Karstaag
A quiet night, the once bustling streets of Oak left desolate in the dark hours after midnight. They weren't completely empty, but still a far cry from the norm. Eyes hot, red like magma erupt through the penumbra, a mere candlelight still under the gaze of the moon. The occasion? A job that required a bit more discretion than Karstaag was used to. He was simply hired muscle paid for a quick snatch and grab for a local crime family. Some upstart gang that'd probably be wiped out in a few months give or take. Didn't matter to Karstaag, the would-be victims of this crime would never know of his involvement.

The meeting went off without a hitch and the instructions were clear as crystal. All he had to do was follow a map to a safehouse, loot the place and burn it to the ground. Karstaag peers up at the night sky, a strange warmth in the nostalgia, reminiscing of a life left in the wake of his past. A wry smirk creases his gruff expression, crooked with elation as he inhales the night air. The only thing to do now is begin the hunt for the treasure. Just like the good old days~

Karstaag
Karstaag follows the winding streets, roads littered with the scars of erosion and alleys that invited fellow ne'er do wells to lurk for a golden opportunity. A vagrant approaches, hands held parallel, tightly clasped together with a pitiful expression. "Scram if ya know what's best fer ya!" The dwarf bellows a threat that forces the man to scramble, fall and clear the way. There could be no risk in this endeavor. Karstaag did not desire to involve himself with the politics of the Oak City crime syndicates and the less prying eyes he had on him the better.

He was an expert at reading maps, decades as a sailor of a less than legal persuasion, but he was struggling a bit with the labyrinthine avenues and passages that entangled together. He was no stranger to the city, but he was almost always wandering while plastered drunk or hanging off the hips of a pretty lad or lady. Karstaag just needs to find an opening somewhere. The location is split from the other buildings in the area, secluded and isolated to make his skullduggery almost too easy.

Half an hour of pacing and shooing away the filth that resides in the gutters of this wretched place until he finally finds his way. A rundown, dilapidated diner, boarded up and padlocked. Karstaag checks his surroundings and paces forward, slowly - quiet as a dwarf sized mouse could possibly be. He draws his axe, hands curled tight around the grip as he lifts it. A single strike with all his might shatters the flimsy steel lock. He's almost too giddy, a wave of emotions that he'd long since forgtten as the door swings ajar under the breath of cool night air.

Karstaag
This was Karstaag's favorite part. The destruction wrought in the pursuit of the spoils. Nothing matters besides the bag of money he was sent to collect and his search reflects that. He tears a path of pure carnage, greedy hands sweeping everything away that wasn't nailed down, rummaging through every drawer for a clue not caring about the mess that littered the floor. The thrill of ruin overwrites the frustration that his objective was still nowhere to be found.

He moves to the kitchen, the clang of iron pots and silverware falling to the stained ceramic floor. Every cabinet is pilfered, left barren and departed from just as quickly as the storm arrived. It was euphoric for the dwarf; letting loose by this. But, he understood he could not linger here for long, before he drew the attention of the locals. He moved to the offices and they too were empty. A surge of frustration jolts the dwarf, hastening his search, almost in chaotic disarray now. Where the hell was the bloody thing?

He's at his wit's end, one more room to search - a storage closet. He kicks the door down, molten eyes scouring the space for anything that tickles his senses. A deep sigh that morphs into a twisted cackle as he notices a floorboard missing. A quick jut of stout little legs carry him forward to peek inside. Relief offsets the briefest moment of panic. The cash was still in its rightful place, ready to be plundered, floor agape due to some novice apparently.  He heaves and hos, lifting the bag out of the hole in the floor and scampers off into the main dining area. The job had one more requirement... A smile breaches through the dark, reflected only by shattered glass.

Karstaag
The search for treasure was surely his favorite part of the pirate life, but what came next was a close second. He relished the "clean up" as it were. The job had one last box to check before he could collect his pay. His eyes ignite, clutching his axe tight, suffocating the smoldering embers that spew from the magic circle pulsing from his hand. Karstaag glows, red hot; infernal flames color the hue of his scruff and fur and the axe he wields kindles from the energy flowing into it. He strolls towards the exit, a sweeping motion of his wrist to lob the flame into the abandoned diner that spreads spontaneously like wildfire. He keeps moving, a brief window to retreat into the crowd that soon gathers in the splendid incandescence.

He feels a tug at the bag and identifies the signal for the drop off and releases it, skulking away to a shadowy refuge with hurried steps. His role in this gang's petty squabble has come to its conclusion, but he's left with a spark, a flicker of joy. Karstaag had fun, reveled in the chaos he shaped to his will in this solitary night. He made his way to the dead drop where he would secure his payment left with a renewed appreciation for the art of calamity, yearning to be a little worse every now and again.
