I wonder if I should head to Orchidia? Introduce myself and such… Everything that she couldn’t afford to be without stuffed into a large pack that was mounted onto her back, Zoey Luciano found herself looking up at the timetable at the Baska Train Station, feeling just a little bit intimidated. Now finally ready to head out into the world and make a name for herself, as large engines belched drifting towers of steam into the sky beyond where she stood, the auburn angel found herself in a quandary.

Or maybe I should do a few jobs, earn a little good will and renown? Not lacking for options but rather overcome by them, it was like looking at a compass and finding that it had about a dozen needles on it, all pointing in different directions that might just offer her fortune and fame. Never having left the western realm of Fiore since she had arrived here a good dozen years ago now, though she had moved through several places on her path from Bosco the fair femme had been too young to remember them really, and felt like she had a world of opportunity waiting for her.

Would it be better to get to grips with the job, and the country? The stories she had heard of this making her want to spend the sum of money that she had been handed by her mother before leading on tickets for trains and rooms at inns, though Miss Luciano was looking to make a name for herself, she couldn’t help but feel like she was also on one big adventure now. The world her proverbial oyster and so many pearls in it to enjoy, perhaps it was the folly and fervour of youth that compelled the teen to seek out everything she could, as fast as she could, but it made it hard to decide where she wanted to go. Where she needed to go. Luckily, the youngster would soon get a little push in the right direction…

“It’s a pity the line doesn’t go all the way there, would save a lot of time…”

“What can you do, it’s not like we’re in the capital now?”

“Yeah, I don’t think Astera is that far either?”

The sound of voices catching the ear of the tangerine teen as she lingered in front of that timetable, still finding herself wrestling with her decision on where to place her future, Zoey couldn’t help but look over toward the souls that seemed to be leaving the station because of their loudness, and her curiosity. A pair of men seeming to walk along with a lone female, none of the number looked to be locals from what she could tell from both how they were dressed and how they spoke, the latter being the more obvious clue.

Adventurers? The trio dressed unusually really, while Miss Luciano wore something comfortable and cute but hardy enough she could feel at ease moving around in, this group seemed to be dressed for something quite different. One of the men wearing a breastplate and greaves whilst carrying a sword and shield strapped to his back, while the other stood in long, white robes and walked with a staff that carried a gem at its tip.

She’s… Pretty~ The girl founding out the little team as she wore a figure hugging set of leather and carried a fletch of arrows on her back, though it took a moment for the auburn angel to notice, she could see her ears were just a little bit pointed which added a whole new dimension of appeal to her image really. Not sure why really but Zoey finding just that touch of the exotic that that peak added something that seemed to loan a sense of majestic appeal to the looks of the girl, she couldn’t help but let her gaze linger just a little bit as they strolled down the stairs and then blushed as she found a keen gaze looking back at her.

“By the way, do either of you two know which way it is, from here?”

The gaze of the golden eyed girl shifting back to the board with the timetable both quickly and intensely when she found herself caught leering at the elf girl, as the trio continued to chatter among herself, Zoey couldn’t help but let herself be a bit nosy about their conversation. In part hoping that the girl or either of her friends didn’t mention noticing the ‘weirdo’ that was ogling the prettiest portion of their party, while this was most definitely true the blushing Baskan also found the bunch rather curious really.

“Nope, my first time here…”

“Mine too.”

Meeting mages and the like before in the form of her father’s friends and even a few as she went about her business in recent years, those creepy Phantoms included, there was something sort of fascinating in watching a little group like this in operation. In truth kind of dreaming of forming a little team of her own that she could go on adventures with ever since she began to entertain the idea of becoming a guild bound girl when she ‘grew up’, so far all the requests and missions that Miss Luciano had performed were solo. Mage’s somewhat rare in these parts and those with the skills to fight more often than not reaching for the security of a position in the Rune Knights, the tangerine teen was a lone wolf thus far and couldn’t help but envy that ‘pack’ feeling just a little bit.

“I thought not. Falcon Fang usually doesn’t get much business around here, does it…?”

Not even recognising the name of the guild that the group represented but still a little jealous of the connection that these strangers seemed to flaunt so readily, though Miss Luciano had plenty of friends growing up, most had outgrown their interest in adventure and discovery and settled down by this point. Moving into jobs in farming and business and whatever else Baska could provide, the redhead felt like the last ‘dreamer’ left in town and in a way that made her feel just a little bit lonely too…

“Hey, excuse me?” Moving forward out of an instinct that she did not quite understand really, as the group drifted past her out of the station and took a few steps nearer to the town, Miss Luciano slipped out and spoke loud in order to get their attention. Perhaps feeling a little bit self-conscious on account of how she had been caught gaping at the pretty elf among their number but at the same time feeling as if this was a little opportunity that had presented itself to her, the auburn angel shuffled away from the timetable and looked toward the little group she had found, filled with a desire to see what it was like as part of the ‘pack’.

“You guys are heading to Astera, right?” The trio that she called out to turning around a little bit slowly and looking toward her with a hint of suspicion at first, though the fair femme felt a little embarrassed at the fact that she had been snooping on the conversation of the little party, she moved a little closer to them all the same and confirmed their intent with a simple question. Maybe it was a little rude to be listening in on strangers, but this time, it might have been to their advantage really.

“Uh, yeah… You don’t happen to know the way, do you?”

The faces of these friends looking toward each other with a hint of confusion, though Zoey’s cheeks grew a little bit brighter when the elven girl looked toward her, it was a relief for the redhead when finally one of them spoke up and seemed to offer her the ultimate ‘in’ to getting a piece of the action she sought. The mage among the three seeming to be the most forward of them, while the others retained a sense of suspicion in their gaze, at least he seemed interested in engaging the young Baskan and expressing his ignorance as well. And that was something that the girl could help him with…

“Yeah, I’m from around these parts, and have taken the odd job there sometimes?” Miss Luciano nodding and a small smile of satisfaction spreading across her lips as she found a way in which her rural learning could help some people out, while it might have been an overstatement to say that she sometimes felt a little inferior or insecure about her education in a place like this, it always felt a little more rewarding to have that ‘country knowledge’ prove a good thing really. So many seeming to write off those from places in the middle of nowhere like this as bumpkins, though there might have been a twang to the accents of the people around here, that didn’t make them idiots and one might even reckon that there was a thing or two they knew more on than stuck up city folk as well.

“Oh? Are you from a guild too? You’re pretty young…”

“Yeah, Lamia Scale…” The young man to whom she spoke seeming to be impressed but retaining a sense of suspicion about what Zoey told him, as if to prove herself, the auburn angel lifted up her left hand and showed off the little mark she had upon the back of it. The ‘brand’ she carried having no small weight no matter what part of the world one was in, the pink picture of a mermaid was something that the redhead had been quite delighted to receive only recently, and now she felt a resurgence of that pride when she saw the reaction it inspired.

“You wanna travel together to Astera, maybe?” The eyes of these explorers growing wider as they saw and recognised the symbol of one of Fiore’s ‘big three’ guilds adorned upon the paw of the auburn angel, maybe it was sense of superiority or some other impetus, but the golden girl couldn’t help but smile and feel just a little more confident as she saw them gape in response to it.
“If you want, I can show you the way…” Pleased with the result of course and happy to help these people out, though they were strangers to her it seemed a nice start to her lifelong adventure to take her first step alongside a group of people like herself, and Miss Luciano also knew that her road would be a lot shorter if she had folk to keep her company along it…
