Kazumi Kiseki

•Kazumi Kiseki•

Today was a grocery shopping day. This was the conclusion that Kazumi had come to whenever she looked into her fridge and saw basically nothing. Since she had been out of town, she made sure to eat most of everything she had before leaving to prevent anything rotting or getting spoiled. As such, now that she was back, she really needed to restock. That was why when she left her apartment that morning, dressed in a striped shirt and jeans, That was her goal. To get food ad head back home, nothing more. However, that was not exactly the way that this day would turn out.

The sky was partly cloudy as Kazu wandered the streets of Magnolia. Everyone else around her was most likely on their way to work during this morning rush hour. Nearby, children ran about, all congregating at the same place; The school house. It was just a normal day, really. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Of course, that did not mean the Crystal mage could not still get roped into anything. "Oh! Miss Kiseki!" There was a voice shouting at her from behind. This threw the Fairy Tail wizard off guard, too, because she could not think of anyone who called her 'Miss Kiseki'. It sounded strange in her own personal opinion. Still, when she turned around to see who had called her, everything was made crystal clear. "Oh, hey Miss Sandine, how's it going?" Teacher Sandine was a school teacher at the local elementary school. Kazumi met with her once before, when she was one of her clients. "Hello, do you think you could help with my class again?" Kazumi's heart filled with dread. No more math, no more math, no more math, no more math, She chanted as she replied, "Sure, Do you need me to sub again?"
"Oh no, it's not that. I've been having trouble Keeping some of my students awake during class, and I could use some help getting them to pay attention. Do you think you could shadow for the day? You don't have to If you're already busy."
"Nah, It's nothing important I'll be happy to help." Well, There went any plans for shopping, at least until school ended.

Kazumi followed Teach Sandine to her classroom, where they stopped in from of the door. "Alright then," Sandine started, turning to face Kazumi to presumably give her some instructions on what exactly she would be doing here. "Basically, I just want you to sit in my class, and if anyone starts dozing off, get them to pay attention again. Simple."
"How exactly should I be waking them up?"
"Oh that?" Sandine shrugged, which was always reassuring. "However you want. Whatever you think would work best in the situation. I'm sure you will be able to figure something out, you seem to be pretty capable." Kazu appreciated the flattery for sure, but she was not exactly sure how "capable" she would truly be in this situation. "Oh," Sandine added, "It goes without saying, but don't do anything that can cause harm to my students. You ready?" Without waiting for an answer, Sandine was already through that door. This was going to be a long day. Kazumi could feel it.

Kazumi Kiseki

•Kazumi Kiseki•

right away when Kazumi entered the room, some of the kids recognized her and some even cheered. "Ms. Kazumi! Are you gonna teach us math again?" It was nice to be remembered. Last time she came here was for a substitute teaching request (That for some reason required the services of a guild mage), and she had used her crystal magic to get the children to understand how math works. It seemed to work pretty well from what the young crystal making wizard could remember. However, this time was not the same. She was here for a different job entirely.

Kazu opened her mouth to answer to little girl's question, but before she could, Teacher Sandine was already on it. "Class, Ms. Kiseki here is going to sit in the back to make sure you all stay awake this time, okay?" This caused a collective groan from the students, some saying that they don't need a babysitter. "Well," Sandine responded, "We would not be here if you all would pay attention in the first place, would we?" She then turned to Kazumi herself. Gesturing toward the back with a pleading expression. "Now then, if you don't mind."
"Not at all." Replied the mage as she took her place in the back of the room.

Sandine started her class as normal, Teaching the kids various subjects starting with, surprise surprise, math. It took Kazumi back to her school days in Latinia, back before her village was completely destroyed by that volcano. Good times. Of course, Kazumi did not have much time to relax and reminisce, because it did not take very long for the students to start dozing off. It began with a young boy right in front of her, luckily enough. Kazumi could see his head bobbing up and down, getting closer and closer to the desk. The wizard took a step forward and shook him by the shoulder a little bit to get him to wake up. "Hey," she whispered, "you have to stay awake, okay?" The little boy nodded and Kazumi went on to wake up a young girl suffering from the same drowsiness. This repeated itself basically all day to the point that it was actually concerning. These Kids needed some kind of incentive, maybe. When a little boy up front started drifting away, Kazumi woke him up too, but this time told him that if he can pay attention all week, Ms. Sandine would give him Candy. This worked like a charm. Kazumi told this to everyone who started sleeping, and sure enough, they stayed awake for the rest of class.

When class was dismissed, Kazumi joined back up with Teacher Sandine up front. "That was amazing! what did you do?"
"Well, I may have told them you would give them candy on friday. Basically, i figured that if they had an incentive like Candy at the end of the week if they stayed up all week..." Sandine Nodded understandingly. "It's perfect. It might not work every time but those kids can suffer the conseqences. That's a really good idea. Here." Sandine reached into her purse and handed Kazumi some Jewels. "Wait, I couldn't possibly--"
"Take it, I would feel bad for making you do all that for free." With a nod, Kazumi accepted. The two women then said their goodbyes and Kazumi walked away, off once again to go grocery shopping.
