Nyx Paris

The sky. It was an endless canvas that colours were tossed upon. Some days it would be a pure, uninterrupted blue that stretched seamlessly across a field of vision. When the sun rises, it'd be a child's painting, bright pinks and oranges piled on top of each other, reflecting off low-hanging clouds and filling the world with a haze of wonder. When it stormed, the harsh glow of lightning illuminated the gathering piles of dull, grey clouds that were angrily pushing against each other. At night, the moon glowed, giving the speckle of stars a guide light. The sky was alive, growing at each passing moment, a constant changing canvas for the world to see. Today, it happened to be a painting, blessing the residents of Crocus with delightful weather.

The oddity had his hair done normally today - it was pushed back with the help of mousse to form a messy undercut. His crimson eyes stared at the elegance of the atmosphere above, admiring it. Through his aquiline nose, chilled oxygen surfed inwards and expanded his chest. One, two, three. After three seconds of pure bliss, the man exhaled with a small sigh. With his gaze towards the sky, Nyx noticed the flying fowls. They seemed so free, berating his human existence, taunting him for not being born as a fellow aviator. The flying animals were silhouettes against an orange scene. They glided swiftly through the calm breeze, showing off the variety of colours painted on their feathers. The birds swept about and performed routines in mid-air, reassured that their wings would hold them fast.

Finally, his field of vision lowered. He was atop of the roof of the inn. People were ushering about, forming a crowd. Shifting his chin down allowed him to stare at the tiny mortals below. Oh, how he hated humans. All the lifeless bodies below only traversed back and forth with no clear future. Only a select few were gifted with the ability to push onward - the rest were just nobodies, content with where they were. "Disgusting." he blandly stated. In comparison, birds were superior to humans, capable of going anywhere and everywhere so long as they wished - and they did. Luckily for Nyx, he wore a costume that gave him powers of an aviator.

Nyx jumped from the building in his chicken costume. Little did he know, chickens couldn't fly.

The act of compliance towards mother nature often proves to be beneficial, allowing one to seethingly refuse to underestimate her power. The endless blanket that served as a canvas before her merry eyes was painted with hues of ever changing yellow and orange, occasionally allowing the tint of pink perfectly blended with crimson to peek through while the sun went into hiding upon the sight of civilians that roamed the streets of this well-known town.

With her long blonde hair that danced in sync with the movement of the gentle breeze, the sound of her leisurely strides was submerged within the raging rush of mortals during this busy time. Strolling in close proximity to the wall, she let her lilac gaze drift over to the sky where flocks of birds flew together as she relied on her instincts to avoid colliding into others or tripping over thin air. The Knight heaved a small sigh as her footsteps halted before the gateway into a familiar place, the inn.

Her pale hand raised as she approached closer to the glass door behind which lay the aroma of the delicious delicacies and the cool air emitted from the air conditioning which would rescue her from the humidity that lingered in the air. If only she knew that fate had written a different story for her. The commotion that no longer differed from the natural environment was perpetrated by loud whispers right behind her. As curiosity made way, she turned her head only to notice the gaze of people staring up into the sky.

Peculiarity tugged at her thoughts, causing her to crane her neck and follow their line of sight, only to be hit with an unpredicted surprise. Right above her head was the silhouette of a giant creature who was being pulled by gravity, straight towards her. It's fair to say that the gasps around were quicker than her ability to process as her eyes widened. Her body reacted on it's own, taking a quick step backwards in an attempt to save herself from the perhaps unintentionally attempted assault. Instinctively, her leg raised, launching a kick straight at the creature that caught her by surprise. If her leg collided against it, it would perhaps land a few feet away from her position. If however, her attempt turned out to be a failure and her kick turned out to be nothing more than a sad attempt that resulted in her tripping over her unbalanced body, not only would she have embarrassed herself but would also be crushed underneath this creature that was....a chicken!?

Nyx Paris

The terminal velocity of his drop skyrocketed within seconds. Though it was exaggerated, Nyx was persuaded that he was dropping at ninety-seven meters per second. Time seemed to slow down at some point, allowing him to accurately dissect the series of events that were to take place. Despite the fact that a person was committing suicide right in front of them, the crowd only stood still in awe. Just as Nyx was about to kersplat against the ground and send his entrails about, a blonde woman took charge. Her long legs stretched farther than the physical anatomy seemed to allow, multiplying in length and striking the chicken-man right on his chin. The attack sent him flying, rolling right through the doors of the inn.

The pain came slow, but spread quickly. More surprisingly, no bones were broken in the aftermath - just a bunch of bruises all about that seemed to grow green within seconds. The point of impact on his chin was bright red, but that colour would soon change to a greenish-purple within seconds. Nyx couldn't move, but he wanted a word with the person who saved him. "Hey, hey." he started. "Blondie. C'mere." The oddity had intentions to usher her towards him with his fingers, but didn't realize his nerves weren't fully functional yet. Instead, spectators could only see two weak fingers flexing for half a second, twitching in their own right. "Why did no one tell me chickens can't soar?" he pondered aloud. That's right. Though his life was at death's door, more important questions hovered around the eccentric.

Those who have known Nyx for a while could understand this behavior. To first-timers, they could only awkwardly stare at the stupidity being presented upon a silver platter. This was your average Nyx - a little bit of weird and a lot of stupid. The crowd went wild, clamoring and speaking amongst themselves. Still, no one helped the chicken warrior. God, how he hated humans.

Perhaps it was such stupidity and unpredictability that was needed for her often monotonous expression to morph into one of bewilderment and surprise. Her brain ceased to function momentarily as widened lilac eyes simply stared at the unfolding scene before her. The pressure spread from her shin which collided against the chicken's face and everything after that became a slow-moving neverending scenario filled with suspense.

As he pushed past the tough doors of the inn only to glide across the polished floor, eyes turned to stare at him, discarding their meals momentarily as whispers and gazes behind her dug into her back. It took her a moment to regain composure and as she spotted the awkward movement of his fingers, she came to realize that it was in fact, simply a man dressed in a chicken costume.

To say that she was surprised was possibly an understatement but unbeknown to her was how she should react in such a situation. The blonde simply glanced around upon being called 'blondie' before making her way towards him. One step, two step, three step, four. Here she crouched down to inspect him closer and to listen to what he had to say. However, to say that it was a clever idea was perhaps wrong. She was silent for a moment and allowed the loud whispers and surprised gasps to fill the atmosphere.

"I can't tell if this is because I hit you too hard, or because I didn't hit you hard enough." Truly the amount of stupidity he displayed to her within these past two to three minutes had surpassed all her expectations from idiots around the world but she still couldn't help but find it amusing once realization set it. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but," She paused, taking a look around and spotting sizzling meat on tables and catching the aroma of delicacies escape through the kitchen doors, "-you're at the wrong place. There's only one use for chickens here."

EXIT

Tranquility hung heavily in the air as whispers died down upon the loud roar that escaped the lips of the tall, fearsome yet respected man who also happened to be the owner of the inn. Customers gawked at their meals, leaving them to sit cold and dry as the heated atmosphere fed their hunger for gossip. It would be no surprise if rumors of this incident blazed through the town, travelling from person to person and alas, the people to be hunted down the scary fellow named Batra would be those two. She didn't know of the abnormal chicken man's involvement with the owner, but he knew of the Knight and perhaps it was best for her to run away.

Given the cracked glass door and the fuming face of Batra, the blonde simply concluded that even this weird chicken man would not be able to survive here. It would come as no shocking fact if the chef of this place truly friend him, turning him into a sizzling piece of meat and left him to dry. Using her hand to cover her face, she could hear Batra's steps approaching them and instinctively, her hand reached out to grab the cloth that covered the man's neck, "We better get out of here soon." With that she made a run for it, having a tight hold on the man as she ran until they were out of the sight of prying eyes. With a deep breath, she looked at him and observed his face for the first time, "Find some other place to do stupid things like this." With that, she simply turned around and left, wondering if she should have asked the man for his name and simply hoping that he wouldn't cause any more havoc.
