Salem stood at the entrance of the forest breathing in the lush verdant air. He loved and adored nature. Luluhawa island was a great place that worked in tandem with nature. It was why he did not mind helping the islanders out. They managed to get this particular Faes favor.

He followed his instinct to find the professor in no time. Wild places were often the playground of the Fae. For Salem any wild place with water nearby was even better for him. He spoke to the professor and got the details of the herbs the man needed. It was not a lot and the amount looked like it could be found within the next couple of hours at the most. Let alone being an all day thing for him. It was funny because the Professor even gave him a herb that was harder to find because like seaweed it grew more in deep water.

He accepted the job and started making his way through the forest. The forest animals left him alone for the most part. A large kitty did try him for a moment but was swung around like a stuffed animal, it was smart enough to change its mind. Salem let it go since it was not a malicious attack, only humans had a tendency of doing things like.

The first plant he found was a stone flower. It was said that when grounded up and ingested. It would make the poops of the eater rock hard. They would be so rock hard they can be put inside a fireplace to give off heat and warmth for some time. It was a very practical type of flower that went extinct on the mainland. People did not cultivate them properly and overused them in the winter months. It was sad to hear about their extinction when he woke back up.

The next plant he found would look more like a cactus. Except it was a dark glowing purple. People called it the accursed cacti because of the eeriness it gave off. The plant was actually not that dangerous. It gave off a sweet smell that could cause hallucinations and a desire to hug it. The quills would then poke into vital organs and kill off the hugger. As long as you were beware of the scent and kept your wits about, it was an easy plant to take care of.

The plant after was another type of flower. This time he just needed a part of the root. The flower itself just tasted okay, it really had no effect on the human body. The nutritional value was about the same as a lettuce leaf. Since it was pretty it was just kept as a houseplant. The biggest reason why he had to collect it was because of the roots. The roots had a lot of medicinal benefits but could not thrive in pots. Over time the potted ones had a huge divergence in their roots.

Salem made his way over to the last plant that he needed. He held on to his staff as he dived into a deep pond. He felt sad he could no longer breath or become one with the water. He did feel at home. The water held a great amount of water and natural energy. Salem would not be surprised if another water spirit came from it in seven hundred years or so. Luluhawa could easily give birth to a fair amount of spirits. He found the plant within a minute but spent a couple of hours in the pond. He was having too much fun to leave.

When he finished he turned in the plants to the doctor. The doctor would use them to heal up the patients he was looking after. Salem could have done it with his magic but did not feel like it. He also learned that it was best not to go around fixing all of humanity's problems unless needed. They were a simple race that did better when they could adapt to things themselves.
