Times were tough for Christian right now, having only recently recovered from his injuries at the battle of crocus. His shoulder was still covered in bandages, but at least now he could move it a round a bit more than he could of before. To say the least his condition was improving, and he was now able to walk around freely. He decided a good place to go tonight would the lounge at Batra Inn (where he had been staying.)

He had to get out of his room in the Inn, considering there were some bad memories of a certain seductive vampire in that room. Nonetheless, he was now able to go about his business and not have to worry about his shoulder hurting, and he was planning all the while to take advantage of his newfound health.

The lounge at the Inn was quiet tonight, relaxing. There were very few people around, so Zane was able to just sit at a table and read his book, all the while eating small pieces of bread that he got as a snack. This was all he needed, and he was sure that knowing his luck someone would come around and talk to him again. And he was honestly up for it, just making sure he wouldn't be *too* fooled by a pretty girl's words again.

As Victor had left her for another time, Phoebe wondered how the game worked, what more did he want from her that she didn't want to offer? Apart from a game, some random kisses that Persephone started, she wasn't entirely sure what she had to think about it. She let it be and wandered around Crocus. With the idea of a new emperor, she wondered what to think about the whole situation, it wasn't that it had big influence on her, so she could just shrug it off.

She walked into the inn again, she had a round around Crocus, see the most things were restored, people came out of their hiding and it already became a bit more lively. She wasn't sure if it was because of the declaration of this Emperor or that it always happened in Fiore after a while, mostly because she had never been there when issues where at hand. She heard about Hargeon but had been still in Magnolia.

She entered the lounge and looked around, there were enough open spots and she could use a bit of food and conversation before it would be the same as in Magnolia, the whole reason why she had left in the first place. Although that adventure had gone wrong as well but well here she was in the capital. She took a seat on a table next to a person alone as well, reading a book. Something she could do as well, as she was trying to see the title of the book, she was already daydreaming about the title of the book that she last read. Not noticing she was still staring at the book cover herself.

Oh boy, just as he mentioned how he was gonna control himself if a pretty girl sat in front of him, just that happened to him. It seemed he was unlucky, or perhaps he was lucky instead. He'd still try to be careful though, remembering the fact that the last time he talked to a girl in this hotel he ended up with blood sucked from his shoulder. The girl seemed to be very beautiful, she certainly had a sense of... maturity? to her. Zane wasn't quite sure, after all, he himself was pretty much clueless with women in the first place. Looking at her for a second, he noticed that she had been staring at his book for quite some time. He wondered if she was curious, so he figured he'd spark up some discussion. He had become a little more suitable with talking over the past year, though he still preferred to talk in short sentences.

"Are you curious in this book? It's about a boy who gets swept away on a quest to defeat a dragon." he said, thinking that perhaps the way he worded the book it could sound too "nerdy" to the woman - but wait, why did that matter? It's not like he was trying to impress her or anything... at least not intentionally.

What was actually the last book she read and when was it? She had sold a book to Alice in Orchidia, and she was reading a book there and she had taken one to home, where she accidentally showed up in Baska, but where did she leave her book? In Baska? Actually no, she must have left it in Hargeon after getting out so soon and that was a bad thing that she didn't want to consider. It was Persephone her fault! Letting that poor page fall into a hole and die! How could they, the person had done nothing wrong except for dressing ugly and reading a paper from before he was born and with that being stupid, Don't worry too much about a monkey. Persephone mentioned and she snapped out of it when she noticed that she was still staring at the book in front of her and her eyes quickly went to change to look at the person that was holding the book, oops. That was rude.

But the person spoke to her and she gave him a smile, "It sounds interesting." She meant that and for a second she wondered if Darius would have written such a thing but he had said he had not written anything yet, articles, not a book. "Much more interesting than my life." Which made the Goddess in her mind make a scornful sound. But Phoebe dismissed it, "It must be a good book if you can read it in a place like this." She would be too quickly distracted by the noises of other conversations.

Zane didn't think too much of being able to read in a place like this. He was able ton concentrate on the things he liked easily. After all, he was a chef who often worked in noisy kitchens yet still found a way to focus on all the recipes and methods that were needed to cook the various dishes that he was asked to prepare. Yet still, he had to now think of a way to continue on this conversation in his own way. So this is how talking felt like.. such a responsibility. Though he supposed that it wasn't a bad thing if he ended up being able to get over his problem with talking in the end. Besides.. he had been lonely for too long now. "Well, it is pretty interesting, yeah. Do you read a lot yourself?" he asked, wondering if perhaps the woman took an interest in books as well. That certainly wasn't a bad place to start a discussion. He would do this one step at a time. He wasn't gonna dive into the deep end, but rather make his way slowly into it. Sooner or later, he'd be able to swim in the deep end of conversation with ease. He just had to put in a little work to get there, that was all.

Then Zane just up and left

EXIT

Phoebe leaned with her right cheek on her right hand and smiled at the guy she was talking too. Persephone ushered her to get more information but the raven haired girl brushed her companion in her mid away, "I like reading a lot, and I try to read as often as I can, sometimes I'm just very busy and it doesn't happen a lot." But yet she had read more before she bumped into a guy called Victor who always dragged her along for jobs. Which was actually good, she could use the money and the like. "Do you like to read?" Which sounded like an obvious question but she actually already had made the assumption because he could read in a noisy place like this, she just wanted to know for sure. Perhaps he was just starting and picked up reading as something to do when he had time left, finally Persephone stopped stirring, He's an elf.. If it wouldn't be obviously visible she would have rolled her eyes. Persephone being obsessed with everything that was for nature, we need him as our ally! The Goddess roared in her mind.

Phoebe ignored her at all because she was starting to make a new friend with the same interest her and that was reading, she didn't want to talk about nature for a second.

In the end, no matter how the conversation would go, Phoebe would have to go and have to figure out some other things to do and she would, so even if she liked discussing books, it gave her some homesick feeling that she didn't want to think about for too long. Consequences and possibilities that she didn't want to think about in any other way either. So she decided that it was best if she would just go to her room before she would start to sob like a pathetic girl that was left behind. She wasn't pathetic and she was very well at being alone. After all, she wasn't alone. Persephone was everywhere where she would go.

So Phoebe thanked the elf for the conversation and left. She had not even got to the point of introducing herself, and she only noticed when she left the lounge. What a shame, she had been very rude in that way and perhaps a bit dumb. Finally finding a person that was interested in books as well and she had not even gotten to the point of asking a name. She shook her long black hair out of her face and decided to continue with her plans for the evening and sleep soon.

Exit.
