Overall:

A tall and pretty bronze-skinned young with long and wild largely dark brown hair, Nadia is an attractive young woman skilled in showing off how good she looks. Coming with an ample bosom and narrow waist which leads into a pleasingly broad set of hips fitted as standard, Nadia’s frame belies the tone of an active young woman who keeps herself in great shape. A dancer's frame really, she is long legged and buxom, with an hourglass figure that most would envy, and a dusky complexion which only adds to her exotic allure.

The face of the girl a pleasing, slightly impish set of features, Miss Al Hassan has a slightly mischievous and foxy visage with her almond shaped eyes as well as her sharp jawline and nose, with full lips that just beg to be highlighted with a nice colour.  Gifted with rich hazel irises, Nadia possesses eyes which can look brown or green depending on how the light catches them, and are framed by a set of long, dark lashes which can make a wink or flutter seem to hold such promise.

Keeping her rich and earthy locks rather long, they reach all the way down to her mid back, one might note that the sense of waviness that is possessed by Nadia’s tresses could remind them of a rolling tide. Dark in colour and seeming to have a lustre and liveliness that makes her hair look voluminous and vivacious, her mane often leaves quite the impression, and is as wild as the flame she can command. Very rarely liking to hide much of her pretty face, however, she sweeps her long bangs to the side and often holds her hair back with a band or ribbon, though doesn't like feeling too restricted in that area. Though, who can really blame her, with how good it looks?

Personality

Personality:

A feisty female who is rather full of herself, Nadia Al Hassan is the type who can be social and friendly, and dislikes seeing the people she is close to feeling sad or unhappy. Often the life and soul of the party due to her outgoing manner and big personality, she is the sort of person who can light up a room when she is in a good mood, though perhaps might also set it ablaze should she find herself in a bad one.

A little on the cynical side, having come from the rougher and poorer parts of town it can be fair to say that this young woman is lacking for naiveté, and Miss Hassan can appear quite pragmatic and even lacking for scruples. Taking the world as it is rather than as she would like it to be, this fiery femme would be the first to admit that life isn’t sunshine and rainbows, and seems to maintain a complicated moral position because of this. Disliking seeing innocents be targeted by criminals but reasoning that those who have a lot won't miss so much, in a way she thinks that things like money and resources should be shared more fairly, and is happy to guiltlessly help herself to what those with plenty have accrued.

Not all about belly fire and boldness however, Nadia has a fun-loving side which makes her quite playful and even mischievous, and rather flirty as well, in the right mood or company. Confident in herself for the most part and tending to be the type who finds it easier to share wisecracks and banter over anything truly heartfelt, she enjoys teasing the people she likes as her manner of being tender, expressing her affection in a somewhat 'schoolyard' manner by tending to pick on those she likes the most, and usually does so with a smile on her face and often a hope that her victims will be as amused by them as she is, and can feel guilty if she realizes she has taken things too far.

The rough upbringing she has had seeming to also make her rather shameless in many of her behaviours, Miss Hassan is more calculating than her often forward and freewheeling manner might imply, and often views situations with a cynical perspective based on cost and gain. Happy to bend certain principles and behave in a manner which might raise eyebrows for the right kind of reward, some might be astounded by her daring disregard for the expectations of others, and how she might be willing to consider almost anything should she be compensated well enough for it.

Perhaps noticeably forward and showy in her manner for a professional theif, Nadia can be something of a show off who looks to draw attention to herself, though perhaps somewhat strictly on her own terms. Happy to flaunt herself to provide that feeling of fulfilment, she is brazen and at times captivatingly so, and dislikes any who would judge her for being who she is.

Perhaps both the unstoppable force and the immovable object, Miss Al Hassan can be rather hard headed, and reaps both reward and recrimination for that fact. On the positive seeming to be the sort of soul who isn't easily daunted, even if she can seem brash, this young woman does not abandon friends easily and dislikes being pushed away from others. On the reverse seeming to struggle to let go of issues all that easily, she can become competitive and form grudges readily, which she also finds challenging to let go.

Growing up without any proper family and with the need to watch her back as well around those who deem themselves 'friends', Nadia understands the pain in isolation, and is able to find herself being more generous and open with those she has grown close to. Cherishing her friends and better able to take advice from people she has grown to love, when shown patience and devotion she can show she can temper the fierier aspects of her personality and better demonstrate her softer side, often acting as a 'big sister' to most and lavishing upon her loved ones anything they may desire.

Seeming to dislike and even fear the feeling of being dependent on or 'bound' to anything or anyone, Miss Al Hassan tends to operate in a free spirited manner, which is highly reliant on her feeling of control and guidance in her own destiny. Perhaps something of a heartbreaker for this fact, while she enjoys having friends she struggles with romantic commitment in part due to lingering issues of abandonment of her parents, and perhaps inexperience as well. The type who struggles to ask for help, she hates feeling like a burden upon others, and would rather persevere alone than voice her need for assistance.

  • Money

  • Clear Skies
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Attention

Dislikes:

  • Heavy Clouds
  • Uptightness
  • Bullies
  • Gangsters

Motivations:
  • Reward: Always one who runs that whole cost/benefit analysis when she weighs up a task, Nadia's feeling toward it can often change based on what she might gain from it, and seems happiest when her coffers are full.
  • Loyalty: Showing an odd sense of honour for a thief, though she has been burned a few times for it Miss Hassan tends to dislike feeling indebted to others and warms up to folk more quickly if she they look out for her.

Fears:
  • Confinement: Free spirited and lively in her energy, Nadia embraces her freedom and loathes feeling trapped in any scenario, seeming to get restless and even anxiously stressed if she spends long periods underground.
  • Snakes: Her mother dying after being bitten by a snake while trying to protect her daughter, the lingering trauma from that makes Nadia dislike and dread encounters with snakes, and she feels ill at ease even when close to tame ones.

Magic

Magic Name: Shifting Sands

Magic Element: Earth/Wind

Magic Enhancement: Combo-Elemental Magic

Magic Description: Taught a manner of magic which allows her to conjure and control grainy particulates, this skill contains elements of both stony earth and the projection of air due to its nature, and proves surprisingly fluid and adaptable due to this fact. Able to take command of the resiliency and strength of earthy constructs while still being as free in form as the air itself, for the most part Nadia has honed her gifts for protection and support, though it packs plenty of potential for more direct offensive effectiveness if put to proper use.

History

History:

The story of Miss Hassan seeming to start with meagre circumstances and tragedy, the girl never knew her father and barely remembers what her mother used to say about him, since she lost her at a young age as well. The youngest years she can recall being spent in a quiet village which was nice and peaceful, unfortunately this did not last long until her mother became sick, and tragically passed before her daughter was more than a toddler.

The pair trying to get help in the city but sadly the matriarch's health failing her before she managed to get there, with no other choice the woman found herself forced to rely upon the help of a kindly stranger who had seen their plight, and tried to help him. The man known as Al Adin to many and perhaps not the upstanding citizen that one might have hoped to leave a child to, he was a crook and conman who was known for his feather touch, though at the very least seemed to stick true to the word he had given to take care of the girl.

In fact Nadia neither the first nor the last orphan which he took under his wing either for that matter, he had tended to take on strays and the like in order to help them survive, and had them repay the favour as it were by having them help him too. A wily figure of low education but cunning intellect, he moulded his 'children' into proteges and roped them into his schemes, while passing on certain of his skills as well.

Some saying that more than half of the young beggars and pickpockets in the city were connected to him in some kind of way, though he tended to be a cowardly opportunist in a way he was something of a kingpin thanks to how he ran his business, and conned children into giving up much of a dishonest days work in exchange for a bowl of rice and a blanket overnight. Nadia among this number and in time proving one of his best as well, she was groomed from a young age to take part in his schemes, and accumulated skills and experience enough to be quite the sensation.

Gifted with quickness and deftness of hand along with a kind of charisma which many might struggle to match, at first she would put those big and pretty eyes to good use catching attention while one of her 'siblings' picked the pocket of an unsuspecting mark, though in time proved that she could both bait and swipe from her targets in one fell swoop. Possessing a talent for magic as well which came in handy, especially when one needed to outrun an angry victim or lumbering guard, Adin also passed on a few spells to keep her safe and continued to nurture her as one of his best earners.

This crafty crook hardly the sort one might seek as a role model but there certainly seeming to be worse out there and worryingly close to home, while Adin was the sort who shied away from matters of violence and preferred a certain deftness and discretion in his proteges, that didn’t mean that everyone did not. The man coming into a 'business partnership' with a bullish gangster by the name of Bidun Rahma, though how willingly this was or not is open to debate, he was offered protection from other gangs for a cut of the profits he made, and squeezed the operation even harder for it.

Not that Nadia paid much attention to this of course, by the time she was into her teenage years Nadia was a rising star like her could make enough to go independent, though still seemed to pay some service to Adin. The man coming to her time and again to pluck at her heartstrings, he spoke of how Rahma was pressuring him and the youngsters he had, and seemed to bilk her for cash where he could since she couldn't help but see something of herself in his latest proteges.

Afforded a life of relative comfort or at least enough of one where she managed to make rent on a hovel which was run by one of the lesser sleazebag landlords in town, Nadia spent her days bumping into merchants and strangers and using those deft digits, wits and her other charms to come away with enough to keep her roof over her head and some food in her belly. However, comfort seemed to also stimulate a more adventurous spirit within her in turn.

Through her interactions with travellers to the land learning this and that about the realms beyond the city she had grown up in and even countries outside of Desierto, she couldn't help but look toward the lands beyond her own with a sense of hope and optimism and longed to travel the world to make something more of herself. Knowing in some way that she was destined for more than just plucking heart strings and picking pockets, she knew there was something special waiting out there for her, and wanted to go out and find it.

This wanderlust seeming to build steadily within her to the point that she grew increasingly resentful of the pressure that Adin put upon her, she wasn't dumb enough to believe all of the tales he told and while she felt a certain responsibility toward him for raising her and the kids he had with her, ended up snapping at him for his greed. Jabbing at him and expressing her desire to go out there and be more than a thief, she sent him away, but found the man returning next time not with another plea for a handout but rather an opportunity for her.

Revealing that he and Rahma had been working on a job to make all of them a bomb and reckoning that they had a decent cut on the crew for her, he told Nadia that the payday they could make from it would see both of them right for a good long while, and would readily give her the money she needed to chase down those dreams of hers. Talking her into joining the scheme as a partner in it, they aimed to rob a ship at the docks which was carrying a Sheik's ransom in silk and spices which they could trade to the black market, and make quite the pretty penny in doing so.

Needing someone who could steal away into the port silently and whisk the craft away while they ran interference, he said that he had gotten too old to pull off the role personally, though had every confidence that his finest protégé could pull things off herself. Seeming to be proven right as she snuck into the harbour while Adin and Rhama's boys caused enough of a ruckus to draw the attention of the guards and workers, Nadia managed to set off in the heavily laden craft and was well on her way to success, but unfortunately was struck by disaster before she could hold up her end.

Drawing the craft away from the docks and heading for an inlet a matter of miles away where they might unload the cargo, unfortunately in doing so Nadia came across a rowboat which had a young brother and sister which had been swept up by the tide and into her path, and in the process of avoiding it lost control of her own craft. Crashing and bashing against rocks as she struggled against the weight of this overloaded boat, she ended up having to abandon ship when the boat turned over, and watched as their payday sank to the bottom of the sea.

Surviving the ordeal and providing the town with a tale when the sudden contents of the craft washed ashore, Nadia returned to her home both in defeat and debt along with it. Adin sympathizing with her choice but Rahma less so, he resented the fact that she had chosen to spare a couple of brats rather than their score, and was rather insistent that he be paid back for the money he had lost out on as well.

Adin trying to talk him down but silenced, the girl was told that she wasn’t going anywhere until the brutish gangster had his cut for the job from them, not only did he squeeze Adin all the more but made it his personal mission to ensure that Nadia was made to pay for her failure as well. 'Generously' allowing her to pay him back by the instalment plan, she regularly seemed to come back to the tiny room she lived in to find it turned over and him waiting with a couple of goons, he had her hand over what money she had or face his wrath either for the reluctance she showed or the increasing defiance she showed toward him.

Tempted on more than a few occasions to simply stow away on a ship and escape this to take her chances at sea, Rahma made it clear through roughing up a few of the fellows she had grown up with that if she skipped out on her debt others would pay it, and promised her that the second he heard she had stepped onto a ship he would burn Adin's house down with all those who lived there still inside.

As such Nadia left with little choice but to do what she could to try and whittle down what she was owed through any means she could find, she wanted the matter settled as soon as she could, and as such took to more daring work than simple pickpocketing. Sharing a similar dislike for violence as her 'father' but forced to become more opportunistic, she preyed upon open windows and the like as a burglar, and kept her ear open in taverns and marketplaces to hear of wealthier folks who were out of their houses for visits and vacations and the like.

Certainly not feeling all that good about what she did but needing to do this to have a hope of even getting a few meals a week and a roof over her head with how much Rahma seemed to demand of her, she pushed herself to work harder and harder in the hopes of leaving this torrid situation and those who caused it behind her. Though, as time has gone on, some part of her has started to worry if she will ever be free of this debt given the money she seemed to be raking in for her sardonically-called 'patron'…
