Kishin arrived at Boiling Rock, the infamous prison known for its location on a volcanic island in the middle of a boiling lake. The heat was oppressive, and the smell of sulfur filled the air. The guards, who seemed to take pleasure in the fear of new inmates, escorted him roughly to his cell. Kishin kept his head down, knowing that any signs of weakness would only make things worse.

His cell was small and cramped, barely big enough for him to stretch out. Another lich, who appeared to be uncommunicative and made strange noises at night, was his cellmate. Kishin didn't mind, as he was used to spending long periods of time in solitude. He sat on his small bed, contemplating the situation he found himself in.

Kishin had been wrongly accused of a crime he didn't commit, but he knew that protesting his innocence would fall on deaf ears. He was resigned to serving out his short sentence, even though he knew that his time in Boiling Rock would be difficult. Becoming a lich recently had broadened his tolerance to escape dangerous situations, but the island's location and the warden's strict security measures made that boring.

Kishin closed his eyes and began to meditate, letting the sounds of the prison fade away. He knew that he needed to stay inconspicuous and avoid drawing attention to himself. He had a feeling that his stay at Boiling Rock would be challenging, but he was determined to keep his cool and serve his time without incident.

Kishin remained in his cell for what seemed like hours, lost in thought. He tried to push away the memories of his wrongful contracts and adventures he had left behind. As a lich, Kishin will live a long time presumably, observing the rise and fall of civilizations, but the present's here, and there was no use dwelling on it too.

The sound of footsteps interrupted his meditation. Kishin opened his eyes to see one of the guards standing outside his cell, a look of disdain on his face.

"What are you doing, lich?" the guard barked. "You're supposed to be working in the mines."

Kishin rose to his feet, his movements slow and deliberate. He followed the guard out of the cell and down a long, narrow hallway, flanked on either side by other cells. The inmates inside them peered out at Kishin, some of them snickering or making rude gestures. Kishin ignored them, his focus on the task at hand.

The mines were located deep beneath the island, accessible only through a series of winding tunnels and staircases. The heat grew more intense the farther they descended, and Kishin could feel his undead body begin to creak. The air was thick with dust and the stench of sulfur.

Kishin was assigned to a work crew of other inmates, most of them human. They were a ragtag bunch, worn down by years of hard labor and endless hours in the mines. Kishin knew that he would have to keep his wits about him if he wanted to avoid trouble.

The work was grueling. They were tasked with digging out tunnels and hauling carts of rocks and ore back to the surface. Kishin used his considerable strength to lift and move the heavy loads, doing his best to keep up with the others. Despite the physical strain, Kishin remained stoic, showing no signs of fatigue or discomfort.

The other inmates began to take notice of Kishin's strength and endurance. They whispered among themselves, some of them speculating that he was using magic to keep going. Kishin ignored their murmurs, knowing that he needed to remain inconspicuous.

As the workday dragged on, Kishin found himself lost in thought once again. He wondered how long he would have to endure this daily routine, and what he would do once his sentence was up. The thought of freedom was tantalizing, but Kishin knew that he had to stay focused on the present if he wanted to survive. He gritted his teeth and continued to work, his eyes fixed on the endless rows of rocks and dirt stretching out in front of him.

Time was an illusion, and Kishin's routine remained the same. He spent his days working in the mines, hauling heavy loads of rocks and ore alongside the other inmates. He kept his head down and avoided drawing attention to himself, his undead body seemingly impervious to the heat and physical strain.

Kishin's cellmate remained uncommunicative, his strange noises at night the only indication that he was still alive. Kishin didn't mind the silence, preferring to spend his downtime lost in thought or meditating.

The other inmates began to take notice of Kishin's stoicism and strength. They whispered among themselves, speculating about his true nature. Some believed him to be a powerful mage, using magic to enhance his abilities. Others whispered that he was a masochist, seeking out pain and discomfort as a form of self-flagellation.

Kishin ignored their gossip, knowing that he had to remain inconspicuous if he wanted to avoid trouble. The guards, however, began to take notice of him. They seemed to relish the opportunity to torment the lich, finding pleasure in his lack of reaction to their taunts and jabs.

One day, while Kishin was working in the mines, he overheard two guards talking about a plot to escape. They spoke in hushed tones, but Kishin's acute hearing allowed him to catch every word.

Kishin knew that the plan was doomed to fail. The warden was cruel and cunning, and the prison's location on a volcanic island in the middle of a boiling lake made escape nearly impossible for non-protagonists. But he couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy at the inmates' bravery. They were willing to risk everything for a chance at freedom, while Kishin was resigned to serving out his sentence.

Time came to it's end, and Kishin's sentence drew to a close. He had survived his time in Boiling Rock without incident, his stoicism and strength earning him the grudging respect of the other inmates. He felt no sense of satisfaction or pride in his accomplishment, knowing that it was simply a matter of survival.

On the day of his release, Kishin boarded the gondola that would take him off the island. The heat of the boiling lake was oppressive, but Kishin felt nothing. He gazed out at the endless expanse of water, his thoughts turning to the future.

Kishin knew that he could never go back to his old human life. The stigma of his wrongful conviction would follow him, and he had no desire to return to the world of the living. Instead, he decided to seek out a new purpose, one that would allow him to use his strength and endurance to their fullest potential.

As the gondola carried him away from Boiling Rock, Kishin closed his eyes and began to meditate. He felt a sense of calm wash over him, knowing that he had survived the prison's harsh conditions and emerged stronger for it. The future was uncertain, but Kishin knew that he was ready for whatever lay ahead.
