There are a lot of things you can find funny, there are a lot of ways to humour things anyway. Jokes you tell, jokes you don’t tell but just the look at people their face, the unspoken words that make you laugh because you think the same. It’s been a long time, she found things amusing, sure she did, she would be inhuman like if she didn’t. Which was a funny description for a vampire but laughing. When was the last time she truly laughed? Laughed so hard that she would cry, or that she had to hold her because she was shaking so much. It made her said to realize that the last time she had laughed was probably with the original Lilja, the one who cheated death a first time but didn’t survive a second by payback. She still wasn’t sure if her mother had been killed by a vampire or if it was a demon, she didn’t know how it worked with her friends, if she could consider them that, being one. This made her question the ability of having friends, she wasn’t sure. Words in her mind, repeated from what felt like thousand conversations, she liked working together with Caius, Black, now Demon. She had always been close to Odin or so she believed, she wasn’t sure what he thought. She wasn’t sure what to think after her long disappearance. She had not seen Erebus anywhere after the disaster in Crocus, she had not seen Cornelius, Axelio, Celeste and many others that she had not found important enough, she even lost a name of one of her first colleagues. A person she did a lot of jobs with but that didn’t matter anymore, he probably died or so, what did it matter to her. If she would avoid being badly wounded or shot to kill, she would be able to survive for a whole eternity. Sounded very tempting, until you wondered how much fun that would be but most of all, she had not seen Yumi and she wondered what the old, now young looking lady was up to. She probably had some high important mission from Icarus, hence why the right hand man of her guildmaster wouldn’t be bothered with such a little pawn as Nastasya Crowe. Carnage over Malice of course. And she understood that and even though her goal had always been to be impressive, it was a bit frustrating if you weren’t. It was also frustrating if it basically didn’t really matter to you anymore, the idea of already giving up and just not do anything. Simply stare at your wall, sometimes even hanging upside down to do something. Instead of what she should do was get her ass of the bed, work out, do spells, go run, get enough blood so the other issue wouldn’t play but she didn’t want to. Winter was her favourite period, she turned twenty-four if you could say that when you were an undead. Forever twenty-three.

It was all fine, she had lost everything, the world could give her something in return. She basically lost her life, she was killed in an alley by underestimating a hungry vampire, who totally underestimated her as she simply turned the head of its shoulders after she had woken up from her dead experience. She vaguely remembered that Odin said it had not been fun, Lich sounded even worse than vampire in that case. She didn’t think much about it in the end, it was as if she didn’t even have feelings about that anymore since she had woken up from that disaster. Her changing her time schedule had gone soon and in the end she and Victoire had bonded again as well. She shouldn’t complain too much about it, all she should complain about was that she wasn’t doing anything about it, there was no fun with it. She didn’t plan to say anything to herself, she tried to giggle but it more sounded like a very creepy sound, thank god she couldn’t look at herself in the mirror at this point, she didn’t also know she was having all these thoughts in this manner. She saw it differently, she was actually trying to laugh in her sleep. Processing and progressing in a way by being asleep during the day, the life of a vampire.

The whole ordeal of her dream was a bit different than from what happened in the real world, where she was just rolled up in the inn where she had taken a room. But in her dream she stood opposite herself, only herself looked like a shadow with only red eyes. She wasn’t even aware in her sleep that it could be a reference to her old magic, shadow make magic, where it all had started. Born to ice make magic mages in the North of Fiore, close to Orchidia and after a wrong eye surgery, she was able to see ghost and shadows thanks to the shadow make magic that possessed her but she lost that ability and in the end lost her magic. Her eye had magically appeared again after being turned into a vampire and no longer was a glass eye. Which had been a strange and quite painful experience that she also couldn’t remember, all she could remember was the reaction of her body and the last sting of pain that left the moment she woke up. That didn’t matter anymore after all, it was over. But the shadow version in her dream had glowing red eyes, showing the hunger for blood, her berserker self and something she tried to fight off very badly. She had to tell herself time and time again that this couldn’t happen during a quest from her guild, she would probably die if her berserker side would take over, because it wouldn’t see any danger: it only wanted to eat and drink blood. This meant that before everything would start, she would have to drink blood and lots of it in case she would get hurt.

In her dream the berserker version of herself wrapped her hands around her own neck and tried to choke Nastasya, who only stared at her shadow with a cold and almost emotionless expression. She wasn’t aware that this was a dream so that wasn’t it, it was basically: how to choke someone that didn’t need to breath in general because they are an undead. So she shook her head and instead of holding on to the hands to try to pry them away, she swept the feet away from the shadow. Surprisingly she was tangible, ”Let me warn you darling. I’m in power and I would never give in to the likes of you.” Which she couldn’t promise, there was no blood here but who would know what would happen. She had told no one, she had managed with Caius his blood, but Odin had seen it before they buried that guy alive. She wasn’t so sure if there were solutions, if she should ask Icarus but she was sure the right hand of her Guildmaster would laugh her and perhaps even kill her if he would consider her weak or throw her out with some sort of mind wipe and she wasn’t ready for that. That would surely change her into a beast instead of being a civilized person as she could be now. Or well for as far as she actually could be counted as one.

She actually was swept of her own feet and fell hard on her bum and rubbed her leather pants that she was wearing and stared at her shadow who jumped atop her and they fell rolling over the floor, pulling on her hair, trying to claw her eyes out and Nastasya tried everything in return but the shadow mimicked it quite quickly. Where the heck was Victoire when she needed her, the annoying pet. Which she didn’t mean, if she had one support it was Vic but right now this wasn’t going to work and she wondered if the shadow would be able to mimick her special vampire power: blood magic. She called upon her magical power and felt it rising in her body, the blood quickening and she opened her hand in front of the shadow’s face and dropped one of the spells she had. The power of her own magic and the close distance had her pushed backwards herself and the shadow’s head was gone. Which was a very strange and this time scary sensation, everything looked like her own body and her head was gone. So that’s how you of course killed Nastasya Crowe, Lilja Oswald and Malice. She stood up, her legs shaking a bit and she wished all of this was gone, creating her magical energy again. This time unnoticed to herself because her dream world went on was that her wish to be all gone. The magic seeping into her blood, making her whole being invisible. It would take a while for her to realize this of course, she first need to wake up after all.

When she finally did it took a few seconds longer. She simply was able to stare at the world, see her bed, look at the window, the outside world kept out by the curtains and she could see that the sun was already setting. She turned on her left side and stared at the lacrima showing the time and noticed it was about four in the afternoon, she would have to go to bed later because as soon as the winter would be over, it would take a longer time for it to get dark. She rubbed her eyes and kicked the blankets away and stood up next to the bed to stretch herself and brush her long wine coloured hair off her shoulders. She still didn’t pay attention, it was a basic ritual that happened almost every morning, depending if she had taken a midnight snack. Finally she was getting a bit more awake and walked towards the mirror only to scream because she didn’t see herself. She only saw the rest of the room, Victoire who jumped up and looked around very sleepy because Nasty had abruptly woken her in her dreams. But the thing was that she wasn’t visible.

She tried to look at her own hands, pull on her hair which she felt but not visible and the only way that Victoire found her was her scent. She hunched down and petted her ninetails. She heard a knock on the door and someone call out: ”Miss Oswald, are you okay?” Well at least they were very polite, but she couldn’t have them walk into the room and not see her, she wondered what they would think and she couldn’t afford to bring people close to her while the mission was so close at hand. ”Ah yea, sorry there was  spider and it surprised me.” as if she minded spiders, ”Ahaha my companion already took care of that.” she said with a silly laugh to pretend to be such a woman and the person on the other side of the door chuckled as well and said he was glad to hear she was alright and left. Oh boy this was getting worse by the second and she still wasn’t visible. She needed to figure out how to get back and how to get to the point of doing it again because it sounded like a fantastic plan to use in missions and especially those of Grimoire Heart. She stood up after petting Victoire one more time and turned towards the mirror. She closed her eyes and clenched her fist to start the activation of her blood and the magical potential, how did her magic work? Mostly it was her own creativity and brain working well with her blood to make it happen. She opened one eye but didn’t see her reflection yet and seriously hoped it was a spell, she couldn’t get to the middle ages vampire and be invisible in mirrors. But then it wouldn’t make sense that she couldn’t see herself anymore.

It wouldn’t make sense that it would happen randomly after such a long time being a vampire so she decided to ignore that whole issue and simply try to work it out with a spell. She wasn’t sure how though as she had no idea how it happened, normally she would try to figure that out, when she had thought of a spell, how to make it work, but now she would have to undo it. Mostly things weren’t sustained spells for her so how would that work? She frowned and thought about unravelling the spell herself, just how she would work and how her blood magic worked, it was like using sharp nails to pluck out the little threads one by one and break down the spell slowly and get to the point that it would break. She felt it as some sort of weird twist behind her belly button and she opened her eyes and stared at her reflection, even though what she saw was a disastrous mess of a sleepy vampire with hair that was in disarray, crumbled clothing and folding lines in her own skin, she was glad to see herself again. That did make her quickly walk into the bathroom to wash her face though.

She had showered this morning so it wasn’t necessary to do that now, perhaps that explained the hair issue. Perhaps she should cut it and she stared at herself and rolled her eyes, how could she think about that when there were more pressing issues. She took a deep breath and simply grabbed the comb and walked back into her bedroom and work on the lower ends of her long red wine coloured hair. She would sit there for a couple of minutes, distracted by her thoughts as to how she would get that spell to work for her on her own command instead of waiting for it to happen when she least expected it. She tried to remember what she dreamt about but couldn’t even remember a single thing, which had never been so infuriating as now. But as she had figured out how to undo the spell, it must work the same to rebuild it again, only she would have to be quicker than the way she had broken it down, that would take ages. People could shoot her from far away if she wasn’t paying attention like that. Which would be a very stupid thing to have and she sighed putting the comb down as she was finally done. She still had to change her clothing but she needed to figure out this issue first because it was bothering her. She shouldn’t close her eyes, she needed to be able to do whatever she had to do and to see in battle if someone would hit her, ”In cases that I’m invisible, you shouldn’t follow me. We need to win this and proof ourselves again Victoire.” and the ninetails simply seemed to agree, oh if only she could talk.

But they had managed for so long without that issue before and Nastasya turned to look at her mirror reflection, she could not see herself completely and it would be weird to hold a hand in front of her face to make sure but she could still do that now, and she would just practice to make it better. It was like playing layer over layer, thick blood to the other form that it was almost plasma and that would make her build up with magical energy and potential to make her indeed invisible again. But it wasn’t going fast enough so she undid the spell again, this time faster and started again to build it up again. The most fun about this spell was the reaction from Victoire, she looked up when she disappeared and when she appeared again, they needed to practice on that as well that Victoire wouldn’t do that every time, perhaps she should try and go outside, but would she be able to keep her key in her hand and keep it invisible if she made a fist? She had to try that out and thus she worked on the line up from this spell, the blood vessels working a lot quicker now and she would be ready to be invisible in the blink of an eye after twenty more minutes of practice. She popped up her shoes, turning them immediately invisible once they connected with her bare feet. That was nice and with her vampire abilities no one would be able to hear her clicking heels. She opened the door and looked left and right before opening it and stepping out to quickly lock it with the key, holding it in her pocket, remaining invisible for as long as she didn’t open her hand. So her body was invisible, but only if it was a part of herself and thus her outfit but not the key, besides she was still tangible so she needed to avoid bumping into people.

She looked at the inn as she stood downstairs and it was so funny that no one was looking at her, it was a shame Victoire couldn’t be here but she would stay away from seating spots, no one would see her and would sit at her. She stood next to the bar towards the stairs and looked around but literally no one would be able to see her like this. She felt someone bump into her and she took a few steps forward but the person touched her long legs and she turned around to smack him and she quickly hurried back upstairs, okay that was enough for now. The person wouldn’t know what happens but it was perhaps good to smack him in the face, shame she couldn’t wait for the reaction but she hurried back to her room, not even bothering if someone saw the key only and the door open with no one entering or leaving, she wanted to be there and wash her leg and get on proper clothing instead of her baby doll. Which was exactly what she was going to do, she fixed her long red hair into a ponytail and grabbed the leather pants and a tank top. Good thing that a dead person didn’t feel cold that much and besides she would wear a leather jacket. It was time to go to the ark and figure out what more was going on. She took the note that was on the coffee table where Victoire was sitting underneath and she pocketed it and grabbed the key and walked out, perhaps she needed to work out a couple of more spells but it was nice to go to the ark in an easy fashion. She walked down the stairs and heard a guy at the bar explain that he must be hit by a ghost because he had not seen anything and she giggled shortly, it was still not really meant unfortunate. It wasn’t really that funny, she didn’t like people touching her, especially not guys like that one. She waited for Victoire to be out of the inn before they made their way to the Ark, letting her insignia guide her.
