Hardly did it seem that the situation within Marigold was much affected by that of the affairs within the world of Fiore, broadly speaking. There were no shortages of small things in which the city and its people felt, a slight decline in one facet of their markets in one brief window or another, perhaps a decline in general visitors to the city. At worst, it may have been something to effect of a particular good limited to some degree, though even there, these often proved to be much less of an issue and rather instead something more akin to that things that could have been easily explained away by the simple passing of the seasons. Not uncommon, seldom a rare thing, and very often a justifiable answer and reasoning towards things of this sort. For the most part; there was some of that which people had begun to believe were more attributed more sinister factors, or at minimum, what people had not been properly regarding.

More than anything, it stood more as a byproduct of the issue that had most concerned and if anything, harpered Marigold as a whole, that it was too oblivious, too carefree, to be mindful of what was going on elsewhere in the world. Save for more of the isolated happenings that went on or otherwise directly affected someone in Marigold, often those being more tied towards the Theatre district and the subsequent failure or success of any given actor or actress, more often than not being tied towards the lone instance of success amid a sea of disappointments. Otherwise, attention was seldom directed towards the affairs of what happened outside the realm of Marigold. It had fed into a political and social identity that had long existed once upon a time, but within last several years had become more and more prevalent, to the point htat to operate or behave as though it were an oddity became in itself an oddity.

To make matters worse, and to further imbed the current generations of Marigold residents into their way of thinking, there was an admitted lack of information that came within the city. Aside from the typical new sources of travelers and merchants that would convey things, couriers did not prioritize Marigold compared to other cities like that of Era or Magnolia or Hargeon even, partially given the nature of a lack of huge markets there, but also in part because of the lack of any guild within Marigold, the others having Fairy Tail and Blue Pegasus as other sources. In that, there were more opportunities, more chances to send out job requests, other bits and tidbits of information and valuable commerce that just was not there in Marigold, but also extending to the numerous other cities and locations that did not have the benefit of either having been established as a hub of the country of Fiore or otherwise did not house one of the guilds within it.

An unfair cycle, one that as much bred resentment as well as ignorance towards the remainder of the people in the city. Nothing was particularly off limits as far as finding a reason to be angry, to find justification for existing bigotry and hatred, more driven by jealousy than that of functional or rational reasoning. It was saddening to those who either did not understand the rational, whether out of youthful ignorance or a clear sense of enlightenment, who recognized the value that stood to have existed within Marigold, namely the chance to turn the city into more than just the city that housed one of the most important institutions within all of Fiore, the Marigold Theater. That was perhaps the greatest tragedy throughout all of this, the fact despite there being such an important establishment right within the walls of their city, one that had the potential reach like that, if not greater, than that of almost anything else within Fiore, save for a few locations, it was being lost within a field of bigotry.

There had been efforts made by people, one upstart after the other, some from the political field, others who grew up within Marigold, and some even whom had never been exposed towards the inherent culture that existed within the city. The problem though always seemed to have been the same; regardless of how much one would have hoped to be able to change the hearts and minds of the people, there was just no inherent reason or desire of the people to change. There was nothing wrong with Marigold, and compared to the plights that had been felt throughout the other cities, limited not only to the constant threat by the dark guilds, but also those issues that were manufactured by its own people, at least in part by engaging in affairs that generally exceeded their own borders. Hargeon was a notable example of this, the city having been under the plight of a relative cultural shock, at the minimum an effort to revamp the culture that had long existed within its docks.

It was a problem that Vyra had seen firsthand. The issues there had been longstanding, having existed long before she had arrived there, and in her two years of living within Hargeon, she had seen the behavior manifest even further and further, to the point that this attempted revamping of the culture was proving far more to be some fruitless attempt to show face and make it appear that things were going to be different. As far as she was concerned, based in part what she knew as well as what she had seen over the course of her time there, it was not going to be something that changed. That all said, it simply stood to prove and reinforce the ideas that had progressively become more and more locked within the minds of the people of Marigold, that that was the sort of environment and plights that they would be introducing to themselves if they were to go ahead and try to reach out and grow.

It made little sense, and the arguments towards it often fell flat because of it. Few wanted to grow. Many were satisfied with how Marigold was, what their lives were like already. The only thing that stood to come was an influx of people who neither cared for them or about them, and a quality of life that only stood to decline with the introduction of people, in some cases people whom brought with them great wealth, in some cases people who brought little, only looking to effectively steal from the people of Marigold with their presence. It brought a serious question though, what was the purpose for not wanting there to be growth and expansion within the city. Was it tied to the risk to the quality of life for those who opposed it, or was a concern towards the long term survival of the city and its ideals? Neither stood to come to pass, but both were feared all the same.

More than anywhere else though, the sentiment was conveyed no more strongly than it was in regards to the Theatre District, strangely enough given that the actual sentiment towards people outside of Marigold was probably least felt amongst those who frequented it. That did not stop those from trying to develop and cater towards those feelings, whether overtly or subtly. It was all becoming more and more apparent that the sentiment was enough of a reason to continually fuel the flames of this. It certainly was drawing in plenty of attention and business towards the Theatre, and though there were plenty who viewed the idea of trying to capitalize on the dissent within the people as cheap, if not even underhanded, the fact was that the ambitious projects that the theater had become more and more commonly introduced to the public required greater and greater funds. Masterpieces could have easily been funded on the heels of lack of effort performances that fed into the growing sentiment of racism within Marigold.

Vyra had seen it often enough times when she was spending some time in Marigold, carrying out some miscellaneous jobs for the people of the Theatre. They were various jobs, some of them which were so foolish that it was hard to believe that they were actually jobs that paid. The reality was that they hardly did pay. It was why that she was able to earn them, as she was not a full member of the Blue Pegasus guild, only able to get the work that was provided on the basis of them having foolishly believing that she was there. She did not feel great about the lying she was doing, but she had a hard time turning it down though given the situation, given that they were paying her in the form of room and board for essentially what came to nothing. About as good of a situation as she could have hoped for, all things considered, but it also gave her plenty of time to spend around the Theater, and in that, she saw no shortage of people who were trying to figure how to go about further inciting that same sort of hatred towards foreigners that was becoming all the rage.

She had seen enough of it to know that it was unhealthy, all too familiar with behavior that she had seen while in Hargeon, while in other areas throughout her travels before arriving in Fiore, and even after having seen so much of it, she still found herself sickened by it. It was a general cruelty that existed, no justification towards it, no reason given. Seldom if ever had she benefited from it, only suffered, and the sad thing was that that was exactly what she saw within the Theater as well, one play after another, all of it just trying to further make money, not caring at all what would be the effects of it, what would happen to the people who were impacted by it, none of that mattered. The performers did not care. They just viewed it as another role. The writers did not care. They viewed it as a piece of their resume. It was sickening, and the only thing that came to her mind was the desire to just put the sort of performance down, to see to it that even if in the grand scheme it would do little to stop what was going on, one less show was one less chance for someone to convey this racist sort of rhetoric.

Actually going about sabotaging such a job was easy, if not something that was laughably so. Vyra was still well regarded within the Theater, despite the circumstances surrounding the brief employment that she was there, albeit whilst there under the false guise of being a member of Blue Pegasus. That had not been held against her, but certainly it had drawn some eyes to her being there, though they were concerns that were largely dismissed. In the end, it was simply just a case of going about her usual affairs, spreading lies regarding the supposed writer of one of the upcoming shows that was all about rioting against potential non-Marigold people settling in. Spreading a lie that the person was actually a Dark Guild symphafizer, something that was damning by its own right, but given that she was regarded as a member of the guild Blue Pegasus, it was all the more convincing and essentially a guilty sentence by its own right. It was perfect for her and enabled her to go ahead and just perform the deed without having to worry about any sort of questions or concerns that would have existed normally. She made sure that enough people heard the rumor that she started, enough at least so that the people would begin to spread it on their own. Once enough people had heard about it, then it would be hard to tell it started from her, but it would grow large enough for it to be something to kill the show off, accomplishing exactly what she wanted.
