Beyond The Sun & Stars

The harsh gales of Crocus blew through the land, whisking away strands of cerulean hair that framed her pale face. Silver pools ran along the lines written on the brittle yellow pages of the novel that she had been reading, with her brows creased into the middle of her forehead in concentration. The young maiden released a long sigh and flipped over the remaining page of the book before shifting her attention back to the bustling crowd. The end of the book had brought her back to reality and Snow failed to realize she had been sitting on the bench for over 5 hours, completely engrossed in the novel. ”What a shame.” she murmured to none other than herself, a silver of emotion in those cool eyes and her features solemn by the fact that a novel she had come to enjoy was finally over. She stowed away the book in her bag and her eyes darted across the streets of Crocus that had became so congested over the past few hours.

Farmers and street vendors stood beside their wagons, bellowing out, “Apples, the best apples, cheap at twice the price”, and, “Melons, sweet as honey.” The sun mercilessly shone down on the town and the clouds filled up the empyreans above. Beads of sweat glistened on everyone’s forehead and faces turned flushed due to the heat. Some held a hand against their forehead to shield themselves from the sun, others made fans out of newspapers and magazines. There was not a single empty space between the stalls. For a brief moment, the maiden continued to watch the actions of random strangers that walked past her. Pushing herself off the bench, Snow grabbed the bag and draped it over her shoulder and slid past the crowd.

The umbrella protected her from the blazing heat as she strolled towards the fountain that was right across her. The marble stones that adorned the fountain itself glistened underneath the sunlight and the sound of water gushing out from the fountain filled her ears. There was a saying that if a coin was thrown into the fountain, their wishes would come true. Perhaps Snow was foolish enough to heed the old sayings. She fetched a coin that was lying around in her bag and closed her eyes before tossing it into the water. The water that splashed from the weight of the coin soaked her heels barely and watched as her wish sank towards the bottom of the fountain.

cold as ice swift as wind the whole world i'll acquire

The warm wind blew across the land of Magnolia and while it wasn’t the hottest days, nor the coldest of the season, the freezing temperatures had already long drifted away to make way for the next season. It was the promise of winter lifting, the end of grey bitter days, which she loved. Ahead yawned the spring, blossoms and blooms. Excitement could be heard from the whispers of the wind as the citizens prepared themselves for the changing seasons to come. The city folk, young and old, walked with a new bounce in their stride, heads held high to take in the first kiss of spring warmth. Spring was the perfect weather for people—neither too cold nor too hot, but her favourite was the winter. There was a reason why she was named ’Snowflake’ after all, and it was all due to her love for the cold weather and the snow.

The blade glistened underneath the golden rays that shone down upon the city, its metallic surfaces reflecting any possible light that almost blinded her eyes. What a beauty. Snowflake could hear herself going breathless for a short second, her fingers idly glossing over the carves and emboss that were engraved into the piece. She was grateful; more than grateful for this particular give. It wasn’t hers to begin with, but Finn’s—a fellow guild mate of hers, one whom she trusts with her own life. The man was someone very dear to her, almost as if he was her own brother, albeit, she had lost contact with him ever since their last rendezvous at the Baskan Church where he granted her a parting gift—the sword—before he departed for a long mission.

I can only wish for your safe return.

The frosty sculptress gazed beyond her, lost in her own thoughts that ran wild in her head and finally settled onto the sword that rested on her lap. Wind whipped her hair back forcefully, revealing her silver hair that was cut short into a bob, and her eyes almost the same colour as the empyreans above her. With one objective in mind, the woman pushed herself off the chair and vanished into the horde of people that gathered within the vicinity with a swift of her white cloak. The sword that was draped over her shoulders would release a clank every now and then as the woman strutted through the streets of Magnolia. It was crowded, way too crowded for her comfort. The Ice wizard wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the fact that she wanted to polish and refurbish her sword to perfection as soon as possible.
