The church of Oakland, the beating heart of Oak's religious society... or something of that sort? Honestly, Kana couldn't exactly recall the speech one of the priests had given her last time she went 'playing' in the underground catacombs. Back then they said it was no place for a child to play in, imagine the irony that said child was now the vessel of quite a dangerous spirit that had been corrupted in the void.

Perhaps the telltale were there. The local adventurers already had raised an eyebrow at the sight of the tiny werewolf child in a fancy suit picking one of the fliers from the bulletin and reading its contents. Some pondered if she was just fooling around, but when they heard her musing something about spirits and playing a game, and went to pick up the flier she had tossed aside their curiosity turned into disbelief:

The flier had mentioned a recent increase in accidents in the catacombs underneath the church, and of course, the local authorities were looking for help in pacifying the spirits. But what could a child possibly want with a spirit? Perhaps it had been better for them to remain oblivious about that...

Wandering amidst the underground chambers Kana couldn't help but find herself growing increasingly bored at how... quiet it all was? For a place haunted by spirits it had been way too peaceful!

"Koh-chan... I don't like this place.... dark and dusty and boring as well!"

The child's complain earned a soft chuckle from the demonic centipede that coiled its mental visage around her. "Don't be like that Kana~ If a place is boring, then isn't that a sign we need to make it entertaining?"

The words of the Centipede caused Kana to blink in bewilderment, a moment of silence as she brought a hand to her chin. "Hmm, but what can we do in a place like this?"

Kana's words earned a soft chuckle from the corrupted spirit. "Why~ We can play games~ Surely you spotted the signs earlier."

As Kana hopped over a grave she hummed softly. "You mean the trail? Mhmm! some people are down here~" The demon chimed softly in agreement. "Indeed, so how about we play... a game of tag with them? I'll even throw in a bonus~"

Hearing these words was more than plentiful to draw Kana's attention. "Oh! A bonus! A bonus!" To which the demon snickered softly. "Being chased by an adorable little Kana isn't that terrifying~ So how about I teach you to take my form?"

The child's eyes sparkled with excitement, as if he had just offered a child some candy. "Yay! Becoming CentiKana!"

If only one had been able to anticipate the horror that was about to unfold...

Meanwhile deeper in the catacombs...

A knight in a suit of metal armor had led the charge, valiantly defending as the vanguard by using the protection of his armor and the sword and shield to keep the skeletons at bay. Meanwhile behind him a sorcerer was chanting incantations, firing projectile after projectile at ghostly phantoms floating in the air. The fiery arrows seemed to keep the phantoms at bay, as if terrified to get close to the one conjuring these vile flames.

Meanwhile further behind the sorcerer was a priestess clad in the robes of the faith that worshipped the Divine Illumin. She whispered prayers to her deity, which in return caused her healing magic to allow the knight to regain his vigor and the skeletons to recoil in dread at the holy magic.

"Just a little! We almost got to the source of unrest in these catacombs! Hang on my friends!"

The knight exclaimed as he struck down one of the skeletons. At the same time the sorcerer finished chanting yet another spell, a wave of lightning crashing down onto the skeletons and scattering their ranks, but any momentary rejoice at their encroaching victory was coldly erased when a scream came from behind them.

"What the---"

The sorcerer turned around, to their disbelief the priestess that had been healing them at the back had been ambushed, her body coiled around by some sort of giant creature that reminded the sorcerer of a snake, if not for the insectoid nature of its body.

"Unhand her at once!" The sorcerer commanded, raising a spell when a voice called coldly from the shadows behind her. "Don't... you will hurt her... Koh-chan doesn't like it when you injure pretty girls."

The sorcerer yelped in surprise as they turned around, to their disbelief they initially thought they saw a child with wolf-like features, but as the shadows crept closer it was clearly a wrong description: While her upper-body was that of a child, the rest of her body seemingly had been integrated into some giant centipede! Before the sorcerer could even make any reaction a large clawed appendage sliced through their body, severing them cleanly at the waist!

Of course the knight tried to turn to help his allies, but a handful of the remaining skeletons had ambushed him, their swords hacking and cutting onto him as their collective weight overwhelmed him. The phantoms moved closer, but the lass growled at them. "Back off... she is mine."

If the priestess hoped for salvation by her god, she would find none of it today. With her friends slaughtered so easily it was clear that things looked hopeless for her. But she had to know... Why? Why did they all have to die like this? Tears rolled down her cheeks, when to her surprise she found the grip of the centipede weaken on her, her body transforming back to its humanoid form.

"don't cry... Koh-chan says smiles better suit pretty girls... What is your name?"

The priestess tried her best to suppress her sobs, whispering her name feebly. "I'm Kana!" The child exclaimed happily. Yet the priestess her fears were clearly not solved. "Why did you not kill me?"

Kana tilted her head slightly to the side in bewilderment, an innocent smile emerging on her lips. "Because you're a pretty nee-chan! Koh-chan doesn't kill pretty onee-chans!"

Only slightly reassured by these words the priestess exhaled softly, closing her eyes for a moment as she pondered if her deity had answered her prayers. "Koh-chan eats pretty nee-chans~"

After that only a high-pitched scream followed. The next day the priests of the church reported the priestess leaving the catacombs humming a nursery rhyme, but by the time the spirits had been pacified enough and the maimed corpses of the party were found... the priestess had long disappeared...
