Astera, people say that this coastal town is very densely constructed. The buildings look like a carpet of white that is cradled between two shallow mountains. This is the first time ever for Achlys to be here in Astera, and the stunning view amaze her. ”Keep yourself together girl, you’re not here for this view or even for a holiday.” Achlys feels a little bit shocked by this voice in her head, she is still not used to how Lilith can randomly talk to her straight in her head. ”Shut up, why have you become a little bit more talkative lately?” Think Achlys in her head. That’s how they communicate when they are in public. Since they didn’t learn how to give Lilith some physical body yet, Achlys talks to Lilith in her mind to avoid looking weird. Since Lilith can talk to Achlys telepathically and basically inside her body, they find out that Lilith can also know what Achlys is thinking, so they use this method to talk to each other when they’re in public.
Astera view is amazing, so what Achlys feels is pretty common especially for those people who have never been here before. From afar, the town looks very uniform in appearance, but as she finds herself within the town, each nook and cranny has its own kind of surprise to offer, even the calm azure sea is also a breathtaking view. Because this town is full of surprises and interesting experiences, this town is famous among travelers and tourists. ”I know it’s your first time here, but I don’t really like it here so we better go straight to the business and leave this town as soon as we receive the rewards for our quest.” ”You don’t have any choice but to go along with me since you’re in my body, so you better enjoy the trip. Hahahaha.” Seems like Achly doesn’t really care about what Lilith says, and since she is the one in control of the body, Lilith can’t really do anything.
”You’re as annoying as ever.” Said Lilith. Achlys then continues her tour in Astera, her business is around the Astera Docks but she decided that she wants to go to the Aster market for a few reasons. The first reason is because she wants to check on the information she got about her quest here. If something like that happened, the rumor must be spreading out everywhere, especially at the market so it seems like the perfect place to check about it. Well, the second reason is of course so she can explore more of Astera. Astera marketplace is a place that is never empty during the day. There is either an event, maybe a small competition, or merchants setting up their stalls to sell their eclectic goods, so it’s always a busy day at the market. It’s really bustling to the point when people who wish to rent a space in this market often face tremendous competition.
Achlys takes her time to explore the market, stopping at one store to another, and she’s didn’t forgotten to ask for information from the merchants about the fish around here. ”Excuse me sir, I haven’t seen any fish in the market today, I heard Astera has some good quality fresh fish and really wanna try it.” Ask Achlys to the guy at the store trying to open a conversation about fishes in this town. She needs to check on the information about why the fish around this area are not as much as before, she needs to check what kind of rumors that's going on and check if it’s the same rumors told by the one who hired her. “Oh lately, the fishermans haven’t been able to bring as much fish as before. Some of them say that it’s because of a creature living near the cove. Rumors said that creatures scare away the fish so there are not as many fish around. But some others say that the creature is eating all the fish around here so the fisherman can’t get as much.” Said the merchant at the market.
”That’s it, that guy just confirmed the information we have. That’s enough talking and let’s get going, let’s do the killing part of this quest I can’t wait anymore.” Said Lilith full of excitement over the killing part of this quest. Since she is a demon, it’s part of her natural character. Her love for chaos and violence sometimes influence Achlys to do so, but Achlys always feels like that is not always needed. On the other hand, Achlys lowkey enjoys every moment when she gets influenced by Lilith and makes chaos and do violence action, so sometimes she doesn't mind doing some stuff with Lilith’s ways. Ignoring what Lilith says to her, Achlys chooses to answer the merchant. ”If that’s the case, would you mind guiding me to meet the fisherman that you mentioned earlier? I might want to check that information, and maybe I can help with this problem” Ask Achlys to that merchant. But that merchant answered with something unexpected but logical.
“I’m really sorry, but I can’t really take you there right now. It’s hard to even get a space here in the market to sell my stuff, and I can’t afford losing the spot for taking you there, to meet up with the fisherman. I can write down the detailed directions to that place, but to personally guide you there, I can’t.” ”I really appreciate it, that will be very helpful. Thank you so much for your help.” That merchant walks to the back of his store to take a paper and a pen, he then writes something on that paper. While waiting for him, Achlys use this moment to answer to Lilith in her mind ”See? If only you can be patient just a little bit, you can gain even more useful information. Now we don’t have to look for the fisherman's place randomly. Guess you need to learn something from me.” ”Don’t you dare get cocky over that small kind of thing. You better get there right after we get the location details from this guy.”
While Achlys and Lilith have that conversation, the merchant interrupts her and gives the location details to Achlys without knowing that in her head, Achlys was talking to Lilith. ”Thank you for your help.” Said Achlys while she took the paper from the merchant in that store. As she walks away from the store, she continues the conversation she had with Lilith earlier. ”Okay now that we got this location, It’s easier for us to go directly there. Even if this location turns out wrong, at least we can talk and gain some new information from the fisherman.” ”I really don’t care about that part of the deal. I only care about the killing and fighting part, besides that, there’s nothing I want to do during the quests we take.” Achlys starts to walk according to the direction from the merchant, hoping that this information is valid so she can finish it quickly and go back home to her guild hall.
As she arrives at the docks, Achlys gets a little bit surprised by what she sees. Different from her expectation, the docks in Astera bear a rather quaint waterfront compared to the larger port towns in Fiore. Coastal towns like Astera are often bestowed with docks, for ease of access and to support the merchants that prefer the sea route. From the docks, Achlys gets a good view of the sea and the beacon that is built next to a small cliff. Achlys found a modest set of simple wooden boats moored to the wharf and also some prongs, each prong extending into the sea to provide more area for the boats and smaller ships to anchor themselves at the dock. ”Argh really? Again with this freeze by surprise feeling moment you always have when you go to a new place? Come on, let's get going. We have some works to do.”
Reminded by Lilith, Achlys snaps out of her zone, wakes up and gets back to reality. With the current situation of the dock, it should not be hard to find this guy. The dock is not really crowded for now, so he can walk around looking for this guy. ”Ah yea right, I want to go home soon so let’s finish this job as quickly as possible.” Said Achly as she starts walking around the dock. She walks heading towards the direction given by the merchant from earlier. That merchant even gave her the docks prong where this fisherman usually “parks” his boat and as she walks closer to the prong, she can see the boat that fits the explanation from the merchant. After seeing that boat, she speeds up her phase of walking so she can get there a little bit faster, and since the boat fits perfectly with the merchant notes she’s sure that she will be able to find the fisherman there.
She finally arrives at that boat, but there is no one there. The boat looks like it has been abandoned for some time, it looks empty and doesn’t look lively. ”That merchant must have lied to us, this information is not valid. Look at this boat, it seems like it comes from an older era.” Said Lilith because she is pissed that they might have to walk around and gather more information again. ”Shut up, we don’t know yet. I’ll get on that boat and check if someone happened to be there.” Said Achlys as she starts to walk up, getting on that boat, but when she is there, she still can’t see anyone up there. ”See? I’ve told you. How dare he lie to us and give us fake information. Let’s get back there and beat him up.” Ignoring what Lilith says, Achlys chooses to shout trying to get attention. ”HELLO, ANYBODY HERE?! I’M LOOKING FOR SOME FRESH FISH!”
“Just get out of here, we don’t have any fish anymore, they're all eaten by that sea monster thing that I don’t know the name of. So just get out of here.” Someone finally answers Achlys after she tries to scream. Someone walks out the captain deck while answering Achlys’s call, that guy is the fisherman mentioned by the merchant earlier. He said that they don’t have any fish because all the fish are eaten by some kind of a sea monster, and that is exactly why Achlys is here in Astera. She got a quest to get rid of that creature, any necessary action is allowed as long as the fish around this area can get back to the normal number so the economics of this people can also go back to normal. ”Can you please tell me more about that creature you mentioned earlier? I might kill it and get the rewards for myself, I just need more information hopefully a valid one."
“What can you do about it? You might end up dying if you meet this creature.” ”We will see about it, why don’t you just tell me more about that creature? That might be more useful compared to your lecture earlier.” “Whatever you said kid, but that creature is nothing like I've ever seen before. It looks demonic and there’s no other word that can explain it as well as that. It has been a few weeks since the first time some fishermen noticed that the number of fish that they caught was reducing every single day. Until one day, one of the fishermen actually sees the sea monster creature swimming under his boat following them around for some time. He got back to town with that kind of story, and the rumors spread out super quickly from mouth to mouth. After the news started spreading, me and some other people started to see this creature in the sea as well. No one ever is brave enough to go and look for that creature with the intention of killing it, that’s why the number of fish in this town is still going down.” Explained the fisherman.
”Would you mind taking me to the place where you see that creature the last time? The reason why I am here in Astera is because someone requested me to find out the information about that creature and about the current situation about the fish in this town affected by that creature. I have to see it and examine it myself to decide what to do with that creature to bring back the condition that connected to the fish around here. So you take me there, I’ll take care of it and you might get your fish like the old days.” Achlys is offering a deal with the fisherman, a deal where both sides will get advantage from this situation about the fish and the creature. Achlys can get the rewards from her quest, and the people of Astera can enjoy some more fish again, and might push their economic condition to a better state.
“Taking you there is not a problem at all, but I can’t guarantee that you won’t get any casualties if you go and try to attack that creature. I mean there is no information about that creature and that’s why no one is brave enough to attack it. So if I see some threat coming my way, don’t blame me if I leave you there to save my own life.” Said the fisherman tryin to make an excuse for his cowardness wanting to save his own self. ”You don’t have to worry about that at all. I only need you to take me to that place since I have no clue where it is, every other thing that comes after that will be my responsibility so don’t worry about it.” Achlys answers that fisherman and they both finally close the deal and prepare to go to the place where that fisherman saw the creature. ”What will you do about him? He looked down on you and tried to save himself, he deserved a punishment for that.”
”You don’t have to worry about that Lilith, I believe you know I’m thinking right now and I know you like it don’t you?” ”Hehehehehe of course, I love your idea…” As they communicate with each other, the boat prepared by the fisherman is finally ready. “Hey lady, are you done? Me and my boat are ready so we better go before the night comes. Let’s go.” Achlys gets so annoyed by that fisherman who acts like he’s waiting for Achlys while it’s actually her waiting for the fisherman this whole time. But they finally sail the boat and arrive at the location of the creature. It's lucky that today even from a bit far, they can see the creature swimming around the boat. ”We’re finally free Lilith.” Said Achlys, the fisherman seems confused about what Achlys said, and without even getting the chance to show his reaction, that fisherman falls from his boat to the sea. He was pushed by Achlys as part of her plan to get the attention from the creature. This way, that creature will naturally get closer to the boat because of the movement of the fisherman who was trying to keep floating. When the creature gets really close to the boat Achlys casts a spell to attack that creature and kill it in an instant. She then rides the boat and leaves the fisherman in the sea.
