WORDS: 270 |  ZZZZZZZZ

“Mmmmmnnnnnnnn…” A low groan sounding from a heap of blankets and pillows, steadily the mind of Miss Zoey Luciano returned to the realm of waking, though it was not too speedy in this. The warmth and scent of her bed something that seemed to offer such a remarkably soothing quality, the blonde boscosi felt it terribly hard to summon the strength to pull her sleepy shape away from it, wishing that she could just spend the whole day nestled like a happy little kitten. Unfortunately, she could not. Or rather, she knew that she should not.

I probably shouldn’t spend all of my day off in bed, should I…? Rolling onto her back with her eyes barely parted, after a second or two of slightly blurry vision through the squint through which she was starting, Zoey opened her eyes fully and sighed. The glittering green of her irises looking up toward the ceiling of a room that she had stared up at on more occasions than she could count, with school over for the weekend and her mother giving her the whole day off, the golden haired girl contemplated what she could do with her day.

But five more minutes of this… Won’t kill me~ Certainly the option of snoozing it away seeming rather appealing to a fifteen year old girl right now, despite the fact that such a slovenly purpose seemed so very sweet, it was also a waste of a gift like this really. However, a little more enjoyment couldn’t hurt anyone, now could it? The decision lay in the hands of Miss Luciano right now, and right now, Miss Luciano needed a little more beauty sleep before she was ready to face whatever the day ahead of her might hold…

“Phoooo… Phooooo…” The sun having climbed quite high into the sky by the time that Zoey had managed to extract herself from the cruel trap known to some as a ‘bed’, as she drew to a panting halt and wiped her brow, she looked up toward the cheery fellow above her and basked in the bright warmth that it gave off. Always feeling a little lighter and brighter when she felt that benevolent force of light above her, as the golden haired girl tried to steady her breathing a little before taking a sip from the nice, cold bottle of water she had brought with her, she looked around herself and felt rather proud with the distance she had come.

Steadily getting better at this~ Flicking the loose ponytail that she had tied her bright locks into softly as she looked at the small sight that was her hometown by this point, as she stood atop a nice steep hill, the town known as Baska looked tiny with the perspective she now had.
A little less worn out than last month~[/color] The wooden buildings that made up the marketplace and homes now looking smaller than thimbles to the glittering green eyes of the girl, she smiled at her achievement and dabbed her brow softly with the sleeve of the jacket she was wearing.

Looks like it’s gonna be a good day today~ I’ll see what the guys are up to when I’m done here~? It warm today but the high places around Baska always having a hint of chill about them, though she was glistening with a little more exertion than she intended and her cheeks were a little rosier than she had guessed they would be, Miss Luciano was reluctant to remove her coat just yet. The ensemble she wore meant for more than simple jogging, the girl had many plans for her day off, and they would get off to a bright start that was fore certain…

“Haaa… Haaa… Haaaaaa…” The coat that she was wearing bound across her quite tightly by the time that she reached her destination, Miss Luciano couldn’t help but wheeze as a chilly mountain wind whipped at her hair and made the tail in it flutter about wildly. The fitness of the femme escalating slowly but her body not prepared to jog the entire distance to this spot from town, by the time that she had made it to her new locale Baska was barely more than a matchbox behind her, though that was to be expected given the fact that she had running for the best part of an hour.

“Whew~” Taking another long draw on her drink once she managed to catch her breath a little, as perspiration ran down both the bottle and the body of the blonde, she let loose a loud breath and shook herself out as she looked at her surroundings. The mountain path not the easiest but worth it, with sheer walls surrounding the site that the young climber had found one could easily overlook the tiny little valley that Zoey looked over.

That’s a sight for sore eyes~ A small stream flowing through the centre of a patch that was filled with grass and dotted with bushy trees that by now bloomed with greenery, though the place wasn’t much bigger than a pitch on which folk might play the average ball-based sport, it was wonderful all the same. Like a garden that had been tucked away from the world by an angel or some other heavenly creature who wanted to take a stroll through the bounty of nature, though when she had first found it Muss Luciano had been more excited about finding a spot that was all ‘hers’, she had found a new sense of appreciation for her lush surroundings as she grew older and wiser…

“It’s been a while~” A slice of nature that had been hidden away by the trickiness of the path to reach it, at least by human means, the place was largely deserted aside from the presence of a few lovely animals. Not the place for deer which felt perhaps a shame but a few of goats munching on the grass that grew here with their usual casual indifference, though they showed little sign of recognition toward her, Zoey couldn’t help but giggle and throw a little wave toward the fuzzy chinned ‘friends’ she had made up here. Though, these weren’t the only acquaintances that had stopped by the spot with the blonde, on occasion at least.

I wonder if any of the other guys come here these days~? First discovering this heavenly hideaway when she had been much younger and smaller, while it had taken a lot of trekking and exploring in times of fewer responsibilities, Miss Luciano had first laid eyes on her little ‘Eden’ while adventuring with her pals many years past, and couldn’t help but ponder who of that group still remembered it.

It would be funny if they came today, wouldn’t it? The tides of time pulling some apart and pushing others together, in the years since then some had drifted away from her and been replaced by new faces, but the fair femme hoped that they all remembered the adventures that they had together with a smile, like she did. Certainly the spot full of memories for her,  in the heat of summer her little ‘gang’ had spent half of the days off they got trekking here to hang out with each other away from the prying eyes of grownups, making all sorts of discoveries and fun together.

I almost hope they do~ Today not about that but the recollection certainly helping her spirits, because of this Zoey took a few moments to enjoy the memories she had as she strolled through that grass before getting down to business, letting the bliss of her recollections flood her with happiness and strength…

Ok now… Concentrate~ Letting out a slow and steady sigh as she closed her eyes, the little bout of reminiscence over and ‘business’ occupying her attention, Miss Luciano let her breathing even out as she focused her mind and more importantly her mana. The true purpose of her visit to this place in order to find a little privacy in order to polish up her magical skills a little bit, while basic spells might have been easy enough to find a quiet meadow or something, given the fiercer emphasis of the feats she wished to perform this place was better for that. Not wishing to scare the hell out of some random farmer or create a stampede after all, with the only other beings here being the goats and a few birds that fluttered around and experience telling the blonde that they were rather unflappable really, she proceeded with her little plan and performed a little warm up in order to ease both herself and her company into what she was doing.

“Hehehehehe~ That’s the stuff~” Slowly opening her eyes as she summoned her reserves of mana and let it flow through her body as steadily as the clear blue stream nearby, as she looked at herself Zoey smiled as she saw her form being suffused with light, giving off a glow that illuminated both her and the area that surrounded her. This a pretty basic application of light magic of course but the father of this Boscosi born Baskan always reminding her that the basics were far more important than any one more powerful spell, the emerald eyed lass liked to work from the ground up as she practiced, humming softly as she let the brightness she was highlighting grow weaker and stronger in certain parts of her body before getting a little more ambitious….

“Ohohoho~ What’s this~?” Chuckling as she began to mould the meagre amount of mana that she was giving off and add a little shape to it, with a snicker and a broad smile the teen began to have a little fun with the magic that she created, forming harmless little ‘balls’ of light around herself from the aura she had generated and letting them drift around her. Turning her head toward the goats with whom she was sharing this peaceful little valley in a state of mock astonishment, Zoey couldn’t help but grin as she guided the countless little lights that she had created around in a slow circle, remembering all the times she had seen people smile at the simple spell she was performing right now.

“Fireflies in the daylight?” The act of amazement that she was putting on continuing as she took one step and then another toward her animal audience, while the goats did not look particularly intrigued or even slightly interested in what she was doing, Miss Luciano did not feel particularly perturbed by this fact. Usually a tough crowd and for the most part the little routine she performed one that she practised more for herself than anything, with a hum to a tune that she had heard her older sister singing not too long ago the blonde broke into a little visual enactment. Turning around with purposeful steps as she whipped the cloud of ‘fireflies’ along with her via the use of one of her dainty digits, the damsel began to dance in a largely improvised fashion as she pulled a second paw into her performance piece, biting her lip softly as she separated the collection of lights into two groups and began to make them whirl around and interact with one another…

“Watch as it moves~” Humming as she stepped in circles and made her fireflies flow around like gatherings of shooting stars, she crossed them over in a looping pattern and intertwined the motions to create a path of glittering light that rather resembled the sign for infinity but she was just getting warmed up really.
“Never still, always dancing~” More and more swept up into the improvised show that she had created now that she was feeling her magic flowing nicely, Zoey rolled her shoulders from side to side and back and forth as she danced with her light, making the path that her glowing balls travelled more and more complex as if she was showing off for some invisible crowd around her, idly wondering if she could make a ‘show’ of something like this much in the same way that Cecelia did with her beautiful voice. Folk certainly seeming to be entertained with her feats that she could perform when she was younger, though in her heart the emerald eyed enchantress knew she would rather put her abilities to use for the sake of the people, there certainly seemed at least a little something in that idea.

“Oh hold your applause, please~” Pleased at least with the idea that if all else failed that she might at least be able to make a few jewels working as a travelling entertainer, Miss Luciano smiled toward the goats who were remaining rather staunch in their lack of regard or wonder for what she was doing, eager to finish off her piece with something rather flashy indeed. For certain, if this didn’t knock their socks off then nothing would, even if they weren’t wearing any!

“And now, for our big finish~” Shooting at look toward the ‘crowd’ she had gathered and glad to see that they at least hadn’t fled because of the light show she had put on even if they weren’t particularly engaged with what she was doing, after whirling her hands together and humming softly as she drew her dancing to a slowing halt, Zoey prepared herself to deliver a rather fancy little ‘crescendo’ to the warm up she was doing for the entertainment of herself and maybe even the creatures around her.

“Big Bang!” Drawing her hands together all at once as she moulded all the tiny little sparkles that she had been toying with into one large ball in between her mitts, while it took little effort physically or otherwise to bundle this brightness together, for the sake of performance the show woman pretended to strain to confine them before letting them shoot in all directions. The result almost like a firework though lacking for the crack and screaming sound, all too quickly a shower of brightness spread outward as the lady of light swept her arms as wide as they would go, scattering across the little valley as the harmless little fireflies rushed away because of the motion she had created.

“Ahahahaha~! It wasn’t much~” The fair femme feeling all the more satisfied with what she had done once she had spied the goats take a break from chewing the plants around them to look at startling sparkle that she had created, as the heads of the miniscule herd lifted up and continued to munch away on mouthfuls of grass, Miss Luciano couldn’t help but take a little bow at what she had done and then raise a pair of ‘V’ shaped fingers alongside her face as she accepted their theoretical praise with grace and humility. Just as any ‘star’ should, really…

“Heh~” Lifting a hand to the back of her head and scratching it softly once the goats returned to the effort that occupied them so, now that she had finished the little routine she had been performing, Miss Luciano fully appreciated how swept up she had become by it.
Maybe I got a little carried away with my warm up? The breathing of the blonde heavier than she had expected it would be and her cheeks feeling as if they were quite red indeed, though the teen didn’t feel particularly embarrassed about what she had been doing, at the same time she couldn’t help but feel a little bit silly for having gotten so into the little act she had been performing. Perhaps something of a natural show woman, having given herself a spotlight it seemed she couldn’t help but bask in it, regardless of the fact that she hadn’t really been gifted with all that much an audience to enjoy what she had done.

“Well, now that’s taken care of, let’s get down to some serious business~” Sighing softly as she set her mind to the task that she had come to the valley or more accurately the spell that she sought to perfect up here, Zoey lifted her hands up to her hair to tighten up the ponytail she was wearing as she sought to get a little more focused on the work before her, smoothing out her clothes and zipping up the hooded jacket she was wearing as she began to even out her breathing again.
“You guys might want to take a few steps back, this might smart if it clips you?” Naturally still a little bit worried for the company she was keeping in this place despite the desire of the damsel to succeed, with her palms pressed out from her, the Baskan Beauty tried to usher the grazers nearby away from where she was going to practice since this was no mere light show she was about to perform. This was a combat spell…

“Sun’s bright light turned to fury…” Taking a slow breath as she gathered her mana to one of her hands, focusing everything that she could draw out only into a single digit, the golden haired girl spoke with steady and purposeful words as she recited the little incantation she needed in order to pull off the spell that she sought to perfect. Knowing that many who were experienced and well versed in their forms of magic not needing this poetic presentation in order to pull off their spells and simply practised enough that they might perform things of this calibre through simple application of mana and the right gesture, unfortunately this fair fifteen year old had not quite reached that level really, though was getting better.

Now able to call upon at least a few simple utility spells from the catalogue that was offered by her improvised ‘Styled Sunshine’ style as she called it, though combat spells required a higher level of output and focus to perform Miss Luciano knew she would get there one day. It would just take time, and practice like she was doing today to expand her skills, and then one day maybe she’d be ready to enter a guild? That was the theory at least.

“BRILLIANT BEAM!” Not able to allow herself to get too distracted by the dreams of another day as she felt her power flowing through her body toward the pointer finger that she had stretched out in front of her, almost as if she expected some form of recoil Zoey lifted her free hand up and steadied the forearm of her firing hand just a moment before calling out the name of the spell she was to perform. A magic circle quickly following after this, of course, as a shining white disk that was a little bigger than a dinner plate appeared at the tip of her finger, the fair haired femme bit her lip as light seemed to explode from her digit and she hoped that this time it would not be one that pained her personally…

The attack that she had created launching forth with a degree of lamination that seemed to rival the happy little orb in the sky, Zoey narrowed her eyes as a shaft of destructive light burst out of the seal that she had created, watching with a slight sense of awe over the result of her spell. No recoil created but the sense of elation that her success inspired within the girl making her squeeze her wrist tightly, she watched as the beam sped through the air toward the exposed patch of stone that she was aiming for, but all too quickly noticed the fact that something in her focus or stance had seemingly thrown her aim off. Perhaps it proving to be not the easiest job to aim at distant targets when one lacked a crosshair or something of the sort, the girl was satisfied with her ability to produce this brilliant blast but wasn’t giving up on complete success just yet.

“Oh no you don’t!” Crying out in denial as the blinding beam threatened to slip past her target and then gritting her teeth, with the hand that steadied her against recoil the blonde tugged on her firing finger to correct things, hoping that her adjustment would do enough to help it find its mark. The spell designed to follow her finger as it was fired and hopefully even her amateur application of it carrying that simple fact, Miss Luciano held her breath and felt a little shiver travel up her spine as she saw the her radiant ray seeming to bow just a little bit, it was with a gasp the girl greeted the crack that the attack made when it slammed into stone and nothing less than her broadest, brightest smile as well…

“It… It worked!” Chunks and splinters of stone shooting from the stony face like someone had just thrown a stick of dynamite at it, after blinking for a second or two and letting her hands slip steadily downward, Miss Luciano called out with a sense of surprise which was quickly followed by no small degree of delight. A little bit astonished that she had managed to pull this attack off since it was not the first time she had tried it, it seemed that her persistence and patience had paid off in a good way, and in the end that was all that counted.

“IT WORKED!” Leaping into the air almost immediately and not paying any particular degree of attention to the way that her sudden shift in inertia compelled certain aspects of her anatomy to bounce around, as her ponytail flapped up and down behind her, the Baskan Blonde thrust her hands up into the sky and hopped skyward again and again and again. Then about fifty more times for good measure after that as well.

There’s still some kinks to figure out… Better work on my aim but all in all…[/b] Elated by the victory that she had found in her little practice session, though with her current levels of mana and control such a move seemed to eat a big chunk of her reserves, Zoey was happy.
“Big Success!” Naturally there always a little bit of feeling out in these things and room for growth but her first successful use of a combat spell seeming to be certainly the sort of thing that one should celebrate, once she was done leaping about the larking of the bright beauty continued as she spun herself around, making little guns with her fingers and playfully shooting at the goats nearby.

I did it, daddy~ I’m catching you up, steadily… The mountain cattle as unflappable as ever of course, and our golden girl naturally not unleashing any kind of offensive power with her impish aim, the young woman let out a happy sigh and looked up toward the brightness of the sky as she celebrated. The mind of Miss Luciano quickly returning to the man who had raised her whenever she felt like she had accomplished something, in a magical sense especially, the bouncy blonde hoped that her patriarch was looking down upon her proudly from above or wherever the best kinds of papas ended up when they had passed on.

You had some pretty nifty spells, but I’ve got a few too now, and plenty of time to learn more~ Of course in truth not actually sure whether her dear old dad even was dead but accepting this fact in her heart given how long ago it was since she had seen him, while it would be a happy and miraculous surprise to find him alive, even if she might have hoped for it in sadder moments it wasn’t what this young woman expected anymore. A decade having passed by since she last saw the fact of her father and probably more than that if she counted the days properly, it had been many years since Zoey had let go of the prospect that he might slip in their front door with a goofy smile upon his face and apology about his lateness.

One day, I’ll make sure that no matter where you are, everyone will have heard the name of the brilliant Miss Luciano, daughter of Elmo~ This a familiar sight to her once upon a time but the youngster a different girl these days, while a part of her would always want to be the small thing that would scurry toward her papa once he was done for the day and wrap her arms around him, she had realized a long while ago now that it was time that she got on with her own life. Not forgetting him but living up to the sacrifice he made to ensure that she could have this opportunity…
