My Cabbages! [Quest] Empty Mon Apr 13, 2020 12:28 pm

Jan Ren
Never in his life has Jan thought that the opening act he would be welcomed with, once arriving at a new town, would be packaging. What's more, cabbage crating. How and why was it that this town loved their cabbages so much?

At any rate, Jan was put to work, starting at 9 AM sharp. After his rushed wake up routine and a failed attempt at making a flamboyant first impression on the farmer, the Blue Pegasus mage was recruited for some grunt work. Now he didn't mind doing some work with his hands, especially when he wasn't one to dab a hand in it often. It was more a fresh breather than anything. But... A hundred cabbages...?

"Isn't this a little too much?" He complained, to nobody in particular. If he was to voice it out in-front of the client, he'd probably have his head chewed off at best, and fired and shamed at worst case. That was the impression he got, anyway. As such, he was lucky to be getting some work time alone.

Having removed his Qipao, seeing how this was a rather warm day and a large workload was in the waiting, the Sinese began to stack some cabbages off a pile he was placed by, trying his best to fit them in a single crate to save up as much space as possible. It was mid-morning, but with over a hundred of these ready, it was certainly going to take a while. Maybe boasting a high-quality top directly ported from his homeland, really wasn't the smartest idea if he'd be a veteran worker. But, it was mkre a principle to proudly adorn Sin's garments on his self, taking pride in his country.

Seriously, this was taking a pretty long while. It wasn't tiring, as much as it was just, long and tedious.

Cabbage after cabbage, grabbed meticulously and carefully as to not damage them. Placed gently, with little strain, into the square crate; around 6 to 7 at a time fitting into each. Closing with a large piece of wood, then hoisting on the cart -- and repeat. While he started dissatisfied with the work, as it went on Jan stopped noticing anything related that would bother him. Perhaps he got used to it as it went on, as god forbid he woukdn't say he actually enjoyed it. It wasn't in his style.

Before he mnew it, the pile dwindled down to the last three cabbages, as the Sinese had a free crate to hoist. That was when the client came to check on him, timing being almost magically perfect. "Hmm!! Yes, yes, very good!!" He praised, opening some of the top crates to check on his precious cabbages. "--Hmm? Ahh, yes, I did my best!..." While the Water Mage wasn't one for lying, this was an easy, cheap way to save face. Mostly for himself, rather for his guild.

Jan had obviously underestimated how much the dear farmer appreciated his work. He allowed the young man off work, even handing him a quick use of his house's shower; and gifted those last three cabbages to boot! Easy win.

But seriously. Why cabbages?
