks he had with all these different people and one of them sang the truest of them all. A person that had seen what he had and knew what he might have to do. He’d look down to his companion again and they were buried in his fur; big tears that he was sure were real. There had been a choice in all this and he could have easily turned away. The family that they had been chasing was helping others now. He had made the right choice and knew that without a doubt the darkness that he had embraced during the moments prior to this… that they were the right ones too.

Justice, his kind of justice was kind and forgiving. But something deep down told him that his kind of justice was right in every case but the one that took from others and took that freedom. His kind nature and his sense wasn’t the right one. He knew that he had for a better sense of the word… evolved. And it would take a long time for him to realize what he had evolved into.

His loss was the worlds gain. His sister had learned that very early on. And now he too carried that burden.
