What lies beneath [Quest: Nathaniel] Empty Sun Jan 02, 2022 9:48 am

Nathaniel Hikyuu
Beneath a church in the middle of western Fiore and covered in head to toe in a black jumpsuit, Nathaniel felt a little out of sorts. Something about this all made him feel a little uneasy but he was always told that the spirits were to be respected, not feared. As the words of wisdom swam through his head he calmed, nerves strengthening and his posture relaxing as he walked through the halls as silently as he could. His eyes fixated on the broken vases, in the catacomb like structures deep beneath the churches grounds and wondered whether or not building a holy city here was a good idea. Fiore graveyards always made him feel very uncomfortable.

The boy continued until he heard whimpering down the hall, pausing for a moment he spun around slowly, the sound was coming from behind him not in front of him. How could he have walked past the individual without even noticing? He turned to see nothing, met with cackling and the echoing of a voice throughout the hallway Nathaniel raised a brow, though he did not feel afraid. He was more curious than anything. He assumed it was time to play with whatever was lurking in this church.

Nathaniel felt no ill-intent from the being, he didn't actually feel very uneasy at all anymore as the voice echoed and boom from almost nowhere yet everywhere at once. It then faded again, a girl, pale blue in color, appeared before him, clutching her head and saying 'no' over and over within the dark structure. Approaching, Nathaniel crouched in front of her and tilted his head, inquiring whether or not she was okay or not. It wasn't anything more than another moment before Nathaniel was pounced upon, pinned to the ground and the girl began growling over his face. Nat blinked twice and without so much as an ounce of fighting smiled at her warmly, "Long night, huh?" He questioned as he looked at her respectfully, shocking her a bit and causing her to backpedal momentarily.

She wondered why he wasn't afraid to which Nathaniel responded spirits are to be respected, not harmed. He opened his arms and without a hint of fear said to her, "Do your worst."

Nathaniel found her curling up on the ground instead, she cried, she cursed she did not know what to do next and this confused both her, apparently, and Nathaniel as well. He sat up, still grounded after his encounter and her curling up just in front of him. He crawled over and sat next to her as she cried, and cried and cried, staring at the ceiling the whole time as she whimpered as not to be rude. "It's just so nice to have company." He said, her teary eyes turning to him briefly before she teared up some more, "cry as long as you need I'll be right here waiting." The girl expected to be feared, to be shunned and she cried for awhile longer before their encounter evolved into a conversation.

She had apparently always been feared and disliked by her community, they locked her in here as a child and hoped she would somehow come to grips and be saved by the grace of god but she didn't she died here. No one came looking for her and seeing a spirit made many run in agony, she was in pain, she felt unloved and eventually began to act the part in hopes of filling the void inside her. Nathaniel explained that he wouldn't show her anything but admiration, he couldn't imagine being in this state for so long and being so uncomfortable in her own skin. He offered to take her somewhere besides the church, somewhere he had another friend he had met recently and might enjoy her company.

Together the two of them left the old church.
