This time around, it was Shichiro sitting in a pub waiting for his cousin to arrive. Once again, the church had another request pouring out of their ass. Seems they couldn't go a day without trying some sort of freaky religious experiment. Shichiro had hoped they could have been more like the church located in Dahlia. Though that chapel was also creepy as hell, it didn't have undead problems. It occasionally had the werewolf or vampire problem but that was a hell of a lot better than an undead problem. Despite those two being harder to dispatch than undead, at least there weren't hordes of them.

Well, he couldn't get what he wanted so he stopped dwelling on it. Well at the pub, he had ordered an applejack cider in order to calm his nerves before going on this excursion. It's not like he was doing anything new, it's just he was assigned a third person for this trip and he didn't know how useful he would be to the request. Well, he figured he'd just stop worrying about it and deal with whatever comes their way when he has too. For now, he just sits there and waits for his cousin, his drink and the third member of the team.

Seika frowned as he strolled down the streets of Oak at night. He had been in Oak for far longer than he had planned. It seemed as if he was destined to be permanently stationed in the location considering he wasn't able to leave the place no matter how much he tried too. With a salty huff, he would push that issue to the side however for the more pressing and relevant reason for his irritation as he thought back to the request that had come across his way. It seemed the church once again required his services, or rather the Rune Knights services in cleansing their catacombs of the undead and spiritual existences that seemed to consistently inhabit the dark dank depths beneath the church. Such a place was not somewhere Seika wanted to spend extended periods of time in, but he had very little choice in the matter as he was immediately assigned the request alongside another recent recruit and the newly appointed Kingsguard. His frown only grew at the thought of the man, while he wasn't familiar with the person himself, the thought that there was even a Kingsguard in their generation was slightly daunting if not worrying. It was little wonder what such an event would bring to Fiore in the coming months.

His pondering lasted up until he arrived at his location, a bar on the east side of town near to the church. It was apparently the locale that he was to meet the two men at and as such, Seika would move inside himself so that he could get this mission over with.

Keita headed down the cobble stone streets of Oak towards the pub where he was going to meet his cousin for more undead killing. This was something that became somewhat of a habit now that he was in oak, and it was just some sort of failing of the church, and Keita was not happy with them at all. Still, this was a place that was essentially taken over by a dark guild, and if they were not going to help out the people with the hordes of undead, no one was going to, as the dark guild seemed to simply leave everything alone and get other people to deal with it.

Keita finally reached the pub that he and his cousin had met up in multiple times now, and so he simply walked in and walked right towards the bar, and it seemed that his cousin Shichiro was already there, so it was great. "Heya Shichiro, how long have you been here? Hope I'm not late." Keita would say, before walking up to the bar keep and ordering a drink. The bar keep had been serving him drinks nearly every day for a while, so he already knew what Keita wanted, and poured it for him without a word. "So, I heard there's another person on the job today?"

Sitting there waiting, Shichiro's companion, Panther Lily, had been sitting on a stool next to him. His silent companion had also waited for the other two knights to arrive. Just as Shichiro waz being brought his drink, his cousin Keita had arrived in the establishment and took a seat next to him. He was greeted by him and Shichiro had responded with, "Yo, what's up Keita? Nah, I haven't been here too long. As you can see, I got my drink as you walked in so it's all good, now all we have to do is wait for that third person to show up and have a look at him."

With that, Shichiro grasps the mug with his right hand, bringing it to his lips in order to take his first sip Afterwards, he placed it back on the counter top before continuing with his conversation. "Yeah, there's definitely another person with us today. Can't say it's of any consequence to me but the more the people, the faster we can clean up this mess. Or he becomes undead food and he becomes one more job for us to clean up. I hope it isn't the latter because most mages that become undead become a specter most of the time. Sometimes a lich, depending on their affinity," Shichiro said a bit dryly.

Glancing about the lively pub, Seika could easily say that it wasn't very hard to find the two individuals that he was tasked to work with. Both stood out just by virtue of being the only Rune Knights in this rather seedy establishment, well that and he already knew what he was looking for considering the fact they weren't undercover. He would approach the two mages quietly, maintaining line of sight on the both of them before nodding and saluting Shichiro as was customary to do so. "Page Seika reporting for duty". His introduction would be as short and sweet as usual, his hands already returning by his side by time the words had left his mouth. His eyes glanced over both men with an appraising glance before returning to his superior officer, it wasn't like he could gauge someone's strength from pure line of sight alone, he would have to see what they were made of in the catacombs themselves.

He would remain standing there, even if offered a seat or a drink, it wasn't so much that he was disregarding any potential hospitality or comradery, it was just simply that he wished to start and end their task as soon as possible.

Keita walked to the bar and sat on the stool, taking the drink that the bar keep set in front of him, and soon there was a response from his cousin, saying that there actually was someone else joining thier request, and that it would make it faster. Keita nodded, agreeing with that, when he suddenly heard a person being a very formal with Shichiro, saluting and doing the customary greeting that Rune Knights did when addressing a higher ranking officer. Keita thought it was funny, considering Shichiro's demeanor, that the man would go up and salute him.

Keita would not make fun of the man, as that was not his style, he simply gave a light bow to the man and introduced himself, before sitting back down to enjoy his drink. "Nice to meet you Seika, I am Keita, a Page as well." Keita was respectful, and then started to sip his drink. He noticed that the other man here Seika was a little stiff, as if he just wanted to go ahead and do the mission, and it showed. Keita would unconsciously drink his alcohol a little faster than normal when thinking about that, as he wanted to be accommodating to new people.

Sitting at the bar, he had already exchanged pleasantries with his cousin and they were now waiting for the last member of the team to arrive. They had already known it was another Rune Knight so at least they were all a part of the same faction, most likely seeing each fairly often. Suddenly an unfamiliar voice came from behind him, causing Shichiro to turn around in order to look at the individual who had uttered those words to him. It was their third member, introducing himself to both himself and Keita. "So, the third member of this quest is here, joy" Shichiro had said dryly.

Reaching for his mug again, Shichiro lifted it towards his lips in order to take a bigger gulp than last time, attempting to finish his drink quickly. Putting it back on the countertop, Shichiro turned back towards the Page known as Seika and said, "You might as well take a seat and get a drink to relax the nerves. You see some scary shit down in those catacombs. By the way, the name's Shichiro Uchida. I guess I'd be the one in charge of this ragtag group. Welcome to this suicide mission," he said, turning back to his drink.

Blinking at the man's nonchalant response and appraisal of his appearance, would instead nod at the man's response. Turning to his fellow page, he'd give the boy a nod as well, acknowledging his presence as well as his greeting. Both men seemed to be rather content with their drinks, the beverages no doubt cool and refreshing, but Seika wasn't one to partake in alcohol while he was on the clock, or rather he wasn't particular to take part in much of anything while he was on the clock, preferring instead to get the job done quickly and efficiently. It wasn't much to say that he was definitely a stiff and a stick in the mud, but that's what made him good at his job, he took pride in ending prior engagements quickly and with little fuss, also he just didn't find alcohol interesting. The taste left much to be desired and his naturally warm body burned through any of the intoxicating effects, and the stronger stuff was just too flammable, he may enjoy a good fire, but even he didn't like exploding after taking a shot of fireball or moonfire. The names weren't too endearing too him after the effects neither.

Keita was a bit off put by the response, or lack there of, of the person he was talking to, but at least he got a nod from the man, and that was enough. He was going to return to his alcohol when Shichiro started speaking about having a bit of alcohol to relax the nerves, but Keita did not think that this was proper for everyone, and should have just let the guy decide on what he was going to do. Keita did not really mind if the guy just sat there for a bit while they had their drinks, but calling attention to it was something that was probably going to make the guy uncomfortable, and it seemed like that was the case, as he simply sat there and said nothing. He seemed a bit more professional than most, and Keita would most likely be similar, if he was not with Shichiro at the moment.

He felt like he could truly relax with his cousin, so he didn't really do the whole rank and file thing around him, especially because it seemed Shichiro did not want him to do that. Keita simply shrugged at the thought and slightly awkward context of the room before finishing up his drink and standing from his stool.

Well, that's just his luck, Shichiro thought to himself, he's got a hard ass for a third member of the team. Couldn't relax even for a minute. Knowing that he was on some kind of timer, Shichiro grabbed his mug one last time, brought it to his mouth and gulped down the last of his hard cider before placing the empty mug back down onto the counter. Wiping his mouth with his left hand, Shichiro stood up and spoke to the two of them. "Alright then, it seems we're just itching to get on with the request and so, that's what we'll do. Come, let's go to the church, I'll inform both of you on what today's target looks like."

With that, Shichiro had begun to walk towards the exit of the bar, signalling both Seika and Keita to follow him. As they walked towards the church, Shichiro had begun to inform them of their mark. Apparently, the church had labelled these strange zombie creatures 'Droags'. The Droag is a creature that is also called a 'zombie factory'. Droags are known to attack in the dark of night and often turn an entire village into zombies. No one knows where Droags come from and is rumored to have been formed by multiple undead fused together with dark magic. They were large, masses of flesh with five heads and two giant arms, while they had sticks for legs.

He could tell he had ruined the good cheer of his teammates by snubbing their hospitality. It wasn't intended to be that way, but he was as many would say a stickler for excellence and aptitude. He disliked wasteful actions and heavily despised wasting time nor actions on unnecessary tasks and objectives. This included things like sitting down and enjoying a brew with his current boss. Mentally sighing at his own constitution, Seika would turn away as the two men would finish up their drinks, already moving towards the door as the rowdy establishment roared with excitement and fervor. It reminded him of home oddly enough, one of the few memories he had left really.

It wouldn't take long for Shichiro and Keita to finish up their beverages and prepare to leave. Seika would still be relatively nearby the both of them as Shichiro began to speak up about their objective. Falling into step behind his superior, he listened closely as the man detailed what creatures they would be dealing with that evening. He had vaguely heard of the entities known as 'Droags', while they weren't common back in his homeland, such eldritch horrors were still whispered about by merchants that were part of the caravans that came by.

Keita nodded as he stood up, and so he started heading towards the door with the man names Seika, who seemed to still not feel like talking to either of them, and Keita wondered if he was going to be like this if they went on more requests like these in the future together. He hoped that the man would grow out of his no nonsense behavior, and although Keita was similar, he still knew how to have a good time, as one needed to not be so uptight about everything. The tighter the wire was strung, the sooner it would snap under the pressure. Then again, Keita didn't know the man personally, and he thought that perhaps the man was just acting like this while on a mission, and if he was put somewhere else outside, he would have a bit of fun.

They left the establishment to the cheers of some of the bar patrons, and it seemed that the entire bar was paying attention to what they were talking about and were egging them on with regards to the mission. "Droags huh? Weird that they would name these things. Makes me think that they expect them to be around for a very long while instead of being exterminated." Keita would input as they were walking out of the door.

Now that he's informed both of his teammates about the marked target ahead, he'd hope they'd be able to recognize them should they run into one or two. Placing his hands into his pockets, Shichiro walked until they came upon the church's courtyard. If he remembered correctly, the church was locked today and he had to take one of the alternate entrances which was a tunnel leading to an underground cavern just behind the church itself. Deciding to double check, Shichiro walked over to the main double doors, attempting to push them open in order to find they were indeed locked.

Letting out an audible sigh, Shichiro had no choice but to lead them around to the back of the church where there was a tunnel entrance. The thing about this entrance was they could go in but they can't leave the same way they came. It was a literal slippery slope that couldn't be traversed when going backwards. Well, here goes nothing. "Alright, here's the second entrance. We can go in this way but we'll have to exit through a different path. The hole is a bit cramped but it'll take you directly into the catacombs. I'll warn you guys though, there's a four meter drop at the very end so brace yourselves for a landing. We'll be coming out of the ceiling," Shichiro had instructed.

The thought of once again being submerged in that suffocating darkness gave Seika a bit of mental pause, the information of the Droags momentarily forgotten as he remembered his first foray into the catacombs beneath Oak city. For whatever reason there was, the church seemed to be of the mind that they had no obligation to maintain any of the lighting necessary underneath the chapel itself. It was one of the many, many gripes he had with the faulty organization, but it was definitely the one one he had currently with the incompetent sacks of sh-. Mentally sighing and bringing himself back into focus, he realized that his feet had dragged him along with his comrades. A slow blink and a turn of the head let him know that he was now in front of the church itself alongside Shichiro and Keita. It seemed that the church had closed down all of it's facilities this evening, this included locking up the building itself. With a frown, he turned and followed Shichiro around the building to apparently a secret opening that would lead them directly to the catacombs themselves. There was just one problem. Looking down the hole, he couldn't see the bottom. He couldn't see anything. He wasn't going to like this at all.

Keita was following Shichiro through all of the streets needed to get to the next part of their request, which was a simple tunnel leading down that was like a slide that went down directly into the catacombs. They went around the back of the church where the tunnel entrance was located, and when they did, Shichiro started to explain the method of going down there would be a one way trip, and that they would need to find another way out of the catacombs once they were down here. Keita nodded and was about to start heading into the tunnel, when Shichiro continued, saying that there was a fairly large sized drop off at the end that they should be ready for. Keita was glad that he did not jump the gun, aas that would have been terrible.

Keita then took a deep breath, facing away from the tunnel, and then slid down the slide into the depths of the catacombs. As he was sliding, he hugged a small wisp from his magic, as they glowed a deep purple light out to a fair distance, and so he could see when the drop off was. He decided to go first, as he had a great way of making light, and since they would be coming right in after him, they would be able to see the end of the tunnel as well.

And so their mission began just like that, Keita being the first one to take the imitative by jumping in with one of his wisp summons being used as a source of light. It was nice that he could count on his cousin to take the imitative for him as Shichiro didn't know a spell that could be used purely as a light source. His teacher didn't grant him such knowledge so anything he could have used would have been destructive. Since Seika seemed reluctant to jump into the tunnel slope, Shichiro decided it was in his best interest to go next.

Crawling into it, Shichiro began to slide down the tunnel. If he wasn't aware he was heading into a potentially dangerous request, he'd admittedly have a lot more fun with the slide. After a few moments, he appeared from the ceiling of the catacombs and landed onto the ground near his cousin, Keita. Dusting himself off Shichiro regained his composure and moved out of the way of the tunnel to make sure he wasn't crushed underneath Seika who should have been the last one to enter the catacombs. As he did so, Shichiro looked up towards the ceiling to find any sign of Seika.

His roiling thoughts were interrupted as Keita stepped up to the gaping maw of a hole that laid out before him. The yawning entrance seemed to swallow them all with its presence as his mind ran a mile a minute in trying to process the never ending darkness that laid before him. In all his days had he never seen such a sight, such a complete lack of Sol's embrace that could not be quelled with just a simple fire spell that he knew he was familiar with. It felt foreign, as if the immuteable darkness was taunting him with its existence. He knew that he shouldn't be afraid of such a thing, but he also knew that nothing came from having Sol's existence smothered. It was as if his body knew that diving into that darkness was death itself. And so when Keita summoned a wisp that banished said darkness from the hole, at least enough to see the expanse of the tunnel itself, Seika's mind could feel itself correcting the wrong. The yawning mass was no longer there. The never ending grasp was no longer there. With a simple shake of his head, he was back in the game.

After watching Shichiro position himself to move down the hole, he would set himself up to follow. Unfortunately with Keita having landed at the bottom the light source was no longer fully illuminating the hole. Fortunately however, the light was enough that Seika's mind wouldn't begin to conjure up the eldritch again. And with that, he moved to enter the tunnel, taking a similar approach to the others, he slide along the pathway until he reached the drop before catching himself and lowering and allowing his body to drop without the momentum of sliding. He would land side by side the others and look about the dank catacombs with a wary glance. There was absolutely nothing good down here.

Keita suddenly felt that his feet and body were not touching a solid surface anymore, and he saw that the pale purple light of his wisp was illuminating the ground, which was quite a far drop. He was ready and waiting for this, and with his ability in martial arts, he was used to shifting his body around, and so he knew to roll with the force. It still stung, but at least he did not hurt anything, there would be no bruises for him today. He got up and stretched, and walked away from the landing zone, as he assumed the other people would be there fairly quickly, and he was correct. A few moments after he walked out of the way, he heard the sliding sound of his cousin heading down the slide.

Keita simply summoned a couple more wisps, as they were easy and had almost no combat ability, so it was good to use their pale glow as a light source. Shichiro landed near him and got out of the way,. and a few moments later Seika did the same. He noticed his cousin landed very smoothly, which made him admire him a bit more, as he wanted to be stronger. "So, point out the way, I'll have the wisps illuminate the area as we move." Keita would say, looking to Shiciuro for further instructions.

Landing into the cavern of the catacombs, Shichiro had looked around the area to see if he could spot anything out of the ordinary. it was normally a fairly dark area without the light of the wisps his cousin provided. Seika had also shown up in the area unharmed as well which was good. He didn't want a new page getting hurt under his watch or it would hurt his credibility as a Kingsguard. Looking around he noticed there were two pathways the both of them could take. He wasn't too familiar with the catacombs since most of the place looks mostly the same for the most part.

Deciding to pick a place at random, Shichiro silently pointed at one of the two pathways at random in order to go and seek out their mark or marks. Leading the way, Shichiro had kept one of the wisps his cousin had produced close to him as he needed it to see what was in front of him. Making his way through the pathway, he eventually came across another clearing that was lit with candles. There he spotted a large, grotesque creature seemingly giving birth to new undead. It was just as what was described to him and what he described to both of the Knights. Yep, this was indeed a Droag.

The catacombs were far colder than he had expected them to be. The dank enclosure seemed to grow smaller and darker with each second, even with the cool light provided by Keita's wisps. Seika's frown only grew at this, his mind subconsciously dredging up eldritch beings that could only exist in such an environment, his fingers clenching at these thoughts. His body involuntarily flexed as he brought forth a simple pilot flame from the palm of his hand, the magic seal barely appearing before the flame roared to life. He would give the two an apologetic if pathetic look, realizing that the sound and light may or may not give them away, but it was one of the few things he just couldn't help. There was nothing good from the darkness.

Watching as Shichirou decided a pathway for them to follow, Seika would nod and follow along behind him, the elder man clearly used to the catacombs and the beings that were held within. Their trek wouldn't take them too long, bringing them into a low hanging opening in the area, the space widening up to reveal one of the monstrosities that they were tasked to bring down. With a frown, Seika could see that the beast had noticed them, and with a gurgling slop had decided to add them to its collection.

Keita followed the direction that Shichiro pointed with his hand as he had decided which way to go, and the trail of his eyes found a rather dank and dark passageway. His dark aligned elemental magic was not the best at lighting the place up, but it was far better than nothing, and soon Keita saw a small torch like like spring forth from his companion's hand, indicating that he was a fire mage. This might be useful, Keita thought, as there was definitely one thing that the creatures of the night seemed to have a natural fear of, and that was fire.

This was also why Keita enjoyed doing these sorts of missions with his cousin, as he had seen his cousin here fire off a large amount of fire before this, so it was something that was spectacular at defeating the undead, especially the incorporeal ones that were like ghosts. Soon they walked down the particular hallway, the pale light from the wisps only aiding the slightly brighter light of the flame in Seika's hand, when they came across a large undead seemingly sloughing off another one. Keita was disgusted, but would still spring into action, sending a wisp through the air into the face of the undead, enraging it, and causing it to swing it's appendages towards the wisp. This gave a great opportunity for the others if they chose to act on it.

Now that the trio has encountered the Droag, it was time for them to start up combat. His cousin, Keita had already decided to take the initiative by sending his wisp first into attack the creature. The creature had swiped one of it's appendages toward it but narrowly missed. As the wisp began to distract the undead creature known as the Droag, Shichiro decided he'd use this time to prepare a fire spell he had learned recently from his teacher. Placing both hands together, he'd clap before inhaling deeply. After a few seconds of this, he'd spew a small stream of flames towards the undead creature as it was being distracted by the wisp.

He'd maintain his breath steadily as he continuously released the flames unto the undead fiend. it wouldn't have enough power to decimate the fiend but he could at least light it on fire to deal some continuous damage. He'd learn the undead were vulnerable to fire, even more so to light and decided he can use a weaker fire spell to ignite and weaken it. With the wisp distracting it and Shichiro burning the creature, it shouldn't be able to put up much of a fight. It would then be up to Seika to deal some sort of killing blow to it. If not, Shichiro would be the one to finish it himself.

The battle began as soon as the Droag had noticed the three. The skulking eldritch abomination would have attempted to close the gap on the three or even fire some of it's disgusting mass in their direction if it wasn't for Keita's quick work to distract it with his wisps. With the fiend distracted Seika would move quickly, the flame in his hands growing brighter as a magic seal appeared just in front of it. His body flexed with power as he swung hand in the direction of the Droag, the flame exploding from his hand with a burst of energy just as Shichiro unleashed his own gout of flames from his mouth. The fireball impacted the lumbering fiend around the same time, exploding violently just as it was set on fire from Shichiro's flames. The twin attacks looked like they had dealt a good deal of damage, but without more stopping power, Seika knew that he wouldn't be able to deal a decisive final blow. With this in mind, he also moved to set up one of his teammates to land the killing blow by quick firing his rapid spell, unleashing fireball after fireball at the creature up until one of the other two moved to finish it off.

The hulking figure was being besieged by Keita's wisp as if it was the world's most annoying house fly, constantly getting into it's face, but there was nothing it could do about it, considering it's appendages were large and swollen, and were not fit for the precise and quick movements necessary. When Keita was getting ready to send more wisps at it considering it's slow speed, he stopped that notion as suddenly a large torrent of fire burst forth from his cousin and shrouded the monster, as well as the man Seika also suddenly launching a bunch of fireballs towards them as well. This would destroy the will o wisp, but Keita did not mind, they were the definition of fodder enemies, so it was okay to see them go, they were good for distracting and for providing a bit of light, which seemed redundant now.

The sizzling and smell of burnt rotting meat was way worse than the other ways, and he thought that they might have had a different way to deal with the undead and the smaller one that was just born, but Keita supposed he was thinking too highly of the two. After a couple of seconds of char, the undead were reduced to ash, and Keita was just sitting there with a strange expression on his face.

After all was said and done, there was nothing left but a charred pile of ashes where the zombie factory used to be. On another note, it seems the fires between the two mages had spread enough that it also had burned the 'newborn' zombies as well. With that, it seems as if their job was done for the most part. All they had to do now was figure out where the heck they were going to get out of the catacomb. Going back the way was clearly out of the question unless one of the two mages can fly and were willing to fly each of them out one by one.

If not, then they were going to have to do it the long way feeling their way through the dark, literally. After waiting a few minutes to make sure the creature is truly dead, not healing or regeneration. Shichiro figured it was truly dead and went back through the tunnel he came, beckoning the other two to follow. He actually didn't know where he was going but he'd hoped he would find some way out of here. It was likely he was heading deeper but judging from some paths he took that led upward, he felt as if he was on the right track.
