Bodak Manji
Shura's Shadow
She sat in the middle of the largest room in the guild. She was a fresh face, but her mind held years of dedication to this guild. She was not born, she was collected and revised. No one needed to know where she came from, only that she served Phantom Lord's current master loyally. It was her job, and would forever be so. Should this task end early, then she would find herself in a new role to play.

She had several books around her. Four to be exact. Each held a different symbol on the front of them with a letter in the middle of the emblem. One had a gravestone like shape with an S in the middle of it. The second a shield emblem with an N in the middle. The third a skull with a N, The last held hand like shape with the letter B in the center.

She had taken the entire afternoon humming to herself, diligently writing in each of the books. All were full besides the last with the letter B. She paused to look at the blank pages. However, they were't totally blank. Unlike the others, it was not written so neatly. This one had nothing but drawings in the margins of the first pages and started with a "Long ago . . . " But that was all that was written.

"The fuck am I supposed to write. . . " she said to herself.

"You don't." She could hear the voice from upstairs, though it sounded far away, the presence of it seemed to grow near. "It is your job to watch and learn. And soon, you will know why I placed you here. You will know why I released you."

She would have to wait for further instructions. With that, she closed the books and placed them on her lap.

Before her sat a large table and several seats. It was a meeting room, but it seemed to be long unused. Couches and other lounging seats littered the room along with scattered news articles and other things. The table was cleaned of dust only because she had wiped it down before she had begun her task.

But would anyone come to speak today?

Shura Ranzu †

Shura Ranzu

He was quite fond of the girl, almost like a daughter. After all, it was by Chi's creation and his discovery that she. .  .

"So the logs are completed?" He'd say it from looking down at her from above. She wouldn't know he was there, she shouldn't have. She was focused on her writing, her task. He stood on the ceiling, smiling at what she's become in such a short time.

Name: Heat Sneaks
Rank: D
Mana Cost: 25
Requirements: Overheat
Type: Supplementary
Element: Fire
Range: Self
Cooldown: 1 Posts
Duration: Sustain
Effect: When running Shura’s shoes begin to heat up to the point he can run up hard surface by melting it with each step. As long as he sustains this he can change the heat levels to match what surface he is walking on.

Name: Blast Dash
Rank: D
Mana Cost: 25
Requirements: Overheat
Type: Supplementary
Element: Fire
Range: 5 Meters
Cooldown: 1 Posts
Duration: Instant
Effect: Shura pushes off the ground in any direction by pressing his foot or feet into the ground. By doing this he causes an explosion to happen at his feet blasting him in that direction he moved in. The speed and distance of this spell scales based off the user’s speed.

The next second he would blast off the ceiling and shoot for the ground beside her. He would land safely and carefully. If it was any harm, he would have grabbed the curtains that hung on the walls or the banner that held the symbol of their guild.

"I figure it's best for me to cast as much as I can around you." Shura would say it only like so, so the both of them understood. She had awakened a strange magic in her birth, and here he would make great use of it.

Name: Berial’s Left
Rank: B
Mana Cost: 100
Requirements: Overheat
Type: Offensive
Element: Fire
Range: 15 Meters
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Duration: Sustain
Effect: Shura touches his left where his arm used to be. When pulling his hand away a arm composed of blue fire materializes and mimics the same length and size of his arm. The finger tips are clawed. It gives off an unnatural blue glow. He can control the heat of the arm depending on it’s usage. He can increase the heat to do B rank burning damage per post. Or he can cool the arm so he can grab or touch other people. When striking it does B rank burning damage. He can stretch the flames giving him a reach of fifteen meters. The arm stays active until destroyed by a B rank or higher. Or if Shura stops sustaining the arm. He can also use this arm to cast spells from.

Name: Fireflies
Rank: C
Mana Cost: 50
Requirements: Overheat
Type: Supplementary
Element: Fire
Range: 10 Meters
Cooldown: 2 Posts
Duration: Sustain
Effect: Shura opens his hand causing tons of small bugs to fly outward and take up a ten meter radius. They don’t do damage they have a different purpose. They are directly connected to Shura’s senses. These fireflies act as an extension of Shura’s senses. When someone, something or a spell comes into the ten meter range the bugs attach to it. By doing that they keep track of whatever it is at all times as long it’s in range.

The next moment his arms would cross and his arm would begin to emit a light, a flame. The next his hand would open to show a bunch of tiny floating embers into the room, dancing about.

His magic had it's own purpose, but for now, it was to amuse this new woman, this child. His child. And with her own powers, this display of magic would only serve her a great use.

"So, before the others, I guess we should get on the same page." He looked at her, the flies would fade and so would the flames.

"We're going to take down the council. I'll kill them all." And a smile noted the end of his words.

"Now that's not what little Chisu said." one voice mocked his choice.

"Take over Fiore while it's weak." the second followed.

The figures stood in the corner of the room, mocking the two of them. But they weren't there.

They were in their heads.

So he came. Surely he wasn't just someone who acted under the title. He was going to have to pull his weight if he was going to be called a Guildmaster. It was Shura, and to her, it was like her own Father. After all, he was one of the two that had a hand in her upbringing.

She would watch as he would give off his display of power, though she knew him enough to know why he did so. it was for her own benefit. When he was done, it was his words that gave her a chill to shove her texts aside.

"I say not to." Bodak would add, opposing his views. "Our priority should be destroying Grimoire Heart. For our sake. They came for us once, they'll come again. It's best to kill our enemies before we make new ones. Not point to take more food on our plate we can't fuckin' stomach." She'd sigh.

"It's not like they could do it a second time, but I'm sure they have more numbers than us. Even ants can kill a tiger with enough of them." She'd pause, coming up with a better idea.

"Hell, make them fight each other. When they're most weak, we'll end Grimoire, and we'll finish-" She caught her tongue, ". . . We'll become the new council."

She reached out to a smaller book, a notebook it seemed. She flipped to the center of it, the front filled with words and stories she had been collecting since her arrival just a few days ago.

"I can count three of us, plus another three we have no idea where they are. That's . . . " her fingers slipped down the page at crossed out names. Geb. Cesare. Along with other names that she recorded, but have never been in the hall long enough to make a difference. They didn't even save their late Master.

"Gloria, Vance, and Miah." she looked at the page. "At least, that's all anyone whose here knows of. Cesare mgiht have had other plans before we got here."

Everyday...he was becoming stronger. It was to the point where the Phoenix struggled to voice himself within the mind of the young Savannian. It was as if the bird was caged at this point. Bennu was becoming Jeremiah and Jeremiah was becoming it. It The two weren't battling for control anymore. Still, without that voice guiding him he felt a little too free if that made sense. Miah was so used to having someone there to tell him when he made a mistake that without that someone tasks seemed harder. However, he wouldn't dare complain. God knows how long he's hoped for the day to come where he could rest at night without the fear of his power unleashing. Was his ability even magical? It seemed a bit more supernatural.

Without a word the young mage pushed open the guild doors with ease. By now he was well known in the guild. One, because of their lacking numbers and two because he was on top of his shit. Quickly he was rising whatever ranks Phantom Lord had. After entering the hall his eyes shifted from side to side, scanning the hall as his guild mates watched him. It was safe to say that not many people fucked with him because not many were on his level in this guild. This simple fact was a good thing either. Jeremiah still had a long long way to go before he could match up to other mages. Shura was still ahead of him and Fairy Tail still had mages that were above him in power. Soon he'd crush them all though.

"Where are they?"

A phantom pointed towards the top level. That was the only thing he truly needed to see. Quickly he walked upstairs and made his way down the hall and stopped when he heard a bit of talking. It was nothing more than coincidence that his name was mentioned. That was his queue to open the doors and walk in. His clothes were ripped but only a few marks remained on his body. Them dark jobs man, they sure are action-packed. As he entered he saw hardly anybody besides the current guild master...and... somebody new?

"Who's this?" was the first thing he asked. He didn't even bother to acknowledge the girl until Shura told him why she was here. In fact, he didn't even look at her after noticing her. All his attention was on the man as he took his seat at the far end of the table.

"Bodak Manjiki." Shura answered. A simple man asked simple questions. And he would receive simple answers.

There was no need for small talk. All that needed to be said was the bare minimum. They all needed to be on the same page.

"Chi has an extensive family. I believe we touched on this subject. She is here to simply take care of organization for us." He would motion towards her, as if to look and acknowledge that she existed. Shura would sigh, thinking only of the work that was to come.

"As much as I don't care how you use this hall to your advantage, we're going to have to set some rules." He'd look at the man before him, wondering if this time would go better than the last. "We cannot risk diminishing our relations to other groups. As it stands, Blue Pegasus are our only allies, and Grimoire are the only threat. While their mages themselves aren't jack shit to us, their numbers will serve a problem."

He'd lift his hand to point at the new recruit. "I'll train you to become the guildmaster after me, but you need to understand that we can't be reckless." He'd glance over at Bodak, looking at her works. "I suggest you spend some time with Bodak and get to know the history of this place. Then when the time comes, take the crown from me. Until then, I'm Guildmaster."

He'd smile at him, wondering if it lit a fire under his ass. "If you want to call the shots, you best voice your plan now." he'd look back at her, wanting her to chime in.

With so few numbers, she felt like she was tied down to the biggest imbecile she could find. She'd roll her eyes at his own gestures. He didn't want to waste time either. No point in knowing someone who wasn't going to stick around. That was probably what he thought. It was what they all thought.

"So he really is like a mindless animal . . . " she'd sigh and close her book. It would get thrown into the stack of her other pages. "I'd have better luck retelling the history to a dead horse."

But she was done hurling insults at a man who barely mattered, at least for now.

"Anyways... Blue Pegasus, good. Grimoire Bad. Magic Council, Bad. Lamia Scale, Meh. Fairy Tail, Meh?" She looked at her notes. "That about sums it up. The question is how, and when we get rid of the council and both that other shithole."

She didn't really care what they were doing. She just wanted to be in the loop and to make sure everyone else was too. If they couldn't communicate, they were going to get picked off one by one. No one would come to each other's aid. They would be no better than the guildless mages that scattered these lands.

Shura motioned towards the woman and so Jeremiah would look. Her skin toned nearly matched his, but from first glance the two seemed to be totally different. Shawty did have some swag, he couldn't lie. A nod was all she would get as he analyzed her, his eyes lowering to her breasts. Needless to say she was beautiful, but he'd come across so many beautiful women that her appearance hardly fazed him. Bodak. Related to Chi. Fair enough. She was an assistant to put it in simpler terms. Fodder really...that was until she proved herself to be useful. Jeremiah turned to face Shura again, who seemed to be more serious now than the last time the two spoke. It was a shame really. How was this guild going to be strong if they lacked valuable mages?

Shura said that there needed to be some rules set in stone. According to him Blue Pegasus were their only allies, and Grimoire Heart their only threat. It was rather ironic that a dark guild had beef with another dark guild while also having a positive relationship with a light guild. He remained silent. His eyes glued onto the man as words continued to flow from his mouth. Shura said that he was next in line, and he would train him to become the next leader of Phantom Lord. Jeremiah remained nonchalant. He would have it no other way. He didn't waste his time doing nothing all day like many of the members of this guild, he worked every day to become stronger, wiser, and more aware.

From that point he knew that somewhere after Jeremiah spoke with Shura, the man made it official that he was the guild master. About a month ago Jeremiah would have attempted to battle that, but he couldn't. Shura was up next for more than enough reasons, Jeremiah would just have to wait his turn. Shura even said it straight up, right then that he was the guild master. The way he said it normally would have ticked Jeremiah, but Shura already knew what it was. If anything this was teasing, he knew Jeremiah was a hothead. When Shura gave Jeremiah the okay to speak, the young mage would sit back and close his eyes.

"Grimoire Heart...our only threat? What a joke. Nobody as of now is a threat to us. Nobody is even thinkin' about us." He snickered lightly.

The Savannian opened his lids, revealing the gold marbles of eyes and looked at the two Phantoms in the room. "This is backwards. Sure, Grimoire Heart slaughtered the previous Guild Master - or at least the useful one anyway - but let's not act like we don't need them. If Grimoire Heart is gone do you think we'll be able to move forward with our plans? Blue Pegasus will easily turn on us, and all the other light guilds will combine their forces to stop anything we attempt to do..." Jeremiah stopped there. He left an open space to see if either of the two knew where he was getting at.

Grimoire Heart had a plan and whatever it was involved the destruction of the powers. Guild masters were their targets so far. With Etherion having been their first target it only made sense that they planned on attacking the council next. Jeremiah wasn't suggesting that they become allies with Grimoire Heart, but they could use them.

"With the "Grimoire shits" in the picture, nobody is paying attention to Phantom Lord...it's the perfect opportunity for us to play it smooth and let them do the dirty work. For now we'll appear to be allies with the light guilds, while also taking the Knights down. That way, even if we do happen to kill a rune or two Grimoire can take the blame. Grimoire." There was more to say, but he didn't wanna go on and on. He ain't really like talking much.

It took him long enough. With that out of the way, they were able to focus on the real task at hand.

Shura smiled, laughing a little at his words. What had happened to him in that short time? Suddenly he was using his brain.

"Now I like that idea." he'd add in, nodding along. "Though, for now I think it best to leave Pegasus alone. We saved them, and they owe us one. If we really want to play the evil card, we can send them to face our own-" He caught himself. How did he miss these details.

"We'll wait for Grimoire to finish off one of the other guilds. We'll help them, coming to their rescue. We'll play their game and get rid of that Ark, and should a few mages get caught between us, that will be their problem." he'd look over to Bodak.

"You best pick your spells wisely." he would instruct her, "We don't have forever for you to learn my magic." He's turn to face the man slowly. Shura had been talking a lot, and for some what of a good reason. If anyone had to piece it together, it was him. They could toss ideas around all day but it was by his hand that they had to be refined.

"So we can agree that we can use Grimoire to our advantage. With that, Miah, I'll ask of you to demonstrate a spell or two." He'd begin to get up to leave the room.

"Bodak has something that could be of great importance to all of us."

They were both morons. But so be it. She wasn't in any position to debate, only advise. She lacked skill and experience, but she held a vast superiority in power.

"Like Chi said before, watch who gets caught. Some of the knights, as well as the other mages, namely Pegasus are our own." She'd sigh, he hand reaching to her forehead, laying her face in her palm.

"So we wait for Grim Shits to do something reckless, then we get the jump on them, and use them as cover for our own agenda. Last I checked we were trying to play neutral, but if we do evil and still look good. . . it should work."

It was then that Shura would get up to leave. She really didn't want to be left alone to some mystery man. He was reckless before and she was sure he was reckless now.

"My magic is more refined than Chi." she'd say, "But at the same time, I rely on her for my knowledge." She wasn't sure if he would catch on, and she would continue.

"In short, I can copy spells. Just the sight of them allows me to absorb the make up and replicate it. . . at the cost of elemental superiority. I can't copy elements, not yet at least."

Jeremiah raised an eyebrow. Was Shura thinking? If he was, he wasn't a very smart man. He suggested that the guild help the next guild to be attacked, specifically with fighting Grimoire Hearts Ark. There was no way in hell he was putting his life on the line for a reason like that. Bodak stated her points, starting off by reminding them that there were people on their side in the Knights and Blue Pegasus. She agreed with Shura after, causing Miah to wonder if anybody really listened.

"Tch. All the guilds have been attacked. Since Grimoire already struck every guild, I'm going to assume that the next target is...the Council. The Rune Knights, most likely... and if that's the case we don't need to help anything."

Jeremiah motioned his hand in a circle, showing the two other Phantoms that he specifically meant them. "We let them fight, let them take each other out, then we come in last minute and create the illusion that we're helping. It's important for us to lay low and more importantly for us NOT to risk our lives so early." Which was true. All Phantoms really needed to do was move slick. Like snakes. They shouldn't actually take Grimoire Heart on head on instead do it from the shadows. But Shura was the Guild master, so whatever he said the rest of the guild would follow, Jeremiah would need to take a little longer to decide if he would do as the current master said.

Now he was requested to perform a spell? Odd. The man left now only him and Bodak in the room. Soon she revealed that her powers were better than Chi. She was a copy mage, but Jeremiah's magic was too unique and you couldn't copy a soul.

"You won't be able to copy my magic because I'm the vessel of the Phoenix. It's soul is within me. Unless you have a part of The Phoenix's soul within you, then you can't use any of my spells." His voice cold as he glared directly into the woman's eyes. A magic like that... impressive.

They were the new order of Phantom Lord, and they all had the same mindset, but each insisted that their wording the correct plan. Even if the plan was the exact same damn thing. Their teamwork would be the death of them.

"Ya, so we ask the Horsies for help, get them involved. Have them fight head on while we fuck around. Have them focus on Grim Fucks and we can take out who strays too far, or doesn't pay attention." He spoke as Shura left the room. They were all telling the same story in a different language. It would be their bane.

"You're really going to force me to tell my... whatever. Fine." She reached to her books and brought them closer to her. She had work to do. If he was going to waste her time then she was better off sitting in the dark talking to a wall.

"I don't use your magic, I replicate it. I don't need your soul or anyone elses. I have several souls from when I was brought here, they're enough for me to replicate all I need. But no matter. I'll deal my own way."

She begun to stack her books to get ready to head to her room. "When you're all away to kill those damn mages, I'll be stuck here. I figured the best way for me to protect this place, should it come back down to it, is to use the power of all the mages here."

It was at no loss to him. She didn't understand why he fought it. He was cute, but stubborn. The worst that could happen was she wasn't able to, the best case was she could. But who was to say. She didn't hold her tongue.

Her voice held sincerity, but still she held onto her own anger. Slayer magic, necromancy, take over. . . if she saw it, she could replicate it. The cost was a toolset that would never be complete. She would be a jack of all trades, but a king of nothing.

Perhaps she should learn some of Chi's spells before she heads off to the Temple instead.  .

The boy was silent. Shura left the room. It should have been obvious by now that Jeremiah had authority issues. It was just part o his personality now to have a clap-back. What him, Shura, and Bodak were saying nearly meant the same thing, however he just wanted it to be known that he wasn't fighting Grimoire Heart up front. He didn't care that they murdered their precious guild master, his enemy was the government only. Bodak seemed slightly annoyed, but in actuality Jeremiah did't give two shits, he wanted details. The bronze girl explained that she simply replicated spells not copied them. Everything made more sense now, and so Miah had no problem giving her what she wanted. The male turned away as she staked her books up realizing that he was probably too angry, too hurt, and too stubborn for his own good. Bennu was a dangerous Takeover. While Takeovers such as demon and god were often deemed much stronger, Bennu himself was probably up to par with them in terms of power.
The beast was dangerous and lusted it for blood.
He thrived off of chaos, destruction and fear.
It would be a shame if Jeremiah lost control.

"Hm." The young Phantom began to morph into something much bigger. The room would be filled with intense flames the moment the process started and it'd only take a full five seconds before the his flame engulfed body would settle down and reveal his new form. Perhaps she could replicate his Phoenix form. The humanoid bird stood tall, glaring at the woman.

"Sometimes I forget what it feels like to use this power."

That was certainly a sight to see. Perhaps he wasn't all bad. If it was a takeover, surely this creature was effecting him in some way. In mannerisms, or some demon or god that lived within. It was the same task Chi was placed with, and even that took a toll on her. The spirits and all of the evil that lay within. Perhaps that would explain this man . . . Maybe. . .

"Well it won't be easy... but it would be something certainly worth my time while you are all doing business." She'd smile, the first time of the night. Perhaps this man was worth her time. Maybe with this power, he had a reason to throw his weight around the room.

"Does it have a name?" she'd ask. "Even the most worthless take-overs and shifts have a name. Surely something of this... size... has a name?"

She was interested in the power at hand. Not for the sake of her purpose, but for her own personal curiosity. However, with two fire mages within the guild walls, surely someone would have to fill in the gaps. Perhaps Bodak would have to change into something more fitting than replicating magic with light in her hands.

Just maybe.

Jeremiah Ali

Jeremiah was only partly himself at this point. It was mostly Bennu who Bodak had been speaking to so it was best if she refrained from saying anything offensive. Something was different though. The Phoenix... he seemed to slowly drown Jeremiah in what seemed to be a pool of flames though Bodak would be able to see none of it. The young Savannian noticed that he began to lose the grip on Bennu, as if the creature had been pushing him deeper into the realm of nonexistence.

No... The relationship Ali had with the Phoenix was a complicated one. He knew that the spirit had been attempting to steal his physical form for some time now, but he'd always manage to fight the Phoenix off...but what was different now? This couldn't actually be happening could it? Not now... not when he was actually progressing in power.

To Bodak, there was a nearly ten foot flaming man-creature in the room but to Jeremiah...there was a monster on the verge of freedom. What are you doing, Bennu?! Miah shouted within his mind. The setting changed and in a second he was within a cage in a dark void. Upon noticing where he was, he began to panic. Banging on the cage with his bare hands, attempting to break it. No! No! No! he shouted angrily. The Phoenix winced, turning his head to the left before placing his hand over his eye. Does it have a name? Bennu turned to glare at the woman with disgust. To Bennu, she was nothing more than vermin asking questions about something totally out of her league. She would die by his hand anyway, he thought, so why not answer her questions? The Beast walked forward slowly.

"I am Bennu the Phoenix, human girl-"

No!!! Jeremiah shouted within his mental cage. Anger and frustration began to build up within him, causing Bennu to wince once more, this time placing to hands over his eyes and falling to his knees. Jeremiah continued to bang the cage. "Stop it you fool!" The Bennu shouted. Suddenly flames  began to emit from his body and quickly they began to create an aura around him. No! No! No!! Jeremiah yelled. He roared in the cage he'd been placed in, causing the flames around Bennu to grow even more. The flames flickered between the colors of red, blue, and orange. I won't let you take my body!!!!!!

"You useless brat!!!!" Bennu roared, his voice resembled 100 eagles, maybe even more. From Within himself, Jeremiah could feel a different energy emerging. Something other than fire... something more pure, yet sinister. The young mage didn't plan on losing himself, not to the Phoenix, not to anyone. He didn't know what it was, but he had not time to acknowledge them. The flames around the Phoenix became white, causing Bennu to look at himself in awe. "Wh-what's happening to me!?!"

The cage that jailed Jeremiah began to break as a white flaming energy emitted from his body, burning them with ease. The white flames around Bennu began to stick to his skin, managing to actually burn him. "Impossible! These... these are-"

"GIVE ME BACK MY BODY!!!!!!!!!!"

The white flames began to cover Bennu's entire body until eventually he was burned away. Within the flames was Jeremiah, his body absorbing every flame that was within the room until there was no more. Even the Phantom himself didn't know what was happening, but when the flames were gone, he was the one that remained on his hands and knees on the floor. Heavily he breathed, white light sparked around his body. What the hell just happened?

She watched him seem to burn only to be renewed. It was something strange, she could try to copy it, surely, but it would serve no purpose. Whatever she would end up with, would be nothing more useful than she saw. He held to something unique, and that Bodak understood. The best she would have at this was to tell Caitlyn, and she would have to replicate it through her memories, and thus, Bodak would have a template to copy. But what she saw, was none too useful for her needs.

"Alrighty then . . . " she spoke, watching it all, confused, but with respect. Surely this was the source of who he had become, and not who he was. The real Miah was locked away. Perhaps a tale of the old era would explain it all to her, and maybe it would aid him as well.

She arose with her books in hand. "It was nice meeting you, Bennu, and Miah. I suggest you both learn a compliment from an insult." She would speak with a smile, she was none the wise to care about it. She owed either of them nothing, but for now, he was interesting.

"As I said before, if the weakest of spirits have names, so should the strong. Bennu, is an interesting name. I'll remember it." She would look down at the man, only literally, but not metaphorically, something she had never remembered doing before.

"Maybe when you come back from killing knights, we can talk again. Maybe I might learn something of interest to you. Maybe? And she would await his response. There was nothing more to say to a man who had exposed himself. For now, she would allow him to speak and explain.

Jeremiah breathed heavily as he faced the floor. The woman didn't seem to care about what had happened, not that the Savannian cared too much. She was already irrelevant. She spoke on Bennu, but he didn't pay too much attention. She got what she wanted at least right? The Phantom stood up and simply shook his head. Quickly he would glance at her before simply walking past her and to the door of the room. His head was spinning, and he honestly felt way too sick to even attempt to comprehend. It may have seemed like he was being a jerk, but right now he was actually in way too much pain. He needed to rest if he was going to do anything later on. Samehada only made it worse. The blade was heavy on his back which was unusual despite its size. Without another word the young Phantom left the room. There was no sign of Bennu in him anymore, even when he "released" the mental barrier that usually held the beast spirit. He would have to figure this all out later. For now he needed to go.

"Maybe..." was all he could manage before opening the door and walking out.
