This took place before their fight. Before Jove hunted down Hitomi, and before he and Seika clashed blades. This was the predecessor to their conflict; this was their cooperation.

The two would make their way to Baska's Outskirts, both as fully equipped as they could be. Jove held his scythe, already transformed into his Takeover form. The two walked from the city of Baska towards the outskirts, two people alone sent to deal with a menace which could wipe out the city.

It felt strange that, for such a monumental threat, that only two individuals were needed to stop it. It was a show of force by the Rune Knights, proving that they had two individuals in their midst who could stop any level of threat. "I am better with close range. How do you see yourself handling this?" The goal was that the two of them could sync up their approach to this fight, ensuring that they were both entering combat with an understanding of one anothers roles. After Seika answered, Jove would come to a halt. They were both far away from Baska now, the city in their distance. Jove took a deep breath and sighed.

"The dragon should be here soon. I guess we just wait..?"

Bone's popped and shifted as Seika exited the inn alongside Jove. His shoulder had been doing something fierce to him in his sleep for the past few days and it was finally starting to grate on his nerves. It was like one of those random aches that never actually amounted to any pain or lose of movement in the limb, just discomfort. Like a clot or pinched nerve. He had tried rolling it several times by now but at this point it was just not going to suffice what he wanted to do. But that wasn't going to stop him from performing the motion again and again if only to ease his own mind.

The two had been dispatched to handle a rather ominous threat to the region. A Dragon had been spotted in the area, what type and power level wasn't yet known but Dragon sightings weren't to be taken lightly. Fortunately for the citizens of Baska, two of the top ranking Rune Knights in active service at the moment had actually been stationed in the west for awhile now to handle disorder and unrest in the region so it was as simple as ordering them both to handle the Dragon.

Glancing over to Jove, Seika heard the man's question before shrugging, his massive shoulders finally popping the nerve back to place and easing his tension. A cathartic shudder oozed through his body as relief finally washed over him. "Ohhhh... Sorry about that, anyway, I'm good at any range really. I prefer mid-range so that I can pivot if necessary."

Seika's fighting style was always that to match whatever he was fighting at the time, possessing a wide variety of tools and spells to cover most if not all issues that he came across. A Jack-of-all-trades if you will, and soon to be master of some if his hard work and determination was to be believed. Sol had blessed him with a powerful body and essence, it would be utter blasphemy to waste it all. "I guess we shall, I wonder how large it'll be. You know, being a dragon and all."

It was an utterly ridiculous question but they were about to fight a dragon so... yeah.

"Sounds good."

In the distance, a humanoid figure became apparent. Jove would stop walking at this point, his partner likely doing the same, as Jove slowly reached for the scythe which housed itself on his back. Grasping it and spinning it to his front, the word Superbia would be mumbled under his breath. The transformation would be immediate, engulfing his body in flames and smoke for but a second before dissipating and revealing his altered form.

The humanoid form was moving quickly, it seemed, as now Jove could identify features of its form. A long scaled tail was enough to assure Jove that this was the threat which they waited for, but there were other things that grew apparent as it closed the distance. Horns on their head, draganoid arms which rippled with muscle and ended in sharp claws. It was a female figure, but the strongest looking female figure he had ever seen.

"Halt!"

Jove yelled it out without expecting success, and thus was surprised when it actually stopped mid charge at the sound of his voice. Glancing at his coworker, his eyebrows had raised to actually show the shock on his face. He most definitely hadn't anticipated this.

"Turn back now!" Jove shouted out the next command, at this point unsure of what to expect. The dragon raised its hand above its head, and before one could even question what this motion was for, it became apparent. A large, dark purple orb appeared above her head, a twisted grin on her face.

"Oh, fuck."

As she flung it forward, the spell traveling faster and further than other spells would, Jove sprinted to the side and leapt. It was a massive orb, one that would successfully force Jove and Seika to split up.

Jove landed his leap with a roll, immediately standing and charging forward. It seemed negotiation was dead, and their battle would now commence.

Seika received a relatively simple reply from his partner that left him not necessarily wanting, but definitely put off just a tad. It wasn't enough however to draw attention to it or to create a scene so he kept his thoughts to himself and planned out his moves ahead of time. It was not meant to be however as a figure seemed to approach from the distance at a speed and ferocity that wasn't all that common in Fiore, it was something that left Seika with a bit of pause but only forced him to harden his features as his hands clenched themselves into makeshift claws.

The Knight watched Jove as he stepped up to face the menace, ordering it to halt before them. Seika wasn't too positive that such a thing would actually happen, but for whatever reason the being decided to listen to the order. It was surprising at first, but clearly the being didn't intend on actually following his partner's directions for too long because after being told to turn around, the Woman decided that she had had enough of their foolishness and conjured a large ball of magic in her hands before throwing it at them at a speed that apparently neither were comfortable with.

Frowning, Seika would leap to the side, a bit slower than his partner but still enough to avoid the attack aimed at them. He wasn't able to ascertain the element of the attack, even as it flew past him, it merely radiated pure destructive power. Turning his head back to regard the creature, he frowned and reached down for the hilt of his blade, the heat around him increasing as he began to dig into his magical reserves in preparation of a fight.

As Seika and Jove leapt out of the way of the attack, the dragon did something that neither of them could have expected. The feminine body broke away into magicules, tiny snowflakes of pure mana drifting into the wind. Jove turned his gaze to his partners, hoping to identify whether or not his coworker was able to somehow keep track of the dragon, and what he saw instead was the form of the female dragon directly behind Seika. She grinned, her arm turning grey scaled and growing a dragons claw. A partial transformation! She stabbed her hand forward, too fast and too sudden for Seika to do anything about it.

And then, Jove grinned. The Reversal, a technique given to him by Lucifer, which would reflect the damage he himself received back to an opponent. As a Spellhowler, however, Jove could cast his supplementary spells on allies. That meant that as the claw pierced through Seika's stomach, the dragon's mouth open and coughed up blood. The damage had been reflected back to her, but more importantly, had been completely negated on Seika. Her stomach suddenly ripped open, blood flying as her own attack left her damaged. Jove's eyes widened as he noticed an immediate mending of her skin, slowly at the edges. She can heal?! He was caught off guard by this.

The dragon whipped her head towards Jove, having somehow immediately deduced that he was the one who had cast that. And yet, the grim grin upon his lips had not gone. She had begun stumbling back after receiving the damage, sure. Her wings even spread wide and begun to flap. She'd be in the sky, and out of their range, in just a moment. However, Seika was still within a couple of meters of her, and he'd likely realize that she had just tried to sneak attack him from behind. She would find out soon why this man was Jove's equal.
