It was just another day in Marigold. Rishi walked through the city streets, Venus at her side, looking for something to do. Things were so lonely out in this town, when you really didn't know anybody. Everyone seemed to ignore you, and act like you weren't there, and as the rain started to fall, tears started running down the grey haired girl's face. She had no one to talk to, no one to hang out with, and it was truly terrible. She was going to move soon, yes, going to somewhere new, somewhere to where she believed all of the few meaningful people were.

The sun hadn't been covered as the rain came down, causing every drop to glisten. The tears on her face shined brightly, and Venus had looked down. Today was so depressing, and Rishi had no idea what to do. She was planning to just go back home and mope around in her hotel room, but Venus had pulled her out into the cold morning air, out to go do things, to brighten up her day. There wasn't really anything that she could pull herself to do today though, so she really didn't need to come outside. She had Venus tugging at her pant leg, and even though it became loose and the grey haired mage hated it that way, right now she even have enough feeling to care about anything. She needed someone, someone who could stay with her forever and always. She needed to find them, whoever they may be, and get together with that person. This was going to be her next driving force, other than cooking delicious meals for all her guild mates and seeing all the happiness spread throughout the guild.

She finally had a bit of motivation, so she gave Venus a couple pats on the head and made him let go, and she finally fixed her pant leg. Venus ran along the streets, trying to lead the grey haired girl to something. She had power walked after him, seeing as she didn't have too much motivation to do anything, and she followed him all the way to the quest board. Of course he would lead her here, trying to get her to do something productive. He was smart, she could admit that, but he wasn't the smartest. She squatted down and whispered something into Venus' ear, making him step back, sitting down a second later. She looked at the quest board and grabbed a job, the client somewhat familiar. She grabbed a job and walked off, going the opposite direction from her hotel room. If Venus wanted her to do something and not be mopey, then she would do so, for the only person she had left.

More tears fell down her face as she walked, and the rain had started to cease. The girl's hair was damp, her sad eyes glimmering in the morning light. If only there were someone she could love, someone she could care for, then things would be different, she would be happy.

Rishi kept walking with her head down, not wanting to have to deal with all the crowds. They all seemed to filter out of her way, and she had no problem getting to where she needed to get to. Both the girl and the vulpix stayed quiet throughout the trip, and everyone that they passed by moved out of their way and sometimes gave an odd look. Rishi didn't really care what people thought anymore, nor what people cared for. She didn't care about anything at that time, and it wasn't good. She was going to fall further down into a pit of despair, and that was not good at all. She wouldn't be the same, and everyone she ever knew would mean nothing to her. She was becoming weak, not really wanting to move anymore. Her feelings were tearing her apart slowly. She would need to repair this, and she would need to do it fast.

The girl and her companion had made it out into the farmlands, and they went up to knock on the farmer's door. There was finally sunshine outside, and only sunshine. While she was waiting she turned around to see a plethora of vines out in the fields, which the girl had found a little more than odd. Wouldn't that ruin the land? You wouldn't be able to farm on it would you? These were thoughts that were going through her head as she waited for her client to answer the door. She only had to wait a few more seconds before the door had opened, and there stood farmer Jim, looking as odd as he did before. She had wondered what kind of job she would be doing for him this time, hopefully not killing any more animals, otherwise she was going to leave and never ever return. This would most likely be her last job in Marigold, as there was nothing for her here and she had just felt... out of place. Everyone was just so different, and seeing how they all reacted towards her shows that they only really care about themselves, which weren't the kind of people that Rishi wanted to have anything to do with. There were also many thieves in town, and she couldn't have anything else taken from her, otherwise she wouldn't have enough money to live off of.

The farmer had invited her inside, and she had felt the warm rays coming from the house. She and Venus went inside, leaving the cold air of outside behind them. The farmer had welcomed them inside and had given them a few things to eat, all of them coming from his farm. The pork chops were tasty and the corn was sweet, and it had cheered Rishi up a bit, giving her just a little more fuel to get the job done. The farmer had explained to her what she was to be doing while she ate, and it was actually quite interesting, and it had something to do with the vines.

Rishi was ready to start her quest, and it's description was quite interesting. She was to find the source of the vines and get rid of it. Now that might sound easy enough, but there was a twist to these vines. They were pretty much alive, and this was something that Rishi found hard to believe. The only possible way that she knew of that would make inanimate objects such as vines come to life would be some type of spell, something that would break the normal laws of physics and rules of life. She was told that they drag people away, and they are never seen again. Rishi wanted to laugh at this when she heard it, hearing that all those selfish people out there were getting what they deserved, and in her mind she did. On the outside though there was only a grin that stretched across her face, staying silent as she listened to the farmer speak. He looked at her strangely when she had the grin on her face, but kept talking anyways as if it weren't there, and Rishi liked that.

She packed a little bit of food up and put it inside of her bag, getting ready to go out and find the source of this issue. Venus had seemed stuffed, but now he also looked like he was full of energy and was ready to go on more than a few adventures. Rishi sighed, opened the door, and stared outside. She would be going back into the world, to a place of rude people and killer plants, to a place of hatred and sorrow. She would have to go, and there was always the first step to victory. She took a step outside and felt a gust of cold wind rush against her face, blowing her hair backwards. This was it. The time was now.

She walked outside with Venus next to her, looking around for any signs of the living vines. She saw regular vines, and they really didn't seem like too much of a problem. Some of them though really were moving though, and that kind of worried the grey haired fire mage. Could they see? Did they have traps set up so that they could catch her? If she did get caught, was there no hope in her surviving? There were many more questions running through her mind as she saw the vines slither across the floor, and she had to come up with a plan. The vines seemed to not mess with the farmland so much, but their territory was the grassland. She sat down and thought for a bit, Venus sitting in her lap. There were so many different ways she could do this and fail, so she had to plan carefully. She no longer had her katana, selling it to a shopkeeper a bit ago, so she wouldn't be able to chop them up. Suddenly she had gotten the best idea. One that would keep her alive while coming into contact with the vines.

Yes, the plan was perfect. Rishi would be able to come into contact with these evil looking vines and be able to not die. She was told that if she got dragged into the vines then she wouldn't come back alive, so she would have to end her plan before that happens. She stood up and told Venus to stay where he was, as she didn't want him getting hurt. She took a step into the grasslands and almost immediately a vine shot out and grabbed at her boot. She put her leg up before it could grab it and ran deeper into the grasslands, looking for a stronger vine.

Eventually, she had gone much deeper into the grasslands, and she had seen much stronger vines. Now you may think she was walking there, but along the way, a vine had grabbed her by the ankle and was pulling her towards the source of the vines. This was exactly what she wanted, and everything was going according to plan. She was going to let the vine keep pulling her deeper into the grasslands until she could see where the vines were coming from, and then she was going to stop the vine that was dragging her in it's tracks.

She had gotten pulled pretty far into the grasslands, and she had started to see a large pile of vines, and a shiny orb sticking out of the ground next to it. Now was the time. She lit a fireball in her hand and touched the vine with it, causing it to burn up and shrivel away, leaving only ashes in a line going into the pile, it then going up in flames. Rishi stood up and walked over to the orb, and stomped on it, causing it to split into pieces, it then vanishing. She sighed with relief and rubbed her ankle. It gave her a bit of a rash, and it had been starting to itch. She figured that it wouldn't bother her too much though, so she headed back the way she came to go pick up Venus and go back to the farmer's nice warm home.

She made it back to the edge of the grasslands, and she had hugged Venus with all of her heart and apologized for leaving for so long. She picked the small creature up and walked back to the familiar farmlands, back to where she was going to go get paid which would let her be able to go home.

She made it not too long after to see Farmer Jim waiting outside for her, the sky turning grey again. He had a look of pure joy on his face though, which made it seem as if the sun was brighter than it ever was. He thanked her for all of her help and gave her the money she was owed, letting her finally go home. She walked back to her hotel room with an expressionless face, and was ready to go home and probably cry.
