Poropo had arrived within Baska all the way from Magnolia by train. The train ride was much more pleasant than his first ever train ride - the monk was not assaulted or maimed in any way. The monk also did not have to attack curtains in order to open them. After the long train ride, the monk noticed stares in his direction as if people recognized him - Poropo blushed a little at the thought of being recognized for his kind deeds, but then Poropo remembered West Fiore was a place riddled with impurity! If someone from Eternal Nightmare recognized him, then he would be in deep trouble much sooner than he had anticipated! Poropo had hoped he would not be the talk of the west until he began taking care of the impurity, not as soon as stepping off the train and entering Baska! Poropo was worried for his old life.

After stepping off the train and seemingly getting stares of recognition, Poropo went into a nearby alleyway and summoned the Immortal Carpet in order to cover himself a little. Being made of a flexible, light-based material, the Immortal Carpet was able to drape over the monk and shield his face from the public's eye. The monk did not like the idea of going around the whole of West Fiore covered in a metallic carpet, especially not a metallic angel shaped like an ornate carpet - the monk felt he was disrespecting the Iron Deity's legion of angels by using them as tools! Granted, the metallic angels looked a little like tools to be used. As the monk used the Immortal Carpet to cover his image, the monk looked around for a way to earn some money while also slaying impurity - there was an upcoming tournament on the top of the rock.

The rock on the job description must refer to the Great Baska Rock, but the monk could only be sure by accepting the job and going to the gentleman who requested help with something relating to the tournament. The monk waddled his way through Baska and eventually found a high class establishment which seemed to train fighters - the monk did not know why a job posting was put up if this establishment trained fighters, but the monk would not ask too many questions if he did not feel he needed to. After all, the point of taking this job was to earn some money and perhaps teach some individuals fighting is not fun nor worth the money! The monk took a pause as he questioned his own logic, but decided this was a good endeavor to be taking - the monk did need to get better at fighting sooner, not later.

Poropo waddled into the fighting establishment and asked around for the person who made the job offer. Eventually, the monk came across a rather small individual who looked frail. The frailness was not the same was the monk's old bones - this person seemed unable to gain muscle despite training so hard which must be frustrating. However, the monk learned this person was a co-founder of this fighting establishment and needed the help of a real fighter with experience, such as Poropo. The monk hesitated and felt he needed to tell the truth about himself - the monk was not experience in fighting at all! However, the monk had already accepted the job and was simply hearing the explanation - the monk never quit a job after accepting, which was a bad habit the monk would need to learn to break free from while staying within the rough and tumble of West Fiore.

The monk accepted the job of not just defeating the current champion of the Great Baska Rock, but of winning the while tournament! Poropo felt he would need to be doing too much fighting to be considered training - the monk would need to plow through several opponents and eventually fight a consistent winner of the Great Baska Rock Tournament! The monk coughed as he processed the information - currently the monk was wearing the Immortal Carpet over his body to obscure his appearance, but this seemed to spark an idea as he coughed his lungs out in surprise and shock. The monk believed he could keep wearing the Immortal Carpet, buff the Immortal Carpet if necessary, and fighting using the Immortal Carpet as if fighting bare-handed! The monk felt like a genius upon thinking of this idea but needed some air in order to stop himself from coughing his heart out.

Poropo left the fighting establishment and made his way to the Great Baska Rock where he was already signed up as a representative of the fighting establishment he had just received the job from. Before officially stepping foot on the top-most part of the Great Baska Rock, the monk cast a couple spells on the Immortal Carpet to buff the strength and speed of the metallic angel. The speed of the Immortal Carpet mattered little when the metallic angel was draped over the monk's body to conceal his identity, but there was always a chance the monk would need to flee! As the monk officially stepped foot on the Great Baska Rock, the tournament announcer recognized the concealed monk as the representative - there must have been some sort of timing involved or long-distance communication which the monk was not aware of. Regardless, the monk was introduced and set up already.

The tournament had been set with and numbers were handed out. Poropo was number sixty-four, the last participant to show up - Poropo did not know what to think of being the last person, but he did figure out how many matches he would have to participate in. A grand total of six matches would be awaiting the monk on this day - a difficult number of fight matches to wrap his bald head around, but a number he would need to overcome in order to be paid. However, the monk also intended to teach his opponents a lesson - fighting was not worth the fun or money! The irony still did not escape the monk, but he figured practice made perfect - impurity would not defeat itself! Poropo was the last match of the round of sixty-four to be called - Poropo entered the small ring and hoped his opponent would surrender right away.

Poropo's opponent looked like a normal person. They even sounded like a normal person as they introduced themselves as Poropo's opponent this round, which the monk reciprocated in return. The monk was not sure what to do next and just waited with commands ready for the Immortal Carpet to execute - if the monk played his cards right, he would be able to defeat his person easily. A bell rung, shocking the monk a little - the monk was not aware a device would need to be used to signal the start of a fight when the announcer had announced everything up to this point! Thankfully, the Immortal Carpet was ready to protect Poropo and defeat the opponent who was just a normal person without magic or equipment at their beck and call. Poropo felt a little bad at how easily the Immortal Carpet was able to dispatch this normal person today.

The normal person did not seem willing to fight anymore after being flung out of the small ring made of chalk, which somewhat pleased the monk to know - one of the three reasons the monk was fighting was to discourage future fighting. As the round of sixty-four ended, the round of thirty-two began - the monk was eventually paired against a larger looking fellow who seemed more capable of fighting than the normal person Poropo had seen being flung out of the ring by the Immortal Carpet when they got too close. However, this new person was also no match for the buffed carpet as the Immortal Carpet also flung this new individual out of the ring with ease. Poropo was sure this tournament would go in his favor the more matches he fought, but there was always the looming chance the champion was also cheating just as the monk was.

The monk went onto his next match and the match thereafter and finally the last round before the finals. The Immortal Carpet seemed to like flinging people out of the small ring on the top of the Great Baska Rock. There was a thrill developing for the metallic angel who had not seen action since first being summoned - the original purpose of summoning the Immortal Carpet on this day was to conceal the monk's visage from the general public since he was too famous due to his positive reputation and the contract on his head. The monk was able to fight thanks to the Immortal Carpet, but the champion might prove the monk wrong for the first time in this whole tournament! Only time would let the monk and carpet know if this job was a mistake or not. After the monk finished his final match, the champion stepped out.

The champion was a small woman wearing intricate garments. These garments were shed as she stepped into the ring in order to greet the battle-hardened monk, noting how awfully still the monk has been standing despite flinging people out of the ring, as if using his mind to move the carpet currently concealing his appearance. Poropo shivered and had a feeling this well-dressed champion used magic to fight - this was eventually proven as the young woman bowed to the monk and slowly ripped and swelled with muscles underneath her skin. This woman was obviously a powerful magic to be able to buff herself this much so quickly! The monk was not sure what to do as the Immortal Carpet started silently panicking as well - even though the Immortal Carpet was getting a thrill out of throwing people around, this last person seemed too large to just throw! Poropo panicked more.

The monk started to run around the small ring confining the buffed champion and himself - Poropo was attempting to coax the Immortal Carpet to act instead of shivering on the top of the monk's body. The monk could not just summon and buff a whole new metallic angel from the Iron Deity's legion - the monk was not sure if blatant magic was allowed! The monk also did not have time as the buff champion started impacting the ground behind the monk, obviously trying to impact the back of Poropo if not for his slippery running. The monk skipped around the small ring and eventually got the Immortal Carpet to fight back after noticing the woman was not actually damaging the ground upon impact - there was a chance this woman was bluffing! As Poropo stopped running around in circles, the Immortal Carpet flicked a tassel at the flying fist of the buff woman and swatted her out of the ring - she was all show, not substance. The monk got his reward and felt satisfied with his performance, thanking the Immortal Carpet, too.
