Chelvaric Walderkat

Chelvaric was laying in the grass near marigold as a beautiful ray of sunlight was shining down on him from above as he was sleeping for his afternoon nap. He didn’t feel like doing anything he just wanted to sleep and dream the day away. It’s not like he had to do anything anyway he had enough jewels for the few coming months and his cabin was nearly finished so he had time to goof off and relax. It was also very needed since all the events in Hargeon had made him very tired.

Although something good had come from it too as he could finally call Snowflake his and that was something that would make his day for a long time to come. At the same time it made him a bit more worried if she was safe or not. But he shouldn’t worry too much she could handle herself really well.  He stared at the clouds as he was trying to find some shapes into them while he laid his hand on Elisa to pet her. She was happily snoring her day off and using the light to make her skin greener. Plants needed a lot of sunshine so this was good for her.

Venus Rosé

The summery days have long gone, the blistering hot weather and the warm wind that blew across the country -- it was finally autumn. The weather has grown much colder, and she liked it, since Snowflake was one who preferred the colder season over the hotter days. It was more relaxing to her and she was already excited for winter to arrive. Silence filled the area and only sounds she could hear was the low howling of the wind that blew across the vicinity and it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it was the sort of silence that her body had been craving after travelling to and from between towns. Marigold was one of the most peaceful towns that she had been, aside from Orchidia, and she loved how peaceful they were, with nothing to disturb the tranquility.

Snowflake had been resting in Marigold for a while now, together with Chelvaric and if she recalled, he was supposed to be on a quest with her but somehow, he had disappeared first without telling her. So, there she was, finding her one and only beau in the middle of the grasslands, since it was the only possible place that he would be in. She trudged through the ground, pushing the tall grass aside as they swayed back and forth from the flow of the gentle breeze.

”Here you are.”

The female plopped herself down beside the man, reclining onto her arm as she gazed down at Chelvaric who was laying upon the ground. ”You didn’t even tell me that you were going to leave.” She pulled a small frown before giving him a small peck on the lips. Now that they were in a relationship, Snowflake was more open with herself and was no longer shy to show her affection towards her lover, though she tried not to do so much in public.

Chelvaric started to feel sleepy and was starting to drift off into a slumber but then he heard the rustling of grass coming from his side. He wonder what it could be and not much later his second half suddenly dropped down next to him. She looked as amazing as she always did and he got a little peck on his lips which made him feel warm inside. She suddenly asked him why he left without her.

“Oh I had an urgent matter to attend to on my way to here, sorry that I left in such a hurry. Let me atone for my sins.”, he said to her and pulled her onto him rolling through the grass before they stopped with her underneath him he kisses her another time and left some small kisses in her neck before he got up.

“We better start on that job then my little snowflake.”, he said to her and pulled her up from the grass. Elisa was looking a bit mad at him for throwing her off his chest but it was more playfully mad then really mad. “It seems farmer Jim has problems with an overgrowth of vines, we have to go and get rid of them. I don’t know if you have ever done jobs for him. He was actually my first job client ever, it’s going to be good to see him again”, he was saying while they started to walk to the farm.

Her lips parted slightly in surprise, followed by a gasp as she was suddenly brought onto the ground with Chelvaric on top of her, his weight pressing down against her and she’d lightly tug onto his shirt as he bent down to kiss him. A short giggle escaped her lips when he trailed down her neck and with kisses, she liked it when he did that. She was glad that there was no one in the grass plains otherwise, it would have been a rather embarrassing sight. She preferred if such acts weren’t done in public since her image to others was really important to her.

The female nodded in agreement to her partner when he suggested that they should get going to the location of the quest. She pushed herself up onto her feet and dusted blades of grass off her skirt. ”Oh, yes. I’ve worked for him a couple of times before but I haven’t seen him since then.” She replied, wondering how long it has actually been since she had visited Marigold. There wasn’t actually any reason for her to be there, but now that she was here, she was glad that she made a visit to the town. Upon their arrival to the farmlands, they were greeted by Farmer Jim, who welcomed them with a bright smile and a wave.

He then explained their main objective of the quest, which was to stop the manifestation of the vines and when he looked over the blue yonder, she could see the overgrowth of vines in the field.

Apparently Snow had worked with the man before too, it seemed he had lots of jobs all the time. Farmers had to deal with a lot of trouble after all that they couldn’t always solve themselves and then they had to ask mages for it. But this was a sort of rich farmer since his lands were quite big and stretched around Marigold. He was probably the number one farmer of marigold. It didn’t take long for the man to explain what he needed. Chelvaric looked at the big amount of vines that were growing in the distance. It didn’t look too natural if they had grown so big and in such a small amount of time. He wondered how they would get through all of them.

“It seems we will have to make our way through them, let’s be careful. Farmer Jim said they will try to pull you into the bushes and who knows what will happen then.” Chelvaric said to Snow as they were walking closer. Once they reached the vines it was only a matter of seconds or they wrapped around their ankles. He wished he could control his magic better already so that he could take care of these plants. But alas he still didn’t have his powers under control to do things like that.

Venus Rosé

”That looks really bad.”

The female muttered under her breath, her hands resting on her waist as she looked over the yonder. The vines appeared quite abnormal to be growing too wildly in the fields, as if there was some sort of magic being involved. It almost sounded impossible, but she couldn’t think of anything else that could cause a ferocious growth of vines. When she entered the field, she could feel the vines wrapping around her legs instantly, as if they didn’t like foreign creature on its land, tightening around her limbs. Nevertheless, she could break them free due to her immense strength; something she obtained after receiving a growth in power in her most recent days. She was proud of that but she needed more to become stronger.

Snowflake trudged through the earth, grunting with each movement since the vines were restraining her. She’d look over her partner to see if he was doing fine and as usual, she knew that she wouldn’t have to worry about him. She wondered what the main reason of them entering into the fields if they didn’t actually know what was going on. They trudged further into the grasslands and more vines would start to pull her back, so much that she was almost on the verge of falling flat on her face. If she had a weapon, it might be a bit easier as she could just cut off the vines. But, they would travel further, not exactly knowing what to search for.

Chelvaric Walderkat
Chelvaric was pulling on the vines to get out of them as they were trying to pull him to the ground. Which was quite annoying and he hated it. He pulled as hard as he could and after a bit he was lose from the first ones. It seemed Snow had not much troubles with it as she was pulling out of them with ease. He sighed and blamed him for not training enough on his strength to do the same thing. After a while he was getting tired from it and then he slapped on his forehead for being stupid. He had such a handy tool to cut easier through these vines and he didn’t use it.

Although he never really used his claws that much in the first place so it wasn’t a surprise that he would forget about it. He pushed his claws through his skin, he bit on his lip to withstand the pain at first and then slashed the vines. Not soon after the way behind them was littered with pieces of vines that had been cut up. The deeper they went the harder it became to move forward. Now the vines started to wrap around their arms to and nearly there whole body got covered in vines. Chelvaric was panting from exhaustion as fighting the pulling of the vines was starting to take it’s toll on his physique. “Snow we got to hurry and find the source before were too tired”, he said to her while the sweat was dripping from his face.

Snowflake wasn’t sure where she was heading but continued to walk further aimlessly, whilst doing her best to not fall over since she wasn’t aware of what would happen if she would get engulfed by all the vines. It almost felt as if there were snakes slithering past her feet, which was a very disgusting feeling that she would rather not describe. Chelvaric was only a few feet away from her and she could see how he was dealing with the vines. Claws suddenly emerged from his knuckles and she was slightly surprised by them, since she had never seen them before, not on a human at least and her partner had never shown them to her either, not that she bothered to ask, more like, she wasn’t aware that he would have cat-like claws. Speaking of which, she had never asked why he had decided to turn into a neko and decided that she’d save that topic for later.

Minutes plodded by and Snowflake wondered how long they have actually been in the middle of the fields, though it felt like forever to her. Soon, she’d see a large orb located a few meters in front of her. ”Do you see it?” She’d ask her partner and immediately began to walk faster, but ensuring herself not to trip over at the same time. Why would there be an orb located in the center of the plains? Unless it dropped from the sky, there was nothing else she could think of. It was either someone wanted to ruin the business of the farmers or perhaps, it was a sort of a natural disaster.

Chelvaric did his best to keep cutting the roots even when they crawled all around his body. He had to be careful not to cut himself too much. He didn’t want to end up with all cuts over his body because that would just be really annoying to treat later on the day. He carefully cut them through and then walked next to Snowflake as she suddenly asked if he could see the orb on the ground., when he looked at the location she was pointing at he could see the blue glimmer of the magical device. It seemed someone had left a vine grow device in the woods. Was it a failed experiment of some mage that wanted to get rid of it or was another farmer jealous of farmer Jim and wanted to ruin him so he could become the number one. It wouldn’t surprise him as farming business was quite harsh and difficult to be in.

“We should destroy it, the vines should be stopped then I think. Can you reach it because I am being sucked in even more.”, Chelvaric said as a dozen vines started to intertwine around him too much for him to cut and he felt his bones and muscles twisting and cracking under the pressure of the veins. If she didn’t hurry up he could be crushed to death by them.

Venus Rosé

Vines entwined and interlocked from every height and angle, and conspired to divert her direct route, harrowing her every step, pulling at her dress and skirt, scratching at every exposed part of her body, drawing drops of blood. Though, that didn’t stop her from reaching towards the orb that was just ahead of her. She was curious as to what is was and why it was there, although, that didn’t seem to be the main case. Her partner requested her to destroy the orb since he was being tied down by the vines. She decided that she’d quickly terminate the orb and help Chelvaric right after she did so, as long as he was able to withstand it. She couldn’t take long after all, since she didn’t want her lover to be swallowed up by the vines.

”I’ll be fast.”

She’d say and began rushing towards the orbs despite the vines that tore through her skin. She was more irritated that her dress was getting destroyed by these vines than being in pain. But, it couldn’t be helped in this situation. The female stared down at the large orb below her and she could see wave-like pulses being distributed throughout the entire field. So, this is actually the main reason. She thought to herself and pressed her palm against the surface of the orb. Ice fumes emitted from her fingers due to the extreme cold temperature and within a few seconds, the orb was entirely covered with a layer of ice, before it cracked down into multiple pieces.

Chelvaric skin was starting to get cut and small traces of blood were dripping from his chest as he was bare skinned. He was really annoyed now that he bled and that his pants were starting to rip too. He hoped Snowflake would be fast enough to destroy the orb or it would even get worse. He saw her run forward right to the orb. Dodging between the vines or she was at least trying her best as there were still vines trying to stop her or to hold her down. But she darted like a bunny through them and ended up near the crystal. He heard her say a spell he didn’t see her use yet and not much later the frozen crystal exploded in pieces.

He wondered what kind of magic she was using since he didn’t know she had magic. All the vines started to die around them and changed from a vivid green to black color as they were completely dried. He looked at the mess that was now laying over the farmland but at least they had lost there living aspect. “Good job Snow, I wouldn’t have done it without you. What was that magic you used? I didn’t know you trained yourself in some magic. It looked quite spectacular. Anyway, let's go and deliver the news to Jim”, he said to her as he looked at his trashed skin and clothes.

The vines began to wither once the orb was broken and a sigh of relief escaped the female’s lips as the vines released its grip around her body as well as Chelvaric’s. Fortunately, she made it on time otherwise her partner would have been in danger. Since she didn’t want to leave the broken pieces from the orb on the ground, she began to collect them in her hands to carry it back to Farmer Jim. Who knows when it might come back to alive? When she was done, she’d turn back to Chelvaric, who asked her what magic she had used. ”Oh. The word passed her lips, a sudden collection of memories flooding through her brain. It was then she realised that she hadn’t talked to him about her magic yet.

”It’s a kind of Ice Magic. I suppose the owner of this body used to wield it before but I’m still learning how to use it.”

She answered, as they began walking towards where Farmer Jim was located. Now, they’d have to walk back miles to inform Jim that the quest was completed. ”What about your claws? You never told me you had them.” She looked at his hands and her eyes widened slightly at the wound in his hands, which she assumed were from the claws that he had used earlier. ”Does it hurt?” She’d ask, a wave of sympathy crossing over her features before she slipped her hand into his and held onto it gently. Though it had been brief in reality, the journey back to Farmer Jim seemed to have stretched on for eons to her.

Chelvaric listened to snow as she explained that the magic belonged to the body that she got from someone else. He was not really following on how she got another body but that had probably something to do with the scientist she told him about that gave her the robotic body. At least that was his guess to it. He couldn’t really be sure till she told him, but he wasn’t going to push her, she would tell him when the time was ripe. He was quite interested in her ice magic, since ice was one of the forms of water he actually didn’t mind touching, the same with snow. it was a bit weird that he had problems with water but not with ice. Something was just different about it. She suddenly asked about his claws and also pointed it out that he never told her about it.

“I only discover it recently, I was just cutting some meat and I broke my knife, I then like was so frustrated I hit my hand on the table and they shot out of my flesh. The first few times it hurt really bad but now I am getting used to it.”, he said to Snow and he hold her hand a bit tighter when he thought back to it. They arrived at the farm. Farmer Jim was already waiting on them and thanked them for the good deed that they had done. He gave a big bag of jewels to each of them and left to check on the veins. They both went back together to the city to get something to eat for the night before they would go their separate ways to sleep.
