Hosenka

Description: Hosenka is a city in the east, close to the mountains and a bed of hot spring areas, and is well regarded as one of the premier hotspots for holidays and other breaks due to its abundance of spa’s, the regular markets and festivals, as well as the thriving night life. Founded by settlers many of whom came from Joya, the buildings reflect this in their eastern design, mostly commonly seeming to be sculpted from wood rather than brick and mortar like other places. The most remarkable natural feature is the abundance of Sakura Blossom trees, the pink blossoms are enchanted to appear throughout most of the year and not only lend a near-eternal sense of beauty to the city but also a sense of exotic wonder and mystery to it as well.

Surroundings: Founded in a somewhat mountainous area of eastern Fiore, Hosenka and its surrounding area is somewhat sloping and is bordered in north and west by a long range of volcanic mountains that provide the area with a temperate warmth that comes very handy in winter. This mildness of the climate helps the vegetation of the area, while the land is too hardy for vast swaths of agriculture there are several forests and nature trails that further conceal the city from others, allowing it to act as a ‘hidden gem’ in the east, and also loan a sense of both exclusivity and scenic beauty to the land.

Politics: One of the more liberal locales in Fiore, the thriving industry for tourism and lax approach of leaders happy to indulge those seeking luxury make the atmosphere largely relaxed, and even hedonistic to some. One of the few places in Fiore that lacks a prominent Illuminian influence due to the fact that it was founded by foreign settlers, people are far less pious and tend to pay lip service to religion, whilst seeking their own enjoyment and prosperity. This is in some ways is a good thing, however, it has also allowed certain criminal elements to put down roots in the city, exploiting the corruptibility of the people in charge to turn a blind eye toward their businesses, which are overlooked so long as they do not threaten to stifle the economy or the overall peace of the city.

Economy: Much of the money that comes into Hosenka coming from tourism, by and large, the most profitable enterprises in the city are the bathhouses and resorts that have sprung up here, but other forms of business have tended to thrive here as well. The vendors of the Starlight Parade are certainly capable of making a living peddling wares and offering fun and games during festival season, beyond this it seems entertainment is another key form of revenue. Cabaret and Karaoke Clubs a common sight among the bars, the Crimson Quarter can offer even more illicit forms of enjoyment if you’re willing to pay the price, though much of the money spent here seems to go into the pockets of the criminal kingpins of the region, as well as the people of repute that they keep on their payroll for protection. Perhaps this hinders the city from truly becoming the lush paradise it seems to see it as, the permissive and indulgent attitudes of the city's leaders allow them to overlook the more hard done by elements of society, and as such there are some parts of the city where poverty remains. These however tend to be well off the beaten track, away from anything that your average tourist group would ever find themselves…

Culture: For the most part the culture relaxed and very warm and welcoming, as one might expect of a city dedicated to tourism the people of Hosenka are happy to see new faces, and for the most part eager to please. Flooded with hosts, it isn't an uncommon sight to see a pretty girl and the occasional handsome lad standing outside hotels, bars, and other establishments to compel folk to enjoy the pleasures within. Views toward magic here neutral airing on good, the easy-going people won’t mind people who show off their skills for entertainment and even some resorts and clubs will employ house mages, however, their permissive attitude will recede if one causes trouble with spells or no, and one should always remember that crossing the wrong person in the wrong part of the city might land you in a lot of trouble with powerful criminal figures and given how often people come and go from the locale no one will bat an eyelid all that much if someone vanishes all of a sudden either.

Locations

Sultry Heights: The home of the city’s resorts and hot springs, Sultry Heights is full of hotels that range from upscale locales with pools and other luxuries, to more down to earth and modest inns for more humble visitors. Named for the hot baths of the area, there always seems a little mist in the area because of the steam that drifts off them, particularly in the cooler months, and makes the location appear mysterious and exotic.

Sakura Alley:  A small but beautiful park was created through the means of magic to transplant a piece of Joya into Fiore and the result is quite astounding, rows of cherry blossoms form a grove of pink color which bud the year-round thanks to the charms they bare and the incantations carved into their trunks to provide an idyllic and exotic scene that is perfect for both relaxation and romance.

Hinoke Theater:  Ember Dragon Theater is advertised as the best small stage, local theater in Hosenka. The theater is relatively big, and the stage is surrounded by red curtains. Illumination is provided by several lanterns located on the roof of the structure. The stage is separated from the viewing area by a bench accessed with stairs located at the ends. The public section is located in front of the stage, either at a level lower than this, or in the gallery, which has several tiers available for people.

Starlight Parade: A place that comes alive in the dark, this is a large grassy square in Hosenka that acts as the centre of the city, it is here that one might meet with vendors and enjoy the near-nightly festivals that happen over the summer months. Popular during the day but resplendent when the sun sets, it seems as if the Starlight Parade never sleeps, and if one is willing to visit at the right time could find all sorts of wares and entertainments available to them.

Cabaret Crescent: A place for the discerning but decent adult to enjoy themselves, Cabaret Crescent is home to many bars and dotted among them are many places of entertainment such as cabaret clubs, dancing, karaoke and even the odd burlesque show. A place where most tourists will be welcome, most can have a good time here, but be careful not to stray too close to the more sinful part of the city.

Crimson Quarter: Close to the Cabaret Crescent, this part of city takes a dark and dingy turn compared to the rest, and is the home of the less reputable forms of business that the site enjoys. Held firm by the hands of crime lords, once can seek pleasures and entertainments that the rest of the city and Fiore might shy away from such as gambling halls, brothels and even fight clubs, but one should watch their step when dealing with the ruthless folk who run these places.
