A blank reprieve, a chance to forget about what had been going on for the better part of the past few months, her adjustment had hardly been one of ease, one that was accomplished without some sense of suffering or otherwise strife. Vyra did not have it easy, certainly not pleasant, having found herself more and more intwined in the growing feud that took place through Hargeon, the small scale war that was taking place between the trading companies of the Hargeon Docks and the politicians of the city of Hargeon; both of them were repeatedly finding themselves going at each other in not the terms of a traditional war, but certainly that of a trade war. The motivations were apparent enough, trying to establish and secure their own respective ways of handling how business was being conducted. In the past, it was something that was often disagreed about, but never had it become so apparent, so blatant, nor had it drawn in so many outside actors into it either.

Vyra had found herself involved as one of them, for quite a while, whether or not at the beginning she had even come to realize that herself. For a bit, she was there, a benefactor of the timing and nothing more. That was the excuse at least, given by those whom had been caught engaging in the affairs or either the trading companies or those who were just out for themselves. It was hardly an isolated thing, and while there was as much a culture war in trying to shift the opinions of the young people of Hargeon, including that the politicians who sought to move people away from that sort of business and the trading companies who viewed those with ambition as potential employees one day, there was as much the third, yet seldom spoke of group that existed, the one that was not invested in the plight of either group, and instead focused only towards their own self-interest.

It was the camp that Vyra found herself more often in, just going ahead and taking what she wanted, not for malicious purposes explicitly, but rather given that the amount of people who conducted trade, the amount of money that was changing hands between both reputable and shady dealers, there was no shortage of means of getting money. And pawning off the stolen goods that came in through Hargeon’s docks was one of the easiest, one that she had found herself often getting involved with doing, even if it were something that would have been looked negatively upon, especially given her reputation as being Alisa’s Pet, the derogatory term that as much reflected an actual feeling towards her, as much reinforced by her own status as an unofficial part of Blue Pegasus. Had it been anyone else, it would have been far less likely that she would have been given as much flexibility, and even now, much of it had been attributed more to her not being caught than accepted.

But, the nature of those who had been investing in their own personal ventures and values were beginning to draw attention that was not wanted, and for those who participated, the consequences varied greatly. Vyra, she was a unique situation. While they did not want to give her preferential treatment towards her behavior, there was no way that they could have avoided the fact that anything that they may have done towards her, something that they may have engaged with others like those of youthful street urchins, the repurcussions that would have stood to come from Alisa in particular was not something that they wanted to risk. The politicians, they were not a real threat, never were. But Blue Pegasus, it was not something that they wanted to challenge. The wrath of a guild going against the trading companies, despite how strong they were, that was a fight that they were making a very dangerous game at trying to stop.

It left them with very little options, when all was said and done. The only thing that could have been reliably done was try to take the attention off of Vyra, and doing that was going to be tough in its own right. She, despite being relatively new to the city, and in the grand scheme not particularly important, was very much a person of interest. While it was a term that she hated, Alisa’s Pet was an accurate title to be given to her, and it genuinely showed the stance that was held towards her, but also in that same right, showed the respect that was shown towards her. Nobody would have dared mess with her, but seldom few seemed to not know of her either. It was an unfortunate plight, but it did become a bit apparent that for them, for the trading companies and other parties that did not want to put their operations at risk, thus the best course of action to handle Vyra, was not actually to cause harm, but see her gone for a time.

Thus, she was back in Marigold. A vacation of sorts as was described to her, but more than anything an effort to ensure that while she was around in Hargeon it reduced the chance that things could have been led back to her. Their operations, from the typical attempts of exploiting the insurance provided by the politicians, existed within the realm of their world, but attempting to capitalize or otherwise drag the Blue Pegasus Guild within was a potentially disasterous situation. Not only would it be reasonable to believe that Alisa would never agee to any sort of arrangement, but even more likely was the chance that they would be accused of trying to exploit Vyra, a scenario that was partially true while also a bit of indulgence on their part. Either way though, it was wholly clear that at the bare minimum that Alisa would view this negatively, and while they on their own probably could have won the war of the minds against politicians trying to leverage support from people whom they never cared about, they knew that if it was brought against Blue Pegasus, they did not have much chance.

And so she was here now, spending some time until it was considered safe enough for her to return. She was wondering this, worried that it would take a while. Though they did not say outright, it was apparent at least that it was somewhat tied to the situation at the harbor. Not hard to figure when it was some people representing the trading companies that told her about the vacation and also provided her with all of the details. Accommodations, a hotel room, every single expense and thing relating to cost was already covered, leaving her with no reason to be worried at all save for just what she was going to do during her time within the city. It was a nice situation, being able to enjoy the aspects of Fiore that she otherwise would not be able to. Travel was seldom something that she put much consideration towards, nor was all that capable of doing; despite what she made from pawning items in the past, it was as much to help cover the costs of what was going on presently with her in Hargeon than anything else.

But here, that was a pleasure that she seldom had, but one that she was very grateful towards. She could spend time going shopping and buying things, even though that was hardly something that she would ever do on her own. Wouldn’t be the worst idea to get a feel for it, to enjoy it and maybe come to appreciate it for when Alisa may take her shopping one day. No doubt that that would be something that she could see the tall, Blue Pegasus guild master doing. Vyra shrugged at the idea. It could have been fun. Certainly if there were a place for her to get used to such an idea, Marigold would certainly be the place to do it. Even though it may not have had quite the variety in merchandise that Hargeon now had, especially in the wake of everything that was being imported into the city, it did have two benefits in that it had things that were largely unique to Marigold, and it also had much more affordable prices compared to Hargeon.

But shopping was just one aspect of what she had to look forward to within the city. There were no shortage of other things that she could have engaged in, and whether it were that, just appreciating good food and recipes that would be far unlike that of what would be there in Hargeon, or just other things of the sort that were enough to get her excited, it was one of the few times that Vyra was in a place and not having to worry about what may have happened to her. As far as exactly what she wanted to do, she struggled with coming up with an idea. She expected that she was going to be within the city for at least a week or so, the total cost of the hotel room that had been prepared equaling something to the effect of nearly three weeks in total, so even things that she were a bit interested in, there was no huge urgency in.

What she was a bit curious admittedly was seeing what was going on with the Marigold Theater, a place that she had worked with before on a different job, but one that she had appreciated, and one that had similarly welcomed her as an unofficial part of their community. It was nice, a group whom did not know much of her but still appreciated her company all the same. In a way, it was very similar to that of Blue Pegasus, which save for Alisa and a few whom were close and familiar with that situation, did not much know about Vyra, certainly not enough to be considered friends. That was sadly just the nature of her relationship right now within Blue Pegasus, which in part made this sort of trip all the more enjoyable, it enabled her to be around people who had come to gotten to know her a bit better, and thereby welcomed her more than what others may have.

While she was getting up to date on some of what had been going on with the people of Marigold, to much her dismay, she had also come to hear that there were problems that had been brewing. Particularly tied towards the nature of very anti-foreigner projectst hat had become popular amongst the theater district. It was a problem the last time that she was here, but it was becoming even more common, to the point that now the theater wasn’t even ashamed to be pushing out the work, the new generation of writers and producers only making art that was designed around it, a sad thing, especially given that when she was there working with them, there seemed to be an active fight against it. Now though, it seemed that the ones who were in charge were resigned to just allowing them to take place. Worse even, they were actively pushing for them to take place.

She very seldom enjoyed being involved in these sorts of things, but she knew that this was going to be a problem that only stood to get worse. The change in what had been happening since even the last time she was here was worrisome enough, thus it seemed fair for her to push for a much more aggressive response. Reaching out to a messenger that she was familiar with, she had a message relayed to Hargeon to the people at the docks whom she knew to be more “hands on” with their approach to solving problems. Explaining the situation, she hoped that they would be able to do something. It took several days, but eventually the solution had arrived in Marigold, and one day, as the producer emerged before the theater’s crew with his face busted open, eye swollen, teeth missing, he declared that the latest project, one that would have been regarded as one of the more racist productions, was being ceased. Less than a few days later, word had spread throughout that the project had been terminated, the theater having to deal less with the backlash than that of the producer having his own reputation ruined. While not exactly the preferred route she would have wanted it to go, Vyra was glad that she had managed to handle something like this. It was the last thing that the city needed.
