Heaving a sigh, she nodded her head slowly as she read the letter that had arrived from the citizens of Dahlia. It was addressed towards the guild and the script held a painful demand. Xandra knew that kaiser would have already received news from the city officials but it didn't hurt to check on her again. Combing her hand through her hair, she let out a small groan at the troublesome task ahead of them. Last time, she had proved to be rather idle during the task and she was sure this time would be no different. Still, she did prefer that she tagged along instead of sitting around doing nothing.

She walked towards the guild mistress' office, opening the large wooden doors ajar. At the end of the office, she would see the large wooden table where she expected Kaiser to stay seated. "Girl, I have good news and bad news." She would walk forward and seat herself comfortably on the couch in the room. "Let's start with the bad news first." Taking another glance at the letter, she would look back at the vampire with a frown on her face. "The dogs are loose and are causing more trouble. We're gonna need to go psycho on them." She heaved another sigh. Despite having taken down so many of them, it appeared that the lycan race was one that didn't learn no matter how many times they were taught. Despite having a vampire as the guild master, they seemed to continue wanting to test their limits. Although she had only encountered them once, she was already not quite fond of them.

However, the frown that lurked on her face soon morphed into a smile as she grinned at the vampire. "The good news is that I'm bringing snacks this time to enjoy the show."

She raised herself off the couch and dusted the creases off her dress. "Let's go put these dogs down once more." She shrugged her shoulders, "Two hits from you should be plenty enough." She let out a chuckle, remembering her guild mistress' psychotic breakdown as she mercilessly massacred those lycans.

Kaiser

Kaiser was once again in her fancy office within the guildhall. She had a lot of shit to go through, most of them being matters related to the city that they inhabited. After becoming a reliable pillar for the Dahlians, requests came flying in nonstop and it was wild, but Kaiser liked it. Her reputation as well as the guild’s just kept growing, giving them more influence over the city than before. One year ago, when they just started, there were a number of haters calling their guild ‘sexist’. Although it was kind of true, when you think about it really there were still some cases of women not being treated equally compared to men, and as a woman herself, Kaiser had experienced this one too many times, especially when she was just a nobody. She was a feminist at heart and wanted women to have more influence in the grand scheme of things. She did not care if her guild was viewed as a ‘sexist’ guild, because she wanted females to be superior to males anyway. When you really thought about it, Kaiser did not really make the guild as a sort of ‘give women more rights’ thing. She made it to prove that women are superior to males. So if people still called Daeva Eye a sexist guild, she would take it, and say ‘so what’, because the person who said it was probably a male.

It was a surprise when Xandra showed up in her guild once again. Kaiser looked up from her paperwork and gave her her usual crazy grin. Her guildmate then proceeded to talk about having good news and bad news, and then said that she would talk about the bad news first. Kaiser nodded with a shrug. She would have asked for the bad news first too if Xandra asked her which she would prefer to hear. Apparently the stupid dogs were once again annoying the Dahlians and the officials have requested for them to take them out. It was another chance for them to make easy money as well as show the city how reliable they were. Plus, Kaiser got to beat more lycans’ asses. She loved that. Whenever she got a chance to show them which was the superior race, she would do it. “Okay, let’s hear the good news,” she said after hearing the Enchantress talk about the bad news. Once she heard what it was, Kaiser let out a hearty laugh. “I hope you’re actually watching though so you learn something,” the vampire said, keeping away the paperwork that she was just working on. She liked to keep everything on her own. The one place that she did not allow the cleaners to get in was the guild office, and only she had the key to it, since there was a lot of sensitive information about the guild inside it. “Let’s go,” she said once she finished cleaning up. They would once again have to walk to the woods.

"Don't worry. I will be watching. I wouldn't miss that even if I had the chance."

Her words bellowed, along with a small chuckle, in response to the comment made by the vampire. There was still far too much that she had to learn and it was indeed helpful to accompany Kaiser as she went on a hunt to stop these lycans from spreading more fear within the city. This city, infamously known for it's hazardous nature, was now her home and to be able to protect it, she had to learn about the dangers that lurked within. In this case, and the previous one, it just so happened to be these insanely furry creatures that weren't exceptionally pleasant to look at. However, she did look and what she came to realize was how scary they might appear to others. She could understand, as a fellow human, why the citizens feared these creatures. The Bellan was lucky enough to have the vampire alongside her. Moreover, she, herself, was more than capable of taking care of herself but that was not the case with the citizens.

She recalled the time when she visited the church and how easily she had managed to get the approval of the citizens, not because Daeva Eye was immediately trusted, but because they needed help and they were willing to grab any opportunity that comes their way. She heaved a sigh of relief at the thought of the people that probably attempted to raise their hopes with the establishment of the female guild. It seemed like they were trusting the guild and that brought a small smile on her lips. While it also meant that she may have to venture out to deal with these lycans more often than not, even without the vampire sometimes, it also meant that were one step closer to being completely accepted.

Upon seeing Kaiser rise from her chair after she finished cleaning up the hoard of papers that rested on her table, she took that as cue and got up, standing next to the wooden table that adorned the center of the room. She folded the piece of paper that she held within her hand and placed it within the pocket of her desk. "After you, my lady."

Aldenwald, their destination and the terrifying home of these lycans who often refused to listen to the warnings that were given to them by the guild, was as dark and eerie as it always was. It hadn't taken them long to get there, more so because it didn't lie too far from the guild building. The tranquility that surrounded the dark forest was the same as it had been a few nights prior. It was as if nothing had changed. The dense forest, full of lifeless trees, displayed no signs of hiding any furry dogs but they knew better. They would either have the option of hiding away or coming out in an attempt to attack the two female mages. The former would perhaps be the smarter choice if they recalled just how their previous encounter had ended. However, she was still rather unfamiliar with the lycans to know if they were indeed smart enough to hide from their predator.

Kaiser

The travel to the infamous Aldenwald was fast as usual. On the way there, Kaiser and Xandra had their usual chat about things that girls like to talk about. Choosing to walk there instead of a faster mode of traveling gave them time to bond and get to know each other better. Even after a whole year of doing that, there were still a lot of things that they could talk about, because that was just what girls were like. They would never run out of things to talk about. “Girl, my nipples are really stiff, I think I’m going to be on my period real soon,” she said, and then laughed out really loud. It was a joke. She was a vampire and she did not get periods anymore, which was a plus really. She no longer suffered what came with having periods, and pms-ing, oh god. Glad that was a thing of the past now. After arriving at the woods once again, where the air was naturally tense and the whole ambience was just gloomy in general, Kaiser led her guildmate deeper. She knew that the wolves would show up, because those dogs were dumb and would probably be dying to get revenge on her for clearing out a whole pack on her last visit here.

It took a bit more time for them to actually meet the lycans this time, probably because they thought that having them deeper in the woods would be an advantage to them. About fifteen minutes after entering Aldenwald, the two Daeva’s would come to a clearing where a group of angry looking lycans decided to jump them. It was once again, like the previous time, a peaceful jumping, because they did not attack straight away after showing up. They really liked to talk. Maybe it gave them a confidence boost. This time they were surrounded by five lycans in total. They resembled the first group during the last request too, so they were all adult lycans if Kaiser understood their hierarchy well. So as she expected, one of them spoke up, and it was pretty funny.

“You the ones who killed my brothers? Did you think you would get away?”

Why was it funny? Well, it’s because Kaiser was the one who actually came back to them and she was not ‘getting away’ or anything from them. He really did not know how to make a sensible choice of words. Of course the vampire could not suppress her will to laugh. “Oh shit...we’re totally trying to get away from you, right Xandra?” she said, and as expected, this angered the dogs even more. “Any last words before you all turn into a pile of dog corpses?” she asked, looking directly at the one who spoke first. She could not help it. It was just in her nature to make fun of her enemies, unless they were more powerful than her, in which case she’d have to choose her words more carefully.

The brisk journey from the guild building to the forest was one filled with idle chatter as Xandra and Kaiser went about talking about things pertaining to just them. Their girl talk involved humorous banter and expressive content, earning joyous laughs from both of them. She stared at the vampire in disbelief as she joked about her periods, knowing full well she didn't get them. A pout made it's way onto her face. "Bitch, don't make fun of my misery like this." After all, unlike the vampire, the Bellan was a mere human who unfortunately had to suffer through the turmoils of nature which often results in pain and emotional drainage. However, she too was kidding. This was just girl talk and the ex-knight realized how compelling and freeing it was to have so. At her old job, she always maintained a professional relationship with the people around her. Now, she was getting closer and closer to her guild mates as the days went by and that bond of friendship was perhaps what ended her suffocation that seemed indestructible in the knighthood.

They delved deeper into the forest, walking for what felt like ages but only minutes had passed. It appeared that the lycans had let them do so, thinking they would have an advantage if the two mages were deep enough inside their territory but the women knew that it was far from the truth. They emerged from the darkness, taking their time as they seemed to want to try to intimidate the Daeva Eye members with words. At that thought, the Bellan couldn't help but scoff. A group of lycans surrounded them, similar to the ones they had encountered before. One of them stepped up and spoke, this time, sparing them the effort of having to ask for their leader. However, his words were far too foolish and as expected, earned a crude and sarcastic remark from the vampire to which the Bellan chuckled. "Yeah, totally. Can't believe they caught us." She trudged along the words spoken by her guild mistress. After all, it was only fair to anger them further. In that way, she realized that the vampire and herself were quite similar. Even the ex-knight had a habit of provoking her opponents sometimes. This time, nevertheless, she let her partner speak.

She could see those furry creatures with her limited vision in the dark. While she couldn't spot every hairy detail on their body, the one thing she could see was the rage in their eyes. They were clearly angry at the remarks that came their way. With the way they acted, she predicted on the basis of her previous encounters that would possible attack. Now, the real question stood about what the mage's course of action would be. Xandra embraced herself into a fighting stance, ready to take on any of them if they came at her and yet, she also kept her ears opened in case Kaiser decided to use another spell that would require her to get out of the way. Regardless, she was ready to take action.

Kaiser

Kaiser was definitely not prepared to hear the response from the lycans: “We don’t have any last words, because we’re not planning on dying!” said the top dog of the group, while probably not realising that they just repeated the same tactic that their dead friends used to jump Kaiser and Xandra. Although she did not really blame them, since she probably left no witness to her murder of the previous pack. Still, their inability to come up with interesting tactics just upset her so much she wanted to leave. However for the sake of earning reputation among the Dahlians, she had to finish the job. This time though, Kaiser decided to leave one of them alive, so that they could spread the word about the two of them and their actions, and probably lay off on killing more Dahlians as well as coming up with the same tactics.

“That’s alright, let’s just...” she began but stopped, too disappointed to really think of anything to say to werewolves that were going to die anyway, and then gave Xandra a look, “You know the drill.” She was referring to the previous time they were here, when she asked Xandra to steer clear so that she did not get hurt by Kaiser’s magic. This was like the cue for the lycans to charge towards her all at once, though that was a great advantage to her which would be unbeknownst to them of course. Kaiser would begin to cast her spells by opening her palm as soon as she was sure that Xandra was out of the way. She released a wave of crash energy with herself being the center, over an area that is eight meters in diameter. Since they were all charging at her, the area coverage of this spell should be enough to deal damage to them and send them flying. However, she wanted to finish them off quickly, so just a split second after that first spell, she opened her palm once again, causing another tremor to hit an area of sixteen meters in diameter and effectively knocking out the entire group of lycans.

Completely occupied with the group of dogs that she was dealing with, Kaiser was totally unaware that another one of them had snuck up to Xandra while she was about twenty meters away from her guildmistress, probably to try and take her as hostage.

It looked like history was repeating itself as the scene that presented itself before her eyes was oddly familiar, apart from the additional talking that was happening from the lycans' side. However, that didn't matter as she heaved a sigh, realizing the result of the events that were about to unfold were also going to be the exact same as the previous time. It was kind of sad when she thought about it. These reckless dogs that began attacking their citizens were going to be their own demise as they lead to their whole clan, or at least those of whom that resided in Aldenwald, to their deaths. Their continuous taunts, or wished for to be taunts, were only to going to result in their own death. It was a tragic thing to see, considering that the future was rather unpredictable and they women knew knew when they would have to make use of these creatures. After all, anything that has the potential to be used must be used. These lycans, if only they behaved the way that the guild wanted them to, would hold so much potential. It appeared as though simply killing them wouldn't help much. They had to spread fear. Unbeknownst to her was the fact that her guild mistress was thinking the same.

Upon hearing the words of the vampire, she simply nodded her head and jumped backwards as far as she could until she stopped approximately twenty meters away from the vampire. It was best for her to handle the group themselves. Her eyes glanced around, making note of the fact that there were five of them this time. It was odd considering that they chose to travel in even numbers the last time. From what she had already known, they were a species that moved in herds and valued their relationships a lot. However, there was still far too little that she knew about them so she shrugged, thinking of it as nothing more than her simply overthinking. She leaned against the tree, folding her arms over her chest as she watched Kaiser release two deadly attacks one after another, giving the lycans no time to react as she injured them back to back, leaving them as nothing more than a pile of unconscious bodies. Amidst the chaos that she saw before her, she flinched as the screeches that mingled with the rubles of the ground echoed through the vicinity, turning her body in an attempt to avoid the sound. And she was grateful that she did so as the sound of rustling leaves behind her became more prominent.

She quickly turned, uncrossing her arms enough to catch the silhouette of the lycan that aimed to attack her. It's claw came dashing forward in an attempt to strike her from the back. Quickly pushing herself off the tree bark against which she leaned, she pivoted on the heel of her foot and grabbed the claw with her left hand while her right one effectively aimed to chop against it's neck. Her hand collided against it's hairy throat, causing the lycan to lose it's balance as it lost it's balance. She immediately turned her body again to pull it's hand and threw it over her shoulder, onto the ground while she held it down.

"I think we should leave this one alive."

Kaiser

Once again, the vampire was able to handle the adult lycans that surrounded her. As they dropped like flies, one after another, onto the bloodied grass that carpeted the ground, she could feel the glory of having slain the werewolves just fuel her pride and superiority complex. However, it seemed that one little sneaky bastard had found the opportunity to sneak up her guildmate while she was busy with his buddies. Kaiser’s realisation of her inability to detect the wolf that was going for Xandra made her feel a little annoyed with herself, but when she noticed it and saw that her guildmate put down the sneaky mutt without needing much effort, a proud expression took over her features immediately. If you looked closely, you would probably notice the spark in her eyes as she grinned from ear to ear. “That was weirdly satisfying,” she mumbled to herself like a weirdo, thinking about her killing of the group of adult lycans, while she walked over to where Xandra was. The ex-knight suggested that they should leave this one alive, which was already what Kaiser was thinking of doing, so that he could spread the word about how fearful the ladies of Daeva Eye were. “Same wavelength, sis,” she said in response to what Xandra suggested. It was a mistake to not leave any witnesses the last time, but this time, the other lycans will know of their wrath.

Kaiser took a look at the lycan that Xandra had knocked out just to make sure that he would not be getting up anytime soon, but also making sure that he would wake up at some point later after they were gone. Once she was sure that he was alive and just unconscious, she nodded once as if to confirm with herself in her head. “Alright, guess that’s it for today.” The last time that they were here, it was not just one group of lycans, but two, although the first was a group of adults and the second were probably younger in age and probably had less experience than the adult group. However this time, no other lycans showed up even after a while since Kaiser wiped out the adults. She did not feel like lingering in the forest, which she told Xandra, and then led the way back out of the forest and back home. The vampire thought about how she had slain so many lycans on the way while she conversed with Xandra as usual. It seemed like the girls never ran out of things to talk about, even though Kaiser was usually a woman of few words. She discovered that she was naturally chatty when she was around her guildmates, but that was not something that happened with other people. She enjoyed it though, and the bond she had with her guildmates was something she would unknowingly treasure.

She crouched down, staring at the unconscious lycan that laid before her very eyes as she attempted to dust off the lingering feeling of it's fur that grazed her hand. Wiping her hands against each other, she would glance up upon hearing the rustling of the dry forest leaves which followed after the silence. As expected, she saw Kaiser walking towards her as a grin laced her lips. The forest was oddly quiet now, especially as an after the chaos that the vampire had ensued and yet, there she was, standing tall with a smile plastered on her face. It made the pink haired woman chuckle.

Upon hearing the words that escaped her guild mistress' lips, she stood back up, tilting herself to the side to look beyond her physique and at the group of dead lycans that littered the forest floor. "Probably not as satisfying as watching you destroy the others." Her words, although accompanied by a smile, were laced with the truth. Xandra truly admired the young vampire who always managed to prove her power in situations where it is needed. The pure ambition and the raw power that adorned her was what made her a truly great guild mistress. Despite being so young, she often proved herself to be above and beyond many. Her actions always managed to present a part of her personality which the Bellan was yet to discover.

Thanks to Kaiser, the ex-knight had discovered a new world without which, she could no longer imagine what life would be like. The freedom in the environment and pure connection she had with those around her was truly satisfying. She smirked upon noticing that the vampire was on the same wavelength as her. Leaving one of the lycans to encourage the spread of fear among them was perhaps the better idea and she was glad they both thought so. "In that case, I guess we're done here."

They would walk out the forest together, chatting along about various topics which allowed the conversation to sail smoothly. After all, it was another task well done by the guild.

Kaiser

Once the two of them returned to the guild, Kaiser would have to go up to her office and take care of some paperwork. The thought made her grumble audibly. “The worst part about being the guildmistress has to be handling the paperwork,” she whined. Although she just said that, she did not really mean it. Being a guildmistress meant a lot of responsibility, but she was not doing it because she was asked to. She took the responsibility knowing full well the weight of holding that position. Even if sometimes she got a little tired from completing the tasks that came with it, the thought that she was doing it for a reason always pushed her to keep going. Kaiser was a woman with a strong drive. If she wanted something, she would do everything in her power to get it, and that had been her way of life ever since she became a sorceress in Fiore, ever since she started depending on herself. Kaiser took it upon herself to be the main source of information for the guild, like a human database, always collecting intel that was brought to her by the guild members, and always sharing it with her most trusted guild members, who were the title bearers of the guild as well as the founding members. And while having conversations with them, she would always give them new information that had been passed to her, so that they were well-informed about matters outside of Daeva Eye.

Upon reaching the guildhall, Kaiser would part ways with Xandra, waving and bidding her farewell. “I’ll make sure the money gets transferred today,” she told her, since the last time it took a bit of time for the Dahlian officials to make the transfer. She was not sure if Xandra was agitated by this the last time, but she knew she was, due to her level of patience being close to nonexistent. Apparently since it was their first time to tackle this request, they were making sure that they had actually cleared the pack of lycans and were waiting on the authorized person to give them the ‘ok’ to make the transfer. The only reason Kaiser was being this lenient with matters such as this was because of her dedication to making a name for her guild. If they had a good relationship with the Dahlian officials, that was a plus for the guild. Despite the fact that there was an extremely destructive daemon loli in the guild, and Kaiser herself having killed countless Fiorians in the past, there were still the others who balanced the alignment scale for them. It was also a plus that most of the guild members knew how to go about business, and cleaning up any mess that could lead to painting a bad image for Daeva Eye, a skill that she herself was quite experienced in. She would also teach this to the new members who were sort of leaning to the dark side.

Kaiser sat in her office, fishing for the files that she would continue working on, and then laid them out on her huge desk. Being a neat freak, she always kept her desk tidy. Once she had laid out everything in front of her, she reached for the lacrima communication device and made a call to the officials of Dahlia City. Three painfully long rings sounded, and then they picked up. Kaiser informed them that they had once again cleared out another pack of wolves, and requested for the payment to be made on the same day, to herself and Xandra. The last time, apparently they were not happy about them killing a whole pack of wolves, so lied about leaving a few this time.

EXIT

Time passed within the blink of an eye as their chatter soon faded into nothingness upon arriving at the guild hall. Giving out a yawn which coincided with the dark sky that lingered above them, she bid her guild mistress farewell and stood there, watching the vampire go into her office. She stretched out her arms before recalling the piece of paper she had previously slipped into her pocket. Shoving it inside the pocket of her dress, she pulled it out before glancing over the contents once again. Hopefully, with their current strategy, the occurrence of the attacks that tormented the citizens would reduce drastically.

Shredding the piece of paper, she tossed the severed pieces into a bin as she made her way up the stairs. While their guild wasn't exactly overflowing with women, they had a decent amount of mages who had sworn their loyalty to Daeva Eye. Most of the time, everyone chose to hang around in the hall, chatting and catching up with mundane stuff that made them feel like a woman before it did a mage. After all, that was perhaps the beauty of this guild. She no longer felt that her entire life simply revolved around her job or her abilities as a mage. Making a quick pit stop at the hall, she would get something to drink before bidding a good night to any ladies that were within the vicinity.

Fatigue overcame her once she entered her room within the guild, causing her to drag her feet onto the plush bed and fall onto it. Unfortunately, it was merely physical and hence, her thoughts raced for what felt like hours before she found herself succumbing to the darkness in the room.
