Sage †
It was another day in Orichidia. Sage didn't planned to stay that long in the town but he had grewn fond of it. He pulled up with black sweatpants and grabbed his light blue sweater, placing it over his head and wore it down to his waist. It was a bit large for him but he likes to wear oversized clothes as they were somewhat comfy. He walked outside of his motel room and put on his jogging shoes. He proceeded to lock the door and threw the keys in the air, snatching it mid air with a grin.

Sage walked outside of the building and the rays of the morning sun had hit his face. He took a deep breath as the freshness of the morning air is something he couldn't afford to not enjoy. He then looked at the streets of Orichidia with a warm smile. He then started to jog around Orichidia. Every day the first thing he would do was to jog around Orichidia. The air was fresher than most towns due to it being surrounded by trees and plants. It was like living in a city but less of the pollution and more of the green. Maybe that was the reason why he hadn't left Orichidia, it felt like home to him, especially him as he was a half-elf.

Humans had different opinions on Sage as his ears was pointed, the elves too was shocked at his appearance at first sight due to his ears being pointed but instead way shorter than the rest. He had learnt to give this thought zero attention as it had brought nothing beneficial to him. He took a deep breath and released it with a deep
"fuh~" as he cleared his mind and continued to jog.

Hana was furious at her. “How many days has it been lazing around doing nothing but watching people?! Faye, you are getting out of shape! What’s the use of a weak mage to the guild?! Get up! Get up! Get up! Grab your shoes and start running or something! Go!” The little voice hollered with her hands flying all over the place. They had stayed in Orchidia for almost three or four days now and every single day was spent out in the streets observing people. The little doll on her hand had had enough of it and finally demanded that Faye does something different for once, like exercise.

And that was the conversation that landed her on the streets of Orch with a pair of new looking running shoes. She was in full sports gear with an orange tank top over a black inner and a pair of blue baggy shorts. Most of her bubblegum pink hair was swept up neatly in a tight bun while a few locks fell into ripples over her half exposed shoulder. Thankfully, the day was bright but the sun wasn’t too harsh. It was still snowing last night but it hadn’t affected anything as Orchidia was going at its usual pace.

Taking a deep breath with Hana, too, in sports gear, Faye slowly started jogging to the beat of Hana’s encouragement. The young puppeteer had every bit of intention to be productive the whole day when she turned a corner and her eyes fell on something, or rather someone, that you don’t see every day. At least it was the first time for Faye and her eyes instantly sparkled in interest. Pointed ears and blonde hair; Faye was looking at him from behind but she had no doubt the boy was an elf or maybe half-elf.

“Hey!”
She sped to catch up, extending the hand with Hana in a way that if he turned around or noticed them, the first thing he would see be the little puppet. “You are an elf!” She chirped while Faye poked her face from behind, her expression as cold and indifferent as always.

Sage †
As he was jogging through the streets of Orichidia, he felt something over his shoulder followed by a voice he didn't recognize. His reflexes made him stop in his tracks and turn his head around. His mouth would open a bit, his face showed the expression of wonder. It wasn't every day that people went up to him so this occasion was quite peculiar to him.

When he turned his head fully, he could see a little puppet but his gaze instantly fell upon the girl behind it. Although her expression cold and indifferent, Sage had long ago learnt that the face could be the most misleading things of all things.

The line chirped by the puppet instantly made him chuckle, his smile warm as the sun.
"Well technically yeah, why?" he said with a little bit of muse. He looked at the puppet and the pink haired girl behind it with a calm expression, his usual warm smile still etched across his face

It wasn't always for people to walk up to him just to mention that he is an elf, most people just looked at him and went off with their own business. Plus he wasn't that popular like the other holy knights above him, so the fact that someone walked up to him like that left him amused. But he still enjoyed it as he didn't have that many friends so it would be fun to make new ones.

Oh! He had a beautiful smile. That was the first thing Faye noticed about the young blonde. It was hard not to when it seemed to brighten up the whole mood around them. And she was right about him being an elf, too. Well, he used the word ‘technically’ which meant he was most likely a half-elf, obviously one of the most hard to find species in Fiore.

‘Ultra-rare; get!’Faye celebrated inside her head. “Oh nothing! Just curious, you were born a half-elf?” Hana conveyed Faye’s question but almost hit herself the next moment for her stupidity. Of course he must have born as one! Elves were that race that no one magically became at the snap of some fingers! It was a long living race that mostly kept to themselves. “Ah, never mind, what is your name?” She intended to continue the conversation or even keep following him. As long as Faye got enough materials for a new puppet, she would be happy to do anything. The initial productive plans for the day had been thrown out a window the moment she saw his pointed ears.

“I’m Hana and she is Faye,” The little puppet gave him their names, suddenly remembering it was rude to ask someone their name without introductions first. “We are staying at the inn over there,” Faye pointed off to a simple looking building with her left hand. Her expression had not changed from start. She looked disinterested, not even a twitch in her facial muscles.

Sage †
The moment she asked Sage whether or not he was born as an elf made him chuckled a bit. It was quite amusing to find someone that seemed to get over-excited to meet a half-elf, most people would just give him weird looks. A fresh approach is never too bad.

She asked for his name but then introduced her name and the puppet's as well. It seemed like Faye socialize through her puppet, he did find it odd as you don't see that kind of thing every day, but he had been through shyness and social awkwardness a billion times before. Plus he found it rather cute for a woman to bring her puppet and still talk to them. It might seem childish but he himself can be childish so he didn't mind at all.

"My name's Sage, nice to meet you Faye, and Hana," he answered with yet another smile. Even though Faye's expression was indifferent he loves to smile at people. It all started back during his childhood days when his friends often smile at him and it brought him warmth and the comfort of being 'home'.

He was born as a half-elf and he often felt like he was all alone in the world and that nobody could understand him. Some of the humans and elves both gave him weird looks when they first saw him, but the smile of his childhood friends gave him the feeling of acceptance and love.

As he found Faye to be rather interesting, he wanted to spend more time with her talking about random things. He looked around and saw that there was an open-air cafe across the street. He was sweating from the jog and so he thought it would be nice if he stayed away from closed areas. He turned to Faye, and Hana, with enthusiasm in his eyes, "Hey, wanna talk more at the cafe over there?" he asked while pointing at the cafe, a slight smile could be seen even when he was asking.

It shouldn't have happened but you let it Now you're down on the ground screaming medic The only thing that comes is the post-traumatic stresses Shields, body armors and vests don't properly work That's why you're in a locker full of hurt The enemy within and all the fires from your friends The best medicine's to probably just let it win
These battle scars don't look like they're fading
Faye wasn’t expecting him to be such a friendly person. Usually, when it came to these kinds of situations, people generally took Hana as weird. They felt someone communicating with a doll even weirder. Faye, for these reasons, was used to get rejected by others and their unwillingness to deal with her. Occasionally, however, she did find people like him. One she could easily think of was Snowflake. But then again, something told her it was because she was used to seeing stranger things. Mages in general seemed more tolerant of Faye. And something –two pointy ears- told her that this person dealt a lot with magic, too.

Thus when he invited her to a café, Faye instantly agreed. She hoped their conversation would help her get to know him more. After all, out of many puppets in her collection, a half-elf would be a first. She walked over to the open café he was pointing at, a small but neat building with a few white tables decked in front of it. “Orchidia sure is a beautiful town, isn’t it? Do you live here or are you traveling around like I am?” Hana asked as the ever so social one as she was, relaying Faye’s questions. As they conversed, she sat on a white wooden chair and stretched her limbs. Exercising after long, lazy days meant more muscle ache. It was no good.

Faye didn't say anything at first, nor did Hana. He thought that she rejected his offer but then he realized that they were heading towards the place he was pointing at. He smiled wide as he was glas she accepted his offer.

She kept up with her and sat opposite of her. He let a slight "fuh~" as he was tired of jogging. He heard Hana asknhim and he smiled, "Yes it is beautiful," he agreed to her. "I travel around like you do. I have tasks to do here as a holy knight," he answered while lookong for a waiter as he was squenching in thirst which to his luck, one arrived next to him, "Can I have a strawberry milkshake please? And some fries." He said chuckling at the end. Sweating causes one to lose salt and he need to gain it back.

It was kind of not fitting for a man to order a strawberry milkshake but Sage disn't care plus he haven't been treated like a grown up man despite being in his older teen years. He looked at Faye with a smile, "What do you want?" he asked. It wasn't always he had this kind of company. He only knew two person from work and they were sometimes busy. So a new company outside of work would be thrilling to have. He had been quite lonely since this few years not having a close group of friends.

When Sage mentioned the Holy Knights, Faye immediately snuck a peek at his blonde hair on reflex. She wasn’t sure what it was with the Holy Knights and yellows or gold, but Faye found herself often imagining these colors on their mention. It was probably the words; the word holy just screams gold and yellow for Faye. Now, she was suddenly having images of an elf puppet with all those fancy clothes. Ahh, the amount of ideas swimming in her head was almost endless at this point.

As her focus came back to Sage, Faye noticed that he had already made his order and raised Hana to follow suit. She nodded coldly as he asked for what she wanted and proceeded to answer the waiter through Hana. “”Vanilla milkshake with a chicken sandwich, thank you!” Hana exclaimed lovely while Faye ignored a faint rise of the waiter’s eyebrows. She had gotten used to them so well that she didn’t even think when it came to ignoring them anymore.

As the waiter went back, Faye felt a sudden silence falling upon them. She had many questions to ask but was also trying to be understanding. Not everyone liked to open up on the very first day of meeting someone, after all. Yet, for the sake of her puppets, Faye decided to boldly go on with her interrogations. “How long will you be in Orch for?”

Sage †
He wasn't expecting the question from Faye, or Hana. It wasn't the type of question someone would ask unless they would want to meet with the asked person again. He had read several books on human psychology back on Caelum but he had rather not be too judgmental and enjoy some time with a new company. Plus she looks friendly despite her expression or the peculiar way of her communicating to others. It must have been that Sage was very empathetic that he could see through all this and feel what she truly felt.

"I'm not sure myself, but I guess it would be a few more days" he chuckled as he answered as it amused him that the holy knights wasn't the type of faction that really care about dates and stuff like that even though it is important. "But you know, stuff could happen and maybe I'll leave sooner or later, we don't know what's coming for us don't we?" he continued because he had learned from years ago that things sometimes doesn't go like how we planned it to be. He knew that he wasn't in control of anything except for his actions. He was the type of person to be prepared of anything due to this fact. He did live up to his name after all.

The waitress then came with their orders, placing their drinks and food on the table then left. He'd reached for the strawberry milkshake first as he was so thirsty. The sweet taste filled his mouth and it slow temperature provided some pleasure to him but he didn't show this of course. He then reached for his fries and started to munch on them one by one.

Faye nodded in understanding. Indeed, plans always changed when there is no other way. “It could be the same for Faye and I, too. We probably won’t be staying in Orchidia forever,” Hana answered. Faye definitely had plans to travel out soon. Just that for the time being, she had found someone very interesting enough to tail. And no, she wasn’t talking about Sage. The half-elf was intriguing enough to be a part of her collection, however, the one she was most curious about at the moment was a certain snow haired woman.

Faye’s thoughts drifted off as her eyes fixed on the fallen white, cold fluff over the sidewalk. It didn’t come back until the waitress placed their order in front of them. Faye gave her a stoic nod and started with the vanilla milkshake. “If you go out travelling, we wonder where you would go next?” Faye again had Hana speak up. Perhaps he could give her suggestions as to where she should go, too. “We need to earn the money for our travel expenses before we can go anywhere. Faye here is too lazy to do any missions,” Hana complained. It was the truth. She rarely got into the mood to take up any quest. It wasn’t until money ran short even to cover her hobby that Faye would finally start moving. She started to take a bite off her sandwich.

The question left Sage hanging for a bit, he looked at the snowy road outside the shop. He then looked at Faye, and Hana, and took one of his fries, biting it. "Well I had traveled to every known country so currently I'm just following the holy knight's orders.", he answered briefly. He didn't find the muse to travel again anytime soon, but if it was with someone else he would do it. For the moment, he just wanted to have friends and a he was getting closer with a guy from job, so that's a good start.

He laughed a little as he heard that Faye was lazy, "Well sometimes I become lazy too but I always fix that with sweets like chocolates and ice creams. The sugar rush gives me a boost to actually do something." he had gave Faye an advice. He doesn't like to not do something and laze about all day so he would do something so that he would be productive. He had always solve problems, it was his favorite thing ever.

He then grabbed some fries and fill his stomach with it. The fries would finish rather quickly as Sage was a fast eater after all. He would then grab the strawberry milkshake and drank it pleasurably. It felt sweet and nice, Sage had always liked the bliss of sweetness.

Holy Knights, hmm. Honestly, Faye had very mixed feelings towards the order of them knights. She couldn’t determine whether they were good or bad. The religious obsession they sometimes showcased made Faye sick but at the same time some of the things they preached sounded well, too. In the end, she had decided dealing with them or even thinking about them weren’t worth it. She was curious however, “What do you even do as a Holy Knight? Travel around and arrest heretics?” Probably an ignorant question, but Faye wanted to hear an answer from a real Holy Knight.

“Oh, Faye isn’t tempted by sweets,”
Hana answered. “She is an odd one that likes to lock herself up in a room and work on puppets,” Hana, Faye, said this with great pride. There was nothing Faye liked more than working with puppets and staging small shows with them. More importantly, each puppet she crafts contain special characteristics of people Faye found interesting. When some of these characters came together, they made very intriguing stories.

“You know, you’re probably going to end up as one of her other puppets. She has never encountered a half-elf before. There is no way she will pass up this chance,” Hana giggled humorously as if she had let him in on some much preserved secret.

Sage †
Sage laughed at the mention of them capturing heretics. He found it completely amusing of the idea of them doing such things. After mustering back his strength and clearing his throat, as Faye did sound serious after all, he answered, “Well we, the holy knights, only protect, arresting people is what the rune knights do, not us. However I doubt the Order would sent out such order especially here in Fiore where everything is pretty much diverse.” he would sound serious on the matter, even though he was just laughing a few seconds ago. He had random mood swings and that’s why he could sound serious after having a laugh. He’s very empathetic and he absorbs the emotion around him quite easily, like a sponge absorbing water.

Sage’s ears would perk up at the mention of puppets, even though he found it quite weird for someone’s to not be tempted by sweets he had never met with someone who creates dolls before. Then at the mention that there will be a puppet version of himself his face lit up with excitement, “Ooh I’d be honored to be added to the collections!”. It was something you don’t have the chance to get every day. Something new always excites Sage and he couldn’t help but to look forward to it. He then sipped at his strawberry milkshakes and he then realized that he finished it already.

Sage looked around and his gaze was fixed at the sky. He had adored it since he was a child, the beauty and grace of the sky is too beautiful for him. Then he noticed that it was going to be noon in about a few hours, which he had a meeting to attend to. When he remembered this he jumped a little as if he was in a rush, “Oh god look at the time, I have to go and take a bath and get ready for a meeting.” He then placed money on top of the table that would be more than enough to pay for both of their food, he stood from his chair in a rush, “It’s nice meeting you Faye,” he smiled warmly at her, “and Hana,” he added chuckling slightly at the end and jogged back to his motel room while waving them goodbye, “till we meet again!” he said cheerfully then turned his head back to the front and walked on. It was truly fun meeting new people. Even though Sage was quite shy around people at first, he loves to socialize with others. Throughout the years his shyness began to disappear slowly, maybe because he was more mature. Meeting a person such as Faye was quite intriguing to him, as her personality is one that one don’t find everyday.

Diverse. Indeed, Fiore was very much inclusive in its social setup. However, that didn’t mean everything was as nice as it seemed on the outside. There were many political and religious gamble within the country that ordinary citizens could only speculate and for mages –closer to the center of all troubles- to only know little snippets. Faye was one of the very few that did not care but was knowledgeable of it. But she wasn’t going to tell that to Sage whom she just met that day. Thus she let that conversation fall away with a shrug and nod.

“That’s a surprise,” Hana exclaimed at Sage’s enthusiasm to be used as reference for a puppet. Faye flashbacked to the numerous times people almost called the Rune Knights on them for the same exact thing. She was surprised someone wasn’t judging her hobby for once. If the talk on Holy Knights had not left any impression on her, his positive attitude and kind persona at that instant definitely did. And just as the time slipped off and it was already noon, Faye too recognized it was time to leave. She reached for the pockets of her track pants when Sage placed the money down for both of them, not even giving her a bit of time to protest as he left like a mini whirlwind. “Ah,” Faye wondered when they will meet again. Perhaps she could collect more material about him then.
