Overall: Genjiro is an elderly man who despite his old age is still physically fit having kept himself in shape through long hours of hard work. His body is littered with scars some worse than others from a long history. Genjiro's has narrow eyes always appearing to be shut. A long white beard extends from his chin and is kept bound together with purple string. He has a long downwards mustache to accompany his beard that reaches down to his chest, while his beard is waist length, showing that he had taken a great many years to grow it. With his beard and mustache being the only hair he has left Genjiro keeps them immaculately groomed.

Personality

Personality:  Genjiro is a soft and rarely spoken individual often keeping his thoughts to himself. He will speak in short words mostly unless he finds it necessary to expand. He is a man of great patience often waiting days on end even weeks, having been a farmer in a former life taught him so. He is a man of hard work, he will not take the easy way when doing a task but will complete it to the letter putting in the maximum amount of effort even for small chores. He does not slack off even more so in his old age, he can be seen as still quite spry and active. He does not let his old age get to him pushing past the limitations of his current state. What he lacks in youth Genjiro makes up for with experience. He has a wisened mind grafted from years spent as a humble farmer, a soldier and a mercenary now as a mage. Due to years of experience, Genjiro very rarely shows any sign of distress or surprise, usually responding by opening one or both of his eyes, which are partially closed slits for the majority of the time.

Many of Genjiro's age would prefer to stick to their old ways, but not Genjiro he is an old dog but he always looking to learn new tricks. If Genjiro does not know something he will actively seek to learn it, often seeking the help of others as he is not afraid to ask for assistance. He sees no point in keeping it to himself if he does not understand and will often ask questions when someone alights his curiosity. When his curiosity is peaked its almost like he becomes a little kid wanting to know everything about it probing and poking every possibility.

Genjiro although he has served as a soldier in the military and later as a mercenary he detests killing and will rarely partake in the act, restraining himself from landing killing blows. He believes he has killed enough in the past and wishes no more death unless absolutely necessary. While he detests killing, it does not make him soft hearted, he is well awae that there are people in this world who should not be allowed to live and will not hold back.

Likes:

  • Hard Work: Genjiro values the idle of Hard Work, pushing for what you want through sheer effort without quitting or taking a shortcut. He highly appreciates this value and follows it to the letter, and is bound to get along with those who follow the same value.
  • Smoking: As an old man, Genjiro naturally has his vice in order to deal with the experiences of the past. The vice Genjiro took up was smoking, specifically the pipe and the cigar often switching between the two. The old relic can often be seen taking a puff on one or the other.

Dislikes:

  • Killing: Genjiro is someone that abhors killing, he will often withhold his hand from delivering a killing blow, even fighting with a restrained strength to avoid removing the life from another. However even though he detests killing, it does not mean he is against it when the time comes he will deliver a killing blow. But unless absolutely necessary he will not kill, even stopping others from taking a life at the risk of his own.
  • Child Abuse: Genjiro has a soft heart for children and would never dream of bringing harm to a child. That is why he cannot stand the act of abusing a child in any shape of form whether ie be physical or physchological.

Motivations:

  • Learning New Things: Genjiro is motivated in life to continue on and keep expanding his knowledge base. Genjiro doesn't act as if he knows everything as he doesn't but he is always looking to expand what he knows. Genjiro is always interested in new things wanting to learn and study them regardless of being an old dog. It may take time for him to understand but he will keep at it until he does.

Fears:

  • Death: Like most people, Genjiro has an innate fear of death, while this does not hold him back he often worries about it. He does not want his time to pass even though it grows closer, but he is not the type to do whatever it takes to prevent this, he knows he will someday die but he fears what is on the other side.
  • Killing: Genjiro is not afraid of killing per say, the act of killing he is fine with, it is the act of killing the innocent that fills him with a fear. As a soldier he has done horrible things in the name of his country that give him recurring nightmares to this day. He fears the taking of a life that did not deserve to die.

History

History: Genjiro was born in a simple farming community far from Orchidia in the middle of nowhere. The relic was born into a generation of farmers who had long toiled away the land allowing life to be brought forth. It would eventually be Genjiro's duty to take over the land and continue on with the work of his parents. He was a lively baby always giggling and laughing, rarely did he cry. His parents often thought he was the sun itself with how brightly he shined. Genjiro could not be described as a fast or slow learner, going along at his own pace developing like any other child would. Eventually learning to crawl, walk and speak. Going through the motions of life with a caring family.

Being raised on a farm was a simple yet hard life. Every morning once Genjiro turned five he would assist his folks with the daily chores, rising at five and accompanying them. He would help feed the chooks, tend to the cows, pigs and sheep with his father, before tending to the growing garden and orchard with his mother and their hired help. By nine in the morning it would be off to school with Genjiro where he would begin his lessons in the small town school with the rest of the children. After he would return to do his homework and assist in whatever chores where needed. Working the land and tending the animals Genjiro learned the value of hard work as with everyday he aided his parents genjiro would earn a pocket change. His father helped him to learn to save his pennies instead of spending them all at once. Teaching Genjiro the value of saving. Time passed and like any young adult in his teenage years, Genjiro found love and made friends.

Genjiro's first love came when he was just fifteen years of age, a young lass from the nieghbouring farm named Serena. Genjiro was a mess of emotions trying to find the right words, before asking his father for advice. His father told him if he kept it bottled up he would regret it, that he should had no regrets and go for what he wanted. Taking his fathers words to heart Genjiro confronted Serena and confesse his love, it was the start of a new world for Genjiro. She became his highschool sweet heart going to prom and dances together. However it was not to last as Serena's family was moving away to Crocus to start a new life. Genjiro's heart broke as they said their goodbyes and at the age of eighteen he had lost his first love.

Genjiro turned his focus to the farm but as a year passed, recruiters for the Foire Army began visiting the tiny communities eventually arriving at his. Genjiro was intrigued by the offer, it was something new and he only knew the farming life. He put up his pitchfork and persuade his parents to let him join, at first they were reluctant but after persuading them Genjiro joined the army. Genjiro was conscripted into the Fiore Military service for three years of training followed by nine years of active duty, nine years of service but it wouldn't be for naught as not only would he earn a large wealth of money but he would learn valuable skills.

As a young farm boy joining the military was a new experience for Genjiro. He spent three long years learning survival skills, military drills, strategies and how to wield a weapon. He learned swordsmanship, spearmanship, archery, horseback riding even unarmed combat all to expand his knowledge. Genjiro although he struggled he worked hard and at the end of his training graduated becoming a private in the military beginning his twelve year service. With no wars, Genjiro and the squad he was assigned to were often placed on guard duty or tasked with eliminating low rank bandits and monsters. The first time Genjiro took another human life he would never forget it, the moment his sword cut into the flesh of their neck and those eyes staring back at him, it gave him nightmares. Gradually he became accustom but still it haunted him with each life he took.

By the eight year of service, something change he got a new squad leader. This squad leader could only be described as scum, he took bribes and did as he pleased. He set his men onto innocent villagers claiming them to be rebels, Genjiro and his team were non the wiser. They though they were doing work for the army. For one full year this continued, until Genjiro learned the truth, but it was to late. The military surrounded them taking them all captive and trialed them in a military court of law. Every last one of them was court martials and every penny that had earned was stripped from them. Genjiro was kicked out of the army, dishonoured he did not wish to return home.

He fled leaving and taking up arms as a mercenary. He joined a rag tag group. For the next ten years Genjiro worked all over Fiore travelling great distances to prefer a variety of odd jobs from guard duty, item retrieval, hostage rescue, kidnapping, torture, assassination even sabotage all for a paycheck to build up his wealth. Genjiro took a number of lives as all he came to care about was money. It was during that time he gained a fondness for eastern clothing. By now he was thirty-nine years of life and his body was covered in scars from battle. His mercenary group joined up with a camp of bandits becoming one with them, no longer was Genjiro a mercenary but a heartless bandit, but what he saw began to haunt him once more.

As a Bandit Genjiro witnessed many horrors that he regrets no stopping. Rape, murder, theft, torture it was all horrible. he had left the army dishonoured, doing many scrupulous tasks as a Mercenary but that he could stomach as he never saw the horrors he saw as a bandit. For a year he did nothing, staying quiet but eventually he could not longer stand it. At forty years of age he peformed a coup d'etat, persuading a number of bandits to his side under the pretence of taking over. He swept through the camp at night claiming many lives and burning the encampment to dust. Those bandits who sided with him, he turned on them the moment the task was down, drawing his blade after the party. he struck down his drunk foes bathing himself in blood and left deciding to return home.

Genjiros return home was not a happy one as he came to learn his parents had passed away. They had him in their late forties and passed away three years ago. The town folk had attempted to track Genjiro down to let him know but every attempt had failed. Stricken with grief Genjiro went into solitary for a week. He thought long and hard eventually deciding to take over his parents farm like they had wanted.

For the next forty odd years, Genjiro tilled at the land becoming a simple farmer, no longer a killer. But he began to grow wrestles wanting more out of life. In his small community he began visiting the library more in those years reading by night, learning all he could, eventually find a book on magic. He was old by then in his late seventies, he shouldn't even think about trying to learn magic. But the thought pulled at him, making he could change. He studied long and hard using sheer effort. His body was old and it should have been impossible, but through sheer determination, effort and hard work, Genjiro formed a spark. When he finally found his magic, he set alight the sitting room burning it down before put it out. Genjiro could only laugh as he went back to his studies. By the age of 85 and aftr 7 long years of intense study Genjiro had finally gotten a grip on magic, becoming one with the element of fire. He sold his childhood farm, taking what money he had and left to explore the world and learn new things.
