Nyssa
It was late. Or it might have been early. Truthfully, the Nyssa wasn't certain what was the turning point in which one ended and the other began. Regardless of how you looked at it though: it was an ungodly hour.

She had attempted sleep... Several times. After hours of tossing and turning, the young woman had given up any hope, and had instead descended to the bar on the main floor. The lights were low, and for the most part the room was, at least to Nyssa's knowledge unoccupied, other than the bartender, and herself, who was draped across her portion of the counter.

She twirled a glass between her palms: a cup of warm milk, which had been nursed until it was no longer warm: the three sips remaining intended only to serve as a reminder that when she was done she should likely drag her body back up to bed... again. She avoided the sips like poison.

Silence had long settled between the two beings. The girl had gotten over feverish fear of speaking to the man when she had ordered, and had engaged him in conversation. However, the small talk that even the weather: a soft drizzle that had lasted since early afternoon-- provided didn't last long enough to put the young woman to sleep, or to keep the bartender distracted to his duties.

Instead they remained content in their silence: the presence of the other enough to satiate one another's misery. Nyssa begrudgingly nodded back one of the sips of milk: finding little to occupy herself with instead. With the placement of the cup on the counter, she let out a sigh, removing her hands from the glass, and instead cradling her face with her palms.

Golden orbs pressed closed against the caress of her hand. Her breath steadied, as remained propped up by her elbows. She counted the seconds between inhales, attempting to entrance herself in some sleep-like state.

She wasn't sure how long she had been sitting like that, uncertain if she had fallen asleep or not-- when her attention was tugged. Golden eyes fluttered open, searching for the presence that she thought (perhaps imagined?) she had sensed.

The day couldn't have been longer, not because there was only 24 hours in a day but because Jeremiah could no longer take it. His body ached and that was only from today's work. After today, he realized that nobody should push themselves to do more than 5 quests in a day, especially when you only take the ones that involve some sort of fighting. With his jacket open and his white T-shirt soaked, he walked into the hotel. The young Fairy wasted no time going straight to the bar for both a drink, and somewhere to settle down - because sleeping was boring. As he entered the room, he realized that there was nobody in here. Well, if you don't count the orange girl sitting at the bar and Batra. Jeremiah usually tried to get Batra to give him alcohol, but since he knew his age he really was against it. Although he only just met Batra, him and Batra had a pretty good relationship. The two didn't have much people to talk to...and they just clicked from that. Walking towards the bar, Jeremiah nodded at the tender before taking his seat beside the girl, almost ignoring her presence.

"Yo? Swing me a cup of warmed milk with marshmallows, Batra. Thank you."

Looking over at the girl he saw as her eyes met with his. Her golden orbs, met his golden orbs. Amazing, he never met anyone with the same colored eyes as him. With a friendly smile he nodded at the female, saying hi but instead without the use of words. She was a gorgeous female. What was she doing down here so late though? Perhaps she was just chilling with Batra? They sure didn't seem like they knew each other. Whatever. It wasn't everyday that you see beautiful girls in this town. The other day he saw a pretty decent purple haired girl, and before that a dark haired girl with a choker, and a brown-skinned girl with an eye-patch. Both beautiful. This woman however, was much prettier than both girls. If he wasn't so tired he would waste no time in flirting with her but it was late and he was soaked. Besides, she didn't even look like she wanted to be bothered. He didn't want to be a nuisance.

Her attention had indeed been drawn to the presence of another being-- more particularly his order of warmed milk with marshmallows. She allowed her attention to be drawn to the direction in which the request had been made. Golden orbs were quickly met with a mirrored shade of a young man's gaze. She maintained the eye contact for a brief moment, as she contemplated this man's actual existence, or the possibility that he was some sleep-deprived hallucination. As she was met with a friendly smile and a nod, she decided that he was real. Or at least... real enough that she should attempt an interaction.

She returned the friendly smile that he had sent in her direction, flashing one back to the young man. Her hand raised some, as a silent indication that she was welcoming of his company, though she remained silent. This man was a stranger, one that hadn't been accustomed to her rather particular pattern of speech yet. She contemplated attempting convoluted strings of makeshift  sign language. She had quickly come to the conclusion that it was too late... and she was too tired to keep up appearances.

"'Nother fer me too..." she called to the bar tender sheepishly, turning her head from the man some, hoping that the turning of her head would mask her dialect some. She held up her nearly empty glass, deciding that a second cup of warm milk may ease her some, particularly with the introduction of this man. After her order was placed, her gaze returned to her new company. She pursed her lips some, looking at him: a silent indication that she wasn't sure what to say. Had silence remained settled between them, Nyssa would finally break it when the barkeep returned with their drinks.

"What keeps ya out so late... er... early?" she would probe, tilting back the glass of chilled milk before raising her new one to her lips.

Just as he ordered milk, the female did too. It appeared that she had been drinking milk before Jeremiah even asked for a cup. Coincidence? Batra seemed to be pretty chill about fixing both of their cups of white liquid. I mean it was only heated milk anyway so there wasn't much to do, though he did look a bit tired. Everyone just seemed so out of it at the moment, and the weather probably didn't help. With a yawn, the young Fairy placed his elbows onto the bar in front of him before placing his chin atop his fists, creating a way for him to rest his head. For a few days now the Phoenix kept quiet. Even when Jeremiah addressed him there was no response, if not a simple one. He wasn't sure what was happening but he really didn't think much into it. Boredom quickly struck him. The mage didn't realize how much he would actually miss the companion that resided within his soul, but he did. A total of thirty seconds passed before the female spoke again, this time speaking to Jeremiah. She asked what kept him out so late...or early depending on how you looked at it. Hm?

In all honesty he didn't expect the pumpkin headed girl to speak. If she didn't speak then there probably would have been no conversation at all, so good thing she did. "Oh uh, I was out doing some jobs for the people around the Capital. I needed to make some money before I leave, Ya'know?" He paused before sighing, expressing how tired he actually was. Looking into her eyes, he spoke calmly and softly. Ali made sure that his golden globes connected with hers as he did so. To be quite frank, he was now intrigued. It still amazed him to see someone with eyes just like his who enjoyed a cup of milk at almost midnight. What else could they have in common?

"What brings you down here at this time?"

The warm cup shifted between the young woman's palms. The air in the room was cool: a result of the autumn drizzle outside. The warmth of the cup was comforting between the woman's hands, and welcomed still as she kept it raised to her lips, daintily sipping as she listened to her companion's words, nodding some as she did, a soft "Mmmhmmm...." pressing past the rim of the cup, as she arranged his words into some conceptual judgement of his character.

Golden orbs remained locked on the man as he spoke, even questioning her about her own reasons for finding her way down to the bar. Eyes narrowed, and brows furrowed some as she contemplated how to respond. She savored the small sip of the warm milk, inhaling the steam as she practiced the words that had already begun to form in her head in fear that they may come out poorly articulated. Eloquence was not her strong point, and she was still attempting to make a good first impression.

"Nothin' nearly as important as helpin' tha people around here..." she began with a smile-- a friendly chuckle forming behind the curvature of her lips.  She lowered the cup, as she spoke, hoping it wouldn't muddle her words any more than they already were. "Really, I had tried ta sleep earlier but after hours of tossin' and turnin' I decided just ta come down here." She spoke with a shrug. It was true, her story was not nearly as eventful, or helpful as the young man's, but it was the truth. "I was figurin' that whatever eventfulness down here would be more entertainin' than countin' tha tiles on my ceilin'" she stated, again, with honesty. Her speech wasn't nearly as poorly developed as she thought that it was, though still a slight tinge of pink crept across her cheeks.

She cleared her throat as she tried to attempt to drive the conversation back to the man. "So... how much longer are you in Crocus for?" she questioned, sweetly, her chin finding her palm, allowing her head to be propped up. She leaned in, ever so slightly, waiting for a response.

Jeremiah chuckled, but not because her comment was funny. Hell, it was pretty lame, but he laughed because she was at least cute with it. The windows on his far left and the female's far right lightly moved as the winds picked up outside. Seemed like there was going to be a storm tonight so it was a good thing that he was indoors. The emptiness of the area indicated that it was well beyond bedtime and to top it off, Batra's yawn was loud and exaggerative. The tender paced back and forth before finally sliding Jeremiah his cup of warm milk. The bald man quickly turned away and began cleaning off shelves, trying to find something to occupy his time while the two humans spoke. Was she even human? She looked normal enough, but these days you would only know by spending a day or two with the person. Her accent was different from his...like completely different. Despite realizing the differences in their speech patterns, the young man couldn't tell where she was from. The countryside perhaps? The gentle woman explained how she was unable to sleep, causing her to come downstairs in hopes of being entertained. He understood exactly how she felt. When Miah was younger he would always sneak downstairs to watch movies when he couldn't count enough sheep to fall asleep.

"I feel ya. At least you made the right decision coming downstairs...You met me!"

The Fairy Tail mage smirked before lifting the glass of milk up to his brown fluffy lips. The warm glass cup sent a heat wave crawling up his cheeks then exploding at his temples, sending a relaxing sensation down his spine and into his toes. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, embracing the mental orgasm he just had. Again, the female spoke. Her voice was almost melodic as she spoke and he was sure that if he was around her enough she would cause him to speak just like her. The orange headed beauty asked how much longer he would be in Crocus for. Although he still was undecided on exactly how many days he would remain, he still gave an estimate. "Hmmmm...not too long- at most a week. I don't wanna get too comfortable here."

Jeremiah yawned as he glanced over at the clock to his right. It was way too late for him to be up, so he decided that it was time for him to go to sleep. Hopefully this female would be here tomorrow. He didn't even get her name. It was probably not be respectful of him to just up and leave, but it seemed that the warm milk with marshmallows kicked in, and now he was so tired that he didn't know if he could hold it any longer. Quickly nodding at Batra, then facing the girl once more, he spoke softly. "I'm really sorry, I just can't stay up any longer, I need some sleep." He was so tired that he just leaned forward and gave the female a hug before dapping Batra and going up to his room.
