Oh yeah. We're doing this again.

Yet again was Jan Ren approached by the lead actor, this time in different form. From the looks of it, there was more than one, and the fact had completely gone blind on him seeing how he was constantly nagged by the same person repeatedly. The young man was passionate, eager to make the theater great again, and with recent developments so was the case. In a way, this was also the reason why this time, the Sinese had met with someone else. As for the first time ever since he started helping out with this theater business, whoever appeared before him wasn't the same old lad, but... A young girl.

A young, aspiring acress, talented obviously just by looking at her body (language) and mannerisms. She'd heard of the young man's antics, helping frequently with the numerous tasks this business house had to offer, not just of his own volition but mostly in the prepping lead actor's choice. She hadn't explained why she alone was the one to come up to the Sinese, though Jan Ren wasn't one to question a woman when she literally arrived at his doorstep hoping to come in and talk. One could say, of course, this was a terrible habit of his, and one he embraced gladly.

Falling into the trap without a second thought, should it have been one. As it turns out, the usual client was sick and someone had to fill his shoes. He was so ill in-fact, out of the blue, that he couldn't even show up by himself, having to send the 'second in command'. Or rather, the next one in line to take initiative over the theater. If he was to turn her down in her time of need, and by extension the same man he'd offered his services to so many times, he wouldn't forgive himself!

So what was it going to be this time? So far Jan Ren had delved his hand in security, advertisement, directing and even acting when it came to serving in this place. Eager to help the woman out with her pleas, like the simple man he was, the Sinese awaited in anticipation, listing off the different tasks he's done up to now as he looked her in the eyes, awfully excited for someone who's just recently been through a terrible guarding session. And the answer he received was surprisingly, much more mundane than he had initially thought would be.

It wasn't in acting, directing or even security. No, this time the job had dealt with securing rations for the actors. Not anything special or specific, but a simple task very unowrthy of his current status. Something he would be paid measely for, if anything. It was... Food cultivation. Yes, Jan Ren was to go out shopping for ingredients for the theater's mini-kitchen, and supply the different actors and workers behind the scenes with rations, basically food and water, for whenever they took a break. He was to use any means he deemed necessary for the job -- namely not just shopping, but also farm work if he saw it fit.

Truly, the Farming Simulator. With all he's been doing up to now, he couldn't help but feel a little let down seeing how the work leading to this point has been hectic at best, and difficult at worst. However, every now and then came a job that appeared rather easy, one where he didn't need to overexert himself too much. Plus, if he was receiving the same pay for this easy of a request as he did on the previous tough ones, all the more reason not to turn it down!

Entering the farmlands, Jan Ren had some talk with the local farmer. One he knew for a long time now, the very same Farmer Jim that had appeared in many requests before, the same one who seemed to have his back conveniently hurt whenever a new mage arrived in town for a quick job. Per his request and the farmer's approval, the Sinese was allowed to cultivate the cabbages so dearly raised in the farmlands, even allowed to hunt down a chicken or two if he had the guts to. Foregoing actually hunting down livestock, the young man had decided to go for something a little more challenging, and spending a full day gathering ingredients, the Sinese eventually came down with a full deer over his shoulder, making his way to the theater from the farmlands with a handful of bags, filled to the brim with all of such foods. Vegetables, not just cabbages but also carrots and corn as well; aside from the deer he was planning to cook.

He took his sweet time at the theater mini-kitchen, familiarizing himself with the utensils and the stations the small room had to offer. If he was to be acting out as a chef or as a benefactor, he better made sure he knew what he was working with. Despite the late hour, the young man wasn't all that tired. In fact, he felt rather awake and excited. Been a long while since he's last cooked for someone else, let alone several people. Even his own subordinates didn't have the chance to taste his own cooking, something he wasn't a master of, but certainly proud of. Genuine Sinese cooking skills utilized in a Fiorian kitchen, using ingredients not necessarily appearing in the Sinese cuisine. This ought to be quite interesting if he made something tasty!

Trial and error proved rather tough. He didn't know the first thing about preserving food, and as such even though he had thoroughly skinned the deer and removed its horns, besides throwing the excess meat into the freezer, he didn't know much about what he would do with it. As such, the deer meat ended up being the young man's guiena pig of a subject, trying different sorts of dishes with that specific ingredient as his main focus. Fortunately, the kitchen came armed with several utensils, spices and conduments, the likes of which Jan Ren had decided to abuse to his heart's contents. Staying so long out of the kitchen can pile up in a person and explode all at once when given the right muse, and magically enough, this was such a moment.

Come 3 AM and the Sinese had finally settled on the kinds of dishes he was going to make. Seeing how he was the sole soul to feed them at the moment, for whatever reason, he'd decided that it was best if he got some rest. With a dish prepared for the day later for whenever these actors would show up and decide to take their break, the Sinese fell asleep in a nice bed prepared beforehand, seemingly for cases like these in which the theater workers had to stay overnight. The convenience level in this request was off the charts!

He'd wake up after six and a half hours of sleep, groggily dragging himself out of bed and going through a rushed, yet normal morning routine. It was important to keep up the pace and start the day with plenty a motivation, if he was going to feed all of the theater's workers at once that is! With deer meat still lingering in the freezer and an assortment of vegetables at the ready, Jan Ren headed out to gather one more ingredient.

So why was Jan Ren heading out despite already having all his assorted and required ingredients at the ready? Well simply put, he wanted to make it a little more interesting for these guys to have a fun meal, rather than just the plain old dishes he had come up with. Eggs were required, as well as some milk (that while present in the kitchen fridge at first, couldn't possibly hold up to that many people and that many dishes). With over 30 people to feed, he may have had to contemplate taking another hunt.

With some help from connections with the farmers, the Sinese managed to nab whatever he was looking for, making his peaceful way back to the mini-kitchen. It was only half of the second day but he could already feel the task growing dull or tiresome, seeing how he was due to do this for a while. Until the lead actor got better, or until the usual cook came back. His pay would remain the same, though.

Surprise surprise, when Jan Ren returned to the kitchen he had seen the 30-something actors already dining down to his pre-prepared dish, greeting the young man and commending him for his efforts. His unpolished talent was put on full display in-front of these guys. In thanks to recent occurrences and the frequency in which Jan Ren had visited the theater to help, they had already knew him somewhat and welcomed the mage to sit with them. He was more a friend now, than a worker.

It didn't take too long until the usual cook returned to their position. Thanking Jan Ren for taking over, having tended to the lead actor all this time, it seems. How surprising. It took a little longer until that man returned to commission as well, in which by the time he had, Jan Ren had already received his pay in full. An easy job for a change, but a fun one regardless!
