QUEST

Quest: In Hushed Whispers

Client:
Bishop Santos: A crude and cunning man who has seized a majority of the control in Dahlia using his influence as a bishop. Santos leads inquisitive trials, burns townsfolk to the stake, and tortures those whom he believes to be colluding with the forces of the night. He seems to be very ignorant to the fact that most things can not be solved through his religious methods.

Summary: Bishop Santos has seized control of Dahlia unofficially after Lord Aelwic died. He believes it is absolutely necessary and will do anything to ensure his position. Most won't argue about it in public because they're too afraid to be called heretics and tried by the inquisition which often leads to a death sentence for colluding. Still, there are a few people persuading others that Bishop Santos should not govern Dahlia in secret while holding meetings. The bishop needs these heretics to be removed.

Objective: Murder those who oppose Bishop Santos and gather in secret to discuss who should actually govern Dahlia now that Lord Aelwic has passed away.

Extra Rewards:

  • Strength +1

Details:

  • Create a topic in the Abandoned Streets.
  • It is night time. A zealous priest has given you a note with an address on it. Find the address.
  • While strolling through the streets, you'll notice that it is incredibly difficult to find the address. Besides that, there is almost no one outside to ask about it. Even if there were people, you would not be able to talk about it since it must be taken care of in secret entirely.
  • Eventually you'll find a house which seems deserted, its doors are bolted. In order to enter it in secret without making too much noise, you need to enter it via the back through a window on the main floor. Break it quickly without making too much noise, of course.
  • Explore the house, you won't be able to find much. It seems a family used to live here at some point but they probably passed away, or around these parts of Fiore, brutally got murdered, and is no longer being used.
  • At some point, you'll find a closet on the main floor which is slightly moved. Investigate it.
  • Behind the closet is a door, it seems to be enchanted somehow. Use your might to open the door without using magic to not alert anyone. It is a pretty heavy door, but it does not make any noise when moved. They must've thought about it when placing it here.
  • Behind the door is stairway which leads into the basement. Go down. The basement is a 10 by 10 room with 3 meter high ceiling.
  • As you get down, you'll find nine people discussing with each other, surrounded by a few candles. The group consists of an elderly man, a family; a man with his wife, a young boy and a girl who seem to be around the age of 10, two adult males, and two females.
  • They can't use magic and don't have any weapons with them below, they will be startled when they see you. Do not let anyone live. Murder them all without making much noise. Don't use magic if it would draw too much attention to the house.
  • After you're done, escape via the back and disappear into the night.

CAITLYN, THE TRAVELLING MERCHANT

■ 513/1000 WORDS ■ "This isn't what I wanted"

The Dahlia streets always seemed to be busiest. It was almost silent except for whispers here and there. Caitlyn was used to it. Everyone thought of her as mad or insane. But still, it seemed as if people were more devoted to The Nameless than the other gods. And the people came to her temple willingly. It amused her sometimes, other times she wondered who was doing something wrong.

"Hmph"

A man would grunt as he passed by, a piece of paper forcing its way into her hands.

Normally, she would find it skeptical, but with a long boring night, she had nothing better to take up her time. Smiling, she would read the note only to find an address. She would have gone to it, but she knew well enough that it wasn't a real place. At least that's what she thought.

She had roamed these streets far too often as a child, and now she lived here. "Wait." she spoke under her breath, "This must be by-"

She begun to run back to her temple, only to stop half of the way there. Buildings were torn down and left to rot. Holes in the stone and walls were seen and so were many of the beggars. She wanted to liberate them and show them the power of a real god, but that wasn't her reason for being here. If this place was real, it was on the side of the town that no one went to, and where no one cared to list the numbers or street names.

She smiled as she came to a house that seemed to be bolted shut.

She would find a window in the back of the house and swiftly swing her elbow to shatter the glass. She would crawl through the opening, only to hear some muffled sound from inside.

She looked at the note again.

" Let no one live. "

She smiled. She didn't do this for Bishop Santos, she would do it for the Nameless One. She would walk through the house. She had been quiet, but she wanted to make a mess of things. She would begin walk by some desks and tables with some photos of what looked like a happy family. She would take the pictures and drop them to the ground, shattering the glass. Each time she did so, she would swear she could hear a heart beat louder and louder and louder . . . .

She would make the most of this day. It would bring her that much closer to her own slavation.

She would wander the house, eventually finding her way into a child's room. She could smell the stench of corruption and deceit. It would sicken her, filling her with more and more rage. Whatever it was, it was going to find it's end in the most unpleasant way.

She would make her way to the wardrobe only to try to push it further aside. it wasn't until she would move it half way that she found the real reason she was there.

CAITLYN, THE TRAVELLING MERCHANT

■ 1065/1000 WORDS ■ "This isn't what I wanted"

She had begun to push on the door's handle, trying to pry it loose. It would take a good few minutes until it would budge. When it finally broke loose, the entire door would swing open with ease. It didn't make a single sound, something that seemed quite odd.

Looking passed the door she could see a long stairway down deep into the house. She couldn't remember what floor she was on, but it seemed to go a long way. She would begin to slowly shut the door behind her, putting a small object in the way to make sure it didn't lock her out. Then she would climb down the stairs.

She would find a room at the bottom of the steps. A collection of people gathered around candle light, talking about who knows what. She didn't give a single damn. They opposed Santos surely, so what else was to be said?

She could see the children, and that alone made her smile. She would slowly make her way into the room, creeping onto the kids. The people all seemed to be loud in that moment, arguing over something. It was her chance. She grabbed the children, and stared at the occupants.

"Scream, they die. Take a step, they die." she spoke. "I only want one of you. I want the rest of you to face that wall with your hands above your head pressed against it." She stared at who looked to be the worried parents.

The would all begin to obey without question. She begun to giggle but she held it in. Immediately she tightened her grip on the children, taking a step towards the rest of them. The would slowly choke and suffocate.

"Turn around, I'll kill you as well." she would say, putting the kids on the table. She would walk her way to the father and the man beside him. With her open palms she would take the both of their heads and slam it against the wall.

The wife would begin to scream as blood would spatter over her face. Caitlyn would take her by the throat and squeeze her neck until it bled. The other man seemed to fight back, of which Caitlyn kicked him below the belt before releasing the bloodied and limb corpse. She would take her right knee and slam the man's skull into the wall as well. Of the two remaining girls, they screamed and begun to press against the corner of the room. The old man seemed to take care of himself, having a stroke or some kind of heart attack.

Caitlyn made her way to the girls only to land her fist unto their pretty faces. Again and again she would pound into them, listing to their muffled screams from behind their broken jaws. She would do so until the only sound in the room was what sounded like mashed potatoes landing on the ground and the slight crackle of the candle flames.

She had enjoyed herself. She would do no more than take the robe of the old man to cover her own now bloodied clothing. She would then ascend up the stairs, as if she was climbing up to heaven.

She was going to go back home and have a nice sleep after her long day.
