The enemies of the high priest were on their tail, thus making them the enemies of Alejandro and Happy by extension. What were they to do? Run to the North and bring the assassins to the very place they needed to be? Alejandro was quickly thinking of a plan to keep them safe. The Rune Knights that had been traveling with them were all likely dead which meant that there was only the Lieutenant left to protect the priest and the orb. Something told the young elf that the Orb was more important though and so if they needed to they would have to prepare to leave the priest behind. Of course they wouldn't plant such thoughts in their brain, not when they could help it. The sky began to darken. Already the sun had been finding its way to bed. In a matter of minutes it would be evening.

The High Priest ran beside Happy and Alejandro. He was worried that he wouldn't be able to keep up, but he pushed his way through. Alejandro kept their eyes peeled as did the exceed. The enemy could have been anywhere at any time, just watching and waiting for the right time to strike. These weren't just any ordinary assassins, these were skilled assassins and from the looks of things it was safe to assume that they weren't Fiorian. If they should make it out alive, this would be something important to report to their superiors. The trees kept the Assassins well hidden. This was one of those moments where the Celdrua had wished they had taken magic practicing more seriously. They never had the need to use spells so when they were learning they never truly soaked in the information from the lessons. They were regretful about it now, because some super vision would have come in handy.

Running through the outskirts of Baska and through the forests reminded Ale of a game they used to play with their cousins back when they used to visit them in Worth Woodsea. One person would be the "chaser" and the others would run and hide. The rules were simple; they could only use the trees. If any of them fell or touched the ground they would be the new chaser if they were caught. Elves were naturally scentless, thus making the game all the more interesting. Not to mention they were extremely light-footed. The difference between this moment and the times Alejandro shared with their cousins was that at this very moment their life was on the line. What would happen if the Assassins caught them? Would they chop their body up and discard it into the rivers? or would they do something far worse? Elven ears were worth a fortune.

If the thieves wanted to they could catch two different "come ups." Alejandro stopped for a moment to allow the Priest to catch his breath. At the rate they were moving the old man would pass out within the following moments. Herald stopped with his hands upon his needs, waving his hand for another drink out of the flask Alejandro had offered him before. The Elf obliged, grabbing the container and passing it to the old man. Happy kept his eyes peeled. He watched the surroundings incase someone decided to get frisky. Of course Alejandro was being cautious as well. Now that they were a dragon slayer, their nose could pick up any foreign scent and any familiar scent. In a sense it acted as a danger signaler. They couldn't tell exactly where an enemy was but they could tell how close they were. The Lieutenant took the flask back after about three minutes.

That was more than enough time to rest. Herald still held on tightly to the box in his hand. He wouldn't let it go if his life depended on it. In no time the trio continued moving, this time they weren't running. They decided to take their time for the Sake of Herald the Priest and so that they wouldn't blindly run into an enemy. The journey ahead seemed like it was going to be a quiet one. Although the Priest didn't have much combat experience, even he was focused on making sure an enemy wasn't nearby. The danger of this quest was more than Alejandro initially anticipated. Alas, there was nothing they could do about it now. They were in too deep. Joining the Rune Knights and elevating so fast put them in a lot of danger, and to be quite frank it was very much above their pay grade.

The Earth was moist and the trees were dampened. Branches were soft so even stepping on a twig wouldn't make too much noise. The forest smelled sweet, sappy aroma filled their nostrils. So far so good, they thought. It was a little too quiet though. Still, since there were no Assassins as of this moment, the Elf decided to watch the birds find their way home. It was getting late now. The sun was hidden deep behind the clouds and the stars in the skies began to reveal themselves. Soon enough the fire flies would come out to dance. As the trio moved forward, they pushed loose branches out of their faces and leapt over logs. The walk was not over. They had some way to go but if the gods allowed it they would all get to their destination safely. At some point the Priest began to pray to himself.

He was confident that his god would pull through and grant them safe passage. However, it was as though Illumin himself would rather see them struggle. Perhaps it was the God of creations way of building a plot or a magnificent story, but as soon as Herald stopped his prayer, two Assassins jumped down from the trees with their weapons drawn. They wore black hoods and white silver iron masks. Alejandro pushed both Happy and the high priest behind them. They had already killed about four Assassins back when they were first ambushed, two more shouldn't have been that much of a struggle. Without another moment of hesitation, the Assassins darted forward. Alejandro used their arms to black an attack from the first one but was kicked in the belly by the second one. They reacted quickly though, elbowing the one who had just attacked them in the face causing him to stumble.

The other Assassin just wouldn't let up. The masked assailant darted forward and past the elf, slicing across their leg. The Other assassin, in an attempt to make a comeback darted forward in the same way, except this time the Lieutenant responded by sweeping his leg, causing him to fall before slamming his foot into the mans neck. Just like that, he was done for. Quickly, the other Assassin made their way towards the priest who held the box. Happy quickly flew into the air as the priest stumbled onto the floor and dove onto the assassins head, knocking him out instantly. Alejandro turned and gave a thumbs up to their partner before they hit the road again. Walking was obviously going to cause them to run into a lot of enemies. If these two Assassins were still on their trail then there were bound to be others. There was no time to waste. Enjoying the scenery would have to wait.

Alejandro grabbed the priest and pushed him forward. It was just their luck having their life being dependent on an old man with hardly any stamina. When it all fell down to it, the priest was the one who could have gotten them killed if he continued to have trouble keeping up. It was at that moment that the young Celdruan had decided. Stopping for a second, they crouched in front of the priest and told him to hop on. At first the priest was hesitant. It must have been embarrassed having to be carried by a "Kid". Of course he was a smart man, he understood that pride didn't matter if you were dead. The old man hopped onto the Alejandro's back and they zoomed through the forest. Happy on foot would have a hard time keeping up, but with his ability to fly he was able to match his partners own speed.

Suddenly it happened again. This time attacks rained down on them. The Lieutenant, who had no spells to use and no items on them simply continued running. They could only hope that Herald wasn't too badly injured. As if fate had a knack for comedy, the old man shouted out loud. His leg had been struck by an arrow. Gritting his teeth he cursed before groaning in pain. Just a little longer Alejandro thought. The trio didn't stop moving. The Assassins would have to keep up with them by leaping from tree to tree if they wanted to obtain this mystical relic. Alejandro and Happy zigzagged through the forest though. They made sudden left turns and sudden right turns, trying to keep the assailants off their trail. The Dragon Slayer could hear leaves rustle as they moved in different directions, it made it easy for them to know when the Assassins were still following them.

When the leaf rustling finally stopped, Alejandro slowed down. It seemed like they lost the Asassins, at least for now. Now, however, they had another problem. Bartholomew Herald, the High Priest of the Cathedral in Crocus was hurt. When it felt safe, the elf let the old man down gently. They quickly assessed the leg and realized that the arrow went straight through. Happy searched around for two logs or sturdy branches as Alejandro gave Herald something to bite down on. First, they snapped the back half of the arrow then on the count of three they pulled the arrow out of heralds leg. Unfortunately he would bleed out if Alejandro wasn't fast enough, but fortunately for him, Alejandro had done this before. The young Stellan grabbed a sturdy twig and ripped off a piece of their shirt. They wrapped the cloth around the wound tightly using the twig and used the extra piece of cloth to tie it. Just like that, the bleeding had stopped.

Herald used the sturdy branches that Happy found to help him walk. He would need crutches for a while but he would be alright. Anything was better than bleeding out. The rest of the trip would be a walk in the park, Alejandro hoped. The Assassins couldn't have been fast enough to keep up with them right? Still, they could't be too sure. They made sure to keep all their senses tuned to their surroundings, any little leaf shuffle any potential foot step, any scent would be theirs to pick up. Oddly enough the last few Assassins had escaped the power of their Dragon Slayer nose, but they wouldn't do it again. Alejandro had been so overwhelmed, but they would see this through. They turned to happy for a moment, noticing that the exceed was also exhausted. They all were. Luckily for them the city of Orchidia became clear as day.

Ochidia city, arguably the most beautiful city in all of Fiore. Even more beautiful than the capital. Unlike the capital it wasn't infested with buildings and pollution. Orchidia city was the home of wild plants and occasionally animals. The air had a slightly sour aroma, but it was fresh nonetheless. The Elf turned to both of their traveling partners with a smile on their face. At last, they had made it to Orchidia. A look of relief overtook all of their faces as they tiredly strolled into the city. It was everything the Elf had imagined. Sure some of the buildings were crumbling, but contrary to popular belief there were people here. They seemed happy too and the city looked much better since they last saw it. They had heard about the guild master of a dark guild doing some cleaning...which was odd. Nonetheless, they had made it here safely. Perhaps Herald's god came through after all.
