Kailani Fleurn †
Kailani's head and heart were heavy with the events that had passed not long ago. While she was glad that Yuurei had learnt the truth about his parents and their fate, the resulting endeavour to deal with the monster of a vampire lord had left her traumatised. Night after night since she had dreamt of nothing but watching her beloved best friend die before her, only to wake in a cold sweat. As such sleep was not something that comforted her anymore.

Nimbus had begun to worry about her given the dark circles that lingered around her eyes along with her complete lack of appetite, forcing her to at least take some sleeping pills to get some rest. As the wind mage finally drifted off into a dreamless slumber for the first time in months a sense of relief washed over the feline, glad that she would rest well tonight. Curling up beside her he'd rest his weary head on her shoulder, concerned eyes slowly closing as sleep overwhelmed him as well.

*tap tap*

Furred ears turned and whiskers twitched as Nimbus awoke to a strange sound, his head swivelled towards the window, golden eyes narrowing, glaring in the direction the sound emitted. Forcing himself up, he'd head over to the window, peering out, but nothing was there. Weird. As he turned back to Kailani on the bed, his golden orbs widened in horror as a shadowy humanoid form now lay above his beloved dragon slayer a dagger raised up before slamming down into her chest.

"NOOOOOO!" The exceed cried out, a mix of anguish and anger filling his being. He leapt towards the perpetrator in a furious rage, claws at the ready. However, before his paws could even meet their target, the killer had already swiftly maneuvered away from the bed and behind the feline in a blur. Nimbus' eyes were completely unable to track their movements. His anger was replaced with panic, but only for a second as he felt a pang in the back of his head, and dropped to the ground in a state of unconsciousness.

Kailani had awoken to the pain in her chest, and a cry of her companion. The feeling of a warm liquid trickling from her body and into her lungs and throat as they slowly filled with her own blood as she found herself unable to move or respond due to shock. Then, after ten minutes, she drowned instantly.
