Jin Takayama †
Jin walks down the streets of Baska with more of a scowl on his face than usual. After completing Neal’s job the day prior, Neal requested help for a second job. Curiously, he would not divulge much information outside of that only Jin would be required for it. He did, however, have one additional request. He wanted Jin to give him a secret code upon meeting him. Although Jin wanted nothing more at that current time to bash his face in, he relented. He knew that obtaining money was the more pressing matter. “Just try not to kill him please?” was the last thing Izumi said to him earlier in the day. It was decided that she would scout out more jobs and prepare themselves for their eventual departure from Baska. Things were beginning to dry up and given their last encounter with the Rune Knights, they were being recognized more. Jin didn’t mind it but Izumi was the brains of the operation. The behemoth glances around, making sure he wasn’t followed, before turning down the familiar alleyway. It wasn’t long before he saw Neal once again dressed in white with a smirk on his face. “What a slimy human.” Jin thought to himself as he approached. “Jin, my large and violent friend, what can I do for you?” “I’m here for the job.” Jin replied, not wanting to delay any longer. Neal shot him a confused look before turning around. “What job? I have no idea what you are talking about?” “What the hell do you mean what job?!

Jin growled in anger as he took a step forward. His muscles tightened as rage began to cloud his mind. As before, Neal places his hand within his pocket and tightly clutches onto whatever was within. A weapon perhaps but would likely do no good against an enraged Jin. As the man takes another step forward, he remembers the conversation the three of them had the night previously. Suddenly, he realized Neal’s play, making him even angrier. “For Izumi...” he mutters as he stops his forward advance. “Heist.” He replies as a grin spreads across Neal’s face. “You had me worried for a second there, big guy. I thought you forgot. Congratulations, you passed first test.” Jin clutches his fists as the man laughs, motioning for him to follow. Jin follows a good distance behind the fast-walking Neal, just far enough to still hear him speak. “This will be pretty straightforward. If all goes well, you won’t have to lift a muscle.” His words are met by silence as the two continue to walk forward. Their travel leads them to a small metal building, completely unlike the other buildings in the area. Neal quickly walks up to the door and glances around before opening it. “I’m going in. I need you to stand guard. If you see anything suspicious, let me know.” Before Jin has a chance to respond, the door is promptly closed.

Jin sneers in irritation as he stands just to the right of the door and glances at the scenery in front of him. Scores of people walk by to either shop at the merchants or return home after a successful venture. Every now and then, Jin spots a few people exchanging quick glances at him. He rationalizes it as those people knowing who he is and contemplating on if they should risk their lives to collect? Thankfully for them, they decided against it. He did, however, notice something off. Every now and then, a group of four would pass by him. Two men and two women. The women were of average height, one of them with blonde hair and red for the other. Both of them wore brightly colored skirts. The men were a few inches off from Jin’s height, both of them wearing medium armor. This same group of four would pass by in the other direction minutes later. Had Jin not have been as observant as he was, he likely would have missed that. Something was off. After thirty minutes of waiting, Jin was becoming increasingly irritated. All this sitting around, this waiting, it did not suit him while on a mission. He was a man of action. He begins pacing around but stops for a second once he notices something out of the corner of his eye. Not too far off in the distance, two cloaked individuals stood by and watched his every move. He could see their heads turn ever so slightly if he turned. “Finally, some action.

He mutters as he moves towards the door and heavily knocks on it twice. After a few seconds, Neal peeks his head out from within the door, glancing around before settling his gaze towards Jin. “There is a group of four individuals who continually walk by here, two men and two women. The men are armed while the women don’t appear to have any visible weapons. There are also two cloaked individuals watching my every move a short way away to the right. My assumption is they are all working together. I’ll lead them out to the farmlands and figure out why they are following.” Uproarious laughter escapes from Neal as he fully exits the building with a smile on his face. He hands Jin a bag filled with jewels and begins to speak. “Congratulations. You passed the test. I needed to make sure you would be able to handle things if your friend wasn’t around to help with missions all the time. Depending on how things go, that scenario might become a reality. Things are almost ready. I’ll reach out to you both when its time.” Neal waves Jin off as he enters the building once more, letting the metal door slam shut.
