Hikaru Overby
Hikaru was somewhat of a rush this morning as he woke up late. They had just arrived to Era and were staying in the secret Nakamura manor. It was a lot smaller than the one back in Hargeon, but it was enough. More than enough. He took this job alone as per usual. It was small and seemed simple enough for him to get done for the day. This would help pay for food for his siblings. Hikaru secretly wished he didn't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for basic needs all the time. If they joined up with a guild or the Rune Knights, they wouldn't be in this situation. He arrived outside of a house with a young woman, looking to be in a hurry.

Ypon noticing him, she rushed over and introduced herself. "I apologize, but I am in a rather big hurry. I will spare you the details. Find me some clues that you would think the dective will find useful. A man's wife has gone missing and were trying to find her wereabout. Time isn't on our side, find anything that you think would look like a clue. I will reward you when I return. Good luck" she spoke. A firm handshake and she took off leaving him with the house keys. Silently, he unlocked the front door and proceeded inside. It remained untouched, but looked lived in with old newspapers scattered, wilting flowers in a vase, and many more details he spotted. Twirling the keys in his hands, he simply just wandered around to get a feel for the place. After a good half hour, he started to search for clues. The classic "Okay gang lets split up and look for clues" line would be fantastic right about now. As he searched for clues in the living room, where the was the most light, he found a news paper that had the headlines of his mother's death.

November 4th x794

The Fire-Breathing Dragon's Flame Extinguished?

He stared away from the article. It was too painful to even think about it right about now. Refocusing on his goal, he aimed towards the end tables and drawers. Small items could usually mean something like missing keys, notes, or even a hairband. He wasn't the most resourcefull of human behavior like his mother, but knew a few things. Nothing a little mystery novels couldn't teach him. Humans were creatures of habit, had to go off of that. He found something odd in one of the drawers. A note with some scribble on it of a date and the name of a place:

Astera, November 7th.

He placed it into his a clear bag for evidence to give to Margaret later. Continuing his quest, the sounds of rustling papers and trying to find a single item on things. A low growl came from around the corner in the kitchen. Slowly, he crept his face around the corner to see nothing. Inside the kitchen there laid something on the counter. It was a spare house key, written on the note.

"You might need this for your mission. Found this buried in the garden, might wanna look there

-S.R"

Hikaru felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. His blood ran cold. For a few moments, he had to collect his thoughts. Now wasnt the time to be freaking out, he take the spare house key and placed it inside the bag. Following the note's instructions, he found himself at a sad little garden. It was wilted away and left alone, untouched. The whole area was deprived of love and care. In a sick way, he found himself comparing himself the plants. Deprived of family, friends, and his old life. He felt sapped of everything hew knew and all because someone didn't like his mother for being half-lizard or something. That was bogus in his mind! He had just gotten to know her and the Nakamura family too! His grandparents on both sides had to go into hiding despite it being against their will. The reality of the situation is the children were left to fend for themselves. Alone. Abandon. Hungry.

He saw a small, shallow dent inward into the ground. Slowly, he used hsi hands to dig through the dirt. Only a short while later was old photos, marriage certificate, and many other things that signified a happy marriage all buried. If this wasn't a slap in the face for hte husband, he didn't know what was. He collected all the pieces of evidence for the detective. Overall, he was glad this was a quick and easy job. Though, he couldn't shake off the feeling he was being watched like from earlier with the note. The handwriting belonged to someone he really didn't know, but then again, he never paid attention to small details like that. Maybe it was all in his head, but how would one explain the growling. Hikaru waited for the detective to show up and collect what he had found. It taken a while for him to show his stupid head, but eventually he showed up. He seemed in a hurry and could care less for the small talk Hikaru tried to provide. He was wanting to get in and get out. As friendly as he tried to be, it was not reciporcated. Sadly, he taken his collection of money and went home.

Hikaru coming with a decent amount of money. He felt a little empty for the man. His wife left him for now reason. Maybe there wasn't enough love or she found someone else? He didn't know their story, but hoped everything would work out in the end. Marriage was something he viewed as a forever deal, not just a temporary patch. Something he knew his parents would keep. If Hikaru knew his father, he was loyal. Much like his son.
