Jin Takayama †
Dusk had begun to roll in as small lamps dimly illuminate the city center. Dozens of overlapping conversations filled the streets as merchants and buyers lined the streets. Jin and Izumi roamed the streets with her arm wrapped around his. To most, it would just seem like two lovebirds roaming at night. For them, it served a different purpose; helping to ease Jin’s mild case of Agoraphobia. Thankfully though, everyone either ignored their presence or were too wrapped up in their own conversations to notice. The two moved wordlessly throughout the crowds before eventually making their way to an alley.

This the place?” Jin asks as he quickly glances around, Izumi letting go to look at the flyer once more. “Yup. The information said someone would meet us here shortly after dusk.” Jin sneers as Izumi heads down the alley first, him following closely behind just in case someone tried anything. They venture a bit down the alleyway before they see him. A man dressed in white leaning up against the wall. “I hate him already and not just because he’s human.” Jin mutters just loud enough for Izumi to hear. The woman snickers as the two approach. “Are you Neal?” Izumi asks. “Ah, so you must be the ones who accepted my job.” The man take a good long look at the two in front of him, his eyes lingering a little longer than they should on Izumi. Jin takes note of this and steps forward, blocking his view. “Not bad. You guys work perfectly. I got something big planned but I’ll need the best. Let’s see if you guys have what it takes.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small slip of paper. Opening it briefly just to ensure its contents are what he needs, he hands it to the behemoth in front of him. Reluctantly, Jin takes the paper and reads it before tossing it aside in anger. Izumi quickly catches the paper before it falls to the ground as Jin angrily steps closer to the man. “You want us to do your damned grocery shopping?” The man quickly takes a step back as he clutches something in his pocket. His eyes never leaving Jin’s imposing form. “I don’t want you to shop. I want you to steal those items I requested. Like I said, I need to see if you have what it takes.” “Jin, relax. It’s fine. This should be a piece of cake.” Izumi says as she places a hand on his arm to comfort him. “I’ll be watching...” Neal says with a tint of arrogance.

The duo leave the alley as Izumi begins their preparations. “If we have to steal these items, it would be better if I did it. I’m smaller and faster than you. I can get in and out quick. I’ll just need you to provide a distraction long enough for me to do so.” “What kind of distraction?” Jin asks inquisitively. “Just keep them talking.” Jin let out a disgusted groan as the two neared one of the stalls. Jin was a man of action. Rarely did he solve a problem with his words, even rarer that he wanted to solve one with them. However, this was a time where it was required. With a deep sigh, Jin resigns himself to the job.

So what can you tell me about this mask?” Jin asks as he points towards one on the side table. “You have a good eye for craftsmanship my friend.” The merchant replies as he picks up the mask to give Jin a closer look. As Jin begrudgingly converses with the merchant, Izumi quickly spots the first two items on the list. Off in the corner, a black hat and mask. The man definitely has a taste for similar items. With the merchant’s gaze directed towards Jin, Izumi quickly snatches the items and places them in her bag. She moves back closer towards Jin and gives him a soft nudge as she passes, signifying that the job was complete. Jin quickly wraps up the conversation as he watches Izumi make her way to the next stall. He follows just a small distance behind to not raise suspicion.

Their plan goes off without a hitch at the next two stalls as well, Izumi quickly swiping the requested cloak and shoes while Jin dealt with the respective merchants. Unfortunately, as Izumi placed the shoes within her bag, she felt a hand being placed upon her shoulder. “Excuse me ma’am.” The voice came from a Rune Knight that happened to be in the area. He shoots her a knowing smile as she attempts to move back. “I received a report about a young woman stealing things from the stalls here. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that would you?

Shit… she mutters as she take another small back, accidentally bumping into yet another Rune Knight. Jin glances over and spots the scene, immediately breaking away from his conversation and move over towards her. A third Rune Knight attempts to block his path but is quickly, and violently, pushed aside. “Are you ok?” Jin’s voice booms out as he moves to her side. “Aren’t you that Takayama fellow who killed the former champion a few days ago? I guess we’ll just bag you both.” Jin cracks his knuckles as a smile spreads across his face. He’d been wanting to tangle with a Rune Knight ever since he heard about rumors regarding the strength of their Kingsguard, Shichiro Uchida. Strength such as his would probably give Jin the fight he craves. To Jin, beating up a few of the Knights would only bring that goal closer to fruition.

As he eagerly steps forward to begin his brawl, Izumi’s voice stops him. “Not here big guy. I know what you want but a tangle with the Rune Knights are not what we came here for. We have to go. Now.” She puts emphasis on that last part, knowing full well Jin would get the hint. His arms trembled as he glared at the Rune Knight in front of him before finally relenting. He knew she was right but he didn’t have to like it. “Let’s go.” He mutters as Izumi quickly hops on his back. The behemoth takes off with impressive speed, surprising those around him with his quickness. The Rune Knights attempt to pursue but are barely able to keep up with his speed. Jin takes sharp corner after sharp corner, eventually losing his pursuers after a short chase. After confirming that they are no longer being tailed, they attempt to blend in once more on their way back to the alley.

Sorry. I know running away from a fight isn’t your thing but it’s not the time. I’ll make it up to you and make sure we get a really good job the next time.” “It’s fine.” Jin replies as they reach Neal’s location once more. “For a man your size, you are quite fast. Color me impressed. Did you lose any of the items on the way here?” “Not a one.” Izumi says as she hands him the bag. Neal takes the bag and rifles through its contents with a smile on his face. He grabs a small pouch off to the side and hands it towards Izumi. “Perfect. Thank you beautiful. Here is your pay. Are you ready for the next part?” “Next part?” Jin’s voice booms, irritated by the entire ordeal. “Of course. I was under the assumption you guys needed some extra money and I still have make sure this goes off perfectly. Besides, did you really think my ‘big plan’ was just clothes?” A low growl escaped Jin’s lips as he begrudgingly listens in on the new job. “I knew I hated him for a reason.” He mutters.
