Sage †
It had been quite a long time since Sage trained with someone. The last time he trained with someone was with his father, which was a few years ago. His father had trained him to defend himself so that he would be able to do that and to defend the ones he love. His new found friend, Amen’ra, who he got a long pretty well had planned to train together that morning. It was sunday and they were both free from their jobs. Sage prepared himself in his room, he was wearing a black tracksuit pants and a yellow sweater on top. He didn’t plan to get dirty as it was just sword training. He’d pick his sword and its saddle up and hung it over his back. Some people like to place their sword saddle on their waist but he found it rather uncomfortable and hence the reason why he saddled it to this back as it is comfortable, plus it is super convenient to pull it out and to put it back.

After looking at the mirror, he combed his hair with his hand, he didn’t know why but he would rather look good that day. After that he walked out of his room and locked it, then he headed towards an opening near the outskirts of Orichidia, a perfect place to train without anybody to disturb them. While he was on his way, he stopped by a food stall and bought a few buns, which he munched down while he head towards the opening. He finished eating the buns as soon as he got to the clearing, he wondered whether Amen’ra, or Aymie, had arrived or not.

Amenra

Amen'ra, per usual, was early to the little outing he and Sage had planned on this fine day. He managed to to end up waking up early and simply putting on a pair of black sweat pants, a cyan colored sweater, cyan sneakers and an accompanying black hat to complete the look. Of course it was cold out and he would bring his coat but it had finally slowed down on the blistering cold, so it made things much more tolerable.

The holy knight often kept his sword holster on his waist and today was no exception, even though he was nothing more than a klutz with his blade he was more than anxious to change that. to finally gain mastery over his weapon of choice would be highly gracious and so with that in mind he would make sure to pack a quick breakfast and head out, eating on the way to the place of meeting. Good thing it wasn't far from his home.

A small trek to the small field that was drizzled with light snow, Amen'ra smirked and continued to partake in his breakfast sandwich. He would of preferred a larger meal but the man wasn't at all ungrateful for what he had and wolfed down the sandwich all the same. Standing for a few moments he would be clearing his mind before suddenly hearing the snow crunch under footsteps.

A warm smile and a quick wave. "Hey Sagey, so glad you could make it!" Was all that he would say, keeping his expression friendly while unsheathing his weapon. The weight heavy in his hands and needing a small moment to adjust to, he was eager to begin the training and his tone spoke that all on it's own. "I can't remember the last time I actually trained with a sword, but i'm eager to improve!"

Sage †
As he walked towards the clear opening, he looked down at the snowy trek, the snow was white and pure, it was beautiful in its own way. Sage then could hear a familiar voice from a distance. The image of the person came into his mind and he looked up, he then could see Amen’ra calling out at him. A warm smile broke on his face, “Thanks Aymie!” he replied, they had started with these nicknames when they first met. Sage was okay with it, after all he was the one who started it first, and it seemed like there was no going back, not that he wanted to after all.

He rushed towards Amen’ra and stopped a distance from him. It seemed like he had sheathed his sword, he was quite excited about it. Sage smiled and pulled his sword from his back smoothly as he was already used to it. He chuckled a bit at Amen’ra’s statement, “Well it’s okay, if that’s the case then I guess I’ll go easy on you!” he said with an amused tone. Having trained by himself over the few years, he had gained the strength and speed that normally people would not expect from him. Sage regarded that as one of his trait, when people underestimated his strength, they won’t go all out on him and Sage could surprise them and take the advantage.

But this was just a training so Sage guess he didn’t have to go into his full fighting mode like how he always did. Having no training partner in the past, he used his swords on monsters and enemies and that means he would go all out to win against them. So this would be a new experience for him, he was excited for it too.

“Let’s start with a quick spar, there we can spot our weaknesses and later we can improve them,”
he said while holding his sword with his right hand, his dominant hand. It was something his father would usually say before they have a sword training. His father always pressed on improving one’s weaknesses, and it was embedded in Sage’s mind ever since. His left had would be somewhere hanging in the air to balance his body, his legs were positioned to also make him balanced when their sword would meet against one another. He looked at Amen’ra with his magenta eyes, a slight smirk on his cheek as he waited for Amen’ra to strike first.

Amenra

Amen'ra almost cut his teeth at the thought of someone going easy on him but he knew that he wasn't as strong as he could be, even despite all the training he'd done. It didn't deter him for one bit and if anything it motivated him further to do what he had to do to get even stronger, which is why Sage was perfect. Not only because he was undeniably becoming much more powerful but also because his heart was kind and it shown in everything he did.

"Sounds good to me."

Nodding at Sage's idea which matched his own, Amen'ra would lose the playful smile on his features and focus now on improving himself and his abilities as well as keeping an eye out for his own mistakes. Adjusting his stance to become more solid than before, he would hold his sword in his right hand, left arm in a position remnant of the one wielding his sword. It helped him to keep his balance in times like this.

Without any form of hesitation, Amen'ra would reel his blade back and swing it forward in a side swiping motion near Sage's head; almost as if he were going to decapitate him. Of course he didn't go full strength against the man and only attempted to perfect his swing, but that wasn't the end of his assault. Shortly after he was swinging the blade downward as if to bisect his newest friend. His aim going directly down the center of the blonde holy knights body, however the angle wasn't perfect and neither was the swing; which of course he noticed and cursed himself for.

Sage †
Sage had noticed that Amen’ra swung his sword to the side, he had noticed that the swing was not perfect as he blocked it with his sword by moving it closer to his left side, the swords would meet and the metallic sound of it brushing past each other would be heard. Then he had noticed that Amen’ra would go from the top, which he then reacted by moving his sword in front of him, with it being slightly diagonal to his left. The swords would meet each other and the metallic sound of it meeting each other would then be heard again.

“Okay, I think we can stop there,” Sage said. He had noticed that the swing wasn’t perfect so he wanted to teach Amen’ra on how to do it. He didn’t have any teaching experiences so this would be the first one. He sheathed his sword back onto the saddle on his back then walked towards Amen’ra’s right side. “So first, when you swing your sword you’d want to make sure that your elbow is in the right position as your main striking power comes from there.” he had explained while grabbing Amen’ra’s arm without his permission and positioned it that resembles a very wide ‘V’. “This is your resting position, and when you strike, and in this case we will focus on striking to the front,” he had continued, grabbing Amen’ra’s elbow and forearm, again without his permission whatsoever, and straighten them, resulting the sword to automatically strike forward.

He then took a step back, “So that’s how you strike properly, and it feels weird the first few times so you should practice it a few times,” he explained like a teacher. His face was serious on the matter, he would wait for Amen’ra to start swinging like how he did and observe him if there were any mistakes.

This swinging part was one of the most basic concept of sword fights, he still remembered to this day that his father used to train him this basic concept till his arms would hurt. But he didn’t complain when he was a child, as he understood that it was for his better good. He had realized long ago that having a father who thought him the way of the swords was a blessing and he should be grateful for it. Not many has the chance like him, so he should use the knowledge granted on him to the fullest. Passing it down and teaching others are one of the best ways to show his gratitude. But more importantly he had a way of protecting himself, and the ones he loves especially. Should he be stripped off his magic powers, he should still be able to fight. Despite having a baby face look, he was a warrior inside, fighting his hardest to defend what he values. Joining the Holy Knights was a good choice to exercise the skill and knowledge he had granted from his father, he didn’t regret joining the faction one bit at all.

Amenra

The weapons bounced off one another, metal gliding loudly against metal twice before the other man was stopping Amen'ra in the middle of a swing. Raising a brow, Amen'ra would watch as his arm was moved into a new position and told him about elbow positioning. Something that while the young man knew, he hadn't actually practiced and it just brought out his own competitive nature even worse when he started moving Amen'ra even more without permission.

In that moment, Amen'ra would simply stare and then his tone would drop to playful sarcasm against the blonde offender. "Ummm I do know how to hold a sword, i'm just rusty... 'sensei'." He teased, with a smirk, before shaking his head and positioning himself again, this time remembering to hold his arm even more angled than before aiming it at his target again now with a smirk on his face. While true he did sometimes need readjusting he still wasn't a fan, given how many years he'd actually trained... maybe it was his dads own arrogant spirit possessing him at times. Illumin, that was a frightening thought.

This time now, Amen'ra would breath in deep, concentrating before he was lashing out with he blade again this time performing the same strikes but with much better form. While he was still far from a master at least he could retain basic concepts with some light reminder every once in a while, and it shown in his progress so far. Of course he wasn't going to stop there, he would keep growing until his body could grow anymore.

Black hair blowing in the wind, Amen'ra was so focused now you could likely cut the tension with the edge of a piece of paper. Now to do the real deal, so aiming now at Sage he would nod showing he was ready and this time go for a side slash with much better form and then follow up with downward slash and then a forward thrust just to test out the mans defense and reflexes.

Sage †
Sage couldn’t handle teasing that well as always. He would roll his eyes at the tease and his cheeks would turn red a little. A slight sigh would escape his mouth but he couldn’t stop grinning at the side of his mouth. He watched as Amen’ra stroked the air in front of him with better swings. At the corner of Sage’s mouth, he smiled a little. What Amen’ra said was true that he was just rusty and all he needed was some good swordplay.

Amen’ra then nodded at him making a sign that he was ready for another round of sparring. Sage grinned and unsheathed the sword from his back, he then held his sword with both of his hands, although he often use only one of his hand, he had learned that he could pull off much more techniques when he holds the sword with both of his hands. But he was still thinking whether to take it easy and play defensive and not to counterattack just yet.

Sage didn’t expect Amen’ra to become so offensive, but it was all coming back to him, the years he trained with his father. It was as if his body had a mind of its own. As Amen’ra stroked from the sides, Sage brought his sword in front of him tilted a little bit to the front to intercept the strike, then his hand naturally turned and pushed the sword to the side, but with not enough force to knock it off Amen’ra’s hand of course. He intercepted the strike from below using the same technique but this time he twisted his sword to push the sword away. He then stopped Amen’ra’s sword thrust by stepping a little bit to the side while his sword was positioned diagonally in front of his body, the tip part of it brushed through Amen’ra’s sword and without intending to he brought his sword towards Amen’ra’s neck as he was left completely defenseless.

Sage was breathing for air, all that movement made him breathe faster and deeper, he looked at Amen’ra with a smile, his was on the taller knight’s neck. He then dropped his sword to his side, lowering it. “I must say your offensives are quite good, I think we should move on to your defenses.” he said with a smirk, “Which means it’s my turn to attack,” he continued with quite a devilish grin.

Sage started with the simple one, he grabbed his sword with both of his hands, he rose his forearm a little bit and then straighten his arm, striking the sword towards Amen’ra’s left shoulder, but he of course didn’t do it swiftly or hardly as it was just to test his defenses and reflexes. But he didn’t go that gentle of course, should Amen’ra not be able to defend the strike he would them stop before the sword touches his body. But he doubt Amen’ra wouldn’t be able to defend such an easy attack. He remembered not being able to though the first time his father tried it on him.

Amenra

Watching Sage first deflect his two attacks and then side step was to be expected and Amen'ra simply smirked as each attack was defended against until his opponents blade was come to his neck. A simply duck of the blade to place himself on the opposite side of the attack and he was smugly looking to his partner. Did he think the dark haired mage was so rusty that he wouldn't realize when he was left open, that was preposterous!

"Close, but no cigar."

Amen'ra jested now holding his blade in front of him and catching his breath as well. He was at least happy that he was constantly working out and things of the like in hopes of bolstering his physicality for when magic just wouldn't cut it. That was also why he managed to pick up a blade, aside from being taught as a kid, he wasn't about to just be some useless little tool when shit hit the fan. Especially not while he was able bodied and a member of the esteemed holy knights.

"I told you I was just rusty."

A small laugh before he was stretching a bit, his muscles loosened up from the movement now and he would crack his neck while preparing to defend against any assault that came his way. Sage was likely not going to go all out on him but instead he would aim for Amen'ra shoulder with a basic attack, one that merely took a quick side step to dodge. This left him now with his sword aimed at Sage and rolling his eyes playfully.

"Don't be shy, I can take it."

A quick wink and his arms were back up into a defensive posture, strong yet loose enough to allow free movement if the assault threatened to overwhelm him. His eyes would focus and he would simply watch his target, nothing else mattered at all and that was clear.

Sage †
As Amen’ra was handling the basics pretty well, Sage grinned at the corner of his mouth. He was the one who underestimated Amen’ra and he probably shouldn’t anymore. Since they had their warm up earlier Sage decided to go all out on him. He grabbed his sword with both of his hands, gripping it tightly. He placed his legs in a stance that would balance his body out. When Amen’ra was prepared, which is when he seemed focused, Sage stroked in. He begins it with a flash, hacking the sword sideways, but he didn’t lift the sword into the air, just moving his forearms and elbows were enough. He then moved the sword in a way that one might say that he was carving an infinity symbol in the air. He slashed his sword from the other side once more.

Then he retreated his elbow and then straighten his arm again, now slashing from the side, but as he moved his sword towards Amen’ra he retreated his elbow a little, so that he would have the chance to strike again right after that. Which was what he did, he retreated his elbow more when he reached the center, making his elbow reach the side of his body, then he thrust the sword forward. Which after that he retreated his elbow again and raised his forearms diagonally, sending it down afterwards, making the sword slash diagonally from the top. He then retreated his elbow once more and slashed his sword from the side. Then raised his forearm diagonally now on the other side, and slashed it diagonally from the top again, just from a different side.

It all happened one after another, Sage didn’t stop, not even once. He remembered having this kind of swordplay with his father. At first it was quite tiring and unfair. But after some time he started enjoying it. And so he did while he sparred with Amen’ra, he smiled throughout the sword play, chuckling a few times occasionally. He was having fun as the adrenaline rushed over him. This was the feeling that made him love to fight or have a duel. Sweat were trickling down his forehead then as he kind of exercised. A sword wasn’t light to begin with anyway. Plus the movement that he did, he restrained his body from relaxing at all. Which after he stopped his breathing grew faster and deeper.

It was lucky for him that it was cold outside. If the weather was hot then he would wanted to stop and have a drink but due to the cold he didn’t mind the rise of temperature in his body. He also had fun because he pushed himself, he hadn’t had a sword play in years and having one was refreshing for him and it made his body felt like home. He was lucky to find someone like Amen’ra. He would probably die of boredom and loneliness one day if they hadn’t met. He was very grateful for their encounter.

Amenra

The onslaught of graceful strikes was definitely worthy of a spectacle between the two swordsmen, even if they weren't at their peak. It didn't matter to the black haired fellow and frankly he didn't care if it mattered to anyone else, the mindset of a true master swordsman wasn't going to be focused on what people thought of them. If they were wise they would focus on the blade coming for their throat, and it was something he picked up early being raised by a sword fighter for a father. A powerful mage and warrior that Amen'ra would one day surpass,

First angling the blade to guard his side, he would then proceed to dodge the two extra movements that replicated a sideways eight and finally angle his blade to deflect the side attack. Each of the following guards were equally as focused and graceful, despite the fact that Amen'ra was smirking the whole time; playfully following Sage's lead. It was like a dance that they were doing with each stroke of their shimmering tools, building both a bond and better control of their blades.

Amen'ra was no slouch, remembering training when he was young in such a manner and enjoying every minute of it, so this was a good warm up. A great way for the two of them to regain their skill with a blade once more as holy knight work at his level wasn't exactly requiring too much swordplay. Aside from the demonic invasion...

Focusing his breathing and pacing now, the prism mage made sure to take extra care of his spacing and footing. Defense was essential in staying alive in the order and luckily his fighting style was based on counterattacks and dodging otherwise he might not be doing so well. Of course he still found himself panting from exerting himself a bit and deflected the last attack, leaping away before holding his blade out as if pointing to Sage.

"That was an impressive series of blows, and I think the rust is starting to shake off."

He'd express with a smirk, his breathing deep to match that of his friend while their breath danced like smoke through the air. A small chuckle escaped before he was holding his sword out and recomposing his breathing, slowing down his heart and adrenaline in that moment before going for a low sword strike at Sage's leg. After of which the blade was tilting in his hand and going for an upward slash at the mans opposite shoulder before Amen'ra was bringing the sword back to a protective position for an counterattack.

Sage †
Sage was glad that they were both having a good time. It wasn’t always that he could enjoy something like this. The last time he used a sword properly he had to kill a bunch of creatures. Which wasn’t something to his liking. Sage had always been empathetic, he could feel what others feel and it wasn’t like there’s a on and off switch. Every time he sees someone in pain it was as if he was the one going through the pain. Which was quite ironic on why he picked a sword to use as a weapon as it results into many gore situations. But he was thought by his father since his early childhood and it wasn’t like he’s going to decapitate a human. He was at that time focusing on killing demons which was less gore than usual as a few of them dissipate after being slashed by Sage’s sword.

Amen’ra had blocked each of his attacks gracefully, something that was hidden inside him all alone, like a lion needed to be awaken to unleash its full potential. Sage smirked as he heard Amen’ra complimented his strikes and said that the rust from his sword skills were starting to disappear, “Well thanks, you’re not bad as well,” Sage replied, complimenting the taller knight back.

They then took a few moments to catch their breath. Sage didn’t expect what to happen next, as Amen’ra strike his sword towards Sage’s leg, his hand automatically move his sword to the bottom part of his body diagonally, intercepting Amen’ra’s sword. A slight grin appeared at the corner of Sage’s mouth. Then with a simply flick of the wrist, he blocked the upward slash, intercepting the sword from reaching Sage’s body. Then Amen’ra retreated his sword to a defensive position and with the hype still in the air Sage decided to go all out again.

He grabbed the sword with both of his hands, and straighten his arm downward, slashing his sword diagonally to the front of Amen’ra. He then retreated his sword and straight after that slashed his sword diagonally upwards then retreated his sword yet again and immediately thrust his sword forward. He wasn’t putting enough strength onto the sword to actually hurt Amen’ra of course, while the adrenaline courses through his blood he still made a mind note that he should be careful with the sharp thing in his hand. But he of course didn’t doubt Amen’ra could defend such attacks.

Amenra

Amen'ra could feel his adrenaline spiking with each swing of their blades this entire time and he must of been on some sort of high. Observing the man before him he could tell he wasn't a natural born killer, and neither did he consider himself one, but if push came to shove he figured he would be more likely to take a lethal route than Sage. There was just something about those innocent eyes and his entire demeanor, it would be a shame for his ally to ever be slain in battle; but he had faith in the man. Plus his sword skills would likely keep him well kicking past his prime.

Blushing at the compliment, the older man would watch as Sage deflected his first attack and then his second with apparent ease. This just kept getting better and better, but he would have to pay attention to the sudden swinging of sages own blade in retaliation; angling his weapon to deflect the firsts strike. The following strike came quickly and Amen'ra was tilting himself quickly to let the weapon go past his shoulder before seeing the blade come back through the middle, attempting to impale him.

Carrying his momentum, Amen'ra would spin around the man ending up facing his backside and whispering "Over here cutie." into his friends ear. Leaping backward now to avoid any attacks from the man, he would somersault into a crouch with his blade still prepared for any form of aggression. He wasn't going to underestimate the mans skills, as they were on an even playing field and with that in mind he was lurching forward himself. Going for his own series of assaults.

First a downward slash with both hands on the hilt, similar to a samurais most basic attack followed by a quick swipe as if to slash open the stomach of his prey and then another two handed strike from the top. He would elegantly transition this into the opportunity to bring his knee up in an attempt to force him back before swinging his blade as if to decapitate the man. Sage was so impressive, and it made Amen'ra heart flutter to think someone like him thought he was doing good.

Hopefully they could keep the bout going and flowing as smoothly as it had been, with the two of them leaving this with the skill needed to show more improve. It was one thing to train with a weapon but to experience handling it in real combat was often the making or breaking of most warriors. Amen'ra refused to disappoint.

Sage †
His expectation that Amen’ra would easily dodge his attacks was indeed correct. But what he did after that caught him off guard. The breath of his voice brushed against his ears and the words sank into his mind. He could feel his heart beats even faster, as if it wasn’t beating fast at all throughout the sword play. He could feel butterflies in his stomach, his face turned red hot. He then tried to resist his body’s reactions and swung the sword to his back, spinning his body as he did so. Amen’ra again flawlessly dodged it and somersaulted, landing on a crouch as if he was a hero or something, at least that was what on Sage’s mind. His face still red hot but his eyes was filled with anger as he considered what Amen’ra did was cheating. He pointed his sword at Amen’ra as well, looking at him with anger but the red cheeks he had might not have conveyed what he felt but what he truly felt.

Amen’ra then struck forward, instead of using his sword to block, he stepped aside so that he won’t be hit. It was as if he had lose control over himself. He felt like he didn’t know how to use a sword anymore, but he had full control over his body. He ducked really low when Amen’ra swiped his sword, then Sage jumped backwards, avoiding another blow of the sword. He backed away when Amen’ra raised his knee and ducked again when he slashed his sword. Then Sage knew that Amen’ra wasn’t stable anymore as he had raised his knee, even though he would land his leg again on the ground, it would take sometime for him to stabilize himself. So Sage took this opportunity by kicking at his raised leg, using the element of surprise, he would jump towards Amen’ra while stretching his left hand to Amen’ra’s hand that was holding the sword, grabbing its wrist so that he couldn’t use his sword. His other hand then pointed the sharp blade of his sword at Amen’ra’s throat.

Being at that position, sitting on top of Amen’ra, he would breathe deep and fast as it all happened so quickly, maybe it was because he was triggered by the word ‘cutie’, even though he actually liked to be called that but they were battling so he considered it as cheating. “I-I guess I win?” he said while chuckling at the end, his words still breathy as he was catching his breath.

Sage then noticed the sound of armors clanking together, signing that someone wearing an armor was heading towards them. Sage then realized the embarrassing position he was in, so he quickly got on his feet and faced to the direction of the sound of the clanking armors.

He then saw someone who was wearing a holy knight's attire walking towards him, from that point he knew something was up. The knight then stopped when he stood near enough to Sage and greeted him, "I'm sorry to interrupt you sir, but one of the grand holy knights has requested your presence immediately, please follow me sir" the knight told Sage which he didn't expect at all to happen.

He looked at Amen'ra with guilt in his eyes then back at the knight. He didn't have much of a choice, it was duty's call anyways, so he turned to Amen'ra once again, "Hey, I'm sorry but I guess we'll meet again soon?" he said, then walked away, following the previous knight. While they walked away, Sage turned his head to look at Amen'ra, a warm smile carved on his face. He then turned back to face forward and walked along with the knight. He obviously wanted to spend more time with Amen’ra but that was how life works, you can’t cling to something for so long, but he believed that they will meet again, pretty soon actually.
