QUEST

Quest: Experimental Hexes

Rank: D

Type: Bad

Requirements: None

Client:
Dr. Stephan Mabuz: Dr. Stephan Mabuz runs a quaint little magic shop nestled in the streets of Oak. Though it doesn't receive much traffic, Stephan isn't worried; his real business comes from his underground dealings of illicit magical items. Poisons, hexes, and whatever else a dark mage might need, the good doctor has it - for a price.

Summary: Dr. Stephan Mabuz wishes to have some new hexes he has created be tested. He obviously doesn’t have the time to wander around the city using magic on people, so he tasks his favorite clients to do the filthy acts for a reasonable price. There are two hexes he wishes to be tested, and you must try each of them out on a different person.

Enemies: None

Objective: Test the hexes, report back.

Details:

  • Create a topic in Oak Streets, with the paper with hexes on them with you.
  • You have two hexes given to you by Dr. Steven: On a piece of paper, the words imbued with the hex is written, when spoken out loud it will be cast on a target the reader envisions. After it is cast, the word fades away.
  • The first one is called "Stimuli" and is supposed to make the body extremely sensitive to stimuli for an hour, when cast on a pedestrian they are shown to be visibly uncomfortable, thus, the hex is successful.
  • The second one is called "Decrepify" and is supposed to stop someone's legs from functioning for an hour, when cast on a pedestrian they are shown to only gain a noticeable limp, thus, the hex was only partially successful.
  • Report back these results to Stephan, and he will pay you what is due.

To place a hex on someone was once something Joshua thought he would never have to do. He didnt anticipate this job. It was a side effect of working for the Martello family it seemed. Dr. Steven, who joshua found repulsive in a non physical way. He took pleasure in what he did, he could tell just by the way he smiled. It made Joshua sick with anger the first time he saw it. He recognized it, he had seen the same face on the hyenas that stalked his homeland. It wasnt a true smile, it was a baring of the fangs and teeth. He would keep on his toes when dealing with the Doctor in the future, he assured himself. He had 2 scrolls to use, and he would use them and get done with this work as soon as possible.

He made his way to the park and sat down on a bench. It wasnt a proper park mind you, just a small place where people could gather and play. Thankfully it wasnt that busy. And there were no children. He was grateful for that. These hexes were untested, and he would never forgive himself if a child got hurt by the hexes. He took no pride in this job, but it was a mission he had to complete regardless. He watched as people moved and went about their day, he watched as a holdr man, about his age, was walking through the park to get somewhere. Joshua opened the first spell and cast it.

The man struggled a bit and fell to the ground. He was shaking and could barely move. But he was well enough to not die. He struggled and joshua had to make sure not to notice. Eventually after about an hour or so, he was finally able to stand up, shakily, but he left as quickly as he could. Joshua wrote down the notes and waited. He felt sick and bored already. He would make sure the doctor paid for his crimes. But not while he was on the clock, and not until he was out from the Martello family thumb. He wasnt happy with the work he was doing and would take his frustration out on the doctor one day. He waited longer, for another person to walk by.

He soon found that a couple was walking through the area too. He cast the second spell, and despite knowing it was meant to cause total leg paralysis, it only made the man limp and did not seem to work. He was glad, the fear of not being able to walk for sudden reasons would be detrimental, even if it did wear off. But he wrote down the information for the doctor, despite his feelings he was on the job, and those feelings could not color his eyes. He stood up and made his way to the doctors house, he dropped off the papers and accepted the payment from the grinning hyena. He would remember and return one day and put a bullet in this mans skull. He turned and left taking the pay ment with him.
