Masami

喜多正美

Knights were often used as symbols of peace and order – in fairy tales, they were usually placed to guard the castle, especially the princess. That's how Masami understood what knights were at first, based on the foreign books he had read in Joya when he was younger. To Masami, knights felt like a very peaceful job; samurai and shinobi were always in heavy war and battles of the minds, things Masami didn't want to partake in. It was because the books he had read were mostly fantasy, and they have never said anything about a guild named Rune Knights. Now, Masami had become Captain-Commander before he even knew it; the contract he had signed marked his lower back in a form of a guild tattoo, and that he swore to do his duty as a member of the Rune Knights. However, although he did not expect becoming the knight that was resembled in the small picture books when he was a child, it looked like he had achieved exactly this. While he walked in the streets of Magnolia City, right beside him was a princess—or a young duchess? She was the daughter of a very rich couple, and she wore clothes that expose this great feature. Thinking that her appearance was quite absurd for a young Fiorian lady, Masami couldn't help but sigh.

"Was that a sigh I heard?" she turned to him and grumbled, stopping on her spot, so Masami had to do the same. Other than the Joyan Rune Knight that accompanied the lady, there were various other knights that surrounded them, but they were of non-magic users. One thing Masami didn't deal with were women—specifically, younger women. Anything and anyone that wasn't his mother were already quite hard to deal with, and he'd definitely get his face slapped by the lady's white glove if he says the wrong thing. "Yes," he admitted, calmly. Other than that, he had not much to say, so perhaps it truly was better to tell the truth.

She pouted, and made grumpy noises before turning her head away. "I wasn't the one who hired you, you know," the way she sounded had made Masami uneasy. She resembled exactly how "the mean girl" was depicted in the books, especially with her blonde locks and large, light-green gown... she was also smaller in height, apparently. She had introduced herself as "Miranda" but Masami didn't want to call the name that had the same first letter as him. "If you don't want the job of accompanying me in my shopping, then I wouldn't mind if you leave," she added, and that she had started to walk. With his face suddenly lighting up in curiosity, Masami ran up to her and asked, "Wait, really?" there it goes: the stars in his eyes. Not expecting the answer, Miranda would force herself to scoff with a brow raised to show her confusion, "... no!" then, she ran away, and the other knights had started to chase her down.

Masami raised a brow as well, "I really... don't understand," there, he'd scratch the back of his head, and then followed the sounds of the metallic soles rampaging in the cobblestone path. There was no doubt—the princess had fallen infatuated with her knight.

Masami

喜多正美

She didn't like what he wore, so they had instead strolled for his clothes. The princess was today's boss, so Masami had no choice but to follow her to every single Fiorian clothes store and watch her try almost every gown on; she'd often ask Masami, "How do I look?" and he'd often respond with: "You look great," and, in addition to that is a thumbs up. Receiving his praise, she'd giggle to switch into another outfit, and then throwing the used garments into the basket before the changing room for later purchasing. Masami wasn't one to purchase so many clothes in a day, nor does he even think that Fiorian clothes are as great as traditional Joyan. At the same time, he was forced to wear a suit and a tie just a while ago, and that he appeared like a true butler when he was trying clothes from a certain shop. Actually, that is what he is wearing until now.

Tapping his leather shoes onto the floor, Masami sat rather uncomfortably. These clothes, although fitting, restricted so much movement that Masami wasn't unable to act like himself at all. He was starting to feel grumpy and uneasy, and that his Rune Knight pendant is shown so blatantly as it is pinned right in his left chest. His shoes continued to tap a beat while waiting for Miranda to finish her shopping spree, and what she wore next had given Masami the chills in the spine. Once again, she had asked, "How do I look?" and Masami is now greatly unsure of what to say next.

He gulped, and looked at her with a concerned gaze. "What are you wearing?" the answer to that is "Kita Masami's clothes," because she wore the exact outfit that Masami wore before being forced to change into a black suit and a tie. Miranda danced and turned on her spot while looking at her body through the mirror; the receptionist walked in and answered instead of the lady. "You don't know?" she asked, "Fresh from Joya, we have adapted the famous Kita Masami's fashion and—" She had received Masami's glare, and he resembled the features of the actual Kita Masami. Actually, he was the real Kita Masami, right in front of them, and he was concerned and quite displeased. "Y-You're... you're Masami!" goes the surprised receptionist, and went out of Masami's path when he stood up and walked towards his lady, immediately placing his gentle hands over her shoulders.

"This isn't just an overcoat or merely fashion," he said, pulling the imitation overcoat down from his lady's shoulders, "every piece of my clothing is inspired by my loved ones—family and friends—hence why you don't just see the same style anywhere. Not even when you visit Joya." To his expectations, the imitation overcoat was rather lighter in weight compared to the actual thing, and the charms are obviously not made out of real gold. It was infused with mana, as Masami had felt, rather than a deity's soul. After the overcoat had been completely removed, he handed this to the receptionist's hands, and looked at her with a rather blank yet calm expression. "I'm not mad," he said, "but I'd rather if my... fashion—is not imitated." Everyone looked at Masami in the eyes, and that his golden eyes reflected the sunlight from the outside. It was as if the deity's soul mentioned had reflected within him, rather than his clothes... prajna—wisdom, rather. The receptionist would nod intensely, and his lady stood amazed at the sight of her brave knight fighting for himself; "Y-Yes, sir!" the receptionist would say before running back to the lounge to scream at her fellow workers to remove every "Kita Masami" clothing in the current shop they are at.

He'd place a hand over his forehead and sigh. "I'm sorry," said his lady, "I didn't know... I thought it'd be nice if we wore the exact same—err... similar clothing today," this time, she looked sincere and upset—rather, she felt guilty as she held her fists on top of the dress that looked almost exactly the same as Masami's. He'd smile at her – he feels bad, after all, for a girl that was grumpy and younger than him. "You want us to wear matching clothes?" Then, her face lit up, as if he had read her.

Masami

喜多正美

What Masami learned from going to school was that education had helped him create social connections with fellow human beings, so studying wasn't so useless after all. Except, Masami had never gone to school, so where did he learn all these? Other than work, family and very few friends, Masami realized that he wasn't so extraverted after all, but he had done better than most introverted individuals. Being both composed yet energetic, Masami had managed to get to know some people, as well as know them more than they knew Masami, immediately upon his first week here in Magnolia City. Most of them from the beloved Kardia Cathedral, but churches had often brought more connections than most venues. Thus, when Masami and Miranda walked out of the store of one of Masami's adult acquaintances, they almost looked like twins.

Both had yellow hair, except Masami's was more golden in hue and Miranda appeared brighter and more natural. It was their facial features that made the two of them distinctive from one another; apart from that, the rest of their characteristics, other than femininity versus masculinity, were quite similar in terms of adolescence. It was his lady that enjoyed looking at the mirror, and how she'd compare her appearance to her knight, because they wore true Joyan clothes that had made Masami comfier and more confident with himself. She'd giggle and compliment his choice, "I like this," she said, looking at her reflection through the glass screen as she spins around in place. Masami was grateful that she was willing to try on any clothing in variety, and didn't settle with only generic princess gowns that looked almost the same except in different shades and colors. Perfect black Joyan fabric was more comfortable to wear for him, which is why he was able to breathe in and out this time. The knights in armor also found the beauty through their lady in this type of clothing, and acted as if they did not have an opinion at all. "Wanna wear these too?" Masami grinned at one of them before elbowing the armor to the side, hurting himself a little bit. Now, it was Masami's turn to act as if he didn't have an opinion at all.

Right on time, as cliché the scenario is, people had started to run from a certain pinpoint and they have started their screams while explosions and destruction come from afar. Aware of his own speed and that he knew that his senses were not quick enough to react to the sudden compulsion, Masami had watched his lady get swept off of her feet by what had appeared to be a shinobi. And then, when the abductor had secured his lady within their arms, they had hopped up, and hid themselves from roof to roof. They've got nothing else to do with the rest, and will take only the sons and the daughters of the rich men. Masami could recall his lady calling his name out before she was forced to lose consciousness; having his job stolen from him, Masami realized only now how infuriated he had become, albeit his facial features were not showing this at all. Looks like it was time to unleash the devil, and he had done this after sliding his Momijigari to the front of his face. His form shifts to a completely different being, and a beauty out of this universe. Just like the abductors, Masami had hopped onto the same directions, following the unconscious footsteps of his lady. The non-magic using knights used the ground, and had started to secure the gates. What a good day to shop in Magnolia City.

Masami

喜多正美

Despite both his clothing and form shifting to a different, more matured appearance, Masami's Rune Knight pendant continued to glow as it pinned itself over Masami's left chest, in accordance to the guild tattoo located on his lower back, now revealed the outfit that showed a bit too much skin for Masami. Now, he and Lucifer had become one, and that his feelings were no longer so composed. Lucifer wanted to use his lady's trust against her own, while Masami wanted to gain her empathy as well as to get the job done. The two were like twins that never got along, yet were forced to hold hands—the worse thing is that Masami and Lucifer, rather, were forced to intertwine.

"For the good of all," right?

Masami had met faster entities; faster, in a scarier way. They were more scary than demon lords and devils; it wasn't so hard for the devil himself to catch up. This was the devil's manner—in a few seconds, Masami had found himself grabbing his lady's hand, and she was left unconscious. "Joyan man, give me the lady or I'll cut your body in half," it was an assumption rather than an order, and he was glad that he had assumed right. The shinobi didn't understand him and moved in various swings, but Masami held on—it was either the man was mute or, as Masami assumed, he wasn't Joyan. "Hmm, I don't think it's a good plan to act like you're a great ninja... oh well, I should stop acting like I remember my own language, too," it was either Masami or Lucifer that grabbed the abductor's waists, pulling their clothes as well as their skin, and then ripping all of them at once with his fire. Now that the human flesh had no control and had become weak—dropped his lady from the sky—the devil caught the human girl the same time his bare feet touched the ground. "Ah, I lied: I said I'd cut, not rip," he held her close with both of his arms, Lucifer thought no beauty of the human girl. After all, what's more beautiful than the Lucifer himself? Lord Asmodeus, wherever they were, will not match, either. It was always the prideful that come off as more beautiful than the lustful ones.

What did this princess have that made her so valuable? Right after Masami landed from the sky, hurting his own toes a little, more of the same costume-party abductors had hopped from their hiding spots, going for the great chase. The masked demonic knight who carried his princess in his arms had his face hidden behind the mask that was infused with another demon's soul, so what kind of combo will this bring? He brought a hand to the air and slammed it down to the ground, unleashing a ring of fire from within the mask, which threw the foes off of their feet whilst Masami would rise from the walls of fire and run for their escape. Some would say that the escape of both a man and woman together is called "eloping," but wasn't this capturing one another, altogether? To Lucifer, he had captured his lady, whilst Masami had accomplished his mission for today—not yet, there were still enemies that were trying to take this woman from him.

Few more steps, then he'd get rewarded for being that heroic knight, whom had fallen in love with the princess he had saved. That was the cliché ending, but neither Lucifer nor Masami liked such endings. When everything was almost over, his lady would awaken, and see how beautiful her demon boy was compared to her greedy, spoiled self. However, that was a story for next time; Masami still has to run away. If only Lucifer was the demon lord everyone knew, now, he had been shopping for slaves and human meat. Truly, what a good day to go shopping in Magnolia City.
