Ikazuchi
Something unexpected for Ikazuchi was the fact that he found himself on the frontlines of a battle against monsters after his two year absence. Fiore hadn’t been peaceful in the past, but he couldn’t recall a time that monstrous creatures directly attacked the town in the way these particular creatures did to Orchidia. He happened to be present in the market during the time the giant creatures appeared, and he was the first to respond in order to defeat the creatures.

While his quick response was partially due to his desire to protect the town and its people, he was mostly driven by the desire to defeat such creatures. To him, being able to save people while fighting was an added bonus that he would happily accept. At the same time, he wouldn’t risk his own wellbeing for strangers if that was the only option. Then again, who would expect self sacrifice from someone belonging to a Dark Guild?

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi quickly analyzed one of the nearby creatures in order to determine the best way to kill it. While it was humanoid, the proportions had large variations between each creature that made it difficult to assume their whole anatomy would mimic a human. In particular, the height alone would prevent him from easily approaching the vitals even if it were similar. Unfortunately for the creature, difficulty didn’t mean impossibility when it came to someone like Ikazuchi.

Having come to a decision, he rapidly made his way towards the closest one that was threatening one of the innocent citizens of Orchidia. It stood roughly twelve meters tall and towered over him, yet he hadn’t even drawn his sword during his approach. To the person in danger, he looked insane to rush in unarmed. It was clear that they were losing hope as Ikazuchi continued to not do what they believed he should.

After reaching the creature’s ankle, Ikazuchi proceeded to do something unthinkable for the only individual who had the luxury to observe him. He simply punched at the side of the massive ankle, an act that seemed equally foolish and insane due to the massive difference in their size. Still, Ikazuchi had not a shred of doubt or hesitation that his attack would produce fantastic results. While he may not be the strongest in the world, his strength wasn’t something that would be looked down upon by others.

The fear and resignation of the person he was rescuing quickly turned to shock and awe as the person saw the large ankle deform and smash to the side at an extreme speed. This swept the other leg off the ground and resulted in the twelve meter tall giant’s body smashing the ground where Ikazuchi was standing moments before. Knowing what would happen, he quickly grabbed the citizen and moved from beneath it in that small gap of time.

Ikazuchi ignored the person he rescued from the moment they were safe, not caring for their thanks or acknowledging their plea for protection. His attention was entirely on the giant that seemed lighter and more fragile than he expected for such a large creature. His curiosity grew about the creature that didn’t even respond to the pain of the shattered ankle. It was fully focused on reaching them, as if it felt nothing but a desire to harm people.

He had witnessed the grotesque and miserable deaths of other people that were too far away. Whatever these creatures are, they seemed to be fixated on hunting, killing, and even eating humans. Ikazuchi’s disgust grew as the creature crawled towards them in a single-minded manner. “You’ll be the first…” His disgust transformed into killing intent as he had noticed that these had appeared as a horde in their town. It hadn’t been long since he returned, but he could imagine the number of casualties based solely on the limited area that he could observe.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi intended to hunt any of these giant creatures that he encountered, but he couldn’t easily hunt them unless he obtained more information about their anatomy. He wasn’t a mage who could simply blow away a creature, he had to accurately cut and destroy the vitals of someone or something to kill it. His anger was steadily growing as more citizens and guards suffered, but he focused on his first target.

His focus reached the peak as he quickly approached the creature and climbed onto its back. He was too fast for it to grab, so this had been a rather easy task. As if responding to his close proximity, it attempted to reach him forcefully before gradually starting to turn over. “Oh no you don’t…” His foot stomped down at this moment causing its body to collapse onto the ground flat on its stomach. The cracking of bones, and even the ground beneath could be heard as he continued to stomp down in order to prevent the creature from moving when it attempted to do so.

Ikazuchi drew his sword while continuing to immobilize the creature until he managed to use his sword to directly cut off its limbs. His eyes moved between the various locations where a human’s vital points would be after that in an attempt to locate them on the disproportionate body. He quickly chose to start stabbing and cutting away at the spots he chose in order from least to most fatal in order to compare the anatomical differences between the two. Blood flowed from each of the wounds that he made, but the liveliness of the creature was apparent as it screamed in response to the wounds.

As he continued to attack without pause he started to notice older wounds closing, even the limbs seemed to be slowly regenerating. He drew Spellcutter in response to this, unsure if it may be due to some form of magic influencing it. His swords continued to swing repeatedly, but the signs of regeneration didn’t cease no matter which area of the body he struck.

Ikazuchi
His frustrations continued to grow as there seemed to be no notable vital point on the creature's body, and his swords moved faster in response to this. “I refuse to believe you can live without your head!” After that, Ikazuchi took his swords and quickly decapitated the creature with several swings before once more turning his attention towards the various wounds. He couldn’t be sure whether it was due to the doubt or hope that it would die, but what he saw shocked him.

The wounds were still slowly healing in a way that was only noticeable after several seconds of observation. This was a creature that he simply couldn’t understand, something that he hadn’t ever encountered. It was at this point that Ikazuchi snapped and started to simply cut randomly and check for the results. He intentionally cut out large chunks of flesh throughout the torso, but the regeneration only slowed.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi was gradually realizing that he could fully butcher the creature in order to finish it, but that wouldn’t be efficient enough if he were to fight multiple creatures like he intended. Still, it didn’t seem that his current test subject would last much longer. It was only when he happened to remove a large chunk around the nape of the neck that a significant change occurred. Steam started rising moments after that forcing Ikazuchi to quickly move to the side.

He couldn’t help but watch with curiosity as the flesh, and even the blood that decorated him evaporated away. It wasn’t long before only a skeleton of the creature remained, and all of the human attention in the plaza had been drawn towards him due to the first creature in the market being killed. Ikazuchi couldn’t help but sigh after feeling the gazes of so many people turn to him hopefully. “Everyone gather up, I'm going to escort all of the survivors to the Guild Hall!

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi knew he had to step up as a member of the guild that resided in the town. Sleeping Calamity may not be considered good according to the law, but he knew that it wasn’t the type of guild to shirk responsibility. He also didn’t want to see the city that could basically be called his home become a wasteland because he avoided difficulties. That being said, there wasn’t any doubt in his mind that the battle would become many times more difficult as he protected everyone. Based on the behavior of the creature he just defeated, there wasn’t any doubt in his mind that he would soon face swarms of them from the surroundings.

There still weren’t more than three or four of the creatures in the surroundings, so he needed to quickly defeat those and gather everyone in the surroundings if he wanted to escort the civilians. He was thankful for the guards who had bravely persisted during this time as they had already gathered a small group that they were desperately defending.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi didn’t hesitate to act after making a decision. The first person he saved was swiftly transported to the group before he charged at the nearest creature intending to kill it quickly. Ikazuchi intentionally relied on the strength granted from his relic to further empower his already powerful blows to quickly put the creature that exceeded ten meters in height on the ground.

He knew that he couldn’t take his time after making the announcement, but he needed to confirm what had killed the first creature. If it truly was due to the final attack, he would be able to rapidly defeat the remaining creatures before too many more casualties occurred. He didn’t bother removing the limbs of this one as he rapidly approached the nape of the neck and unleashed a precise attack using both swords. He couldn’t be sure precisely what part he needed to cut, so he opted to remove as much as possible with his two swords.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi paused for a moment to observe the changes in the creature as a large wedge of flesh fell out of the wound. Until the steam billowed from the corpse he wouldn’t be sure about the cause of death for the first one. Each second that went by felt extremely long as he was hopeful that the flesh would soon begin to evaporate. He didn’t realize how tightly his hands were gripping the hilts of his swords until he noticed the signs of steam. He was able to relax both his hands and mind as he confirmed the only apparent vital point the creatures possessed.

Be careful of the steam!” Leaving only those words behind, Ikazuchi charged at the next creature without hesitation. With a clear target in mind, there wasn’t much delay between him killing that one and moving onto the next at full speed. It was the final one that could be seen in the market, but he had already noticed others moving in their direction.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi’s movements and strategies improved with each second as he faced the creatures. He was an experienced fighter who survived in the Worth Woodsea alone entirely due to his own skills. Hunting and killing things much larger than himself was something he became accustomed to long ago, so these creatures were far less threatening after he understood their anatomy and weaknesses.

He quickly realized that the tendons and muscles of the creatures were extremely similar to the average human and capitalized on this to disable them before cutting away the nape of their neck. While killing the fourth creature nearby, he had even taken the extra time to test the size of the area he needed to cut in order to kill the creatures efficiently. With the information that he gained fighting these four, he was confident that he could escort the growing market group to safety before moving alone to reduce the numbers around the city.

Ikazuchi
Ikazuchi continued to stand guard for the group as more people and creatures gathered towards the market. He suspected that they possessed some form of ability that allowed them to track humans due to this, but he steadily took them out while watching for the possibility that several may suddenly appear and overwhelm them. The evacuation efforts were also taking longer than expected, so he couldn’t help but worry more as he patrolled the perimeter.

It was only after a short time that various members of Sleeping Calamity appeared to assist them. He quickly informed them of his intentions after they appeared, resulting in the remaining civilians in the surroundings being gathered rapidly. He had also informed the others of the weakness that he found during this time before demonstrating it on a stray creature that wandered too close. He hoped that each of the members would be more effective with that information as their group would only grow larger as they fought their way towards the Guild Hall.

Let’s get moving people! Everyone from the guild, form a perimeter! Now that we’re together, I’ll kill you myself if you let any of these damned things reach these people!” His words carried authority due to his skill displayed while killing the creatures. Most of the members didn’t know him personally, but they weren’t willing to challenge him after witnessing that. In Sleeping Calamity, it could be said that strength was equivalent to authority and Ikazuchi had proven his to those present.
