After the previous request involving a ritual, Joan could not not expect Aadrian to send another request her way. She was too involved in his cult business already, but as long as she was earning money for her work, she did not mind. It gave her a chance to get in on what was going on with the town. So according to the information she had gathered after the few quests she had done in this town, it was obvious that Bishop Santos was not at all innocent, and Aadrian hated him. She wondered what it was about this time. Another dead body to bring back to life? She was guessing not. But truth be told, she was definitely expecting a letter to slip through the gap under her door that morning. She made lime juice and turned on the news. It was perfect timing, since they were talking about how a corpse went missing. She chuckled as she listened to the reporter make some stupid guesses about where the body might have been and who might have stolen it. None of his guesses included the Red Hades Cult, or Aadrian. He did mention that it could have been the work of a cult. Joan laughed and took a sip of her lime juice and went over to her window. The sun had risen a few hours ago and although it was a bit too early for Aadrian’s letter to come in, she was kind of just excited about it.

After an hour of being excited for a letter, she decided to take a nap. If anything was actually going to happen, she would be well rested for it. She finished her lime juice before doing so and changed the channel of her TV to a music channel and laid down on her bed. Even if she could not fall asleep, she would just lay there to rest until she had work to do. Eventually, she fell into a deep sleep and was woken up by the sound of something dropping and when she was fully awake, Joan realised that she had just pushed off her journal that she did not know she had by her pillow on the bed. She leaned over to pick it up, and from the corner of her eyes, she noticed something white on the rug in front of her door. It was a letter! Just like she had expected. Before going to get it, she looked up at the clock and noticed that she had slept for quite a long time. It was already five in the evening. Soon the sun would set. She realised that she would have to get up now and get ready. She did not even bother to look at the letter and went ahead to get ready first. She took a nice refreshing shower and got dressed. She was wearing a black sweater this time, and since it was not that cold, she decided not to wear her jacket.

The first place that Joan was supposed to go was to the cemetery once again. She picked up the letter to read it and remembered everything there was for her to remember. The TV was still playing music and she turned it off right after she was done getting dressed. She made coffee this time. She did not have time to bother going to a cafe when she could make a cup of instant coffee and just drink it before going for the job. Aadrian did not specify the exact details of the request again, so she was supposed to go and find out for herself. Since Aadrian wanted to meet her at the cemetery again, she wondered if it was going to be about another dead body, but she kind of figured that since he was part of a cult, of course his work was going to be related to the dead in some way. The vampyress left her inn after finishing the cup of coffee she made for herself, and used the same route she used the day before to get to the cemetery. It was already dark by the time she left the inn, and the street lamps were already lit up to guide the way, although they were not necessary for her. She felt her pockets for her pack of cigs and realised that she had not brought it. She muttered a curse under her breath and shoved both of her hands into the pockets of her jeans.

Passing through the abandoned streets reminded her of her recent activities in a house on that street. She wondered if anyone ever found those dead bodies, because they were in a basement, and if Joan was not observant enough, she would not have found them either. After quite some time of walking, the graveyard came into her line of vision. She fastened her pace and saw Aadrian standing there. He was standing outside the cemetery and Joan reached him just as he was turning in the direction she was coming from. His expression showed how pleased he was to see her. As soon as she joined him in standing outside the cemetery, he began to explain to her the details of this job. It was about a cultist who had been working as like a spy for Bishop Santos while being in the Red Hades cult all the same. Joan could already tell what Aadrian wanted her to do, but she listened on anyways. He actually wanted her to bury him alive, and not deep enough so that his screams could still be heard. He wanted to send a message to Bishop Santos for using a spy against his cult. He had apparently already captured the spy in a shack nearby, to which they were going to next she assumed. Joan removed her hands from her pockets as soon as Aadrian started walking away from the graveyard. She followed him to where the spy was being held captive.

As they arrived at the shack, Joan was greeted by the site of a man being chained up against a wall and two other cultists standing next to him with bloodied torture instruments in their hands. They had already started punishing him for being a spy. Aadrian gestured for her to stand next to him, which was much closer to the spy. She saw that his body was pretty much broken, which made her wonder what they had been doing to him. He looked up to face Joan for just a second or two before his head dropped so that he was facing the floor again. It seemed like he already knew that he was going to die in some way tonight. The vampyress waited for Aadrian to speak again, to tell her what she was supposed to do. Her client seemed to be enjoying this scene a little too much. She coughed a bit to catch his attention, and it did. Aadrian turned towards her and made an expression as though he just remembered what they were here for. He then spoke of his plans, about burying the spy alive. Joan nodded and at this moment, the spy’s head shot up and he began to plead for mercy. Both Joan and her client’s heads snapped in his direction and Joan strode over to slap him straight across the face that completely shut him up. One of the cultists next to him was holding a bag which she grabbed and pulled over the spy’s head. She had an idea.

Now Aadrian told Joan to take him to the cemetery to do the ‘burying him alive’ part. She was supposed to do it alone, so the vampyress wasted no time. After securing the cloth bag over his head, she unchained him from the wall and tied his hands together. She was pretty sure she could drag him to the graveyard, since it was not too far away from the shack they were currently in. With a nod towards her client, the vampyress left the shack, dragging the spy along. He kept pleading for mercy, but all Joan could hear were muffled words that she was not going to bother trying to understand. Aadrian told her that there was a spot in the graveyard where he had placed a shovel for her to dig up a hole with and bury the spy. All she had to do was look for that now. Dragging the cultist was rather easy, given how he was a skinny fellow and did not weigh much. But of course, dragging him was going to take some of her energy, so she did it slowly to save energy for digging up a hole and burying him, and then covering up the hole again. She made sure with Aadrian that there was no ‘second part’ to this request like the one before. Her client assured her that she would be done once she had finished burying the spy cultist alive.

Throughout the entire journey to the graveyard, the traitor kept pleading for mercy, and for Joan to let him go. She did not bother even responding to him. Soon she came to the spot that Aadrian was talking about, where he had a shovel ready for her to dig up a grave with. She let go of the chains she used to tie his hands together with, which resulted in him falling to the ground in a helpless heap. He was beaten up to the point he could barely lift a finger. Which meant that she would not have to worry about him running off while she dug his grave. He actually started crying as soon as he saw her pick up the shovel. She turned towards him with a lethal glare that shut him up immediately. That look translated into, ‘I’m going to do worse things to you if you don’t keep your mouth shut’. He seemed to be out of ideas on how to stay alive. He just laid there as if he was already dead as Joan dug up his grave. She did it fast so that she could be done before people could see her. She could not not expect people to show up because this was a public area and anyone could just show up and find her digging up a hole and burying someone alive. She kept her eyes peeled for any surprises. She could not not think of the worst case scenarios of this mission as well.

Joan did not know whether or not Bishop Santos had already heard that his spy was about to be buried alive, or at least that he was caught. So if he had heard this, then he would surely send people to save his spy, unless he was that heartless not to care and let him die. It was funny how Joan was working for a client who was plotting against his other client. She was literally in the middle of the mess, but she liked it that way. Neither of her clients knew that she was working for the other. While these thoughts floated in her mind as she kept herself alert while digging, she realised the grave was deep enough but not too deep like Aadrian wanted, so that the spy’s screams could still be heard. The reason Joan kept the cloth bag on his head was because that way he could call for help and not die from choking on dirt while doing so. The traitor then pleaded for mercy again, telling Joan he would do anything, but Joan simply tossed his body into the grave and started covering it up with the dirt. After the hole was filled completely, she patted on it with her foot and went back to the shack. Upon arriving back at the shack, she handed the shovel to Aadrian. Her client seemed extremely pleased. He rewarded her with a sum of jewels. The vampyress left the shack afterwards.
