Jin moved throughout the Baska streets with his mask on and his eyes straight ahead. He had received word earlier that Mattoro wanted to meet with him. An oddity was that he did not want to meet him at their shack but within the city itself instead. Jin wondered if Mattoro and his crew had come up with a way to deal with Kalaus and Giroud. Excited at the prospect of finally getting his hands dirty, Jin quickens his pace.

Before long, he spots Mattoro’s imposing figure within the crowd. The man seemed to be deep in thought and completely oblivious to his surroundings. A dark expression clouded his face. As he notices Jin, a small smile appears across his face before reverting back into a scowl. “My friend…”he says as he shakes Jin’s hand. He motions for Jin to follow as the two of them make their way down the street. The two walk in relative silence as they move down an alleyway. Mattoro, once he is sure they were not followed, moves towards Jin and begins to converse. “With the information you received from Frankan, tonight is the perfect night to strike. Today will be the last day that bastard Kalaus draws a breath.

You want me to do what?” Jin says with a mixture of disgust and irritation in his voice. Mattoro sighs as he leans against the wall, his eyes darting towards the now slowly descending sun. “Poison him. I know it’s not your usual M.O. but this has to be handled a certain way. It’s no surprise of my hatred of that man. Everyone in Baska knows of it. If he is beaten to death and left to rot or we dispose of the body, that will lead to questions. The answers to those questions could be traced back to my people. I don’t want them to suffer any additional hardships because of that man. This is the only way.” Jin sneers in annoyance but recognizes Mattoro’s point. For things to work, for him to finally have some measure of revenge against the men that wronged them, this was the only way.

Finally relenting, Jin extends his hand out towards Mattoro. “I’m glad you know that I detest actions such as this. However, I made a promise to you that I would help you carry out your justified revenge. Give me the poison. I’ll handle the rest.” A smile spreads across Mattoro’s face as he quickly reaches into his bag and retrieves a small vial of poison before handing it towards Jin. Jin quickly pockets the vial before turning to leave the alleyway. “Thanks to the information we got from Frankan, he’ll be at the pub down the street after his meeting is finished. You’ll have about three hours until then so spend them how you wish. Just slip that into the drink and everything will take care of itself.” Jin nods before exiting the alleyway and makes his way towards the pub.

Two hours later, after helping out another contact on a separate job, Jin finds himself at the pub. He was increasingly irritated by the most recent events and figured he could have a drink. He slowly steps inside and surveys the surroundings. The smell of various alcoholic beverages and the putrid smell of vomit filled the area. Ignoring it for the moment, Jin moves to the bar and sits down. The waitress spots him and flashes a coy smile before sauntering over towards him. “Hi hon, what are you having?” “Give me your strongest drink and some shots. Keep them coming.”  She smiles and quickly brings back his request, watching in amazement as the man downs the drink in one gulp. Every five minutes she would continue to bring shot after shot, Jin easily knocking back the drinks.

A few minutes later and the door swings open and reveals Jin’s target entering. Kalaus’ movements were sluggish and a scowl was on his face as he moved to an empty seat on the far end of the bar. The waitress, who was currently in the middle of pouring another round of shots for Jin, quickly acknowledges him. “I’ll be right with you!” she says as she moves towards Jin. “Fucking useless. Just hurry the fuck up woman. The longer I’m sober the more irritated I’ll get.” A frown spreads across her face as she quickly gets rid of it and reverts back to her usual persona. As she places the shot down and turns to service Kalaus, a raise of Jin’s hand stops her. She looks at him expectantly as he reaches into his bag and pulls out a sack of jewels. The waitress’s eyes widen as she glances in the bag and sees its contents. It was at least ten times her salary. Keep his eyes forward while he downed the shot, he begins to speak. “If you see anything out of the ordinary tonight, ignore it.” Her eyes dart while she attempts to contemplate what he means but assumes she’ll know when it happens. Nodding and thanking him silently, she takes the sack and goes to attend to Kalaus. He sighed as the first part of his job had been completed, now he needed to wait.

Those mines are literal gold mines. They’ve made me the richest motherfucker in Baska! No one can touch me!” Kalaus bellows as he drunkenly stands on a bar stool. He was two hours into his drinking binge and was completely wasted. He sang, he danced, he removed and subsequently put back on his clothing. At the moment, he was currently flaunting his money and purchasing rounds and rounds of alcohol for everyone in attendance. While most were annoyed with his antics, the fact that they were getting drunk for free assuaged any issues. Each time he came back for a drink, he absentmindedly moved closer and closer towards Jin, making his job that much easier.

Woman! Make me a drink.” Kalaus screams as he moves to the back of the pub to greet and dance with a friend who had recently come in. The waitress sneers in disgust as she complies with the request and forcefully places the drink down on the counter to await its owner. Jin glances back and sees that Kalaus is far too concerned with his friend, and the drink in his hand, to notice anything happening at the bar. Now was the time to act. He reaches in his pocket and retrieves the vial of poison and discreetly pours it into the drink. The waitress, watching his every movement, realizes that this is what he meant earlier. She flashes him a knowing smile as he finishes before giving him another round of shots. “This one is on the house.” She whispers before returning to her station.

Kalaus quickly comes over and downs the spiked drink before belting out a song. He gets a few lines in before he suddenly stops. His eyes widen and he clutches his chest. He attempts to speak before he falls to the ground and starts foaming at the mouth. Within seconds, the man is dead. A crowd rushes over towards him, the waitress from before feigning concern as she calls for help. As they clamor around the now deceased man, Jin quickly sneaks away and heads out towards Mattoro.

That bastard is dead.” Mattoro proudly announces. He offers Jin a seat and a drink both of which Jin declines. Mattoro, still satisfied, eases back into his seat with a comfortable smile on his face. “I wish that I could have been there to see his face. To see his miserable face as the light fades from his beady eyes. You’ve done us a great favor Jin.” “I told you, I am committed to giving you the revenge you seek. I am sticking to that.” Mattoro smiles again as he gets up and hands Jin a sack of jewels. “Thank you, my friend. Thank you. Once I figure out how to deal with Giroud, I’ll let you know.
