Sage Meilyr
It was night time and it was freezing cold. Luckily Sage had prepared for the weather by wearing layers of clothes along with his white cloak that he is often not seen without. The day before, he had accepted a request from the request board at the center of the town. The request he picked this time was an easy one, all he had to do was guard a caravan that belongs to a merchant who constantly travel around, Augustus Travalar. As a merchant that travels a lot he must have been prepared for thieves and whatnot as they are pretty common to steal especially in empty travel roads where there are nobody around to defend you. He already hired mercenaries to protect himself from possible assassins and some were sent to protect a caravan that was on its way to Hargeon. So Augustus needed someone to protect the caravan that was there in Era. Sage believed that he didn't hire that much mages or mercenaries for this caravan as they were in the city of rune knights after all.

The caravan was located in a pretty shady caravan parking spot. It was accessible to the public and was connected to many streets and alleys. It was a pretty open space if you ask Sage. So there he was, standing opposite of the caravan, his arms crossed to keep himself warm from the cold weather, looking around, finding anything that he should be suspicious of. It was quite dark so he couldn't see things far away that clear. The orange light that was given off by the streetlamp was enough for Sage to make out silhouettes of people walking by the streets. Though after a few hours things really quite down and the streets was empty, no sign of life could be seen. It wasn't anything suspicious yet it was something normal as everybody would've been tired working during the day and now they must've been resting inside their cozy home with their family. But not for Sage he had to work for that night which he just accepted as he really need the money to survive. He only have a couple more jewels that would last him a few more days, thus the reason he took on the request.

Sage Meilyr
As the night went on, Sage could hear something. He was not sure of where the sound came from. It sounded like whispers, he could only hear it because the night was so quite. He looked around the area but he saw no movement at all. He then wondered if it was his mind playing games on him and that he went mad because all he did all night was just standing and patrolling the caravan for hours straight. He could not imagine how some people does this every night. But he will be rewarded the next morning so all he gotta do was just suck it in and focus. He checked the parking area again, this time with intense focus despite him feeling all sleepy. Then the mysterious noise grew louder, he must be closer. Sage then found one of the caravan moving. Adrenaline was pumped in his body and spread all over his body making him more focused on the task at hand and made his gut shrink. What could be causing the caravan to move and what was causing the noises. He peeked into the caravan, keeping a low profile while at it. Inside he could see a pair of couple giggling like little children and flirting like fools. He then let out a loud sigh and went back to his patrol stand. All that worrying was for nothing.

The night went on without any suspicious things, in fact there was literally nothing that happened that Sage could give report to. Then he could see the sky in the horizon starting to change into a shade of purple and red. The sun was rising. For a moment, he was glad he took this job, at least it gave some time to himself to think about stuff and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunrise. He then saw a silhouette walking towards him at the corner of his eyes, he turned his head to see who it was. The man looked buffer than your average man and he had an axe strapped on his back. Despite his look Sage didn't feel like the man was a harm to be worried about. When the man was in talking distance to Sage he told him that he was one of Augustus' mercenaries and he took out a sack of jewels which he handed to Sage. Sage smiled at the man with tired eyes and said his thanks. Walking back home afterwards looking forward to his comfy bed.
