Quest Description

The shabby houses and uneven, sandy path were literally all the the town comprised of. The dull sky loomed over the poorer town as clouds hid the sun behind it, letting the citizens fall under the shady hue that the clouds had to offer. She walked through the town, occasionally earning glances thrown her way from people who desperately seeker help. The adults hustled and bustled, trying to rush around to find ways to earn money. Contrarily, the children ran and played as smiled stained their faces despite their unfavorable circumstances.

After walking for a while, her steps halted as she saw a small, green dragon-like creature who seems oddly familiar. She had seen him around the magic council and was roughly aware of his work. Similarly, it appeared that he too knew about her. When their eyes met, he gave her a nod of acknowledgement, prompting her to come towards her as he began walking through the alleyway and she complied. At first they walked in silence, with him muttering words like “Look” occasionally when they passed someone, leaving her to think about what he wanted her to see. Rather, it was quite obvious as she glanced upon the citizens who tried their best despite being treated unfairly by the world around them.

Xandra, do you know why the rich remain rich?” He glanced at her as she looked up at the broken buildings that chipped away, looking unbearable and clearly, useless. The title ‘school’ stood out in bold but all she did was nod at his questions. It seemed he understood her before she even spoke. “Education. It’s needed to earn money to become rich but at the same time, you need to be rich to afford education. It quite an unfavorable cycle.”

He gave her a small smile once he realized that they were on the same page. “Yes. Just imagine how smart these people would be if only they had the chance to acquire knowledge. Their intelligence  would shine beyond our imagination.”

As time passed, his words fell towards the Rune Knights. His criticizing tone suggested that they should start recruiting people from these areas, not just because our of pity, but because it will be beneficial to both parties. To this, Xandra couldn’t help but agree as she nodded her head.

While his frustrating tone was slowly dying out, it was replaced with the laughter of children that reigned over all other sounds. She glanced to her right, only to find a bunch of young kids, no older than perhaps twelve years of age, as they ran around playing a game of tag with wide smiled adorned over their dirty faces. Before she realized, she has been staring at them for a few moments and by the time she has turned back around, Daragast was missing. Her eyes searched until they ended on the creature that stood in front of the poor noodles shop. With her hands resting in her pockets, she simply watched as he ordered ten cups of noodles before waking over to the kids and asking them to go enjoy their meal. They simply thanked him before running to the noodles shop, their faces unable to hide the excitement. It made her wonder how long they gone without food for.

As Daragast made his way back to her, he spotted her gaze aimed towards the children who were now slurping noodles. He let out a smile before going onto tell her the importance of supporting local shops and how the money they earn, improve the cycle of money around the town and subsequently, improves the standard of living, proving to be much more useful than simply giving children money for candy.

As he ended his wise words, they walked until they arrived towards the outskirts of the poor town where he couldn’t help but smile. He thanked her for listening to him and proceeded to give her reward which she rejected before hesitantly accepting as he insisted. With that, they parted ways as he hoped to see her again.
