Atani scratched her head as she read the letter from Giuliano Salvadori. The party with Luca she had helped at had gone just as planned... but this wasn't the desired outcome. Not in the slightest. It was one thing to be overly confident in oneself and feign magical talent in the comfort of home, but to bring those delusions to Magnolia to be a child superhero? No. Giuliano had to nip it in the bud, but unfortunately he was out of town on a work trip. So, instead of dealing with Luca himself, he was putting it on Atani to play along until he could come back.

Great.

She really didn't want to further fuel this child's fantasy of being a talented mage when really he struggled to get the basics down, but Giuliano wasn't leaving her with much of a choice. He had sent the letter assuming she'd say yes.

He was already gone on his work trip, and he had given her instructions for where to meet Luca. Added on was mention of her promised reward, which was an even greater amount than the time before. This helped, of course, but it still didn't make her feel much better about deceiving Luca like this. Sooner or later Giuliano would have to tell him...

Atani went to the streets in search of Luca Salvadori; it did not take her long to figure out where he was. The kid was dressed in a skintight suit reminiscent of those superheroes children would read about in books and comic strips. Much to the likeness of his father's magic, it was made of green and gold fabric, and was even complete with a pair of pixie boots and a cape to add that whimsical, childish charm. She only hoped he hadn't gotten so attached as to pick a hero name yet.

Atani approached Luca, who was practicing his spell casting form in the middle of the streets. He instantly recognized her from the party, and eagerly waved her down. It appeared his father didn't inform him of her meeting him that day, for he assumed he was just here to witness more of his impressive feats of magic.

"Oh... yes! That's correct." She mentioned to Luca how his dad had told her to be on the lookout for a certain 'superhero' on the streets of Magnolia, and the kid beamed with pride.

"Would you like to be my sidekick?" he eagerly asked, as if this was some sort of great honor to be bestowed upon the elf. No matter what she thought on the matter, no matter how odd it would look for her-- a professional mage to be the sidekick of some kid with little abilities-- she knew she was just doing this to please his father and earn some jewels.

She agreed to be Luca's sidekick for the day, and they went off to save whoever needed saving in Magnolia. She, of course, didn't bother to tell him about the request board, because he was far from ready to take on any real jobs even in this little town of his. Instead, she followed him around as he searched for spontaneous troubles to arise.

Prior to experiencing any troubles, Atani made sure he knew the queues: they were exaggerated spell movements that she convinced him would wow any bystanders, but in reality would function as a signal for her to cast the right spell in his stead. Luckily, she utilized a form of light magic, so her spells wouldn't be too different from his father's. If he did notice any differences, he would likely chalk it up to him becoming stronger.

Throughout the day, they (or rather, Atani, but it appeared as if Luca was doing everything) managed to get a cat down from a tree, fix a man's broken cart, and stop a petty thief in an alleyway. At the end, she escorted Luca back home, and was able to be rewarded by his mother.
